The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
Hi! I'm Tiffany from Scottsburg. I teach 6th grade science as well as support Indiana educators as an innovation specialist. I look forward to tonight's chat! #INeLearn
Tonight’s topic focuses on maintaining engagement and inspiration. Be sure to use the Q1, R1 format and include the #INeLearn hashtag. Q1 is coming up!

R1: Ss like using technology; however, it has to be something that will grab their attention. Something where they create something like a 3D print or a video or music. My Ss liked using @Flipgrid the other day. #INeLearn
R1 I don't think we can assume all Ss expect technology. We have to open their world to what tech can be so they can understand what they want. #INeLearn
R1: Google forms, Survey Monkey, Poll Everywhere are all fun, easy tools to gather input from Ss in a more formal way. And simply asking them what kinds of tech they're using so you can (1) know what they're talking about and (2) incorporate it somehow! #INeLearn

R2: Today my Ss in biology created microscope slides of onion and cheek cells. They took pics of them. We are going to use @Snapchat to create an pic info board that Ss can share. #LabSnaps#INeLearn
R2 I am very intentionally about when I pull out certain pieces like green screen, stop motion, etc, @sphero, etc. I try to space it out in the beginning, but then it provides them many tools to select from throughout the year. #INeLearn
Yes, we’ve encouraged our instructors to use video responses as much as possible to foster a sense of connection and engagement for their online courses!

@kresselborn, @LCHS_Bio, @Flipgrid, @WeVideo, @YouTube
R3 @makeymakey is always a wow with the Ss. @Flipgrid also packs an engagement punch. I love that I can see minutes engaged through the dashboard. #INeLearn
R3: my Physics Ss are beginning a project to create a mousetrap car to calculate velocity, acceleration, displacement, and momentum. They want to create parts on the classroom 3D printers. I’m going to teach them @tinkercad for creating their parts next class. #INeLearn
R3: I'll answer this with another question. A teacher at a school I used to work at used an activity that now I can't remember. But they were answering questions with QR codes I think - does this sound familiar to anyone else? The kids loved it but I can't remember now! #INeLearn
A3: before we start a big project tomorrow I made my kids a quizlet to review vocab words and today we played quizlet live and it blew their mind. They played till the bell rang and wanted to play again next week #INeLearn

Q4: How do we engage Ss in the process of building a scope and sequence for curriculum? In other words, how do we allow them voice in their learning? #INeLearn

R4 When I did PBL heavily, I allowed the Ss to create our activity calendar. Yes, it was difficult, but it made them feel in control of their learning. #INeLearn
R3: Never used it with kids (I've been out of the classroom for a minute), but I can say with first hand experience that adults love @GetKahoot! 😀 #INeLearn
R4 There’s an idea I saw once where on the first day of class, the instructor presents the syllabus with some blank sections to allow students to come to a consensus on how to complete that as a class. It could be about a final project, class expectations, or grading. #inelearn
R4 I think many times we worry we won't "cover the standards," but Ss are remarkably intuitive about what they need to know to answer their own Qs. They will seek out the right steps w/ guidance. #INeLearn
R1: I work to find ways that tech enhances what I'm trying to do. Online math games w/ self check rather than paper, online books that allow for read aloud for struggling readers #INeLearn
A4: Genius Hour has been one of the best things I have implemented thus far! Students are literally in control of all of their learning and how they prove their growth! #INelearn
R5 I get inspiration from my own children so many times. I love watching what creative endeavors they do on their personal iPads. I try to mimic their ideas in the classroom in meaningful ways. #INeLearn
R5 I'm also inspired by so many educators like the #INeLearn network. I love talking to Ts at #SOEL conferences or #ISTE. I love talking to Ts down the hall and their passion for their own subjects inspire me.
R5: Conferences are a great place to learn about new products and offerings, as well as connect with and learn from other educators. Plus, it's just fun to be around other people who are in the trenches with you every day! #INeLearn
R5: finding those things that get my Ss to have “a-ha” moments. Seeing Ss succeed when they haven’t before. Making connections with those challenging Ss #INeLearn
This is why we love the #SOEL conferences each year. We are inspired by so many of you daily! Thank you #INeLearn for always being the amazing rockstars that you are day in and day out!

R5 I get inspired by my students and community. If you ask local businesses or college students to talk to students. We have a pro YouTuber @Cartoon_Connect coming Monday to inspire Ss & staff #INelearn
R5 I had a student bring a Darth Vador mask to school last week to go with our room transformation. In that moment, all the hard work was worth it. They inspire me to be better. #Inelearn

R6 I am a huge @instagram user. I follow so many amazing and varied educators through the teacher tags. I'm a visual person and so seeing the classroom photos really catch my attention. #INeLearn
R5: What inspires me? Students in classrooms, seeing their faces light up when they love learning and are fully engaged in what they are doing. Also my 4 kids at home as well. ❤️👩🏻💻 #INeLearn

R6 For accountability, I have an amazing administrator who challenges me and allows me to pursue dreams. It provides an amazing amount of motivation for me. #INeLearn
R6 I’m enjoying learning from educators using YouTube. I interview Ts who want to share #EdTech on my PonderCast Episodes #INelearn like this https://t.co/8PX5yQ2ZPq
R6: Instagram has become my new outlet as well.. I can tell the younger Ts out of college prefer to gain edtech ideas via that outlet.. always trying to help everyone and all audiences #INeLearn

R8 I think we need to share more! Everyone, EVERYONE, has something of value to add. Also, we need to take new Ts under our wing. We can't assume they know about edtech because of their generational experiences. #INeLearn
R7: Staying on top of student trends with tech.. I saw a teacher integrate lesson design like fortnite.. it was really cool.. (tried to find pic 😩) #INeLearn
R8 Being able to share our success stories, whether it is through social media with our PLN or making a commitment with your school/team to meet regularly to share those stories - those are important. #INeLearn
Yes! It's so easy to be overwhelmed as a brand new teacher when there are SO MANY awesome things out there. Having a vet teacher who can show you what's working in there classroom helps narrow the options a bit, at least until you have the brain space to explore more. #INeLearn
R8 Surround yourself with people who will challenge and hold you accountable. For example we have an Edcamp happening soon up north #INelearnhttps://t.co/SicVjZFPhu

Agreed! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the options. Having someone to show you how to integrate the technology with pedagogy goes a long way! #inelearn
Wrap Up: Sports metaphor warning: I want to keep my eyes up and focused on the goal instead of looking down at the ball. I want to stay balanced so I can give this year everything I've got. #INeLearn
Wow #INeLearn! Thanks for hanging in there with me tonight. I was trying to Tweet as me and hold down @INeLearn for the first time. You continually inspire and amaze me.
