A2: You can rhyme words in any subject!

A1: Hoping to read some famous Poems - like my fav: Midnight Ride of Paul Revere! (and others)
The Ss were encouraged to rewrite their own lyrics & will be recording their songs soon. Many more vids to come!
A2: I think integrating current music is one of the best ways to break down the poetry door for kids

Some of my poetry writing favorite are b/w shadow pics, S's create a shadow they like I snap a pic and they write the poem.

A6: Acrostics are simple and get them warmed up because they don’t have to rhyme. Showing different kinds of poetry is important.
Another favorite is based on the book, The Best Part of Me. Again, I use B/W pics. They do a who I am poem.

Q7: Which of these forms of poetry do you like to share w/ your Ss and why? Limericks, BioPoem, Haiku, Acrostics, others?
No doubt the kids love figuring those out instead of just being told the info. They are invested then.
we also did a March Madness poetry tournament last month. I introduced a variety of poems. Famous poets, one was from he late 1700

A7: Share those, but I getaway from them w/ Ss. Try to get deeper and more freeing. Often they arrive too bound to rhyme.
TY, Nancy! Many times the answer isn't revealed for a day or so, so they come in daily with ideas/answers
A:7 D all the above and more. I keep it wide open and have them notice and decide which poetry speaks to them
