A1: the words "student control." #INeLearn
    In reply to @MediaSpecJess
  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:09 PM EST
R1. Student control excites me. They need ownership. This, after all, is their education. #INeLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:10 PM EST
The last part about student control. It solves the relevance problems and Ts are talented enough to connect the standards to student interests and passions #inelearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: I am all about student pace and path! My own 2nd grader would eat up having control of her learning pathway! #inelearn
  • BBrosman Nov 9 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: "student control" being able to give students choices with regards to their own learning. #INeLearn
  • SarahWidner1 Nov 9 @ 9:10 PM EST
Q1: This excites me because of online learning and student control. My students love to have the Ipad in their hands. #INeLearn
  • ToddShriver Nov 9 @ 9:11 PM EST
#inelearn A1 moving Ts towards facilitators and letting Ss become creators and collaborators in their learning. We need to provide information but allow Ss to look at I️t and develop their own theories and ideas.
  • blhelman Nov 9 @ 9:11 PM EST
R1: Students get to take ownership of their learning and can learn at their own pace #INelearn
  • krismarley12 Nov 9 @ 9:11 PM EST
A1: has the be the control over pace. I was always racing to be finish first in school... not the best, the first. #inelearn
  • north_posey_art Nov 9 @ 9:12 PM EST
R1 Student control, especially over path. We've all arrived here by following different paths. Why would we expect anything different from learners?#inelearn
  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:12 PM EST
R1:I love the idea of student control. The more they are interested in what they are learning the more likely they will build a love for learning. #INeLearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:12 PM EST
This is so true! If we give them the power, they will most likely surprise us! #inelearn
    In reply to @ToddShriver
  • mafuson Nov 9 @ 9:13 PM EST
Hi everyone. Mark, tech coach at Franklin Township checking in late #INeLearn
  • Hoosier_Hatchet Nov 9 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1 - like the idea of student control to create that student ownership of one's learning. Tech can support student curiosity, creativity, etc. #inelearn
  • jnmev Nov 9 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1 Growing with students instead of telling them how they should grow #INeLearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:14 PM EST
So here is Q2! #inelearn Flipping the question a little!
  • MelissaWalley Nov 9 @ 9:15 PM EST
Hello! I'm the Instructional Technology Coach for Hanover Community Schools. (NWIndiana) #inelearn
  • BBrosman Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2: "student control"....again. It's hard sometimes to feel like you are not in control. #INeLearn
  • SarahWidner1 Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
Q2: The same thing that makes me excited also makes me scared. Giving students control and taking that leap into online learning #INeLearn
  • MelissaWalley Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A1 Blended learning is exciting bc of opportunities for student voice and choice in learning. Personalization is key! #inelearn
  • mafuson Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
I have aa teacher building her first @CanvasLMS course around this concept using mastery pathways #INeLearn
  • jnmev Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2 giving control of their path is scary. It's a lot of different "paths" to manage #INeLearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2: What overwhelms me is the actual HOW of this idea. Especially in primary grades. I see it being so powerful though! #inelearn
  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
R2: the broadness of 'online learning' so many options on how to do this. I get overwhelmed with figuring out programs, LMS, software, social media...#INelearn
  • mrg_3 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
R1 The ability to personalize learning and essentially duplicating yourself as the teacher is pretty cool #INeLearn
  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
R2. I'm not sure overwhelm is the word I would use, but it might be calculating the time I would need to invest in learning the online platform & then hoping that platform doesn't become obsolete or changes, or costs more money or... #INeLearn
  • north_posey_art Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
R3 The possible use of the word "and" instead of "or." Student choice is a beautiful thing. But student choice over all aspects of learning can be a bit overwhelming. #inelearn
  • risky4 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
R2: Not so much overwhelming as empowering. #INeLearn
  • krismarley12 Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
A2: the place part is what overwhelms me #inelearn
  • mmlashure Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
A2 Pace, I want students to work at their own pace through mastery learning but test demands limit time for this. #INeLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
R2: Overwhelming is too strong, but the anxiety for Ts about adapting their teaching style and focus is real. Too many haven't grasp the idea that if we don't adapt (and quickly) our current educational reality will end. #inelearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:18 PM EST
I agree. Is there value it choosing a couple to really master/do well? #inelearn
    In reply to @mrsd_us_history
  • mrg_3 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:18 PM EST
R2 What's overwhelming is the idea of undoing what school means! How do we get Ss and their Ps onboard with the shift? #INeLearn
  • blhelman Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
R2: Implementing new strategies when Im not entirely confident with the technology yet #INelearn
  • jnmev Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
    Ha! I wish. #INeLearn
    In reply to @MediaSpecJess
  • lrbrazil Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
A2 Pace. It's a whole new world of planning when kids are all in different stages of progress. It's good for them, but major shift for teachers #INeLearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
I see what you mean, investment and then new tech... is the juice worth the squeeze? #inelearn
    In reply to @hselibrarydude
  • libraryedtech Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
A2 formal ed program, still need to follow standard curriculum #inelearn
  • AHSblaz Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
#inelearn R2 control over time...Ss need to not stretch time frame too much
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:19 PM EST
    Q3 here we go! #inelearn
  • mafuson Nov 9 @ 9:20 PM EST
A1: I think student control is difficult for Ts, because it is so foreign to us. Not many of us ever had much choice in our learning other than whether or not take AP courses #INeLearn
  • BBrosman Nov 9 @ 9:21 PM EST
    A3 I don't feel successful yet in blended learning. #growthmindset #INeLearn
  • mmlashure Nov 9 @ 9:21 PM EST
I do not have the tech to have blended learning. #INeLearn
  • jnmev Nov 9 @ 9:21 PM EST
A3 Our admin really trusts us and empowers us to take risks. It helps a lot! #INeLearn
  • risky4 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:21 PM EST
R3: We are just beginning to dip our feet into that blended pool! #INeLearn
  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:21 PM EST
R3: Using it as a reinforcement tool i.e. game simulations. My students love those. And as an inquiry tool. Get the kids curious about a topic before we start learning. Also gives me time for one on one work with students who need it. #INeLearn
  • DonWettrick Nov 9 @ 9:22 PM EST
A3: I feel successful when the students start to pursue more than just the lesson- when they decide to work past the minimum. #INeLearn
    In reply to @MediaSpecJess
  • lrbrazil Nov 9 @ 9:22 PM EST
My school has done some intentional grouping in credit recovery - kids all needing the same credit using a self-paced online course placed with a teacher to help fill in gaps #INeLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:22 PM EST
R3: Ts are really trying to deliver content in new ways, moving students to creation rather than consumption - now we need to focus on quality content design and feedback #inelearn
  • AHSblaz Nov 9 @ 9:22 PM EST
#inelearn R3 love Classroom, esp post sites to investigate & Ss surf them at own pace/interest level instead of whole-class one at a time.
  • ToddShriver Nov 9 @ 9:23 PM EST
#inelearn A3 with our Mystery Skypes/Hangouts. Over the past few weeks we have visited Sweden, Russia and Canada. I️t has helped to build geography skills, cultural awareness and communication with our Ss. They have become engaged and want to learn more.

