Phil from Northern Virginia. I teach 6/7 US History I&II and am the founder of #waledchat (Thurs @ 9pm ET) and #Edusations (Youtube). Thrilled to be here! #learnlap
I'm Paul Solarz, a 4th grade teacher from Arlington Heights, Illinois and author of "Learn Like a PIRATE."
I can't choose just one favorite - I was raised loving all of them!
#LearnLAP
Good evening y’all.
Elyse from North Texas. Social emotional educator. Favorite book: one fish,
Two fish, red fish, blue fish! Can’t wait to see @amynicolebettis rock! #LearnLAP
Hi all! I'm Tami, an international T down in Mexico but from California. I teach pre-first (grade b/n K & 1). I think (not sure...it's hard to choose) my fave Dr. Seuss book is "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" #Learnlap
HI! #LearnLAP so glad to be here. Love Dr. Seuss and all his books. I'm Barbara from Oakland, CA. I co-host #rethink_learning and host my podcast, Conversations on Learning. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is Hooray for Diffendorfer Day!
A1: I try to promote student voice and choice as often as possible, increase the novelty, make clear real world connections, and smile/laugh around my Ss a LOT! #LearnLAP
A1: I try to think of their interests. We've made memes together, held trench battles in class, designed websites, and more! The benefit of teaching places is "oh the places [we all] go!" #learnlap@ERobbPrincipal@mrssim19
A1: allow students to problem solve more and ask good, quality questions to challenge their problem solving. Allow students to “do” the solving themselves with guidance #LearnLAP
A1: I make learning fun and engaging by showing my excitement for it, keeping the flow going so there are no lulls or “boring” moments, and add humor when ever possible...it’s the quickest way to get all thrilled for learning and united as one #LearnLAP
A1: making Ss the subject of the examples, bringing in their likes and dislikes; #gamification was a game changer (no pun intended) for student engagement as well; building relationships w Ss always helps as well #learnlap
A1 Student engagement increases when they feel their voice matters to the class. Giving opportunities to share the learning in a variety of ways is just one way to make learning fun! #LearnLAP
A1: opportunity. One size does not fit all. Being able to provide a buffet of opportunities to learn the materials which includes remiadtions and extensions.
#LearnLAP
A1 I try to find out what they love outside of school so I can incorporate that in the classroom. I create games, room transformations, and picture books they have connections with. #LearnLAP
A1 - I try hard to involve my students in their learning (hands-on science), choose novel ways of getting them to learn (crime scene to learn latitude/longitude), and empower them to lead & make their own decisions throughout the day! #LearnLAP
A1: gamified PD this year for the Ts in my district. Several have commented that they’ve tried things they never would have without it bc they’re competitive and wanted to earn XP. 😆 They continue to use the new ideas. Loved that! #learnlap
A1: This totally depends on the year and the group of kids I have. They all need something different! I start by getting to know my students and then planning from there #LearnLAP
A1: I'm not in a class but I do teach educators and other adults. Learning has to be fun. You have to model it, show your students that you love what you do, that learning is so amazing that they won't want to stop. #LearnLap Oh, play! giggle! Thought I'd add those.
A1: I like to create experiences in history through choice. Ss usually have the option of blogging, podcasting, building with legos. There is always something happening in room 303. #LearnLAP
A1: I like to challenge myself by finding new tech to get Ss engaged either on an independent level or with each other. By doing this, more collaboration occurs! #LearnLAP
A1. In order for students to be engaged, they have to feel empowered. In order for students to feel empowered, they have to be able to make connections to their learning experiences. I give students opportunities to learn in ways that make sense to them. #learnlap
A1. Bring passion about the subject material, strike curiosity in the Ss, where they want to investigate and take a risk, and soon the smiles begin! #learnlap
One of my goals is to work as a Special Education teacher. When I worked as an ABA therapist always tried to picture their point of view. It was easier to engage with the kid when you get down to their level, instead of making them reason like I would. #learnlap
A1: Everyone wants to feel like they belong and are valued. Spend time to get to know your students. Create a culture of caring. Don't just jump right into content and spend time 1-on-1 so each Ss feels unique and special. Relationships matter the most. #LearnLAP
I love using a group essential question dice game that limits word count and imposes a time limit as they work to answer ?s using critical thinking and evidence. #LearnLAP
A2: Something I care a lot about is breaking stigma(s) on sexual orientation and race through the implementation of picture books, short stories, and novels #LearnLAP
A1 We can't lose sight of playful exploration. Humans have always learned by playing and doing. Keeping that in mind and giving students the opportunity will keep them engaged. We mix in the scaffold. #LearnLAP
A2: I care an awful lot about "purpose." I feel we lost our purpose in education. We need to know the WHY again and encourage our Ss to find their WHY. That passion we had as a child. We need that back. So I'm writing about this and may reach out to you & your WHY. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A1. I understand the fibre of my class first. Two of my grade 9 &10 groups prefer intensive discussions and lengthy questions and answers, suggest strategies adopted for them are similar. While one group likes role play a lot ;which is what they learn through then.
