We need friends and friendship is based on trust. To earn trust, money and power aren’t enough; you have to show some concern for others. You can’t buy trust in the supermarket. #hacklearning
A1- My one word was networking and building my PLN. I feel like I have lived it up by attending conferences and being present on twitter! #hacklearning

A3: One tech tool that made 2018 a little easier is the Gmail Extension Boomerang. It allowed me to schedule emails in advance and bumped back messages that didn't get replies. Great time saver! #HackLearninghttps://t.co/AuVoc5VVyl
A3 We loved using @gimkit starting back in the . spring, students enjoyed the practice and fun it provided, and I have to add @Buncee and @nearpod for being so versatile and easy to use #HackLearning#edtech

A2: This quote has inspired me for years, but in 2018 I finally realized I truly had been living it all along. Learning ALWAYS happens for me through the challenges, the uncomfortable, the risk.
#hacklearning#2018inReview#hsgky
Does tech make things easier or add to our pile of responsibilities ... Here is a curve ... My CPAP machine made life easier for me because it has allowed me to really sleep. #hacklearning
Good morning #hacklearning! My #oneword for 2018 was "mindfulness" which I did well with for the first half of the year, but then things got hectic.... & I lost sight of my focus when I needed it most!

A3 my iPhone calendar ... put all my family members in 1 e-calendar to help with scheduling and transportation ... saved hours/week in phone calls and wait time #HackLearning
One idea I got from @isaacjwells to celebrate learning is after a workshop to have teachers write a postcard to themselves. Then 6-8 weeks later, I drop it in the US mail so they can remind themselves of what they learned. This stack is going out next week. #HackLearning
My hacky way of celebrating learning in #2018 is to replicate something that has worked well, the #HackLearning Series, in order to develop the new uNseries, with the help of @cpoole27, and the forthcoming #LeadForward Series. Celebrate learning by creating!
A3 ➡️ It’s hard to choose just one, so I’ll narrow it down to 2: Google Classroom & @Socrative 👍 Both have allowed me to streamline assignments/assessments so I can spend more time with students in class & developing lessons/activities that are student based. #HackLearning
A2: My “one word” for 2018 was innovate. We used our new @ff3dprinters 3D printer, Qball throwable microphone @goPEEQ , iPads, green screens @DoInkTweets , & stop@motion. Looking forward to innovating even more in 2019! #hackLearning

In #2018, I finally learned that sometimes, you have to say, No, even when you may want to say, Yes. We only have so much bandwidth to give. Saying No sometimes helps us say Yes at the right time.
#HackLearning
I love this one! I remember when asking 'why' was practically asking for a trip to the principal's office. Not the case now and it is wonderful! #HackLearning

A5: I learned the hard way that when you don't make your expectations clear, it can damage relationships. Own your mistakes, correct them, and move forward. #hacklearninghttps://t.co/LF4EmA0obM#hacklearning
Something I learned the hard way in 2018 is grumpy people like other people to be grumpy with them. If positivity isn't spreading, the best reaction to negativity is a smile and silence. #HackLearning
A3: Kahoot has been a big hitter in my classroom. Students really enjoy reviewing for their assessments on this platform. It even gives feedback as well. #hacklearning
There was one night this year I slept for 8 hours ... i felt like I was 8 ... had not slept that long in decades ... sleep makes a huge difference. #hacklearning

A4: Don't know if it was "hacky" but we did Gallery Walks for our #geniushour projects last spring. Kids loved sharing their projects with friends and family instead of just each other. #hacklearning
That one took me a decade to realize I needed to improve on if I was going to keep moving forward. Truth is .... I never became very good at it :-) #HackLearning
Changing to a new teaching job that’s completely different from your old one is actually really tough. My sense of efficacy took a serious nose dive. #HackLearning
A5 still learning ... how to be quiet ... to allow for and take time for silent reflection ... as a verbal processor this is so challenging (those who may not verbally process have difficulty understanding this too 🥺) ... together we will get there #HackLearning
Interesting. The simplicity of Slack is what I love. We manage @times10books projects, creating a unique channel for each. Channels create content rooms for anyone you assign to those channels. Could be awesome for small group projects in class or for staff PD. #HackLearning

A5 ➡️ Not everyone has the innovator’s mindset. Teachers, students, parents, & admin often question/are reluctant to accept innovative changes in how concepts are taught/learned. It can be a battle. #HackLearning

I love @Buncee, though the three slide deck limit is hard. Our school is small and funding is tight. Does your school pay for more or is three per student enough? #HackLearning