  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:23 PM EST
R3. We definitely have Ts blending with either gamification or creating iBooks and allowing Ss to pace themselves. Convinced a teacher to try a Hyperdoc last week. Mixed reviews on the content, but sees the value of the process. I call that a win! #INeLearn
  • mafuson Nov 9 @ 9:23 PM EST
A3: My district is just starting, and we have a diverse group of rising stars. We’re not great in any one area, but the soil is fertile. #INeLearn
  • jnmev Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
Seriously?!? I heard you teach a lesson today, and you weren't even at school! You blend more than u think! #INeLearn
    In reply to @BBrosman
  • blhelman Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
R3: Starting to flip my class and to hear students say they love videos for HW and activities in class #INelearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
  • MelissaWalley Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
A2 What overwhelms me as a coach is creating PD in a blended format -it's an empty slate. It's the same way Ts feel, I'm sure. #inelearn
  • jeffdoyleeagle Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
Jeff Doyle, principal @BR_Schools checking in after my 5yr finally hit the sack 😴😴#INeLearn

I do use a lot of online learning. #INeLearn
    In reply to @MediaSpecJess
  • krismarley12 Nov 9 @ 9:25 PM EST
A3: a lot of our elem teachers are having success using @CanvasLMS to post a daily welcome message & agenda. This initiates a.m. procedures and helps transition into work time. No projector required. students arrive at different times #inelearn
  • SarahWidner1 Nov 9 @ 9:25 PM EST
Q3: Using Seesaw to give WTW spelling test and using EPIC for research #INeLearn
  • north_posey_art Nov 9 @ 9:25 PM EST
R3 This year, I'm trying to allow students more choice in demonstrating knowledge through things like #flipgrid, #Google Draw, #Padlet and #pinterest. #inelearn
  • Hoosier_Hatchet Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
A3: We have several Ts experimenting with the Genius Hour framework/philosophy to create that student control of learning in classrooms. #WCSVision #inelearn
  • mmlashure Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
I would like to improve my ability to place resources in my students hands and be the guide on the side. #INeLearn
  • mrg_3 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
R4 This is a great question! Do share! Every 2nd Thurs #INeLearn takes on this topic, so we can always come back to the topic.
  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
R4: I want to use it to differentiate my instruction more. I want to reach each student in a one on one fashion some how. I also would like to be able to meet the needs of my inclusion students more effectively. #INeLearn
  • SarahWidner1 Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
Q4: I want to improve on having all subjects in CANVAS. Ss being comfortable to use it all day #INeLearn
  • BBrosman Nov 9 @ 9:26 PM EST
A4 I would love to get better at letting them learn on their own path. It goes back to student control. And I'm not sure how that would work. #INeLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:27 PM EST
R4: Helping Ts with quality online design and accessibility to ensure equitable experiences for all Ss. #inelearn
  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:27 PM EST
R$. Just converted to Canvas. I'd like to leverage the power of it and provide online learning there and award badges for things like Digital Citizenship, Makerspaces activities, etc. #INeLearn
  • mrg_3 - Moderator Nov 9 @ 9:27 PM EST
R4 This is a great question! Do share! Every 2nd Thurs #INeLearn takes on online/blended learning, so we can always come back to the topic.

