A1 Today I delivered a lesson on events leading to the Civil War. Students were asked to fill out a GO but had a variety of methods to get the info: readings, videos, self research. All delivered via @Onenote#FCSVanguard
Hey everyone. Christian. Co- Lead for SLC/AZ and new members. Right now getting ready to meet my run group. Excited about the convo tonight too #FCSVanguard
A1: #fcsvanguard You have to make sure students have opportunities to flourish with the device. Ex: If they have no internet access, then think of ways students can they use technology to enhance your original idea without it being a negative situation.
A1: as a 1st grade teacher, I find software with read aloud options to be an incredible way to make content accessible to all learners in my classroom. My kids love #pebblego- has reading capabilities, photos and videos for every topic #FCSVanguard
A1: It is important to offer various opportunities for scholars be able to use #EdTech based upon their specific needs and circumstances. Scholars can use their one-to-one device, Media resources, and personal tools (Mobile devices) #FCSVanguard
A1 knowing your students, keeping track of any accommodations they may have and planning ahead helps ensure that we are meeting our students needs. #fcsvanguard
A1: I teach K-5 so I have to use various tech tools to engage them, deliver content, get feedback, and to produce products. Depending on the complexity of the project I use trial and error to see what the students are interested and are able to do. #fcsvanguard
A1: I’ve really been able to leverage technology this year with my ESOL students. This has been the first year communication has been THIS difficult and tech only has helped us communicate as well as help them learn and feel more confident. #FCSVanguard
A1: as a 5th grade teacher, we use iReady Math daily and then the students use flocabulary and BrainPOP to learn more about our content for homework. #FCSvanguard
A1: google classroom is a great way for me to post different assignment and links for students to access. Also gives them different ways to show their work! #fcsvanguard
A1: as a 1st grade teacher, I find software with read aloud options to be an incredible way to make content accessible to all learners in my classroom. My kids love #pebblego- has reading capabilities, photos and videos for every topic #FCSVanguard
A2: I use examview to deliver both formative and summative assessments. All questions are tagged with standards. We can then use the program to run reports to see how students are doing on standards and substandards. Also can track the new Prioritized standards. #fcsvanguard
With the use of Google Sites and OneNote I am able to post video of mini lessons for students to review or use with Flipped Classroom. My favorite is watching Ss collaboration in OneNote #FCSVanguard
A1 I like to use Britannica Elementary School edition. The text is leveled, it is available to be read aloud, includes pictures, videos and other graphics. AND can translate in other languages. #FCSVanguard#CLCRocks
#fcsvanguard A2: You have to use quick assessments such as exit tickets, traditional q&a, and formal assessments. You can also use project based assignments with a rubric. Rubrics provide a lot of hidden evidence and helps students realize expectations.
A2: This was one of my favorites. After my (mini) lesson, I would give the students a quick formative in Google Forms that would be instantly auto-graded. That sets you up to do rotations, small groups, etc. #FCSVanguard
A2. Looking for ideas. I use a lot of online programs that assess reading levels and I use Forms sometimes, but I’d like to get better about using it for smaller ones like exit tickets . It just seems time consuming to do only as an exit ticket. #FCSVanguard
Dr Fingall from McClarin HS A1: I really enjoy using office 365 to encourage collaborative work with my students. Many of them have embraced Sway and its presentation benefits. I also like to use Edmodo for creation of small groups for differentiation. #fcsvanguard
A2: so many options for assessing learning these days! My go to’s: Personalized assignments (and data) with iReady, customized quizizz assessments, videos with questions after on @brainpop and embedded questions in @nearpod!! #FCSVanguard
A2: #FCSVanguard FlipGrid is a favorite of mine. Listening to the students talk through what they learned, it’s like I am able to see the wheels turning and light bulb come on.
