A1: prefer to have a 3 & 2i, since we do move LB's it makes the A Gap read cleaner and gives us better numbers in pass game. #425chat
  • thomps_03 Jan 19 @ 9:13 PM EST
    A1 Game Plan 1st, TB 2nd, Field 3rd, QB Arm 4th...LBs stay true 90% of time #425chat
  • CoachBFri29 Jan 19 @ 9:15 PM EST
A1: Dpnds on gmeplan 4 wk, normally call the strength away from back. Our Buc lines up on # 2 widen weak bcker to play any nside rt #425chat
  • CoachOrtiz1 Jan 19 @ 9:15 PM EST
A1) we will move our 2 interior constantly...Toro/Aim, we also will shift presnap from time to time to back the O 5yds #425chat
  • CoachSReid Jan 19 @ 9:15 PM EST
#425chat A1 like to adjust the front to the shade nose either opp. TB or QB depending on. Who is biggest threat
  • CoachBehnfeldt Jan 19 @ 9:15 PM EST
A1: 3/5 set to RB side or away from trips. #425chat
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:16 PM EST
A1) we line up with 2Is and 5s on DL. Backers will be in B gap vs 2x2, vs 3x1- strength "pulls" our backers over a gap #425chat
  • CoachSReid Jan 19 @ 9:16 PM EST
#425chat Scott Reid DL tomball TX.
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 19 @ 9:16 PM EST

Q2: With your nose or weak tackle, do you have a nose shade on center or a 1 tech? Why? #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:20 PM EST
Great so far! Q2 is up! #425chat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 19 @ 9:20 PM EST
A1 - we're 5,3,1,5 with strength away from RB, but we will play double 2's. We stem our DT's too. #425chat
  • brrobinson208 Jan 19 @ 9:20 PM EST
1 leads to a ton of double teams from guard and center. 2i gives our man a good chance to get a 1v1 #425chat
    In reply to @Zach_Turner1
  • Coach_ZC Jan 19 @ 9:20 PM EST
I believe it depends on your LB Alignments. If you have a LB's adjust you can make the center wrong with a 2i. #425chat
    In reply to @Zach_Turner1
  • coachjsam Jan 19 @ 9:22 PM EST
A1: strength depends on what they like to do. Play over front #425chat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 19 @ 9:22 PM EST
We will play head up 2's in base and hop in some over/under stuff with a G/2i or a nose/shade depending on front call #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 19 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2 - we mix up our shade nose or 1 tech. My DL coach will change it up based on tendency or weaker OL #425chat
  • coachcoker02 Jan 19 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2: I prefer 2i. It prevents the guard from a free release on the LBs. #425chat
  • CoachAltmanWM Jan 19 @ 9:23 PM EST
@Def425chat Rob Altman DL West Memphis AR #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat
  • brgredd Jan 19 @ 9:23 PM EST
No 1 tech is perfect angle for a scoop block to the LB. 2i allows for more 1 on 1 battles #425chat
  • CoachBehnfeldt Jan 19 @ 9:23 PM EST
A2: we can do both but prefer the 2i because of the isolation with G usually, not as many double teams. We can tag it to mix it up #425chat
  • brrobinson208 Jan 19 @ 9:23 PM EST
that too! I only speak for dline and our alignment #425chat
    In reply to @Coach_ZC, @Zach_Turner1