A1: If I’m having fun in class, so are my students. Engagement is contagious so when I’m present and genuinely laughing and smiling, students tend to chirp in and meet me at my level. That’s where the learning really begins. #LearnLAP
A2: Learning/sharing about trauma-informed/trauma-responsive. What am I doing? I started a #FiresideChat to talk about current issues in education in our area. #LearnLAP
A1. In order for students to be engaged, they have to feel empowered. In order for students to feel empowered, they have to be able to make connections to their learning experiences. I give students opportunities to learn in ways that make sense to them. #learnlap
A1 - Engagement stems from the learning being tied to passions and relevant to life outside of school. Big fan of #geniushour to hit content standards in a meaningful way that adds value to the world while simultaneously honoring the passions of our learners.
#LearnLAP
A2: I care a LOT about early literacy - about making it meaningful and enjoyable for Ss and helping teachers feel equipped to lead their Ss! I share what I'm doing in my classroom, reading in PD books, and learning from conferences/my Twitter #PLN as often as possible! #LearnLAP
A2: Right now I care a LOT about giving a voice to the arts and their vital importance! Magic happens when they are used to help enrich the core concepts but they are being slashed left and right. I am using my voice to speak for the arts and keep them alive and well! #LearnLAP
Hoping to see the #LearnLAP crew tomorrow night for a going GLOBAL chat with the #champforkids fam! Excited to have @hayes_melisa lead us into the ring! ❤️❤️🥊❤️❤️
A2 I want to know my students as a whole person. I build relationships, attend extracurricular activities, tutor, and enjoy lunch with my kids. #LearnLAP
A2: showing kids there is more than just college. Too many good jobs that are going unfilled because folks aren't working them. This is not an anti college rant but giving kids choice to realize they dont need to go to college to find a job they love.
#LearnLAP
A2: I care so so much about the tranformative power of the ARTS for children and our world. I share daily with #K12ArtChat, podcast, (https://t.co/iJbJL36ayh) and by modeling it for teachers and admin. #learnlap
A2 Something I care an awful lot about is connecting with kids whether they be in special programs or in regular Ed. I do this by giving all that I have to make them feel amazing! #LearnLAP
A2 -
1. Helping students use more effective/efficient study methods.
2. Riding our profession of myths that do not help with learning, and in some cases, can be harmful...learning styles, the learning pyramid, left/right brain stuff, etc.
#LearnLAP
A2) Passionate about many things, but my current passion this year is digital student portfolios. We use Seesaw & it is amazing! I have shared pictures & info on it in my school's Google + group. #LearnLAP
A1: As the instructional leader, I try to make it fun for everyone. Not only students but also for staff. If teachers have fun, can you imagine students? #LearnLAP
A2: Creating relevant, authentic learning experiences for students. I like to share a lot: school social media, my social media, conferences, or collabing with colleagues! :) #learnlap
A2 I have really learned the role of Social and Emotional Learning—& think it’s is the most important aspect of effective teaching. Building relationships and meeting Ss SEL needs opens the pathway to learning. Just sharing approaches/best practices with colleagues. #learnLAP
A2: Equity, Access, & Representation. Connecting with others and working to raise the voices of learners and educators in building what education could be. #LearnLAP@amynicolebettis
A2: positive relationships w Ts and Ss, skill-based assessing, gamification bc of the diversification and autonomy that it allows; all of these go together, and I try to ask and listen about life outside school and lead by example for the benefits of the others #learnlap
A2. Ss to believe in themselves. For them to gain confidence in doing activities in learning, so that they can grow their wings and start to fly. #learnlap
A1: I try to find a game mechanic or something playful in every lesson we do. Whether it's adding a narrative, a quick mini-game, or a choice board, I try to give Ss something fun and unexpected #learnlap
A2 - Empowering the student voice through meaningful choices. Also, I’m a huge believer in early literacy, preschool, and Junior Kindergarten programs.
