This is Michael A. from #122edchat in Chicago. @SmartLab_tweets#STEM Facilitator. Just walked in from practice...prepping dinner. Will try my best to be available for #tlap and #COLChat.
Tamara, tech integrator from VA, and my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is watching my children play games with their cousins long after the meal is done! #COLchat
A1. When we model how to be grateful our students learn from us. We can demonstrate and talk about being grateful for our colleagues and Ss. Our actions and words display this. We need to demonstrate that we are grateful to be able to do what we do. It’s awesome work. #COLchat
Heeeyyy #COLchat! What a wonderful topic for this week of Thanksgiving. This is the first holiday without my Daddy, and it will be so different! I am counting my blessings of health and family.
Roman from Ontario, Canada.
HS ELA Teacher/Student Success Leader/Agent of Transformation.
Great to check in with #COLchat tonight. What I like most about Thanksgiving, being with family.
A1: Modeling. Show Ss how to give Gratitude. Give Gratitude to Ss and Ts. When we put Gratitude Attitudes into action, then Ss see what we do and how we do it. It gives them examples to follow. #COLchat
A1 Practicing gratitude helps to focus on what’s going well - it helps us build a strength-based stance and appreciate all of the greatness in our students! #COLchat
A1: We can model the change in culture that we desire to see. Our gratitude has the power to shift the atmosphere in the school, in the lives of those we lead, and in this world. #colchat
A1. It shows we're human, we don't have all the answers, & we need everyone to be successful. It shows we're appreciate Ss efforts. Gratitude shows we're a team, a family, working together to break the mold, change the game, & challenge status quo. #COLchat
A1: Students are always watching us in and out of class. By seeing the way we treat one another, and listening to the words we use, they discover that showing gratitude is not a one-day event, but a lifestyle. #COLchat
A1 It is important to not only practice gratitude, but to model that practice with our students. When we find time to show thanks for what we have and what we do, we come to class/school with a brighter attitude. Kids need our best everyday. #COLchat

A1 we model gratitude in what we do. Ss in my room know i am grateful to be involved in their lives. Helps Ss take risks, relax n be themselves. I value them as people more than correct answers #COLchat
A1: Gratitude gives us perspective. We get to come to school each weekday. We get to influence and make a difference. We get to make the most of the time we have we kids. Have a 'getta' attitude, not a 'hafta' attitude. :)
#COLchat

A2. Tell people you care about them. You can’t be grateful without caring. We should regularly praise our students for their efforts and thank them when they deserve it. Again, our actions in how we treat people speak for themselves. #COLchat
A2: Recognize and reward. Give them recognition for the great things they do and recognize them in front of their peers. Promote the positivity and successes they have to the school and make it visible in the school. #COLchat
A2: Greeting students at the door...Handwritten notes...Public praise...Attending student events outside of school...Celebrate student strengths #colchat
Hello from NYC! This is Move This World...we're a social emotional learning program for schools K-12! What we love most about Thanksgiving is spending time with family & friends! #COLchat#SEL
A2. We praise them, celebrate them, show enthusiasm & focus when listening to them. Ss love it when I do #GoodNewsCalloftheDay, shout outs in announcements & class, & i LOVE displaying their work on my mobile desk! #COLchat
A2 Showing gratitude to our students all starts with how we treat them. When we great them with a smile, when we are authentic, when we care about who they are and who they become, they know that we are grateful. It is all about our attitude. #COLchat
A2: Stop them. Have face to face conversations and SPECIFICALLY tell them what we love about what they are doing. THIS is my most favorite part of my day. I think it helps me as much as it benefits them. #colchat
Sometimes people tell me that there is no way they could do my job. I think I have the best job ever. I get to observe incredibly talented teachers every single day who are making a difference! I see you teachers and I thank you! #gratitudehttps://t.co/CoaDvricAH#COLchat
A2: Telling a child that we are so happy to see them, and glad they are at school...goes a long way, especially when you tack on a high five, fist bump, or hug! #colchat