    #425chat
    • freezysmalls Jan 19 @ 9:23 PM EST
A1 our dc likes this for us...like getting buck over number 2#425chat
  • Zach_Turner1 Jan 19 @ 9:24 PM EST
what do you mean by center wrong? In a gal scheme or zone scheme? #425chat
    In reply to @Coach_ZC
  • CoachFetty Jan 19 @ 9:24 PM EST
A2) we use both.. we use the shade to pressure the center. #425chat
  • CoachAltmanWM Jan 19 @ 9:25 PM EST
    @Def425chat a1: depends. Usually 5-3-1-5 with 3 away from rb #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat
  • CoachOrtiz1 Jan 19 @ 9:25 PM EST
A2) We do both. I like giving the OL a lot of different looks to mess with rules! #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:25 PM EST
my bad. Trying to multi task. Meant nose shade and a 2i.... #425chat
    In reply to @CoachSReid
  • coachjsam Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2: we will mix it up based off what the offense wants to do #425chat
  • brrobinson208 Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2 try to avoid the 1 and stick with 2i just to avoid doubles and give our man best chance at holding his gap #425chat
  • freezysmalls Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2 I personally do so hopefully he can get dbl in A, and stunts later with delayed blitz looks sweet😍 #425chat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
2i lends itself to line movement. Versus spread (which is predominant in TX) you have to change the "B" gap & the cover downs. #425chat
  • coachdboucher Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2) shade, hard for guard to reach backside so center stick, rep fast hands/ proper placement so he can beat playside and get dbl #425chat
  • Coach_ZC Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2: we will mix it up, depends on who we're facing, have done some "tilt" tech where our N attacks the centers snapping hand/arm. #425chat
  • thomps_03 Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
We play 2i. Feel we can move more from that and create what we want for LBs to be successful #425chat
  • CoachAltmanWM Jan 19 @ 9:26 PM EST
@Def425chat a2: i like a shaded nose if i think the center is weak #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat
  • CoachSReid Jan 19 @ 9:27 PM EST
#425chat A2 I just like beating up in the guy snapping the football, wear him out and get bad snaps!
  • Coach_JGill Jan 19 @ 9:28 PM EST
@Def425chat Like that. Think it keeps WLB a little cleaner as well. #425chat
    In reply to @freezysmalls, @Def425chat

  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:28 PM EST
    Great stuff! Q3 in 2 minutes! #425chat
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:28 PM EST
A2) we use a 2I on guard. In base scheme we hope to force ball to B gap. Also limits angles on down blocks by OGs #425chat
  • LHorrocks44 Jan 19 @ 9:28 PM EST
Logan Horrocks, Linebackers, Jerome High School, ID. A1) 2x2 my backers don't shift - keep 6 in the box to stop the run. #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:28 PM EST
Q3: What do your LBs read? Flow RB? Center and Guard? Guard and tackle? And how do you rep these keys? #425chat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 19 @ 9:30 PM EST
How do you like the tilt NG? We've thought about doing it some. #425chat
    In reply to @Coach_ZC
  • CoachSReid Jan 19 @ 9:30 PM EST
#425chat A3 versus 3x1, gap up and read guards and fill gap on run read, 2x2, guards to RB flow
  • CoachFetty Jan 19 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3) near guard to Flow simple trianlge drill.. 3 line 2 lbs 1 rb #425chat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 19 @ 9:31 PM EST
A1: Here is how I line up to dbls. Str call is to the field to allow a cover down and to discourage RPOs. #425chat
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3) Backers read screws of OL helmet aligned over. OL to back. Against wing t teams ILB always key guards (we are wing t too) #425chat
  • brgredd Jan 19 @ 9:31 PM EST
As long as refs aren't calling illegal man downfield on RPO's 6 yds downfield we've switched from reading guards to more of RB flow #425chat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 19 @ 9:31 PM EST
Ourswill mirror path of RB w/ 👀 progressing to OL for run scheme. Again, if we have a heavy tendency, we'll read that. #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat
  • CoachBFri29 Jan 19 @ 9:32 PM EST
Q3: Our guys are taught to read guards and tackles. c a open gap go clse it & find ball. rep thru team, looking for mre ideas also #425chat
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 19 @ 9:32 PM EST
A2 play a shade to two back sets and a 2i to one back sets #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:33 PM EST
    #425chat
    In reply to @freezysmalls, @Coach_JGill
  • coachjsam Jan 19 @ 9:33 PM EST
A3: we make the reads as simple as possible so our players play as fast as possible. Depends on the week. #425chat
  • CoachBehnfeldt Jan 19 @ 9:33 PM EST
A3: OL that they align over. OL gives clearer picture than keying RB. OL only does so much in terms of blocking so easy to read. #425chat
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 19 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3 linebackers read guard to flow simple rules....guard pull= follow.... no pull= read near back flow #425chat
  • coachcoker02 Jan 19 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3: LBs read the scheme to flow. We spend 10 minutes a day on reads and fits then tie it together in run fit period w/ DL #425chat
  • coachjsam Jan 19 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3: have to read the guys that can't lie #425chat
  • Coach_ZC Jan 19 @ 9:34 PM EST
I think about it as a combo btwn the M and N. C works to N easy fill for M. C works away N is able to occupy both A's #425chat
    In reply to @Zach_Turner1
  • thomps_03 Jan 19 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3 we read guards to flow. Will play RAT on 21 personel teams. Have cross read BF as gamelan before #425chat
  • freezysmalls Jan 19 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3 LBs are reading G feet to backfield. Our hybrid player is reading end man to backfield #425chat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 19 @ 9:35 PM EST
We'll run "Torch". Both T's in A, whoever C steps to wraps while opposit T continues to penetrate. #425chat
    In reply to @Def425chat, @freezysmalls
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:35 PM EST
We have discussed how we should line up against 2TE sets. Our base was even (2Is, 5s and 2 9s) but looking at alternatives. Ideas? #425chat
  • Coach_ZC Jan 19 @ 9:35 PM EST
love it, used it one week vs a C that had shakey snaps on film. Obviously takes a ton of reps to get good at it. #425chat
    In reply to @CoachM_Hancock
  • CoachOrtiz1 Jan 19 @ 9:36 PM EST
A3) Guard to Back. DRILL: We use the trashcans for T,T,C...use live guards and RB. Rep pulls, zones, pass...match path/pace of RB #425chat
  • freezysmalls Jan 19 @ 9:36 PM EST
I hear some LBs are keying backfield flow or just the Fullback? Thoughts? I'm interested in knowing the reason behind this #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:36 PM EST
Q4: Is your end a spill player or a contain player? Why? #425chat
  • Def425chat - Moderator Jan 19 @ 9:37 PM EST
    #425chat
    In reply to @CoachSReid, @Coach_JGill, @freezysmalls
  • LHorrocks44 Jan 19 @ 9:37 PM EST
A3) triangle read = guard to guard to RB. Read high hat, base block (gap reps.), down block, or pull and go hard to flow. #425chat
  • thomps_03 Jan 19 @ 9:38 PM EST
A3 cont we will work reading single OL to double to back 7 run fits in funnel drill against both guards working scheme #425chat
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:38 PM EST
A3 cont) The OL usually doesn't lie & can only do 4 things- pass set, pull, down block, some time of own block (zone, reach, fire) #425chat
  • CoachAltmanWM Jan 19 @ 9:38 PM EST
@Def425chat q4: our end is a spill player because my boss told me thats what he is. Thats all the reason i needed ha ha #425chat