#LearnLAP
A2: I care an awful lot about teacher workload and effective teaching.
I let others know how implementing effective teaching strategies (spaced practice/retrieval practice/elaboration/etc) has reduced my workload
#learnlap
A2: I'm becoming more interested in student metacognition and goal setting. I've been blogging and tweeting about it--and hosting #formativechat next Monday about it! #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A2. I love to integrate technology into my teaching and learning strategies. Secondly I love to use a variety of strategies to enable and empower students to build their skill sets and provide them with #studentvoice and #studentagency .My Ss have the liberty to choose
A2: I care an awful lot about "purpose." I feel we lost our purpose in education. We need to know the WHY again and encourage our Ss to find their WHY. That passion we had as a child. We need that back. So I'm writing about this and may reach out to you & your WHY. #LearnLAP
A1
As the technology coach I get to visit all of the classrooms and I see so many fun ideas One of our teachers uses a meme of the day another has jokes and sayings all around her room about math some have really cute accessories like Emoji decorations & Star Wars decor #learnlap
A2: I'm trying to be a better listener. I've talked to many educators who are stressed and thinking of giving up. I try to coach/mentor and figure out ways to bring fun, hope, and a feeling of joy back in their lives. If they have that, then they can model joy for Ss. #LearnLAP
A3. I’m currently reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I can’t wait to read Educated by @tarawestover and The No Complaining Rule by @JonGordon11. #LearnLAP
A2: data, and data-informed conversations. It takes anything that is irrelevant out if the conversation and forces you to reflect on the things that matter most, the edu of the child. I model these conversations in our data meetings. #LearnLAP
A3: Slowly reading "Infernal Devices" from the Mortal Engines series. Got a new Star Wars book to read and per @moler3031 recommendation, I want to get a copy of #EduProtocols. #learnlap
A3: I'm currently reading Piecing Me Together by @reneewauthor and re-reading Curious Classroom by @smokeylit - just finished Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe by @borderpoet. My TBR pile is huge, but on top is Becoming by @MichelleObama. #LearnLAP
A2: Something I really care about besides our students is our community. Our community is very needy and needs lots of attention from our community leaders. To show we care, we do block walks with our staff, chat with our parents, and do home visits. #LearnLAP
A3: I am reading "Bringing Words to Life: Robust Vocabulary Instruction by Isabel Beck, Margaret G. McKeown, and Linda Kucan.
It is a game changer. Check it out.
https://t.co/8UQw3FI9mP#learnlap
A2: I feel strongly about Ts trying to find something to be excited about. With all the extraneous influences in our classrooms, it’s easy to become frustrated. Find your passion, continue your learning. That keeps Ts fresh!#LearnLAP
A3: I’m currently reading The New Art and Science of Teaching by @robertjmarzano. My to be read pile includes PBL Playbook and Shakeup Learning. #LearnLAP
A2: I want to provide help for Ts who don’t quite know where to go next. I film a vlog (https://t.co/5lxXU3Pzp3) and write a blog to share ideas of how to gamify, build relationships, and stay positive #learnlap
A3 Currently Reading Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead which is phenomenal. The waitlist includes Start with Why & Relationships, responsibility, and regulation. #LearnLAP
A3 After reading @tishrich blog over the weekend I just reread #tlap by @burgessdave and now getting back to #MLmagical with Ditch That Textbook and Innovators Mindset on deck #learnlap
A2 I care an awful lot about every student getting access to books they can and want to read. Choice is so critical for kids and robust classroom libraries are an absolute must! #learnlap
A3 Stack one - A student gifted me Happy Teachers Change the World: A Guide for Cultivating Mindfulness in Education. Stack two - Consider the Fork. Can you guess the two stacks? #LearnLAP
A2
I care about student's well-being and mindfulness
When we help them meet basic needs they perform better in school I sponsor a student government club that promotes food drives collects essential items and plans social activities like dances #learnlap
A2: Students. Seeing each student succeed in their own way. Simple! (And Making it so much fun that they wanna come back every day- even on Saturday’s!) #LearnLAP
A3: I have a big "to be read" stack. But I'm so into reading "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. Other books on my list are "Be Real" by @TaraMartinEDU, "The Pepper Effect" by @smgaillard and other wonderful @dbc_inc books. Plus a few detective thrillers. :o) #LearnLAP
What a gift you are to those people! I've been having similar conversations in my area - and I completely agree we need to bring the joy back for teachers so it can overflow that onto students. It's hard to make school FUN if you're not having fun/enjoying yourself. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A2. My students are my leaders . Choose the issues that they want to discuss and and we link them up with the historical events. Since we have a skill based curriculum it is easy to adapt to the global context which helps them build up their perspective for the subject
A3: Professionally, I'm reading "Be Real" by @TaraMartinEDU and "Make Learning Magical" is on my list. Personally, I'm reading "Remember God" #LearnLAP
A3: My wife, who happens to be the top performing principal at @LaredoISD@AlmaGonzalez, just read Educated by @tarawestover. She highly recommends this book so that’s my next book. #LearnLAP
A4 After reading #LearnLAP I skeptically tried giving Ss more say in where they sit w/peers It is now something that I base my routine upon, the more choice Ss get the more engaged they are!
