A1 if you don't celebrate, it is drudgery. Take the small wins along the way. Pause and look how far you have come...that always gives you more energy to keep pushing. #moedchat
Well...If April's in then all my excuses just vanished. I'm Lane, privileged to have the best tech leader on the face of the planet while doing my thing in a HS math class. #moedchat
A1 it’s hard to build a relationship if you don’t take time to celebrate things that happen that strengthen the relationship and help kids succeed. This also encourages those positive actions that help kids succeed. #moedchat
A1: Schools are built for communities. Most importantly, though, they are not built for educators. We must every single day as educators reach out, welcome, and invite ALL of the members of a school community to be part of the school we serve! #moedchat
We asked our students to write ☝️ thing that “lifts “ them up! These are their repsonses...They all have wings, we can’t wait to see these @LSR7 kids fly 🤗 #mustangnation
A1 Each stakeholder group benefits from celebrating each other's successes and efforts. Celebrations broaden awareness and brings the groups together creating a more cohesive and supportive community. #moedchat
A1: I believe we should showcase what is important within the walls. We need to recognize our students for academics and ethics. It shows our community what our future holds, and our Ps want to know their children are achieving. Kids need to know. Ts need to know. #moedchat
A1b My first year as a teacher, at the summer welcome they played a song "We're all in this together" and that is the truth. We all work together for the same goal, so it is a must that we all celebrate each other. #moedchat
Yes-in my elementary building we celebrate academics on the morning broadcast and we also celebrate students who show good character at our monthly assemblies #moedchat
A1: Proactive and sustained relationships with stakeholders builds support and enthusiasm for a school. And we need that support and enthusiasm because it helps to shape our culture, it strengthens student connection, and it brings belonging to the community. #MOedchat
A1- It's important to keep in mind that everyone learns differently. Everyone also wants to be celebrated differently too. Have to develop that relationship in order to figure out the best way to celebrate! #moedchat
It's also important to remember that it's not about us. It's about them. If we want them to develop a voice and have confidence in their voice, we have to nurture and encourage it. #moedchat

We share our good things at meetings, and we give affirmations to each other. There are times when we cover each other's room if a sub cannot be found. We are pretty tightly knit at PBJHS. We teachers high five each other as much or more than the Ss do! #moedchat
We were just having a conversation about this recently, people like to be celebrated in different ways and I think many of us overlook that fact. #moedchat
A1: When school leaders celebrate the successes of their staff, they not only motivate teachers to perfect their craft, but they contribute to a positive school climate, one that is committed to improvement.
#moedchat
A1 I’m a school board member, at each meeting we celebrate faculty and students for various achievements! Pictures, certificates, gift cards, Facebook post, clapping, snacks, we are in it to win it!:) #moedchat
Q2: We celebrate our @CapeJeffTigers staff as much as possible!!! We have our, “Too Legit to Quit” cart that we stop in with people write positive teacher referrals! @MOedchat#moedchat
A2- We have shout-outs in our building's weekly newsletter. We also try to "squeeze" in celebrations into our weekly PLC meetings. They're usually jam-packed and strictly business, but it's important to find time to celebrate the tiny successes. #moedchat
A2. Our monthly Hornet Tech Tip flyers recognize a feature faculty/club/class; we give away fun tech prizes to teachers & paras who complete Hornet Tech Badges; our local radio station shares every award/grant/new project; our school board celebrates one building/month #moedchat
A2 There is always time for a "celebrations and concerns" thing, but I think many peopleI work with go out of their way to congratulate people on anything professional or personal. They all look out for each other. #strongcommunityculture#moedchat
Q2: We celebrate our @CapeJeffTigers staff as much as possible!!! We have our, “Too Legit to Quit” cart that we stop in with people write positive teacher referrals! @MOedchat#moedchat
On the other hand, if we are all running around with secret scripts on how we want everyone else to celebrate us, that is not likely to turn out well. I say focus on gratitude.#MOedchat

We celebrate like it is going out of style...well because in some ways it is!! We shoutout teachers daily. We have called home 1500+ times home to celebrate students with their families. @leighmragsdale our lead learner dances into classrooms to celebrate always!! #moedchat
Q3. Student success and achievement (academic, social emotional, behavior) is an integral part of our schools. How do you celebrate achievement? #MOedchat
Yes. We should celebrate what the educators around us and in our PLN are accomplishing. Dimming someone else's light doesn't make yours shine brighter. #moedchat
Also true. This was more along the lines of some people like hugs, others do not. Probably just need to focus on having good relationships with people? #moedchat
A2 My school needs to work on this but, we use to bring a bouquet of flowers to each staff meeting and staff could hand out a flower to another staff member to say thank you for something they did, shout-out, etc.
