CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
"Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid." from Fish in a Tree by Hunt #catholicedchat
Good morning, #CatholicEdChat! Theology teacher from Bishop McNamara H.S. in Forestville, Maryland (Archdiocese of Washington). My favorite quote is reliably the Lord's words here.
Good morning #catholicedchat I am doing a research project over Twitter as professional development and connectedness for educators. Can you share one way your professional life as an educator has benefitted from this and where you are from? Thanks!
Good morning, cold here in Iowa but no snow yet. One of my favorites is that we can’t teach today’s children for tomorrow Dwight yesterday’s lessons. I am paraphrasing. #catholicedchat
Barb in Nebraska, I am a much better teacher from using Twitter. I have learned so many new tools and strategies. I have made so many friendships and I have grown in my faith. #CatholicEdChat
.@OKNatalieJ, one way that my life as an educator has benefited from #CatholicEdChat is connecting with educators in Catholic schools across the nation (really, world) who are likewise interested in sharing innovative ways to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with our students.
#CatholicEdchat I am a DC native who has used this social media to further my #PD in language arts, writing, and #edtech. It has opened doors for work in research/writing and abroad.
My favorite movie to teach.(Middle school -) I could quote the whole thing. John Newton-“God sometimes does His work with gentle drizzle, not storms. Drip. Drip. Drip” #CatholicEdchat
Great for you for showing that to your students, @mmdetrick! It is important for them to realize that, while the New Testament was improperly used (i.e., misquoted and misinterpreted) to further slavery, it was *correctly* used to overturn it. Matthew 7:21-23! #CatholicEdChat
I am relatively new to Twitter but the chats, particularly #CatholicEdChat, have energized my teaching - new ideas, ways of looking at things, and the encouragement of new friends are awesome!
We had a great start to Advent with a message about the power of positive relationships with Saskatchewan Roughrider fullback Spencer Moore, followed by blessing our advent wreaths (forgot to take pics). Our pre-intern was back for the week too. #CatholicEdChat
#CatholicEdChat In #edtech, it's almost impossible to keep up with all the emerging technologies. Twitter PLNs give you perspectives from people near and far and help to synthesize and test strategies. Meet neat ppl too!
I love this quote, especially due to how old it is (people had insights back then?). :-) We can learn from the lessons of the past in terms of what has worked and what has not. Learning from history is learning what *not to* repeat and learning what *to* repeat. #CatholicEdChat
Mobile device and short-throw projectors are great for digital inking. We're not using interactive features of Epson BL since going 1:1 iPads. #CatholicEdChat
We took all but one of our SMART boards out after we went 1:1. They limit to one student at a time - just not as effective. We use @explainevrythng on the iPads for white boards and creating screencasts. #CatholicEdChat
Thought I would share a book that a student made about her great gray uncle. A Navy Priest at Pearl Harbor during the attack. He was given a silver star on 12/7. He died saving 12 other sailers. https://t.co/TXpmRLKq4L#catholicedchat
Unasked for advice is always criticism. A quote from this great video from Fr. Mike. We had long discussion of this at Men of Faith group this morning: https://t.co/wYcKC2eN51#catholicedchat
We also need to distinguish *critique* from *criticism* per se. Critique, i.e., "constructive" criticism, so to speak, in the form of formative feedback, uplifting input, and so forth is warranted. #CatholicEdChat
In a Catholic organization: Live the Gospel and encourage colleagues to do the same! Leaders who embrace the Good News and preach it faithfully see a positive ripple effect benefiting everyone throughout the institution. #CatholicEdChat
@OKNatalieJ, this is a great example of how Twitter helps share great powerful student learning. Publishing the story about her great-uncle inspires others than just the ppl who knew him. #CatholicEdChat

Hey #CatholicEdChat, just wanted let you know, my son is doing much better...he went to school for two and a half days this week. Things are definitely getting better. Thank you for all the prayers!
If I may, I am inspired by how many of you shared scriptural quotes. We in Catholic schools have the privilege of sharing biblical insights, especially from the Gospels and elsewhere in the New Testament. This may be one of few times our students get to hear them! #CatholicEdChat
I must depart a few minutes early, #CatholicEdChat, to go pick up my son from CCD at our parish. If you are interested in some weekend reading, here is my latest piece at the @NCRegister. Let us enjoy celebrating Advent throughout our Catholic schools! :-) https://t.co/MfDykzDAEj