A2: frequent assessments using google forms or QUIA. We’ve introduced mini quizzes this year throughout our units and student achievement on summatives has gone way ⬆️⬆️ #fcsvanguard
A2: looking at data from the programs and assessments we do gives me a good indication of where students are at. I also like to use Seesaw to get a snapshot of things the students do each day. #FCSVanguard
A2: I like to use google forms to get quick thoughts about the lesson, for reflections about what they understood, or need more support with, or simply to monitor what they feel that got out of their learning #fcsvanguard
A2: I like to deliver quick formative assessments with something that will grade itself (Microsoft Forms, Kahoot, Quizizz, etc) then create stations and follow up activities students will go to immediately after receiving their results. #FCSVanguard
A2: I enjoy the ease of viewing reports to assess students formatively and also for summative assessments. 2 wks ago students were excited about the opportunity I gave them to use Microsoft form quiz to actually create a unit assessment which I promised I would used #fcsvanguard
A2. Again previously I’ve had a section in their OneNote labeled portfolio, where they insert lesson synthesis/summative activities and receive feedback, but this year I’ve started using @classcraftgame !! My students Love it! #fcsvanguard
A3: I use #edtech to utilize student choice and voice by offering several options to show what they know like #office365 tools and students can submit BrainPOP videos that they have made to show that they have learned the content taught #FCSvanguard
A2: We use illuminate for formative and summative assessments @BearCreekMS . The standards are attached to each question. We have a wide variation of report and ways to customize our reports to accurately evaluate our data. #FCSVanguard#AllBearCreek
A3: #FCSvanguard Teams and One Note are great for this. You can post a variety of reading materials or information on various topics for students to choose from.
A2: I keep a visible running list of the #EdTech that my scholars have been exposed to, and I also invite them to present/ share new tools that they discover. My scholars choose the #EdTech that they feel is best for demonstrating their understanding. #FCSVanguard
A3 I used Random Picker today. I gave the students the opportunity to spin the spinner to divide into groups. It may not be much on the Voice & Choice topic but they had fun and enjoyed the spinner. It was better than me assigning them into groups. #FCSVanguard#CLCRocks
A2: So many options out there for formative and summative assessing. I have a simple “learning log” tab in One Note I often use for exit tickets. Go formative, iReady, etc. I really like quizziz for the spread sheet you can pull and can get at a glance data. #FCSVanguard
A3: #fcsvanguard This can be a challenge. I have seen teachers use choice grids effectively with several options for students to choose from. There are opportunities to create things that are unusual with Maker Stations. Even small choices are good.
A3 Seesaw is a great tool that gives the students a choice in how they want to show what they know. It is also great to use it as a teaching tool to reinforce skills. #FCSVanguard
@ABCyaGames has a great site for drawing and publishing for the littles. It allows my kids to share their voice in a safe, low stakes environment. We have been using this to help support our #PBIS initiatives- kids are creating their own signs about #the Ocee way! #FCSVanguard
A3 I like to create a SAFARI Montage playlist and let students choose which video they want to watch to learn more about a topic. #fcsvanguard#choiceandvoice
I tried Socrative for the first time with 3rd graders and they LOVED it! #seesaw and #flipgrid also great options so they can go back and refine answers as well as view other responses. #FCSVanguard
A3: I also use qr codes for choices during my reading workshop time. Kids can choose different leveled texts about different topics to read online. (Shoutout to @kstephens622 for providing them to me!!!) #FCSVanguard
A2: I use examview to deliver both formative and summative assessments. All questions are tagged with standards. We can then use the program to run reports to see how students are doing on standards and substandards. Also can track the new Prioritized standards. #fcsvanguard
A3. I’ve always given options, but recently I’ve noticed EXPOSURE is just as important. PowerPoint and Sway aren’t the only tech tools available, but are often their go 2 due to comfort. I’m most impressed when my students ask to use a tech tool I’m unfamiliar with! #fcsvanguard
A3: I love that Launchpad has so many options. It is an easy place for students to access different “apps” that they can use. This has been helpful in giving theme choice and voice in many ways. For example, how they choose to do research topics. #FCSVanguard
Dr. Fingall. A3: I provide students with a tool box of edtech tools and allow them to select their tool of choice to demonstrate their understanding. They love the option to create assignments with multimodal tools Sway, Gliffy, poppet, screencastomatic and weebly #fcsvanguard
Mini-Lessons and other multi-media resources are certainly a favorite for me! I even use them for substitutes to run my music class when I'm gone. (It's like I never left!) @TouchCastEdu & @nearpod are my favorite tools for this type of instructional delivery. #FCSVanguard
With the use of Google Sites and OneNote I am able to post video of mini lessons for students to review or use with Flipped Classroom. My favorite is watching Ss collaboration in OneNote #FCSVanguard
A3: Stu Voice & Choice has been an area that I try to make more intentional. I tend to use more stu choice b/c majority of my Ss haven’t been exposed to enough tools to actively voice what they want to use. Trying to change that. My #1 one tool for this is #flipgrid. #fcsvanguard
A3: To piggyback, for me it is as simple as instructions presented in different ways and whether the students want good old paper options or digital versions. #FCSVanguard
A4: students who are proud of their work and post video to seesaw to share what they’ve learned. When they can explain their thinking and you can hear their process, so powerful! #FCSVanguard
@edmodo is a great resource for small group collaboration! So glad to see it used for transformational instructional practice in classrooms!
