#TOSAChat is a chat on Twitter every Monday night at 8pm PST for TOSAs (teachers on special assignment), including all edtech and instructional coaches.
Hard question to answer, perhaps take turns making each teacher feel special. Admins go into each classroom to applaud the teachers. Yeah, I know too much. I really don't need appreciation. I am just happy to be a teacher. #TOSAchat

Kim from SoCal I am good with a thank you...verbal or written...a shout out...or when someone is using something they learned from a preso :) #TOSAchat
Yeah that’s SO important. We have a director who doesn’t know peoples names and doesn’t recognize the importance of it. Just know we appreciate you! #tosachat
#tosachat My favorite way for a teacher/coworker to show appreciation is to tell me HOW they have applied something I shared with them. Even better is when a teacher shows me something they created with their Ss after a training!
.@tosachat so glad to be here: As a coach I would like to see Teachers embrace growth and challenge all in the goal of supporting student learning #tosachat#cuechat
Hey everyone, honestly I feel pretty fortunate to work with a boss who makes me fill appreciated. With that said I’m always good for a cup of coffee. @cogswell_ben@Simonometry#TOSAChat
Hello #TOSAchat Josh from Salinas, I'm the Dir. of @alisal_edtech. I like the teachers & TOSAs I work with to appreciate me by telling me how they use what I taught them with Ss. I like my boss to acknowledge the my team's hard work in meetings of our peers & #Leadership.
@JerryAlmendarez Is AMAZING and has really moved our district in the direction of higher Ss engagement. With that, comes the connection you must have with your Ts to get them invested with you.#tosachat

A1: I appreciate the teachers who allow me to come work with their kids. My tribe... my other TOSA colleagues... and of course my amazing PLN #TOSAchat
A1: On site, my fellow staff (Campus Supervisors, Clerical Staff, Admins, and fellow teachers). I try to say hello when I can despite being ignored. The trick is never let that bother you. Just be happy you get to teacher. At home, my wife. Nuff said about that one. #TOSAchat

A1: I appreciate people who understand my craziness and passion and know it’s about making ourselves better for the kids even if it isn’t the easy thing to do. #tosachat
I had one of those amazing coaching experiences today where the teacher just wanted to keep diving deeper into the work. Sharing that passion makes me feel appreciated #tosachat

That’s when you know you are making an impact. Well I will tell you that my session with you has helped me transfer info to Ts at my site. I loved that you were willing to make connections in that setting. Thank you!! #tosachat
Hi Everyone. Joe, Math & STEAM Coach. In line with Gary Chapman’s 5 love languages - I like quality time with my colleagues as ways to show appreciation. #tosachat

A1. I work for a probationary high school, so it's just my partner and I. We buy eachother flowers, coffee, little things. Our kiddos show appreciation in ways they can, sometimes just a "Thanks, Miss Jenna" can feel like an academy award. #tosachat
A1: I appreciate everyone who has come before me in making me who I am, everyone beside me helping me continue to grow, and everyone in front of me who will keep challenging and pushing me to keep growing. #tosachat

A1 I appreciate my AMAZING PLN! The late night DMs, the clarifying tweets, the face to face connections are priceless. My PLN makes me feel safe, challenges me, and has my back when I decide to take risk. You can do ANYTHING with someone that has you. #tosachat
A1: I appreciate the helpers - the people always willing to ask if I need help. Especially great on days like today when you are the testing coordinator and there are major tech issues happening! #TOSAchat
A2 I appreciate muddling. I love figuring things out together. I don’t have all the answers, but I value teachers who are willing to give it a shot. #tosachat

A2 I appreciate that my Ts are willing to TRUST me and allow me to take them places they may not want to go. TRUST that I only want to help and not critique. #TOSAChat
A2: I appreciate their willingness to ask. I am not an official Tosa, but I like helping people. It can take a lot of courage to ask for help from a fellow teacher #tosachat
Hi all! And Happy Teacher week to all my #TOSAChat friends!! Amanda here from Campbell, CA. I’m a sucker for an old fashioned hand written TY note. I keep all the letters Ts & Ss have given me in the last 3 yrs

I appreciate that THEY appreciate when technical things go wrong while I'm presenting. I feel awful and they are often smiling, glad that it isn't just them and we all feel better! #tosachat
A2: Since I am not a coach yet (currently up for Reflective Coach), I serve the kids. They need me to help guide them through the curriculum and be there to make sure the grades are correct. Most importantly, I am just there for the kids. #TOSAchat