A4: A classroom management strategy I didn't care for as a first year teacher was that it's more important to be respected than liked. However, I have since learned that if you are respected then respect and like do not have to be mutually exclusive either! #learnlap
EEEEK...honored to see Be REAL in the same tweet as Michelle Obama's book!
Can't wait to hear your thoughts, Barbara! ((hugs)) #REALedu#Learnlap#BookSnaps
Yes @amynicolebettis I want to be there for Ts when things are great and when they are not. I've been through a lot over the years but it seems like it's tougher now for Ts. We need to value each & every teacher, give them time, resources, and appreciate what they do. #LearnLap
What a gift you are to those people! I've been having similar conversations in my area - and I completely agree we need to bring the joy back for teachers so it can overflow that onto students. It's hard to make school FUN if you're not having fun/enjoying yourself. #LearnLAP
A4 I’m in ❤️ with writing in loose parts. My students are doing their brainstorming and writing on post it notes. They can rearrange or replace parts without rewriting everything #learnlap
A4: Integrating Genius Hour into kindergarten was something I had no idea how to do, but felt was important to try to develop for my Ss. After taking a chance on it, finding 6th grade buddies to help (thanks @paigeconley6th!), and watching what Ss can do - I LOVE IT! #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A3. These days I am reading a lot of blogs to understand how people Express themselves & develop a channel for thought processes. This is what I want to impart and inculcate in my students as well. It's interesting to see how podcasts &blogs impact thought processes.
A4: Conferencing students. I still don't like the amount of time it takes, but I love the connection I feel with my students when we're discussing their work rather than their grades #learnlap
A4: Allowing teachers to teach outside the box. At first I was hesitant and was rigid. After taking a risk on allowing more flexibility, our learning has gone up the roof and more learning is taking place. Our new motto is “whatever it takes!” #LearnLAP
A4 - I was blessed to have an RTI and PBIS culture so strong already in place at @Roosevelt_WSD
I can see the impact that these continual conversations on data, math , and literacy are to our school culture and student achievement.
#LearnLAP
A4: when I first did an #ironchef#eduprotocol I was unsure - it didn’t go well. But @jcorippo is great at responding to posts and offering suggestions. I relooked at the lesson, started small, and now Ss look forward to doing an #IronChef every week. #LearnLAP
A3: I am reading/listening to Extreme Ownership currently! Just finished Blink by Malcolm Gladwell and I believe I have Start with Why on tap next!