@ShellTerrell, @Buncee, @RWTnow, @ClassDojo, @gotynker, @codeorg, @CommonSenseEd, @Buncee
A6 The #4OCFPLN so thankful for meeting this group from @RACzyz book study #4OCF and staying connected and growing, and @cpoole27 for inspiring me and the opportunity to become part of the #WeTeachuN and #HackLearning family
A2: If you love to use quotes w/ Ss there is an excellent resource that builds a lesson around quotes, pictures & higher level questions. Here's a sample that you can download of Way To Go lessons for Grades 3-12. https://t.co/W6Wx25gIbq#HackLearning
#hacklearning A3 -- After a year of doubt, I finally started my own podcast for counselors. - 5-Minutes with the Counselor. - Started in June and made my goal of 100 episodes before the end of the year. I have a voice and decided it was time to share. https://t.co/8GsZY9nSPR.
A6: @LStaniszewski1! We work together, but she's started blogging recently and it's really started opening up some fun and exciting conversations on things we can do with band students! #hacklearning
I enjoy Keep for those times when @Pinterest fails to save an image I want to store. Sometimes I find Keep no longer works either, especially on some of the better quote graphics on Twitter. Have you noticed this? #HackLearning
A6. There are SO MANY that I add each month to the #BookCampPD#PLN - over a year ago I created a list on Twitter with all of their names. Here are directions to follow it. #HackLearning
One person stands out @heARTISTatWORK
A6 so many ... love the #MadeMeBetter tweets ... for me, @markbarnes19 has pushed me out of my comfort zone this year with promoting and moderating the #HackLearning slow chat ... definite growth opportunity
My #OneWord is IMPACT. How can I create positive change to impact the lives of my students? How can I forge supportive relationships to impact the practice of my colleagues? How can I reflect and look inward to impact my own pedagogy? #OneWord2019#HackLearning#EdChat#impact
I started the year challenging my faculty to assume positive intent w
In their interactions with students, parents and colleagues. It is not an easy task! #hacklearning
I have added lots of people to my #PLN , but I will go outside of Education for this one ... I added @EvanDonovan who is a Political Reporter/Anchor for @WFLA ... he came into school to chat with my kids ... great resource for unbiased info and a willingness to help #hacklearning
@chrisemdin said that in education, misery doesn’t just love company, it seduces it, it romances it ... we have to be positive change agents ... by choice! #HackLearning
Something I learned the hard way in 2018 is grumpy people like other people to be grumpy with them. If positivity isn't spreading, the best reaction to negativity is a smile and silence. #HackLearning
Thanks for the shoutout in #hacklearning, Sanee! One of my 2018 highlights was finally meeting you in person and collaborating with you on #EdWriteNow, Vol. 2. You are an inspiring force! #Grateful
I love this quote because it reminds me that allowing students to bust through their learning struggles is more rewarding to them than if I pull them out of that struggle. We have to allow students to be challenged to they yearn for the reward that comes after it. #HackLearning
Good Morning all! Jumping in late. A7 from MLK: “Whenever men and women straighten their backs up, they are going somewhere, because a man can't ride your back unless it is bent” #hacklearning

I've really got to get better at this, though I have improved a lot. Being willing to step away from a gossipy or negative room is a helpful start. #HackLearning
A8 I wanted students to share a Nearpod lesson with our #pbl friends in Argentina. We did a google slides, then nearpodized with Chrome extension, and added in trips and more, was awesome! #HackLearning
I have a wonder wall they love using - but I’m thinking about somehow connecting their free write journals to their latest Genius Hour projects or wonder wall questions (with still allowing for the FREEDOM that a free write journal should have!!). #HackLearning

Just read a quote, you're likely to remember about 10% of that information 3 days later. Add a picture, & recall will soar to 65%.
(Carmine Gallo) - Motivate Ss w/ quotes, pictures & questions to which they can reflect on the quote #HackLearning
Beyond blessed for your collaboration and friendship, @missbrown111! I love learning with you daily, my friend! Looking forward to more convos & collabs with you. Thanks for the shoutout in #hacklearning & #ThePepperEffect! See you very soon!
A6: I want to give a shoutout to @MrNunesteach & @BiscottiNicole for the encouragement to push forward in this Twitter world and to share my passion w/ others. Thanks a million. You will definitely be hearing more from me. 🤗
#HackLearning
So much learning and reflecting ... are you ready to continue the conversation? ... let’s do 1 question each day this week ... I’m ready to #HackLearning slow chat
In #2018 we helped a few authors improve #education, amplifying their voices, in concert with @times10books. In #2019, we'll continue the mission of helping teachers and learners, but we'll be better, and we'll reach a much bigger audience.

A9: Hoping to continue to learn and connect through presenting and conferences. Had the opportunity to step outside my usual sphere in various ways during 2018 and loved it! #hacklearning
I love this, Meredith. I am hoping 2019 is the year I deepen some of the conversations I have on #Twitter and this is going to be a key hack to make that happen! #HackLearning
A10: I hope to use my #oneword2019 as an overall goal/mindset for the year. Last year my word kept me focused and this was the impetus for selecting my new word (which will be revealed tomorrow 😎). #hacklearning
A9. Continue to offer greater choice and voice to the #BookCampPD#PLN when selecting the books we will focus on during chats. Here are the WInter/Spring one's they selected during a 3 week survey. #HackLearning
Happy New Year to all my #hacklearning peeps!
And for all you runners / teachers out there, keep an eye out for my newest book-
Running Toward Greatness - 26.2 Ways Teaching is Like Running a Marathon
Due out in the Spring! Lots of great stories and strategies!
#youlldigit
A10: I want to stop worrying about the small stuff. I want to remember that if I work hard to take care of Ss and Ts first, the rest will take care of itself! #HackLearning
A10 Hope to take on more writing projects, create more opps for students to lead more, and start learning things that are on my growing list! #HackLearning
A10: More isn't always better! Slow down and go into more depth with your teaching vs rushing through as much as you can.
Inch wide, mile deep > In deep, mile wide.
#hacklearning
My advice to me for #2019: Look at #leadership from a different lens, knowing that anyone can be a leader. Then, go and find those people and amplify their voices.
#HackLearning#LeadForward
A10: Dear Future @SimplySuzy.... In 2019 I hope you reach out more & worry less. I hope you take steps towards what you are wishing for. I want you to write articles, take photos, publish recordings & help others more than you did in 2018. Let's see some #GROWTH! #HackLearning
A9 I hope to continue building on our Global Collaborations, building on our Choice Menus, providing creative ways to demonstrate learning #hacklearning
