A1: It is being a member of an online community, understanding norms of behavior and communication of that community and learning how to use it for promoting and helping others, connecting with others and leading by example. #AKEdChat#ASDDigCit

A1: Digicitizenship is the character of the individual viewed as a member of society that is required to abide by established social, ethical, and legal obligations both on and off line. #AKEdChat
A2: Hands down Common Sense Education! @CommonSenseEd They have an all around approach to digcit education and are always improving their resources. #akedchat
A2: Well of course @CommonSense ! I think one subcategory often forgotten in digicit convos is cybersecurity. #AKEdChat Take a look at their what they have to offer for info about cyber literacy

A3: My MOST favorite are authentic learning experiences. Example: password changes! Let's talk about (insert topic related to digicitizenship) in context! #AKEdChat#ASDDigCit
A4: As a community need to enforce the citizenship is a reflection of character (on and offline). Students need more authentic opportunities to ask questions and practice in authentic environments. #AKEdChat#ASDDigCit
A4 One is to model this. We have a Facebook group called “Say What You Want Kodiak” here. You can guess how the conversations go. Many of my students’ parents are active members. Then you wonder why the students think it’s okay to say whatever they want online. Hmmm #akedchat
A4: Part 2! It takes a village to raise a child. Here is one ideas - Imagine if communities could pledge to @WaitUntil8th Think of how impactful it could be to initiate a community effort! https://t.co/nOhmmJXQUX#AKEdChat
Communicate! Each district/school SHOULD communicate what digital tools are provided and for what purpose(s). We SHOULD force password resets and communicate why. We SHOULD send out PSAs to families when frightening challenges or "heads up" This and MORE! #AKEdchat
A4: I think school should really start looking at involving student expertise in "teaching" digcit. Some of them have a lot to share when it comes to digital literacy and social media #akedchat
Using GoogleClassroom and embedded conversations within lend to many lessons on digcit naturally. #akedchat (Amy Jo Meiners joining in late from Juneau.)
A7: today a 5th grader asked if we will be doing @CommonSenseEd Digital Passports again- she loved those activities! Looking to add @nearpod Digital Citizenship lessons K-5 too. Kids love the heads up about positive tech use. #akedchat
A7: In my teach prep program we were required to make a photo portfolio. There was 1 student who wasn't allowed in ANY photos. Parents and students have rights (and reasons) It is our job to know and uphold the rights. And it is in good taste to ask to snap a photo #AKEdchat
#akedchat A7: Talented student recorded CD in Nashville She had them for sale. Kids were copying music and sharing. She explained to Ss if she did not sell it she would not have funds to create another album. She shared cost to record then Ss understood. Pirating is a crime!
A7: This was waaay before ASD started to reset student passwords...A student figured out the generic password of another student, logged in to his G drive and had a lot of "fun" posting obscene memes :)....Fortunately for us he wasn't aware of "revision history" #akedchat
A8: I think this question of helping parents navigate the digital world is so important...I didn't grown up with any of this tech, so I am always just trying to catch up. We can help that as education institutions...spread knowledge to families #akedchat@CommonSenseEd
A8: Authentic integration for students, transparency for the tools being used for parents, and a lot of communication
Parents might use a forum to discuss with other parents. Schools and public libraries could host the space, but how to find a host? #akedchat
#akedchat A8: We have scheduled our school TV kiosks to share dig cit slides/movies w/ new tips for Ss and Ps each week for as long as we can. It runs in the area where Ps wait for Ss. We are 1:1 and there is a lot of pressure to get this right! Showing our Ss using tech safely.
Nothing hit home for my grandkids like the story of one of them losing everyone of his rewards/coins to someone he didn't know but erringly trusted with his login info. This new online "friend" was "supposed" to help him beat a level. Nothing I ever said meant as much! #akedchat
A10: My daughter is becoming a user of tech more than ever before, so I want to go on that journey with her...be that 'guide on the side' to hopefully bring the wisdom...#akedchat