I love audio books while I work out or while I’m driving! #learnLAP
A4: I wasn’t sure about not grading homework (or formative assessments) and simply offering feedback instead. Although Ss mindsets also have to adapt to doing it as practice and not to “get” a grade, real benefits came out of the shift #learnlap
So true! I found an old paper that I wrote in 2013 about how Twitter just didn't seem to be a good fit for me..and now I know there's no better PD out there! #LearnLAP
A4
I began flipping my classroom 6 years ago I was not sure I was going to like it but by the time I perfected my version of it I was in love with it! Now that I am a technology coach I enjoy helping teachers figure out ways to flip their own classrooms as well #learnlap
A4. Teaching the Ss about circuitry. It's a very tricky subject, but found some great teaching materials for the Ss to make it easier to understand. #learnlap
A4: When I was teaching, I didn't want to "Let Go" -- I did. How amazing it was. I got it then (20 years ago) that ownership of learning needs to be in our kids' hands. Control. I was taught to control everything. When I let go, real learning happened. #LearnLAP
A4: Pretty much EVERYTHING I do now, I looked at sideways at first! My favorites are costumes, room transformations, tech integration, genius hour & having Ss lead & collaborate with me. I’m learning if I’m uncomfortable it’s likely going to be AWESOME #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A4. I was unsure of letting the students steer my classes I would believe what I had come prepared for, had to be delivered.of course I am still in charge of what happens but my students now feel more empowered & I am not threatened of relinquishing control.. it works
LOL, here's the problem. I can't even remember the title or author--it's more that I started it and have just decided to finish it but I'm not overwhelmed with the need to finish it yet... #learnlap
A5: what’s unique about me is I am an overly curious lifelong learner and question EVERYTHING...so my students have a teache rthat models what I hope they will do on their own one day #LearnLAP
A5 I don't see myself as a teacher of science, rather I facilitate Ss discovery of science #phenomenon This philosophy has made my classroom a shared learning space #LearnLAP
A5 I grew up like many of my students living in a single parent home. My dad worked graveyard. I can relate to their homelife and to their struggles. #LearnLAP
A5 I think I bring a genuiness that they don’t see—I truly embrace the #BeREAL@TaraMartinEDU discusses in her work. So genuine and unparalleled positivity #LearnLAP
A5: first generation: BA, masters, and PhD. I can walk the walk cuz I've been through it. I've navigated the pitfalls and come out the other side. I hope to be able to share my trials and tribulations to make their journey smoother.
#learnlap
A5: Well, I don't know if I would say "just right" but I'm silly. I love "fun" & making learning fun and the class experience joyful. Some teachers complained about me because of all the noise in my class. I didn't stop. Kids loved it. Being fun is "just right" #LearnLap
A5. My ability to be goofy. It’s not uncommon to find me dancing, joking around, or dressing in silly costumes. Here’s an example: https://t.co/Zhen6Vfg0N#LearnLAP
A5: I can be pretty goofy. I've rapped. I've done the running man. I've collapsed on the floor for dramatic effort. I try to always keep class relaxed, iinformal, and fun #learnlap
A2: My passion is getting others passionate about learning! I strive to share ideas, collaborate with other Ts & truly work HARD so my kids will LOVE & be empowered by learning! I’m gonna write a booK someday!😜 #LearnLAP
A5: in both the classroom and with Ts, I think my honesty and reflection about my experiences and willingness to listen to new ideas or suggestions has been a great help. None of us have it all together all the time no matter how pretty we make the package look. #learnlap
A5
I loved school & want my ss to love school as well I did not like missing school because I was very social and was always afraid I was missing out on something fun I want students to feel the same way about school Show up every day learn something new, and have fun! #learnlap
a5: I work in a school with learning difficulties and I have a learning difficulty. I help them figure out it is who they are and how to re-think their difficulty. #learnlap
#LearnLAP A5. I have my rules very clear and those are filtered right across to all students .There is no ambiguity in what my expectations are. However, we have a lot of fun going through the motions of the daily classroom interactions... The bottom line is no deadline is missed
A5: This is a fun question! I think the thing that makes me just right for my kids is my desire to make every kid I come in contact with smile. During our moment of silence each day, I pray that no matter the circumstance, I help give a kid a reason to smile. #LearnLAP
A6 To ensure #EducationalEquity I try to give all Ss a voice in the learning process. Ss feel relevant & validated when Ts listen & let Ss be part of the learning process #learnlap
I spend an inordinate amount of time teaching students confidence and self-advocacy. I think equity begins with ensuring that ALL students believe in themselves and strive for greatness, settling for nothing less than their best. #LearnLAP
A5: I wanted fun. I was the one. The joy I share. I do it because I care. - I decided to try writing my own quote in Dr. Seuss style. I'll add a little more later but just had to do it. #LearnLap
I spend an inordinate amount of time teaching students confidence and self-advocacy. I think equity begins with ensuring that ALL students believe in themselves and strive for greatness, settling for nothing less than their best. #LearnLAP
A6 My goal is to ensure my Ss have the tools each of them need to succeed. They might need extra time, review, tutoring, an extra hug, a positive note, extra tools, or all of the above. It is up to me to figure it out. #LearnLAP
A5: I’m mighty quirky, share my enthusiasm for just about EVERYTHING, and contantly strive to be better. I love learning & trying new things & I LOVE them, that’s all anyone can ask❤️#LearnLAP
A6
Build relationships wth students and their families
Don't jump to conclusions
Try not to judge
Give everyone a second chance... and a third and a fourth
Be kind
Lead by example
Be patient
And never stop believing that all of them can succeed!
