While we're waiting for everyone to join us, let's have a little fun. Please answer the following questions: What is your name/school/grade or position, and what is your favorite holiday song (any holiday!) to sing at the top of your lungs? #RCSTechChat
I'm Kayla Weller, and I'm the instructional technology coach at Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School. My favorite holiday song to belt out is All I Want for Christmas is You (Extra Festive). #RCSTechChat
Clarissa miles, tech coach at Rockvale Elementary. My favorite Holiday song is Mary did you know! I know ...a super serious one..but man it's a good one. #rcstechchat

Question 1 coming in 1 minute! Remember to use the A1, A2,... format to answer all questions tonight, and to include the #RCSTechChat hashtag on all your tweets.
A1: : I think it has been the amount of time it frees up by differentiating using blended learning stations. I mean, it’s a LOT of planning on the front end, but once you’ve got it set up, you’re good for a while! #RCSTechChat
#rcstechchat
A1 RES uses yogas (probably not the real term) but they are AMAZING in my job as I have to travel to the classrooms.
Plus using technology for a career interest inventory.
A1: I am currently using Microsoft Teams to let my quiet kids participate in a Socratic Seminar without having to speak up in front of the class. They go and post on the feed I make and it lets them comment on what is going on. #RCStechchat
I would say my biggest success with differentiation with technology in the classroom would have to be using @classnotebook to have students access different assignments and no one really knows who has what so it add privacy as well! #rcstechchat
A1- When students are engaged in purposeful technology use that truly enhances the content then I see it as a win! Ex-I worked with a T to have students track feedback in @MicrosoftTeams when meeting w/ them individually about their writing! It is amazing to watch! #RCSTechChat
Yeah that way the low kids do not know they are doing something "easier" and also it has tools that will read aloud to them called immersive reader and no one knows they are being read to except them! #rcstechchat
A1: As a coach, I differentiate by getting my message out in as many forms as possible. Email, website, PLCs, One Note. Teachers are busy. Got to reach them with any form necessary. #rcstechchat
A2: It’s the same struggle as it always is with differentiation, isn’t it? Finding the “sweet spot” and helping students where they actually are, not where you *think* they are. #RCSTechChat
A2-I am not in the classroom but I would say planning! It is difficult to plan multiple activities to meet different levels of students. Luckily we have some great tech tools that make it easier to do that. #RCSTechChat
A2: That some of my kids have no idea how to use technology. I thought I would NEVER have this problem, but I forget that sometimes kids don't have access to new tech @ home and they need extra help getting to where everyone else is! #RCStechchat
#rcstechchat
A2 I am a little bit different from a classroom teacher, but scheduling a computer lab or COW can be tough for teaching a whole grade level a lesson using technology
A2 We are not a 1:1 school. So I'm not able to utilize some apps that are made for the atmosphere! HOWEVER, we are blessed with the things we have! #RCSTechChat
A2- I think planning is a struggle...just juggling it all...getting it all set up. But that's where us tech coaches can come in a help manage that! #rcstechchat
A2 Definitely differentiation, managing all the student questions with all the different lessons going on! I feel as I run in circles . Started doing ask a learning partner first , then bend your laptop at 45 degree angle! Work in progress #RCSTechChat
Overall, it seems like planning his a huge problem. I know that putting in that extra time is worth it, but I am balancing 1000 other things! It's tough! Never feel bad for asking for help from others, y'all! #RCStechchat
A2: I see our teachers sometimes struggling to switch gears and reach every child when lessons are highly differentiated. It's definitely requires mental agility to provide authentic follow up and feedback. #rcstechchat
This is where I rely heavily on my success criteria. Only if they cannot accomplish what is being asked of them can they ask me. I also have a two person rule. Ask two others before asking me, only because I pull small group #RCStechchat
Just a reminder if you are on the chat tonight and no one is responding to you or liking your posts...your page might be set to private which means we can't see you in the chat. Just wanted to throw that out there. #rcstechchat