  • krismarley12 Nov 9 @ 9:28 PM EST
A3: what I'm trying to negotiate - Ok, so I've found an amazing video. now what? how do I pair the video with other content? And being aware of cognitive load ... #inelearn
  • mafuson Nov 9 @ 9:29 PM EST
A4: I want Ts to dig deeper. Too many are still content to recreate or just use old material and think it’s online. I need to give them the tools to do it better.#INeLearn
  • ToddShriver Nov 9 @ 9:29 PM EST
#inelearn A4 Developing an effective assessment to see how well our Ss grasp and understood the speakers. We enjoy having them in class but are the Ss retaining the knowledge.
  • SSC_Curriculum Nov 9 @ 9:29 PM EST
Lori from @SSCRaiders. Catching up late tonight! #INeLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:30 PM EST
We have badged some PD modules in Canvas and Ts actually preferred the physical badge to the digital badge. They hung them on their doorways for others to see. #INeLearn
    In reply to @hselibrarydude
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:30 PM EST
That is my big goal this year. We have Canvas and Seesaw, these two tools alone can make a huge impact if used in transformative ways! #inelearn
    In reply to @mafuson
  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:31 PM EST
R4, @CanvasLMS I hope you are listening. Seems we could use some PD from you. #INeLearn
  • north_posey_art Nov 9 @ 9:31 PM EST
R4 I want students to feel more comfortable using digital resources without prompting. Instead of saying "look for inspiration on Pinterest" or "Google it," learners know how/when to find info on their own. #inelearn
  • SSC_Curriculum Nov 9 @ 9:31 PM EST
R1: I love student control. We can now personalize learning for each student. #INeLearn

  • SSC_Curriculum Nov 9 @ 9:34 PM EST
R2: making time to create the personalized learning #INeLearn
  • mmlashure Nov 9 @ 9:34 PM EST
A5 With the right tools you can do blended learning during the school day. I think the issue is lack of tech. #INelearn
  • MediaSpecJess Nov 9 @ 9:34 PM EST
    Q6: Student motivation #inelearn
  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:35 PM EST
R5: elementary students do not need an extended day. They are the sponges! Give the teachers the training and support they need and this will take off in the classroom. Faith, training and confidence is all the education system needs. #INeLearn
  • SSC_Curriculum Nov 9 @ 9:35 PM EST
Start small and build upon success. Pick realistic goals to work on. Too much to learn at one time! #INeLearn

  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:38 PM EST
It intrigues my students, and breaks up the school day for them. But the motivation still comes down to them. However, they do keep asking when the next online gaming day is :) #INeLearn

  • krismarley12 Nov 9 @ 9:39 PM EST
A5: I don't think the Blended authors are advocating for a longer school day. I think they are criticizing the general sameness in elementary school scheduling ... #inelearn

  • hselibrarydude Nov 9 @ 9:43 PM EST
R7. BL allows the Ts to learn alongside their Ss. They get a better feel for them as learners instead of constantly presenting information. #INeLearn
  • DonWettrick Nov 9 @ 9:43 PM EST

  • mrsd_us_history Nov 9 @ 9:44 PM EST
R7: Ownership of the blended classroom. Just like with students. If we get to create it and tailor it to our students and their needs we still have a purpose and role. no need to feel replaced. It just enhances our ability to reach each student. #IneLearn
  • arnoldtimw Nov 9 @ 9:44 PM EST
I love the Teach Like A Pirate #TLAP resources as a great start to this conversation. The "Hooks" are an easy starting point for Ts. The hard question is would students buy a ticket to be in your class? #INeLearn