#learnlap
A6: Equity is different than equality. Each student is unique and is different than every other Ss. Best way to ensure #equity is to get to know each Ss and how they learn best. Then encourage them to own and drive their learning with you as their guide. #LearnLap
A6: Equity is different than equality. Each student is unique and is different than every other Ss. Best way to ensure #equity is to get to know each Ss and how they learn best. Then encourage them to own and drive their learning with you as their guide. #LearnLap
A7 I believe my Ss catch the love of learning and the importance of having a #productivestruggle. They are always thanking me for teaching them something new. I love their hugs and passion of learning. #LearnLAP
A7 I hope, the value & necessity of strong classroom relationships ALL Ss matter & need advocates, when Ts value relationships Ss will reap the benefits #LearnLAP
A6: crunch some numbers to identify trends with highest performing students and gender/ socio-economic status. I want to make sure we don’t have any blind spots! #LearnLAP
A7: I put myself out there. Sometimes making a fool of myself but I encourage students/colleagues to share, to write, to draw, to publish. Each of us has something to say and give back. I encourage educators to connect on social media and share who to follow. #LearnLap
A6: As the principal, the learning & growing of every single child falls on me. Accountability is the only thing that cannot be delegated to anyone. Every child is measured for growth & every student will receive a one year’s growth of academic learning at our school. #LearnLAP
A7: each day at the beginning of class, my students recite our 4 Academic Mindset principles. The last they shout: I never give up!!! Teachers around me have taken notice and see how engaged the students are and many are starting to add those principles to their rooms! #LearnLAP
A7 I focus a great deal on tech integration. I hope that others are catching the power #edtech has in removing barriers for S learning and for making learning relevant. I also hope they see that tech needs to be integrated with purpose and intent. #learnLAP
A8: My #oneword is PIVOT. Lots of changes will be happening for my family this year and I want to keep one foot grounded in my beliefs, relationships, and peace as we shift/adapt through the change. #LearnLAP
A7: *Hopefully* they're catching an enthusiasm for being authentic in the classroom. I love my students and my job and do my best to make sure they know that. Positivity matters. Even when you have to fake it at times. #LearnLAP
A7: I sure hope they catch optimism, love, compassion, kindness and respect from me! I’d love others to catch my zest for teaching & innovation. #LearnLAP
My One Word for 2019 #oneword2019 is Possibilities. https://t.co/M98LOhA4tn … The world needs children to consider all the possibilities they can have for their future and to help them make what may seem impossible, possible. #LearnLap
A8: I have chosen my #OneWord2019... 🥁🥁 #Discipline. I chose #Discipline because I am going to strive to increase my skills as an Instructional Facilitator, focus on maintaining healthier habits, and overall living a more disciplined life! #LearnLAP

#LearnLAP
I'm late to the #LearnLAP chat, but loved the Dr. Seuss theme enough to jump in. It's also my first chat!
I've learned so much from the LeadLAP community already -- excited to keep learning!
My pick: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
A2: I care deeply about using basketball as a tool to help my Student-Athletes gain the mindset & confidence needed to succeed in life.
1 way we do it: have Film Study 2-3x per week, and view clips like this Brad Stevens piece on @DweckCarol#LearnLAP
A4: A station-based, rotational model to teach Math. Was rec'd to me in Year 1; like most great ideas I ignored it at first. Even though I no longer utilize this model, it saved my teaching career in Years 2-3.
Helped me see relationships with Ss was key to learning. #LearnLAP
A8 "Don't give up; don't ever give up! The #JimmyV philosophy! It may take a while & show scars of mistakes & missteps, but #persevere through the struggle #LearnLAP