#moedchat
We find it so important for paras to be up-to-date in their modern skills as they are typically the ones helping a student most one-on-one & our struggling students. They need PD like the rest of us. #moedchat
A3- Every day we highlight a "Manners Matter" student during our PM announcement that went out of their way to help someone. It's always great to hear your name over the intercom... unless you're lost in the middle of a department store! #moedchat
A2b: We celebrate our families by calling home to brag on their student. We celebrate our community by inviting them into our school to help us with BIG things! People LOVE doing NOT getting. The best way to celebrate people is to help them seek more opportunities!! #moedchat
A2b: We invite our parents and community in on Fridays for Fist-Bump Fridays. They share how they apply our character principles into their lives and jobs and then they high-five or fist bump the kids on the way into school. #moedchat
We always post positive referrals on our social media, we go FB live for our awards ceremonies, & give shout outs during our morning gym! We have monthly good choice assemblies as well! #moedchat
Q3. Student success and achievement (academic, social emotional, behavior) is an integral part of our schools. How do you celebrate achievement? #MOedchat
As a parent, nothing means more than an email from a T telling me that my kiddo worked hard or positively impacted the class discussion. Simple, but powerful. #MOedchat
Q3. Student success and achievement (academic, social emotional, behavior) is an integral part of our schools. How do you celebrate achievement? #MOedchat
During Catholic Schools' Week #csw19 (this coming week) we have one day of the week to celebrate groups of stakeholders. Parent Appreciation Day is one of those days of celebration. #moedchat
A3: We have a data wall. We have a positive referral board. We have academic awards at the end of the year. We have student of the month. Honor Roll is published. I also believe getting recommended for an honors class by a T and not a P is an achievement. #moedchat
A3: We have awards ceremonies. We have the music, the lights, the photos!! We also celebrate like there is no tomorrow every single day when students reach their goals. Most importantly though our students celebrate each other!! That is the real magic! #moedchat
A3: We celebrate as much as we can. We believe that positive school culture is the undercurrent of all that we do, and we must always fuel the positive! #moedchat
So true! Since my math students work in teams like mini-departments, I have lots of things to write home about in terms of developing leadership & communication skills. They get all excited when they see me taking notes of what they say. #moedchat
Q2: We celebrate our @CapeJeffTigers staff as much as possible!!! We have our, “Too Legit to Quit” cart that we stop in with people write positive teacher referrals! @MOedchat#moedchat
It is-we are not a leader in me school, but we included many aspects: leadership binders, school leadership jobs, etc. It is so powerful and teaches our kids great life skills
#moedchat
A2B- Not necessarily a celebration, but we had to adjust when we had certain events like our Winter Program so more parents could attend. Not everybody can make something at night, so you have to shift to meet your audience. #moedchat
Be sure to follow #coreadvocates on Twitter next Tuesday, January 29th starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. We'll be discussing how to transform those educational resolutions into educational routines! #teachervoice#edchat
#moedchat A4: Celebrating academic successes for the school is VERY important! We treat our school academic goals as if they are #1 important. We have a Rock Star entrance for students and teachers and have a school ideas assembly for the WHOLE SCHOOL for everyone's efforts!
