A1 When I'm at my best, yeah I think my #flipclass clicks together pretty nicely between HW, assessments, in-class activities, & actual learning.

"unimpaired" is the other one, which seems impossible in public school because of all those outside requirements, disruptions, etc.

A2. #flipclass (or any teaching) needs sound construction. It’s vital to our profession, or else you are that person who says they are flipping, but really just showing the class a YouTube video. 🤬🤬🤬
A1 & A2 for me I am a "personality" style teacher rather than a "preparation" style teacher and #flipclass has forced me to reflect, organize and unify my teaching and it has been nothing but a bonus. I can always deviate from the plan BC Ss can find their way back to good plan

A1: Mine is not very sound right now. I have the organization down pat and the fundamental materials ready, but I have not flipped it all yet. I am pretty much ready though. Nerves are getting me though. Reading Learn Like a Pirate is helping me be ready!

I really like @jonbergmann's analogy: #flipclass is like the operating system for a device, on which you can run various "apps" (PBL, mastery, inquiry, etc.)

#stuvoice is very important! Make sure to check with them regularly about what's working and what's not. If it's working for you, but not for them, it's not working. #flipclass
A3: Started doing grade conferences and self assessments. Make the students own their assessments. Students would self reflect on each skill based on feedback. #flipclass#ditchgrades

A2 I think you need good foundation that is also flexible enough to respond to S q’ns and misconceptions. I loved being able to make a vid clearly showing w/molecular models the answer to a S q’n, but a plan is needed to handle the prep time investment! #flipclass#flipclasschat
Started doing weekly checking via Google Classroom. Every student had to give me feedback. Also started using @sowntogrow to have students to reflect and set goals for the following week #flipclass
Not to mention you are teaching them real life skills. Self advocating and learning how to give meaningful, purposeful and specific feedback. #flipclass
A3 It partly depends what we are assessing. After 4 1/2 years of resistance, I tried a little out-of-class assessment of video-lesson understanding this spring, and was pleasantly surprised by unique (un-copied) answers and overall high quality too!

However if the teacher needs to spend too much time/effort then it's also not working.
Twisting ourselves into pretzels doesn't work in the long run.

A2: For me the #flipclass is unified by the student learning outcomes and the classroom processes. Those are the drivers. How we explore within those boundaries and the tools are all variable.
A4 I have learned the hard way that Ss respond best when they know why we're doing what we are doing (even if they don't actually understand it yet).

A3: I feel like the key here is assessing the strength of the processes students used in creating a product and also having a variety of products they must create. I use @Seesaw among other things because of its flexibility. #flipclass
A4: allow Ss the opportunity to learn and explain their learning, encourage mastery of concepts, and provide them a variety and multitude of opportunities to learn #flipclass