A2: I appreciate Ts who recognize that the reason I push EdTech and the 4 C's is because it's what's best for kids! And kids are always my focus even from a district level. #tosachat
I think we keep the focus on the Ss, us adults can get out of the way of the adult stuff that slows us down. The part that makes us afraid to be transparent. #tosachat
Yes!! 3 years later it’s exciting to see the growth in so many Ts & Ss. Digital instructions looks so different now than it did when we first rolled out devices! #TOSAchat

A2 I appreciate the growth and the ability of teachers to push through the pain points to get to new learning. I love to show them how much they've grown. I love it when I walk on campus and the say "can I show you something or you would be so proud of me" #tosachat
LOL. 💚💛💚💛
Wait till we’re all grown up and then see if you still want that.
It’s not all lettuce and robots 🤖🤓
We have our issues just like everyone. #TOSAchat
YES! My former T partner let her Ss run w/ animal reports via Slides and they results were AWESOME! And the kids taught each other tricks they learned. It was amazing what they did when she gave them the freedom. #tosachat
A2: I appreciate the risk-taking, dedication and passion for learning that I see in the Ts that I work with. I’m so lucky to work with so many talented educators! #TOSAchat

A3 Honor the work they do, the leaps of faith they take with you. Teaching is a such a personal thing guided by the heart. I have been sending handwritten notes as well. #TOSAchat
A3 Sometimes I'll help with a personal tech question like how to do something on Twitter or Facebook or show a fun website like one for collecting online recipes. #TOSAChat
A3: I show my appreciation by being honest with them and trying to be as vulnerable as I can be in our conversations. I do my best to listen. #tosachat

A3: when I am in charge of something, I always try to show my appreciation with little things. I added a small treat to everyone’s testing bag today, tomorrow are appreciation statements from kids. #tosachat
A3: I try to find ways to make my colleagues lives a little easier. When I partner w/a T I try to take on all the little time suckers for a lesson— gathering materials, prepping devices, loading apps, etc etc. Also like to gift ppl time when it’s possible #tosachat

My teaching evolved when I started trying to fix the strategies I was weak at teaching. I wanted to do WHATEVER it took to make my Ss stronger. #TOSAchat
A3: It’s important to always be attentive to their needs. I think that by giving undivided attention and listening to them helps show appreciation. Encouragement and chocolate always help too #tosachat
A3. I stress to them that they aren’t in this journey alone. I am always available to support them or help with the foot work in trying new things. #tosachat

Yes indeed. Sometimes you need a reminder that SOMEONE loves you, on those bad days. Just a reminder that ONE DAY you did everything to your liking. #TOSAChat
A3: As a future Reflective Coach, I envision myself being positive and not telling the new teacher how to teach. I want to help make suggestions and bounce ideas together. I want to be always reassuring and be willing to help co-plan and co-teach. #TOSAchat

I had a former Asst. Sup who used to leave a full page letter for each teacher he visited commenting on the positives he saw. He is long retired, but teachers remember his letters. #tosachat
A4: I tweet my fun times in classrooms...but many don't see it since they haven't jumped on the twitter train. Maybe I need to consider some other ways....great question to get me thinking.... #TOSAchat
A4: We share success through our newsletter on @SmorePages. Our gamified PD #PSUSDodyssey also helps us recognizes through badging and rewards. #tosachat

A4 We started a closed Facebook group in our district for all staff to talk about tech at their sites and have done shout outs to teachers trying new and/or innovative things! #TOSAChat
A4: I have recently been told that I don't do this enough in person with words. So working on it...but I think I am pretty good at it on Twitter, and in Team Google Hangouts. Where I can use emojis and bitmojis. #TOSAChat
A4: As a future reflective coach, I would be open for observation in both directions. Sometimes modeling a lesson can say more than "Hey, you are going to be great!" Allow the learner to give feedback for you, it would be a great learning experience. #TOSAchat
In reply to
@TosaChat, @cogswell_ben, @Jyoung1219, @KarlyMoura, @kmartintahoe, @EdTechAri, @peerlessgreen
A4: I include a couple of teacher shoutouts each week in my week in review report to executive cabinet and the board. I also try to include shoutouts in blog posts and podcast episodes #TOSAchat
A4: I send shout outs to the staff about great things happening in classrooms, pictures and video on twitter, and I am sure to share great stories and meetings with the admin. #tosachat
Try to validate something that they are doing. There's so much of "the district told me I had to..." I say, "I'm the district. You are a professional and I trust that you will make good decisions for the students in you care." #tosachat
A4: I try really hard to remember the time we spend together so I can bring it up nonchalantly later. I hope this makes them feel like our time was valuable enough to remember. #TOSAChat
A4 I share my love on twitter, @Flipgrid, newsletters, emails, text messages, DMs, and ultimately the way that will REACH the Ts I am trying to speak to. #tosachat
A4: if I hear about a teacher taking risks, I will either say something to them directly or send an email to them just saying I heard about it. It’s small but seems to work #tosachat
Hey, #tosachat! Joining late.
A4: I like to recognize students & teachers by telling site admins & DO staff about the awesome learning happening in the classroom. They are ones doing the hard work…I’m just there to support and encourage.
A4 #tosachat I started a Teacher Interview Podcast to share our teacher's stories and voices across the district and beyond. So, Itunes, Stitcher, and Google Play are where we show appreciation for their experience and expertise https://t.co/qMCie9yG8d