A4: Observations and Projects are my personal favorites. However, the current trend is formal/standardized testing. As an educator, mastery should come in many forms! I prefer the former. #fcsvanguard
A4: I use @quizizz for pre & post assessments when introducing and assessing project content. They love seeing their progress from start to finish...they love the really cool memes too! #fcsvanguard
My kids feel SO COOL when they get to use things on their launchpad- they love it! And I love that it makes accessing school programs so much easier!! #FCSVanguard
A4: my favorite way for students to show mastery is through teaching others. They can create an anchor chart, create an assessment I love this because it shows that students understand also allows them to take ownership of learning #FCSvanguard
A3: it’s so much easier to have different assignments that address different learning styles with #EdTech. From @nearpod to the #gsuite abs beyond, there are so many opportunities for students to choose their path. #fcsvanguard
A4: I think my favorite things are yet to come! We had a planning day today and listening and watching my team develop great ways to show standard mastery was so exciting! 🤗 I can’t wait to see it come to fruition. #FCSVanguard
A4: our habitats of Georgia project. Students are able to choose the type of project they want to do on their habitat and my students creativity comes out! I’ve gotten dioramas, videos, posters, slideshows. It really gets them excited about learning! #fcsvanguard
@Seesaw is on my list of "go tos". It is twofold. It offers a peek into student understanding and a wonderful communication resource with parents/family members. #fcsvanguard
A2: looking at data from the programs and assessments we do gives me a good indication of where students are at. I also like to use Seesaw to get a snapshot of things the students do each day. #FCSVanguard
A4: I once had a girl cry in class at the end of Of Mice and Men. Not sure that counts as mastery of anything, but I was thrilled that she was so moved by a text. #FCSvanguard
A5: Using Microsoft Teams to deliver assignments allows me to give students everything they need to move at their own pace. They have all the materials, readings, and instructions to schedule their week to get things done by the due date. #FCSVanguard
A4 I agree! Students teaching others is such a great way to show what they know and to see if they’ve mastered the concept. Giving the students a choice in how they want to show what they know also helps to show their understanding. #fcsvanguard
A4: #FCSvanguard If I could find a way to leverage tech to help more of my students have an emotional reaction like that, I'd be thrilled. Working on text choice for that...
