A1: Why teach? To change the world! To be a little part of change for as many around me as possible. To learn alongside the most amazing cast of people. To know no day would be the same. To strive towards the excellence of my best teachers. #eduar

A1: I don’t remember NOT wanting to be a teacher! It chose me, called loudly & I listened! I’ve always loved kids, I wanted to be the best teacher on the planet (work in progress) and I wanted to make learning fun while I made a difference in the world. #Eduar#LoveTeaching
#EDUar A1a I think I’m teacher-like since i began receiving most of my PD alongside Ts starting with #EdCampWestTexas in ’13. As soon as I got back to work Monday I started selling ideas on how to leverage #geniusHour#tlap#andragogy +
A1. My incredible science teachers & coaches made a huge positive impact in my life. I knew in 8th grade I wanted to teach & coach to make a big positive impact! #EduAR#LoveTeaching

A1: Crazy thing about becoming a teacher... My mom knew I would be a teacher and good at it before I did. I called her in college to tell her I changed my major from PR/Advertisiing to Elementary Ed and she basically said #itoldyouso#eduAR
A1 I was born into a family of educators! Their love and passion for teaching ignited mine at an early age! It is a calling on my heart that has always been undeniable! I #LoveTeaching with all my ❤️! #eduar
#EDUar A1b I guess I did it because learning [sometimes at least] should be enjoyable, memorable and something to share with others well after the event, not unlike coffee table photo albums & summer vacay videos.
A1: I became a classroom teacher shortly after/as a result of my brother’s death. Ultimately it was the realization that life is too short to spend your time not walking in your purpose. #LoveTeaching#EduAr#TeachArkansas

#EDUar A1c Kinda like this @8Amber8 tweet.. I seen how it was lemme try n make it what i can be.
Dunno what it’d be like if i were in a room of 2nd graders (i took a test once that suggested my teaching could encompass K-2).
A1: A 4th grade kiddo said to me the other day (as she was hugging me), “I have hugged you every day that we’ve both been at school. What am I going to do in middle school next year without your hugs?”
Wow.

A2: Several of my Ss are now adults & parents. I had a student that struggled in 6th & 8th she is now a Nurse Practitioner & teaches nursing classes. She told me she was teaching b/c of me... I knew she could & she wants to pass on that belief to others. #eduAR
A2: Our kids rock! I just appreciate a ‘have a great day Mr. Wasem’, or a fist bump, side hug, a smile, yes sir, no sir. Politeness and consideration are free! #eduar
#EDUar A2a Last year i did a #realities360 session on #ARVRinEDU.. i think i could have done a lot better. As I was beating myself up whilst putting my gear away two people came up and thanked me for sharing in way that ‘spoke’ to them. #wow#humbled
A1: I became a teacher to invest in the community I grew up in. I want my struggling/disadvantaged students to know no matter what their current situation is, IT DOES NOT DEFINE THEM. They are so much more than they give themselves credit for. #eduAR
I constantly hear from students that my teachers share with me the impact that our @VirtualArkansas teachers have on them. They are challenged and encouraged. Our teachers know the and in turn they respond both in their academics and in their personal success. #eduAR
A2: I’ve been working w/ a 1st grader that recently moved from Honduras- so she doesn’t have much schooling. Today she said “I didn’t know anything, but now I do.” And it brought tears to my eyes... she sees that she can learn, and j get to be a part of that! #LoveTeaching#EduAR
A2: A student called me (from parents phone) from a competition to personally thanked me for staying extra late multiple days in a row so they could complete their robotics project. He isn't a student of mine but I volunteered my time to help make him a success! #EDUAR