#425chat A4 spill on both sides, allows them to play fast whenever possible
  • CoachFetty Jan 19 @ 9:39 PM EST
A4) Box(contain) our kids did it better than spill. #425chat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 19 @ 9:39 PM EST
Has helped. Can pick off a puller as well. Will add rushers on pass downs. #425chat

    A4) Spill. #425chat
  • CoachBehnfeldt Jan 19 @ 9:41 PM EST
A4: Spill player, like to use him as a compressor of OT to keep our ILB clean and the wrong arm to spill to Safeties and ILBs. #425chat
  • coachdboucher Jan 19 @ 9:41 PM EST
A3) near back, play faster that way, have over hang on each side to overlap counter mistakes, Mirror drill. #425chat
  • TeamSpiritSocks Jan 19 @ 9:41 PM EST

  • Coach_ZC Jan 19 @ 9:42 PM EST
A3: the two dudes in his gap, then to flow. #425chat
  • thomps_03 Jan 19 @ 9:42 PM EST
A4 we spill and let safeties be aggressive. Run them to 12th man if needed. East West better than North/South #425chat
  • brrobinson208 Jan 19 @ 9:42 PM EST
A4 our ends are contain players to. With our alignments and opponents it makes more sense to have our ends in contain. #425chat
  • freezysmalls Jan 19 @ 9:43 PM EST
A4 we wrong arm a lot because safeties are "SUPPOSE" to be filling like a bat outta hell #425chat again...I reinterate the "SUPPOSE" lol
  • coachmolzen Jan 19 @ 9:43 PM EST
A4) We spill. Get ball carrier going sideways. When we are 1 high OLBs force, 2 high technically safeties are force #425chat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 19 @ 9:43 PM EST
We teach our DE to spill to OLB unless we stunt the OLB inside the DE. We'll stunt both and also swap their gaps #425chat
  • CoachSReid Jan 19 @ 9:43 PM EST
#425chat question, how do you manipulate the offense to force them to throw their RPO and pick it off in the process? I want INTs!
  • coachcoker02 Jan 19 @ 9:43 PM EST
A4: our ends are spill players. Helps the LBs fit the run right. We used to contain but have improved run fits since the switch. #425chat
  • y0su_ Jan 19 @ 9:44 PM EST
I like the reasoning a lot. Scheme to fit your strengths. #425chat
    In reply to @CoachFetty
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 19 @ 9:44 PM EST
