A1: passion projects! The things that fill up my bucket like organizing @EdCampHCPS aren’t part of my actual job. I have to make time for things that keep it 🔥🔥 #hcpsteach
A1: For me, my passion for teaching and working in education comes from my passion for learning. It is an infinite cycle and I want others to find the same fulfillment in their quest for learning. #HCPSTeach
A1. By focusing on the relationships that I have built with my students. Knowing that I can make a difference in how they feel towards Algebra #hcpsteach
A1: always view school from a Ss perspective & be an invigorating learner who passionately shares & grow as a teacher...Ts who have enthusiasm & continuously learn always have passion #HCPSTeach
A1: Surround myself with amazing teachers who share the same passion I have AND go through my box of letters from students when I have "one of those days" #hcpsteach
A1: For me, my passion for teaching and working in education comes from my passion for learning. It is an infinite cycle and I want others to find the same fulfillment in their quest for learning. #hcpsteach
A1: Love incorporating new ideas and tech! Always learning and trying new, cool ideas I learn! Ts gotta be excited too! Also love working with interns! Love their excitement! Love the kiddos & older ones! 💜 #HCPSTeach
A1: Honestly, I stay passionate by constantly trying to find ways to connect with my students because my role is to not only teach, it is to also collaborate with them and make their learning space meaningful and engaging; i.e. https://t.co/mU4PfgkZLy projects. #HCPSTeach
A2 ... New this year for me was standards-based teaching -- so I love the process of teaching to standards first ... helps my focus with my students. :) #HCPSTeach
A2: I love having students use rubrics to peer evaluate and peer edit. Anything to do with students thinking about writing and having to continuously improve... I’m as equally immersed in the lesson as the kids! #HCPSTeach
A2: former marketing Ts...toss up, enjoyed interviewing skills & 4’s, knew it bc you could hear laughter & watch Ss w/hands on activities & PBL in action #HCPSTeach
A2: You can see my passion when I take a standard lesson and integrate things to make them nonstandard. i.e. A Valentine's Day card that Antigone writes to Haemon or Creon with sugar skull printables to color! Ss had so much fun today (and my Ss are SO funny)! #HCPSTeach
A2: Just finished a lesson on exponential growth/decay. Tied it to mortgages, carbon dating, forensics(NCIS). Ss totally engaged and I couldn't stop talking. So fun! #hcpsteach
A3: teaching has great moments every day! For me, the best moments are when past Ss reach out to you to tell you that you made a difference. Or when they run up to you at a store & are so excited to see you! And of course, when you help them learn to love reading! #HCPSteach
A3 ... Set of twins I mentored -- 1 graduated, the other is a 5th year senior -- everytime they see me, they bear hug me in thanks for helping them across the stage! #HCPSTeach
A3: So many :) Most recently had a former Ss younger sister stop by and tell me that her sister wanted me to know she was majoring in education and my passion was the reason why. So humbling. #payitforward#hcpsteach
A3: hearing from a former Ss who thanked me for being involved & caring when it seemed no one else did...teaching impacts lives & I was blessed to know I was remembered as a positive impact #hcpsteach
My greatest success stories in education were only made possible because of the teachers who believed in me...both as a student and as a fellow teacher. #hcpsteach#mentoringmatters
A3: My greatest success story isn’t mine at all. It belongs to a group of students who wanted to change their school for the better and year after year they let me play along with them. I was in the midst of servant leaders. #hcpsteach
A4: I love The Giver and 1984. Dystopian novels are my absolute favorite. I think we have to remind ourselves that our favorite genre is not necessarily our kids’ favorite. We have to expose them to a wide variety of literary texts & find a way to be passionate! #HCPSteach
A4 I LOVE teaching To Kill a Mockingbird -- so many life lessons -- history may be ugly, but we discuss it so that we can learn how NOT to repeat it. #HCPSTeach
A4: I use to love teaching Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes and the Tale of Genji. Not faves like Things Fall Apart were made faves with connections to current society. #hcpsteach
A4: I'm lucky because I have too much content that I love and not enough time to teach it. If there was something I didn't enjoy I'd ask the kids how best to teach it and see what they come up with. They know what works and are creative in ways I can't imagine. #HCPSTeach
A4: I don’t have any one thing in particular but I LOVE the excitementof integrating technology to any content K-12 & watching the Ss excitement as they “play” while learning keeps me smiling, content I didn’t like became made me enthusiastic if I made it fun #hcpsteach
A4: My favorite content to teach is social media safety. I worked it in to my required computer safety unit. It always created teachable moments, real conversations, and healthy dialogue between me and my kids. #hcpsteach
A4: I don’t have any one thing in particular but I LOVE the excitementof integrating technology to any content K-12 & watching the Ss excitement as they “play” while learning keeps me smiling, content I didn’t like became made me enthusiastic if I made it fun #hcpsteach
A4: I absolutely love "Things Fall Apart" but it seems that 90% of Ss do not enjoy it. This year, it is on! We will be making Igbo masks, exploring Igbo artifacts via @htcvive, using actual Igbo instruments, and (a dream) is to have Nigerian food catered! #HCPSTeach
I love any type of PD that is easily transferable to the classroom. Two PDs my teachers have had this year are Quick Writes & Seating Chart Formative Assessment. Both are easy to enact in the classroom. I’m also obsessed with Learning Walks! #hcpsteach
A5: Hands down - Jostens Renaissance National Conference. It’s my fav because it is educators AND students all discussing how to improve all aspects of schools. The student voice fills the hearts of every educator there. @J_Renaissance#JRNC#HCPSTeach
A5: My favorite PD was @EdCampHCPS. Loved that it was tailored specifically to us and what we wanted to learn. Great time brainstorming with awesome educators all day and taking home SO many ideas. A must do! #hcpsteach
A5: hands on, no sit’n’git, I want to experience learning...went to space camp for team building & loved bldg/launching rocket, building a heat shield for our egg, taking a “shuttle” to space with the crew #hcpsteach
This is so relevant and it rocks that your 6th-graders are into the discussion. Many of my 10th-graders are also passionate about it and it is heartening to see them care so deeply. #HCPSTeach
A5: Grad. schools seems to have consumed my life, LOL! Yet, I am reminded of Mark Twain's saying: “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” This is definitely applicable to learning that engages and inspires you! #HCPSTeach
Q6 Consider the "Passion of Teaching" ... the elevator pitch that inspires you each year / month / week /day ... What would be your Passion Statement? #HCPSTeach
A5: I miss EdCamps...so much fun and the Ts who go are so inspiring because they are so engaged, passionate, and willing to support and collaborate! Truly welcoming hearts! #HCPSTeach
A6 In the words of Nelson Mandela "Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world." I am a change-agent ... I have a passion for helping students believe in themselves. #HCPSTeach
A6: It'll be years before my salary is near what I left behind when I became a teacher. I wouldn't trade it for anything. My worst day as a teacher still gives me pride that makes me smile like the first day. #HCPSTeach
A6: there is nothing like passing on the love of learning. Teach from your heart. It is the only way to transfer your passion to your students and hopefully ignite a never ending quest for learning! #HCPSTeach
A6: I teach because I love CTE and I love kids. Teaching is the only way I can merge my two ❤️s into one. Teaching is my passion because when I dedicate myself to filling the cups & enriching the lives of others, they repay the favor ten fold. #HCPSTeach