A3: I think the Immersive Reader and Learning Tools w/in Microsoft Office are crucial! I can post a Word doc or put something in OneNote, and the program will read aloud to students, and I can change the settings on the doc to help them read better themselves. #RCSTechChat
A3 Usually I would use an educational song on YouTube set to the melody of a popular song the students know. Then they are more invested in the content. #rcstechchat
A3- I would say @nearpod is a great tool struggling learners. It allows them to interact with the content and make a stronger connection. I also think tying in the content to topics that they love is also helpful. Anything to get the to buy into what you are teaching #RCSTechChat
A3: I often use quizlet as a reinforcement for my lower learners or other activities to help practice things that they are learning in class. Sample TNReady questions and other skill-based questions! #RCStechchat
A3 I like the feedback on TEAMs to discuss with students on what they need to work on! I like edpuzzle and playposit students can rewind and review the videos #RCSTechChat
A3: Direct instruction with multiple intervention strategies for truly struggling learnings. Otherwise, lots of videos to rewatch content. #rcstechchat
A4: I love using any sort of video technique. Whether it’s Playposit when they’re watching premade videos, doing a one-take video of my own to post, or letting them share through Flipgrid, they seem to engage better with the content when it's a video. #RCSTechChat
I ask my higher students to do more "research" based learning where they explore on their own to find answers. I don't like to hand them the answers and it helps build researching skills #RCStechchat
A4- Bascially any tool can be used for exceptional students especially if the content/instruction is taken to a much deeper level...the tool is just a tool! #rcstechchat
A4: Any further/ deeper research or what I would call “you teach “. My exceptional students loved teaching their peers an interesting fact about what we were studying at the end of class! #RCSTechChat
Yes! Adobe Spark is great for kids to create!!! @MsClaraGalan would be a great person for you to connect with on getting more out of it for your students! #rcstechchat
A few weeks ago my tech coach introduced my kids to adobe spark and they created a video! They loved it and worked so diligently on this! Thanks @Tibbstechcoach

A5: GradeCam is a good one for summative assessments. For formative assessments, I use a variety. FlipGrid, Playposit, Quizlet…the list goes on. #RCSTechChat
A5: My department uses iReady to compile all of our CFA & CSA data. The students don't keep a digital file of their data, but they do graph it all in class and have a data section of their binder #RCStechchat
A5 while teaching time is used @plickers almost everyday to check their understanding. Then as the unit went on I could look back at the data to see if the same students were not mastering objectives.#RCSTechChat
#rcstechchat A5- This is another benefit of @playposit . It monitors student progress and gives me instant feedback. I can check MC and short answer ?s
A5: Collect? Forms, I-Ready, anything that generates a .csv. Compile? Excel. This area needs A LOT of refinement. A district-wide (maybe statewide) data warehouse is needed. #rcstechchat
A5: I saw some teachers at RHS use Forms and the students wouls enter their own data. They uswd this for CFA’s , previous year eoc, etc. The teachers loved having instant data! #RCSTechChat
I use forms to do this but Mrs. Tibbs has created ya a document to record CFA data with projections and other data we might want to track ! I look forward to using this form. @Tibbstechcoach thanks #RCSTechChat
Doing great, friends! 1 more question remaining tonight! Remember not to log off until you complete the Form I'll be sending out. 1 minute warning until question 6! #RCSTechChat
Q6: A lot of teachers are experimenting with blended learning stations in their classroom. If you have, what is one success you’ve experienced? If you haven’t, what is holding you back? #RCSTechChat
Q6: A lot of teachers are experimenting with blended learning stations in their classroom. If you have, what is one success you’ve experienced? If you haven’t, what is holding you back? #RCSTechChat
A6 Blended Learning gives you so much more one-on-one time w/ your students! You can really get to know what their strengths & struggles are. #rcstechchat
A6: A success I’ve had is that students are not getting bored! Even in longer stations that take several days, they know the time is limited, and they are constantly looking to see what I’ll come up with next. The level of engagement seems to have increased! #RCSTechChat
A6: This is one thing I struggle with. I try my best to send stuff for the first half of my block for my kids to learn and then second half of block we work on practice! #RCStechchat
A6- Blended learning... once mastered..can actually make planning easier and give you so much feedback on your students. You get to know your students better than ever! #RCSTechChat
A6 We used nearpod during our science centers. The students loved the videos and being able to respond to the questions. I loved the feedback it gave me on their understanding. #RCSTechChat
Sometimes it's difficult to get going, but once you've mastered Blended Learning, it makes your planning SO much easier & the kids really like it! #rcstechchat
A6: This is one thing I struggle with. I try my best to send stuff for the first half of my block for my kids to learn and then second half of block we work on practice! #RCStechchat
A6 the students love blended learning with our block schedule keeps the students engage and time on task is so much better with blended learning! Also is great for classroom management. Student interest is engaging and they are inspired to learn ! #RCSTechChat
A6: I have seen blended learning reboot the careers of multiple veteran teachers. It is a truly rewarding paradigm shift that can transform the culture of a PLC or school. With the right supports (even if you don't have many devices), ANYBODY can do it. #rcstechchat
A6. I love being able to facilitate the learning and developing better questions as my students are working together. Instead of me doing all the talking my kids are talking to one another in small group and it’s been great to hear them explain themselves to others. #rcstechchat