A4: I prefer assessing students mastery through discussions, agames, and lab activities because it’s low key fun and students don’t feel stress or as much pressure to select the correct answer. @BearCreekMS@FCSVanguard#fcsvanguard
A5: Students need enrichment I opportunities. I love when students can move ahead & start previewing new topics. That act is enriching for this teacher. Blendspace is one way of many for students to be ahead of their peers with certain topics. #fcsvanguard
I love using #nearpod for student paced lessons. They can repeat the lesson if they need more practice or I usually have an extended lesson if they need more complex content. #FCSvanguard
A5 That’s the great thing about technology and personalized learning. Students can learn at their own pace, be enriched, or be re-taught using the online tools and devices. #fcsvanguard
A5 - FVS uses @EdgenuityInc which lets students move at a pace that they feel comfortable with while keeping them on track to progress in their course #fcsvanguard
Q5: @nearpod is my to for this! I love that you can utile live lessons and self paced lessons. I love that you can assign lessons for specific groups in various ways. All the ways they can respond too...It’s just my jam! #fcsvanguard
A5: I can assign different activities to students through iReady, Google classroom, or Seesaw, based on where a student is. I plan on creating progression activities this year so students can move on when they are ready #fcsvanguard
Q-4 For me, the best mastery-based products are those where students had a choice in how to show what they know. Of course a rubric sets the expectations. #FCSVanguard
A5: #FCSvanguard Devices and tech make this much easier to plan than ever before; however, I've found that it can be difficult to manage once the students are working on different things. I end up running around like a chicken without a head. Any advice?
A4: PROJECTS/PRESENTATIONS! They are engaging esp if you let the kids choose how. Some will surprise you! Others can be taught a new tool (by you or a peer). Most of the kids are hams and want to talk- if not, show them a tool like Adobe video! #FCSVanguard
A3: I use EdTech to enhance teachers opportunities through the use of Padlet, PowerPoint Mix, and Google Forms....all that upholds blended learning #fcsvanguard
A5: We do something really cool in math where we use flowcharts and videos we make for students to move through standards at their own pace. #FCSVanguard
Neat! Were you using Microsoft Class Notebook with the portfolio page? I'd love to hear more about @classcraftgame! Do you have a link to the resource? #fcsvanguard
A2. Again previously I’ve had a section in their OneNote labeled portfolio, where they insert lesson synthesis/summative activities and receive feedback, but this year I’ve started using @classcraftgame !! My students Love it! #fcsvanguard
A2: I like to use google forms to get quick thoughts about the lesson, for reflections about what they understood, or need more support with, or simply to monitor what they feel that got out of their learning #fcsvanguard
A5: iRead and iReady allow my students to work on targeted skills at their own pace! I also love @nearpod for allowing students to work on a more generalized lesson at their own pace! #FCSVanguard
A4: Great question!! One student created a lego story using iPad app and legos to explain the battle at Fort Pulaski and another created an iMovie trailer for their solution to a creative problem solving dilemma. #FCSVanguard
A3: Stu Voice & Choice has been an area that I try to make more intentional. I tend to use more stu choice b/c majority of my Ss haven’t been exposed to enough tools to actively voice what they want to use. Trying to change that. #1 one tool for this is #flipgrid. #fcsvanguard
Q6: #FCSvanguard I'm working on having my students set a small goal each class period. It can be content-based, process, or behavioral. At the end they check back and see if they met the goal and why/why not.
A5: BlendSpaceis an easy way to support flexible pacing. Students could move through one playlist in their own time, or have a playlist for different groups. So easy to use! #fcsvanguard
A6: Students can be involved in the process early, They can help plan what their challenging topics are and the teacher can help them reach those goals. It could be remedial or looking ahead. #fcsvanguard
"Even small choices are good". I think people need to hear that sometimes! Thank you @csuttoneducator. I also believe in the power of controlled choice as well. #fcsvanguard

A6: in kindergarten Ss planned on paper but then recorded in seesaw. On Friday’s, Ss wrote about something they did well and a goal they had for the next week. They recorded on seesaw. #FCSVanguard
A4: I use @quizizz for pre & post assessments when introducing and assessing project content. They love seeing their progress from start to finish...they love the really cool memes too! #fcsvanguard
A6 Seesaw is a great took for students to use to reflect and show growth on their goals. They can take a picture of a goal they accomplished, record themselves explaining how they accomplished a goal, and/or write about how they accomplished a goal. #fcsvanguard
Q5: @nearpod is my to for this! I love that you can utile live lessons and self paced lessons. I love that you can assign lessons for specific groups in various ways. All the ways they can respond too...It’s just my jam! #fcsvanguard
When reviewing any type of data with my Ss, we set 5 goals based off the data. If we (cause it’s a team effort) reach 3/5 goals, we have a Goal party day. Reflection is a huge part of this process. Goals are projected every morning as a reminder along the warmup #FCSVanguard
Q5: My new fave enrichment is DBQ online. I like to have everything ready to go in One Note so students can pace themselves. I can monitor and will pull students when needed. #FCSVanguard
A6: We talk a lot about goals, but we need to do a better job of recording and following through on it. Looking forward to getting ideas from other people! #FCSVanguard
#fcsvanguard A6: this year I plan on using online student portfolios for students to show their work, reflect, and set new goals. My hope is to use them in student-led parent conferences!
