Elementary teachers, what's an example of something that college did not prepare you for in the field of education? What are some examples of things that incoming teachers should be prepared for when going to elementary school? #elemchat

A1. It's been awhile since I was in college, but I feel like college did not prepare us for the students with special needs. An example is that students with special needs are put in main stream classrooms with no support for that teacher. #elemchat

To combat the lack of support it's a good idea to come together with the others on your grade level and discuss the issues as they arise. Finding a mentor to discuss the challenges with is also a great way to combat that problem. #elemchat