A3: I think above anything a school has to have a shared vision and shared values, along with strong relationships! Teachers should feel they are trusted to create a learning environment for ALL students. #EduAR#LoveTeaching
A3: Culture of Collaboration and Quality. Clarity and Support. If expectations are clear for all then everyone knows where they stand. When the expectations are reinforced and celebrated in public and those that are not met addressed in private... everyone wins. #eduAR
Q2: I recently received a video message from a former student who was “a ward of the State” when I had her...she’s in her last year of college...& said I (not the classroom or the subject) was and will always be her “home”. 💞😢#TeachArkansas#EduAr#LoveTeaching
A3: Create a culture and climate that supports teaching and learning set with strong relationships with students, families, and the community! #EduAR#TeachArkansas#JoyfulLeaders
A3: Teachers need to feel supported, respected , valued . Putting things in place to support teachers emotional and professional well being should be paramount for leaders . Additional planning time , providing needed supplies , coffee , chocolate , a break. #EduAR
#EDUar A2b A month later we did another project. And a month later, another. I think if we’d had time (a moment or three?) during any given week to doodle that would have been something. I’m pretty shy about my art tho not so much as in years passed. Fear of criticism recedes..
A3: Ensure that teachers have a voice, and can share things they want to change or do to support kids and our school. They have amazing ideas and should all contribute. #EduAR#LoveTeaching
A2. A 4th grade student wrote me a card thanking me for all I do for @StarCitySchools. She knew it was important “even though she isn’t exactly sure what I do”. #EduAR#LoveTeaching

Q3: A culture that encourages teachers to #LoveTeaching must treat teachers like professionals, honor their voice, and keep the focus on what is best for students. #EduAR#TeachArkansas
Autonomy is so iimportant and it also encourages risk-taking. I have my teachers lead PD often. The teachers would rather listen to them thanto me anyway!!! #eduAR
A3: Ensure that teachers have a voice, and can share things they want to change or do to support kids and our school. They have amazing ideas and should all contribute. #EduAR#LoveTeaching

#EDUar A3a My favorite-et teacher in all the world was CDB (Mrs. Christina Davies Beeson), sophomore English & journalism teacher at Colton (CA) High. She loved what she did. Most awesome other Ts were those who loved what they did, too. Uncle Andrew, Chief Langdon.. +
A2: Thank you note from a senior: “You helped shape me into the person I am.” Sophomore: “You are my favorite teacher, but this class (content) is hard.” It’s all about the relationships people. #EduAR
A3: I think this is a tough one! With the testing climate, teachers feel the pressure & often don’t feel the ❤️ for teaching. School leaders should communicate that learning matters, and the scores will come. #EduAR#LoveTeaching
A3: Create a culture and climate that supports teaching and learning set with strong relationships with students, families, and the community! #EduAR#TeachArkansas#JoyfulLeaders
So true. Students want the same thing as well. If we want teachers to have student-directed/student-led learning where student voice and choice are honored, we must do the same for our Lead Learners!!! #EduAR

#EDUar A3c Establish a way, somehow, for the adults in the room to connect with their inner kiddo to bring that love/passion to the fore. Beyond that, dunno. Maybe #tlap it?
A2. A 6th grade student walking out the door...”Bye Mom!” I love knowing they feel so loved and comfortable they forget they are at school and that I’m not their mom!💕💕 #eduAR
Q1. I became a teacher to be that "one" teacher my students can depend on. I am blessed to have had a teacher that literally save my life and I became a teacher knowing that I may have that same impact on a child one day. #EduAR#LoveTeaching#TeachArkansas

A3: Promote trusting relationships. Listen to the teachers. Engage in meaningful, authentic and courageous conversations. Play together. #LoveTeaching#EduAr#TeachArkansas
A3. Who wants to be in a school where the culture is toxic? You can walk into such a school & know that relationships, respect, & trust are not valued. Listening to the conversations by the Ts, Ss, & parents while in a school will tell you a lot about what they do value! #eduar
A3. It is true that a positive culture starts at the top. It is modeled and discussed by administration and it trickles down to teachers. A principal can make or break a school with their philosophy and what they exude in every day conversations and actions with Ts. #eduar
A4: I have the privilege to work with truly amazing educators. They inspire, encourage, support, and challenge me. And they make me laugh! #EduAR#LoveTeaching