I don't do it as often as I should...I need to make it more of a priority. It's such an awesome thing to do, and, more than once I have had a parent tell me they have never received a positive call before - they were floored, and so proud of their child. #moedchat
A4 We just had "Cocoa and Conversations" this morning to celebrate student reading success. Families were invited to come have hot chocolate and donuts while learning about all the great things their kids have achieved #moedchat
I really like that idea but I just can't get set up for classes, etc. in 5 min and, at the same time, be at the door. Change slides, handouts, get their favorite tunes going...just can't get myself to the door! If someone's got ideas, I'd love to hear. #moedchat
A4: We use the house system modeled by @BethHouf. Our kids compete for points. Still, it's hard to motivate those who are severely broken from the inside out. #moedchat
A5. As an Innovation Coach, I love bragging about colleagues after snapping a few pics in their room! I wish admin would do this for teachers more, too! #moedchat
A5 I teach third grade so I have never used social media to communicate celebrations....We also have a group of students in my K-4 building without photo permissions....How do you go about included those students?
#moedchat
A5: Sure, but a massive celebration with your desktop or phone is cool and all and can spread the news, but the real celebrations come with the voices, the high fives, the hugs and the smiles, tears of joy and laughter that make us human! #CelebratED#moedchat
A5: It's fun to send pictures to parents of the good things their kids are doing. I do this via email or @RemindHQ. This is especially helpful for ELL parents. They might not understand a phone call, but they can understand a picture. #moedchat
A5: We can reach a wider audience. Our present community members can see what we have to offer the future community. Also, our sponsors can see they get their money's worth when they help our kids. #moedchat
A5 A lot of teachers have Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts. We have an opt out policy so teachers can safely share pics, videos, and info. This gives faster and better communication of successes in their classes #moedchat
A5: I do love how SM can reach the community. We’re a fairly big district and it’s great to send those positive messages out for all to see. I also love seeing what’s going on in all of our buildings. It helps me feel connected. #moedchat
#moedchat A5 social media is an easy and quick way to showcase the learning activities in the classroom! Like these students I saw working together to learning together! Camera phone, Live collage, Twitter, and out goes the good news! #celebrate (also tag the teacher as Cudos!!)
Also, I used lots of social media in my 4th grade room. @Egotthornets & @libbybrynn are two 4th grade Ts who have student tech directors who do all of their posts if you want to check them out. And we SUPER love @Seesaw for a free/safe/private social media for families #moedchat

Q6: Our principal @canwarren73 does most of the celebrations. Birthday announcements, positive referrals, students of the month, teacher affirmations, etc. Every now and then she has a stunt double. #moedchat
A6 Most of our school-wide celebration activities are organized by our building Goodwill Committee, and sometimes by our building Character Education Committee
#moedchat
Take pics without student faces. Use blur filters or only take their pic from behind. Apps such as @Seesaw is a controlled social media environment. Our parents who don't want their kids on open social media are fine with this environment. Check it out! #moedchat
A5 I teach third grade so I have never used social media to communicate celebrations....We also have a group of students in my K-4 building without photo permissions....How do you go about included those students?
#moedchat
A6 I think everyone shares it out. I help with the building Twitter, but each teacher has their own medium and they use it to share more than just their own stuff #moedchat
A6: I believe that this is a focus for our strategic plan. I’m excited to see what our district puts in place for district-wide recognition for the amazing things that are going on in our schools. #moedchat
#moedchat A5 social media is an easy and quick way to showcase the learning activities in the classroom! Like these students I saw working together/learning together! Just, Camera phone, Live collage, Twitter, and out goes the good news! #celebrate (also tag the teacher, Kudos!)
We are piloting @Seesaw this year. I have more parents on Remind though - maybe because I started that first and I'm still learning ins and outs of Seesaw. #moedchat

I control Twitter and Instagram accounts and contribute (anything not news or info) to our Facebook. My focus is typically what goes on in our school. Others are in charge of annoucements, etc. #moedchat
