A1 imagination. Creativity. Thinking. Inventing.

A1: a place where students are free to create, working through trial and error, freedom to think and explore
I like those words very much!
A1: Any place where students can be free to be creative and use their imagination! No agenda! https://t.co/o0wPkyGirf
I keep hearing "imagination" but how do we let kids really open that up? What else do they need to "make" their "space"?
I can't fib though... My has a task that changes every two weeks... a little direction is okay...
Q1: The community- we learn through creating with and around others.
Freedom and a willingness to be vulnerable and create are some hallmarks of a
Zelia here from Toronto, Canada. My favourite childhood toy.. my crayons :)
what they do to complete that task... is up to them!!!
how do we foster that willingness? How do we get the kid that is afraid to shine in a ?
is there Space to construct, break, and rebuild? Also, are the arts in place (Student creations, music)
BOOM! More invaders! Represent!
A1: a makerspace is any environment inspiring cr8ivity, building, testing, exploration & so much more
I gotta admit, I've never really considered the Arts in a - But I LIKE IT!
I do not see this at all in my ... At first they were hesitant... Play? What?
We're working on it! Excited to see what will be possible this winter!
It don't think the materials make a Makerspace- it's the mindset that we can learn through the process of creating with others
Personally, I screw up on the regular. Just ask my students how many times they have to check MY math work...
YES. https://t.co/Io5XmFHLAg
It don't think the materials make a Makerspace- it's the mindset that we can learn through the process of creating with others
Totally agree! https://t.co/nWFuC6T8aL
It don't think the materials make a Makerspace- it's the mindset that we can learn through the process of creating with others
we need to figure out what the kids interests are and then build the

It don't think the materials make a Makerspace- it's the mindset that we can learn through the process of creating with others
We talk about this in my first class with my CARE CREW. Learning = failing forward
Q2: Why are makerspaces important to incorporate in student's learning?
A2 too many students are missing the opportunities that a Makerspace provides
A2: Makerspaces allow students that don't fit into the "academic mold" a chance to show that they are geniuses, too
Q2. Because play is our first learning experience. And we learn more by doing. Plus - it's fun.
A2 our parents and grandparents had to be makers out of necessity. We have raised consumers. They need that learning too
A2: Ss need 2 experience how 2 take on challenges where they can F.A.I.L. & move forward, construct, test, build, retest & reflect
A2: It helps inspire thinkers, dreamers, leaders, and cooperative citizens for the future
A2 It gives Ss an opportunity to truly be creative. give Ss another way to fail productively.
A2: I think it goes back to a fixed vs. growth mindset... the majority of kids have a fixed mindset...
would you clarify your acronym FAIL?
A2: When you make something, there is a beautiful flow between your mind and your hands that leads to deep, personal learning
The arts were maker spaces before maker spaces were hip.
A2. Our kids need to learn how to think outside the box and experiment.
Another important piece of a is ownership!!! There is nothing better than a child smiling because of accomplishment.
Sometimes we beat the growth mindset out of them. Unintentionally. https://t.co/LprPiMzpUf
A2: I think it goes back to a fixed vs. growth mindset... the majority of kids have a fixed mindset...
F.A.I.L. : First Attempt At Learning
we get so wrapped up in covering content and that we don't make time for what's really important
We dont always have a choice about that though...
we don't. And that's sad. Maybe we should do something about that... ;)
Truth. I think this conversation goes much deeper than . Glad to have it with you all! https://t.co/3eeUZh6rDb
we get so wrapped up in covering content and that we don't make time for what's really important
Ss watched Apollo 13 movie & loved the idea of thinking inside the box & being innovative within those restrictions
A2: Kids will continue to work on items they have created- even when they have met criteria for an "a"- it's personally relevant
We always have a choice. Teaching is as much a β€οΈaffair as it is a π΄one.
I hope all my Canadian appreciate the shout-out your Jays just got... that hurt a little bit
Sometimes I think we have it backwards-we should let kids create and then ask them what they've learned
absolutely! But it is imperative we figure out a way...