A3. Modeling gratitude is key. Our students need to see examples of it. Additionally, we need to remind our students of ways they can demonstrate gratitude. Teach them how to show gratitude and then expect it just like you would an expectation of a standard. #COLchat
A3: It must be modeled everywhere in our schools! It must be modeled by everyone in our schools. Kid are always watching and pick up on much more than we realize. #colchat
A4: Express gratitude twice as frequently as you express disappointment. It ensures you spend more time building than destroying. Our kids, parents, and colleagues need advocates. Nobody actively working with kids wants to be bad for them. Assume best intention. 👍 #BoldSchool
A3 The only way to develop the habit is to make it part of our routine. Do we practice sharing gratitude with others? Do take time to think about what we are thankful for? Do our kids have time to be grateful? If it is important, it will be part of our culture. #COLchat
A3: We start with talking about it. Have Ss talk about what they’re grateful for. We have a character education program that focuses on Gratitude for November. Ss dive into activities and lessons and it puts being grateful at the forefront of their thinking. #COLchat
A3. Model, model, model. We need to be visible so they know we aren't just acknowledging major things. I'm always in the hall & give gratitude for what seems like some things, but I make a huge deal out of it. Other staff & Ss swee this too! #COLchat
A3 create a culture where we celebrate each other, help each other. Competition is great but Ss need to know at the end of the day we r all on the same team, working towards same goals. Learning and growing #COLchat
A3: Practice mindfulness techniques - provide opportunities to reflect on things for which they are grateful. A few minutes on this can change the climate of the class. #COLchat
A4. It is as simple as telling people you are thankful for and appreciate them. Thank people for their efforts and work. Show them with your actions that you appreciate them. Face to face, emails, notes, a pat on the back! #COLchat
#COLChat By giving our best everyday and having real honest conversations with them. Telling them point blank we are here for them and we ain’t going nowhere!
A3: Assigned this today at the end of practice: Reach out to one team member and express your thankfulness for them; tell them WHY. Do the same thing for a family member at home during break. When we return, TELL ME about it! #colchat
A4: offer written notes, recognize them out loud and on paper I utilize social media and a recognition program though our school to recognize my Ts. I utilize love languages to recognize their efforts as well! #COLchat
A4: Just taking the time to let them know they are appreciated. Good habit = be intentional about finding at least one person to thank each day. #COLchat
A4. Praise them, acknowledge them, listen to them. Same as Ss, Ts need to see us at all times modeling gratitude. We start each staff meeting passing out our Gracious Grizzly. It's so awesome hearing why someone is receiving it!#COLchat
A4 telling them! Working to support each other, finding ways to smile n make each other laugh. As a young Ts I had many who built me up when i needed it, try to find ways to do that for others #COLchat
A4: I try to make it a goal each day to intentionally express gratitude toward 2 people. Sometimes it is more! Sometimes, I fall short and always feel less accomplished on those days. #colchat
Awesome stuff and would love to hear more about the mobile desk. I currently have an old cart I throw my laptop on when I am sick of the office. It’s like an office on wheels. Gaudy, yet gets the job done. Send a shot of your mobile desk to see if I am up to par. LOL #COLchat
I use a mobile desk sometimes, but more often I take a backpack with my laptop in it, and a fanny pack to clip my walkie to it. I store pens and notecards in the fanny pack, along with gum and lip gloss! :) I head out and don't come back to the office except to check in. #colchat
A5. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with our wonderfully diverse Ss, staff, and families. I am thankful that I have a team committed to continuous improvement in ourselves and our Ss. I am thankful for the opportunity for our school to be a difference maker. #COLchat
A4 We have to take the time and let them know. We cannot expect others to guess what we feel. Take the time and share a card, send a small thank you gift, a gesture, share a meal. Let them know they matter. #COLchat
A5: My Ss, my Ts, and the community I get to work with day in and day out. I’m also grateful for the opportunity to have my new job in a new school. #COLchat
A5. Continued: I am also thankful for the opportunity to make a difference for others. Each day we have a choice to be the one for students. We have a choice to change the game of education for the better. We choose to have fun! #COLchat
We choose fun:

A3: By giving them LOTS of opportunities to share gratitude with others and making it a planned part of our day! We have kindness journals where we #CelebrateMonday and jot who we are grateful for and why. If it works with elementary Ss it can work for all ages! #COLchat

A5 Ss who i learn from n who r eager to learn, colleagues willing to help n support, family n friends who r there to listen when i need to vent #COLchat
A4: By carving out time to make it happen! Take 5 min a week & write a specific note to a coworker letting them know your appreciation & WHY. Leave post-it notes of gratitude on people's desks. Send an email. Leave a treat. Share your #passionforkindness with gratitude! #COLchat
A2: It's important to communicate that you're grateful. It's always great to stop someone & express how appreciative you are over what they're doing.. it can go a long way. #COLchat
A4: Express gratitude twice as frequently as you express disappointment. It ensures you spend more time building than destroying. Our kids, parents, and colleagues need advocates. Nobody actively working with kids wants to be bad for them. Assume best intention. 👍 #BoldSchool
A5.
1. A staff that supports me & takes risks, not afraid of how I do things.
2. A superintendent that lets me do things my way, even though he knows it's unconventional.
3. Our students! They're working through a lot & still working hard in school!
#COLchat
A5: Relationships with students. Relationships with staff. Relationships with the community. Without relationships, what is the point of what we get to do? #colchat
A6. I won’t use a name because the person might be embarrassed but one of our teachers cont. inspires me with their positive attitude and thankfulness. Always the first person to help a fellow colleague or student. Always puts other peoples' best interests over theirs. #COLchat
A5 I am thankful for my students, my administration and my PLN. Having an incredible PLN that isn't close to home is so important in helping me grow as a person and an educator. My students give me energy & passion. My admin believes in me. #COLchat
A:5 Too many to mention overall, but top 3 today... 1. My secondary EL support teacher has been doing amazing things for the students and program design. 2. My secretary that is amazing. 3. My supportive Superintendent #colchat
A6. The Ss, honestly. Even if it's "that one kid", they always acknowledge & admit I'm doing everything & more for them. They inspire me, when they show gratitude I get even more stoked & know we're doing it right! #COLchat
A6 I have to say that @bmilla84 is an incredible educator who shows gratitude well. From notes, to messages, to surprise gifts from her or her students, she pays attention to every little detail. Nobody does gratitude like Ms. Miller. Blessed to have her sister. #COLchat
A3: Gratitude journals can be a great way to build the habit. Just taking a few minutes each day to sit and reflect on what you're grateful really helps. #COLchat
A5: Job-related thankfulness:
1. Amazing Ss who have a #passionforkindness
2. Ts who allow me to work with their Ss
3. Admin who say YES!

A6: I am inspired by @TaraMartinEDU who reminds me of the power of gratitude, showing thankfulness for the little things in life. She takes the time to teach me new things and is so inspiring with her words and actions! #COLchat
A8. I plan to get out into the classrooms. I will ask people how they are doing. I will show an interest in others and let them know they are important players on our team and students in our school. Hopefully my actions will display my gratitude. #COLchat
Take Action: I hope to take the time and share my gratitude with some key people by recognizing them in person for what they do. I will take the time to make people feel valued. #COLchat
A6: Hands down, @MrPStrunk. He is such a grounded man. Thankful for his voice in my life and that he is just a text away. He knows how to help me keep things centered and is able to help me to get back on track when I go off-road. #colchat
A8: I'm going to make a list of people I need to thank for their assistance and support over the first few months of this school year. And then, I GET to thank them! #COLchat
A5.
1. A staff that supports me & takes risks, not afraid of how I do things.

Gratitude is like muscle. The more we do with it the stronger it gets. In this spirit here are 5 ways to practice Thanksgiving every day of the year. https://t.co/dG0kVPStku
A7. Honestly could not name all of the people I have met on Twitter. It’s been a great network and resource. The people in our educational network are always willing to help another person even people they’ve never met. Why? We are a Culture of Learning! #COLchat
Great stuff. Have definitely enjoyed hearing the ideas from these awesome people! Some I have yet to run into on Twitter but I am sure I will! #COLchat
