I am one of our PRIDE advisor. I fly a Rainbow flag, a Trans Flag & a Bi flag in my room and wear a rainbow lanyard just to make sure everyone knows where I stand:)

Just finished a WOULD YOU RATHER - Germany edition for our 3rd gr morning meeting. Now I'm in the mood for a pretzel, a wurst, and a stein of German suds. And it's only 5:30 AM :(

Good morning! And the answer is...no. We’re accepting & welcoming - and I’m proud of that - but there is no specific program. We’re pretty forward thinking, but this is Georgia, sadly more education is still needed - in droves #bfc530
Good morning! We have a gay straight alliance that sometimes is active in the school, depending on student leadership. In general our students are accepting to all. #BFC530
My school doesn’t do anything specific but I’m sure it’s a discussion topic in health class. I have novels in my classroom library with the occasional LGBT character. Our high school has an alliance group. It’s just a part of the fabric, not a separate thing. #bfc530
It is almost as if we take a don’t ask don’t tell approach when it comes to LGBTQ but then I teach at a K-8 school and I think that plays a role in the decision making. 🏳️🌈 #bfc530
Also our curriculum director has asked our PRIDE club to identify areas in our curriculum that need inclusion and what the kids would like to see different.

I'm in an #elemed, so we tend to address LGBTQ through lens of respect and understanding for all, rather than one particular group. Within a given conversation with 6th graders, perhaps we will address the topic more head-on if it arises organically. #bfc530
We have a GSA thaat has been a small group attending special events at the board level. But we have more members this year so looking to start meeting monthly next semester... Maybe showing a short documentary each time to start . #bfc530
After a student survey, it really opened my eyes to the bullying kids saw- because of race, culture, and sexual orientation #bfc530 We NEED to do more!
your school can have all the LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 celebrations but if your teachers are still hostile toward the idea than it is all for naught. For years I have had “those” kids find their way into my room at lunch time ... a safe place ... I don’t have a sign they just know. #bfc530

After viewing what was shared with kids in senior health yesterday you are so right we need some real information in the curriculum! I was a bit surprised at the outdated information and language that was being shared...

I’m curious about how other 5-8 middle schools incorporate LGBTQ awareness, rights, and needs. It’s a pivotal time. Are we making it more difficult or making it better for our Ss? I’m not sure we’ve done enough or the right things... #bfc530

I've been at my current school for 4 years. There hasn't been anything specific in that time, however there was an effort to designate teachers/staff/rooms that were safe zones prior. Some of the teachers still have their signs posted in their rooms each year.

I have not seen anything yet in my new district. In my old district, they had a club called Spectrum which met often. Also @English_Garland and another coworker presented during district PD days on how we can better support students in the LBGTQIA+ community! #bfc530