A3: Give teachers a voice. Be there to support each other. Build strong relationships. We must have a foundation to build a culture. It all starts with feeling valued. #EduAR
A4: My teachers in my hallway. We bounce ideas off each other, help each other out in emergencies, help support and encourage each other on those tough days! #EDUAR
A4: My teachers encourage me to keep going by their kindness , grace , and patience with myself , each other and our students . I mean sometimes I just have to face the fact that I messed something up and say , “ Sorry , my bad.” #EduAR
A3. Teachers can change a culture in a school by recognizing the hard work that other colleagues are doing on daily basis. This may come in several different forms of communication i.e., the same concept applies when recognizing students' positive behaviors. #eduar
#EDUar A4a So I’m not a K-12 teacher, right? Since ’99 working at an Intel Pentium fab in Arizona I began practicing instructional design. Lately that’s morphed into crafting learning experiences. Pretty much every #EdCamper who shared a story (win or miss)shares/supports me +

#EDUar A4b #designthinking brings out the best, or so it seems, in the clinicians whose PD i support. Pretty much every one of ‘em who shares a tale or woe inspires and supports me to help get to whoopee (Ms Michele Jackman taught me that)https://t.co/kwylzzZcLF
A4: My #edusistas@bethhill2829@Lindsey_Bohler push me daily to strive to be a better version of myself. They are creative, motivated and passionate about their calling! Both are fearless leaders that are not afraid to speak up for kids. #eduar#LoveTeaching#valueadd
A3. One of the quickest ways to build staff culture without a strong principal is to create friendships among the Ts. Find people who are like you and that have a passion for education. Meeting with staff outside of the school setting supports each other's mental welfare. #eduar

#EDUar A5a #EdCampWestTexas in ’13 was the watershed event in my professional development so far this century. Who knew learning alongside people who weren’t instructional designers could be so instructive? +
A4 We don’t get to teach together, but a shoutout to @ables_meghan for supporting all teachers across this state and working every day to elevate our profession! Her presence @ArkansasEd is a game changer for teachers in our state & I sure appreciate her cheering loud 4 us! #EduAR
A5. 3 things...1. Laugh DAILY (take care of yourself). 2. Accept help from others when needed. 3. Always strive to learn new ways/techniques/ideas to teach with (mix it up so you don’t burn out). #eduAR

#EDUar A5b I would argue that if you want to #LoveTeaching go where there are no teachers give learning a try. Maybe it’ll work, maybe not. But you’ll have busted out of constrained ways of knowing to try something new. Be new. And give @DonWettrick#PureGeniusBook a read.
Q5. Self-care, self-care, self-care. Find your tribe that you can lean on and will lift you when you need it. Give yourself grace. #LoveTeaching#EduAR#TeachArkansas
I became a teacher because I felt safe with my teachers growing up. I wanted to build that safe haven for middle schools that I had during those weird years. #LoveTeaching#EduAR
A3. Everyone wants to do well. Ts work hard to ensure the best possible outcomes & experiences for their Ss. A school leader who routinely recognizes that Ts' success is a feather in everyone’s cap, thereby promotes greater interconnectedness in the workplace. #eduar

A5. Teacher’s lounge culture has a reputation for being toxic with negativity. It’s easy to sit around venting. But negativity is contagious and seeps into a school’s overall culture, so Ts should model empathy, kindness, and maturity or avoid such settings. #eduar
A4: I #loveteaching with Gina Paul! She loves teaching and does it so well. She’s my go-to for advice and ideas. And it’s always about what’s best for kids. #EduAR

A5. Classrooms that were well organized, display student work, and feature flexible arrangements improve student outcomes. When staff and students arrive at school, they should feel a sense of pride, ownership, and community. #eduar
We must create a culture where teachers feel valued and their voice must be heard. When teachers aren’t valued they begin to lose the love. No matter how well their content studies are going, if they’re unappreciated they’ll lose the love. #LoveTeaching#EduAR