A5. I always have extension activities for students who have time to go further or want to on their own time, which is great when I’m not quite ready for everyone to move completely on to next topic. @classcraftgame has learning paths you can create! #FCSVanguard
Q-6 I plan to try having students post their goals to Padlet with a few steps that will help them reach their goals. Then they can go back and revisit. #coplanlearning#FCSVanguard
@DaBeautynTeachn Love it! "EXPOSURE is just as important" to include when considering choice options. Love that you are willing to allow the students to explore! #fcsvanguard

A6: my students write our research questions for every science and social studies unit. These questions guide our lessons over the course of the unit, and we use various forms of #edtech to investigate our different questions... safari montage, pebblego, @brainpop#FCSVanguard
A7: Ss demonstrate mastery by teaching others and explaining their own thinking in seesaw. Best thing ever is to hear their explanations of how they solved a math problem! #FCSVanguard
#fcsvanguard A7: using different types of assessments, online or on paper. Encouraging project based assessment, especially in science and social studies
A6: our teachers allow students data and expectation conferences to drive the planning and setting of learning goals. Teachers have data meetings and some have students enter their data in excel to develop graphs. #fcsvanguard
A7: #FCSvanguard I teach ESOL/ELA, so a lot of our assessments are writing, even for reading comprehension questions. Now I'm having students turn in writing online, although I really want to be use the conversation features on Teams more creatively.
A6. This is a Work In Progress! I’ve started a section for reflections in their OneNote and created a grid and scale, but still tweaking... #FCSVanguard
A7 In order to assess students’ learning I give them choices for how they want to show me that they have mastered the content. Giving them a choice really allows them to take ownership of their learning and share what they know. #FCSVanguard
Q4: My students love having a choice to demonstrate mastery. A few current favorites are Sway, Discovery Education Board Maker, Flip Grid, and Educreations
All are great tools to create products that allow my K-5 students to synthesize learning.
#FCSVanguard
A4: After taking Illuminate assessments, I have my students review the assessment and complete a reflection sheet so they know what standards/DOK Levels they have mastered or are struggling with. They are empowered with the knowledge of their mastery! #FCSVanguard
A7: Right now we are focused on assessments. We use them all Fast Bridge, iReady, and Illuminate. We also use @goformative for that quick feedback. Uploading various assessment types for variety. #FCSVANGUARD
A7: #FCSvanguard Yes! I went to an Illuminate training this summer and thought it was great, but it has not been at the forefront of my mind since school started. Thanks for the reminder about this resource!
A6: I 💕 stations teaching, flip classroom, and giving students (whose mastered the cont and feel comfortable) the opportunity to teach other. #FCSVanguard@BearCreekMS#AllBearCreek
A7: It's powerful to hear a student record and explain their thinking. Shows true mastery when they currently verbalize what they have learned. Step it up by having them teach another student. #fcsvanguard
A7: In PBL I use project reflection rubrics where they can show what they know by using various prompts and ways to provide feedback, depending on the grade I use different things. I want to know more of what others do or use. #fcsvanguard
Thank you for joining our #FCSVanguard chat tonight! We have shared a lot of great ideas and resources to support the implementation of #personalizedlearning
A4: students who are proud of their work and post video to seesaw to share what they’ve learned. When they can explain their thinking and you can hear their process, so powerful! #FCSVanguard
@MsBeardsClass Dr Fingall A4: I also like to use Padlet especially at the beginning of the year to engage the more shy students- this way each student has a voice #FCSVanguard