That’s not a bad idea! I do usually show them the tweet before I send it but it’s still not quite enough to get them on sometimes. I even show the likes and retweets and tell them they are trending haha! #tosachat
A5: This really depends on the person. It’s like Gary Chapman’s 5 love languages & his other book 5 languages of appreciation. Some like gifts, some prefer quality time, … #tosachat

Definitely want to start something like that in my district. Want to showcase classroom teachers and let them share the great things they are doing. #tosachat
I appreciate teachers I support for always wanting to improve their student's experience, for taking on what can be uncomfortable, and for trusting me to take the journey with them. #tosachat
A5: I appreciate the teachers that I work with and the educators whom I communicate on #TOSAchat because they push me to be better. I am challenged creatively, mentally, and deep down I know I can always do better.

A5 Teaching is a very hard, noble, rewarding profession. We need to appreciate each other's strengths and support one another. It's not a race or competition. We work hard, we need to work smart. #ittakesavillage#tosachat
I say this to my teachers and colleagues often, @PSUSD does has some amazing pockets of innovation. I feel especially grateful because as a graduate of PSUSD I got to experience their awesomeness first hand and now as a colleague. #tosachat

Yes! I do that often too. I always send a thank you message to the teacher and copy the principal or a celebratory email to the principal and copy the teacher. #tosachat
A5 I appreciate that my Ts are willing to try something new. We are introducing new PD where Ts have a choice of what to learn. They are willing to try. I love it. Makes me proud. #tosachat
A5 #tosachat Great question. Practicing gratitude daily opens me up to enjoying the day, being productive, affirming those around me and building a team.
A5: Teaching is hard work! As an admin, I never want to lose the feeling of being a teacher so I can always remember the challenges and rewards that teachers face. Staying a teacher at heart will ensure I provide proper support and stay true to myself as an educator #tosachat
They are the ones in the trenches everyday. They have the direct connection to students. I’m just there to support. Kid of like a water boy and cheerleader in one. #tosachat
A5: I appreciate teachers who are willing to try new things and engage students in different ways, even when it’s uncomfortable with the process. “A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.” #tosachat
This is way awesome. I think #TOSAchat should list the educators in this group that has podcasts on the webpage. Yea, I know easier said that done but an idea never the less.
A4 #tosachat I started a Teacher Interview Podcast to share our teacher's stories and voices across the district and beyond. So, Itunes, Stitcher, and Google Play are where we show appreciation for their experience and expertise https://t.co/qMCie9yG8d
Yeah we are on the same team! Being an admin is more about leading and supporting not about power. We have the ability to provide resources (and sometimes we don’t unfortunately) to help teachers do what’s best for their Ss and need to be a support system #tosachat
A6 I love all the appreciation I have gotten on social media as well as my text messages. A quick note goes along way. I receive LOTS of hug gifs from @KarlyMoura and it gets me through. #tosachat
A5: I appreciate teachers who are willing to try new things and engage students in different ways, even when it’s uncomfortable with the process. “A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.” #tosachat
When I have those “admin” days where I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I start visiting classrooms and reconnect with students. When I become an admin and not a leader then it’s time to get in rooms #tosachat
Hey Kelly, I think seeing positive student outcomes as a result of coaching always pushes the affirmation button for what we do. When we work together and see that we make a real difference for kids, that's the best. #tosachat
A6 expressing appreciation via words, notes, high fives, hugs.. in person & virtually to those TOSAs working hard everywhere.. happy appreciation week! #tosachat
A6: I think I need to seek another TOSA with a gift of appreciation. While TOSA teachers might be forgotten about, we as teachers who are in the classroom can be grateful that we are surround by educators of different walks of life who care about the welfare of kids. #TOSAchat
