Sound the trumpets! is Saturday, Nov 5! A most positive & connected PD experience! Register https://t.co/Lit0p31kDi
A1) Comment feature is one of my favorites to start side conversations over ideas in a Doc.
Has improved collaboration among teachers.
I use Google Forms to gather feedback from Ts and paras about PD that we provide
Thanks. I'm still learning a lot, but my team is jumping in and getting Googley this year.
A1: IMO GAFE has fundamentally changed the classroom. Assigning, grading, getting student feedback, etc is faster + easier

I missed q1 and can't find it! Please repost!!!

A1: Our T's and Admins use it from Collaborative works to using forms to do Walk-Thrus
A1: all of my assignments are posted in GClassroom. However, they still need to write, so they write them in lab book.
Hey ! Music Teacher from West Franklin. Long time reader first time chiming in.

Same here! We can learn together!
I use it for parent and student debt surveys and mid year and end of year. Easier than other platforms.
A1 Staff meetings are way easier with Google Docs
Could someone repost question 1?
Love the balance. It doesn't have to be one or the other, it can be both.
I like the collaboration ability among t using docs, forms and sheets. How is it working with s, esp elementary level?
I can't see the questions either, but I'm going to check my settings to participate in
A1: Google Drive is super accessible on all devices. I can access everything everywhere!
A1. Also great to collaborate w/ other Ts!
A1: It has helped make days when I'm gone easier. A copy of sub plans and instructions go to all Ss. Making less confusion!
A1 Its nice to be able to have teachers share documents with their students teachers so we can have access to their work
I love being able to collaborate on projects in real-time.
A1: Fav add-ons: mindmeister, easy bib, thesaurus. Fav extensions: google keep, my study life (for Ss), and Kami of course!

1st chat, I am a little overwhelmed with how this works, but wow I can already tell I am going to learn A LOT!
A1: I'm more organized using GSuite/GAFE. And I love I don't have to worry about what device I use, just log into my account
Not sure what the question is, but I love some of the new features in Forms
a1) I use it to keep student data; communicate with my Paras; and the students in our JH use classroom and drive for assignments!
is hopping tonight! Don't worry if you miss parts of it.
Thanks! I hate that I've had to miss lately, made sure I was back from Pokemon hunting in time, can make my rubric later.
Great suggestion, sometimes Drive becomes overwhelming when you are working on dozens of docs w other Ts
A1: We use G forms to schedule IEP meetings, and recently started a behavior tracking system for a student, nothing fancy!!!
Ohhh love this. My G Drive folder is starting to look a lot like my Pinterest...need some major org. work
a2 helps my ss buy in. They see a screen and connect. They can find their work easier, collaborate better,
great idea for the folders.
A1 SHARING! I love being able to share with one person, groups, the whole world, etc… It cuts down on so many sharing shenanigans.
Yes! Google Keep is an amazing tool for both lesson planning and to model the planning of writing! … https://t.co/hcNG1Ij2jp

A2) From what I see in classrooms, GAFE has allowed for seamless dissemination of materials, & has the ability to organize Ss
I push out forms to elem Ss by using Google Classroom. My 3rd/4th gr use it with no problem.
A2: teaches kids skills they can use in jobs, helps promote collaboration
A2 Makes it easier to work in classroom groups because everyone can work on the same doc from different locations!
Eric from Frontenac running behind! 7-12 technology

I love using Google on all my devices. I can work from my phone!
A2: Using Google Forms as a quick assessment piece with real time results.
A2- Always being able to see and comment on a Ss most recent work makes a T more productive. No need to hunt down assignments
Q2 helps teach collaboration to students
Not just no more lost paper, with revision history, can even undo accidental DELETIONS!
A2. My Ss get feedback so much more quickly than if we were doing paper/pencil. I can comment and suggest edits in docs.
Jenny from Augusta here. K-5 Rdg specialist. Sorry for being late. Was putting the kiddos to bed!
I recently used forms to survey my Ss on a major project. Love all the charts and the ease of reading their responses!
would you mind sharing a generic version on your behavior tracking system?
I would add it puts the responsibility of learning in them bc they always have the materials https://t.co/KHiZpQsrdl

A2 Instant feedback for S using slides or docs while SS are working (from Gclassroom)
A2 cont. teachers feel more organized too
A2. Ss have access to their work from anywhere w/ internet, puts more responsibility on them!
Google has given me a chance to share things and then remember who I share with. Also love forms for feedback.
Q1 I love that Google saves my work automatically. I love having access to all my files on any device. I can have many at once on
A2: GAFE can extend your classroom not only in space but time as well
A2b: Collaboration is nice too. Kids can work on projects without being in the same location.
A2: It is helping my Ss become more and more independent. They don't have excuses they used to for not completing work.
Or cheating https://t.co/2pWMuGIOuR
Not just no more lost paper, with revision history, can even undo accidental DELETIONS!
Well said, Jill! https://t.co/wmTbsG74g7

A2) GAFE allows timely feedback from Ts on Ss' work so learning can accelerate.
A2-Ss more excited/engaged.1st day I showed them how we'd be using it, my phone kept dinging as kids sent me cool/thanks comments.
students can get to assignments and tutorials from anywhere.
I like the idea of using forms for behavior tracking. I use forms daily for notes from rdg conferences
A1: I love students ability to not lose their files! (It's in word) lol
A2: ❤️how easy it is for them to work collaboratively on projects! Allows for research right in the doc! https://t.co/PmGi6CNBaX
A2. I can keep track of student work in real time, can check in w/o having to hover over them. Some S respond better 2 comment.
I wonder if I could use this with my meeting agendas. Find a way to see who is actually reading the info?
https://t.co/e1zmAZdVN4
Or cheating https://t.co/2pWMuGIOuR
Not just no more lost paper, with revision history, can even undo accidental DELETIONS!
Q3 coming up in 2 minutes!

hello! Rachel here, TL from Hesston. Mostly lurking 2nite bc trying to get kids to bed but love GAFE! Excited to get new ideas.

Wanted to say thanks again to all the great ideas from last week, inspired me to do student conference vids in today!
A2: Everyone has access to group projects. No more "he/she had the file"
Yes, motivation improves b/c Ss collaborate and have real audience, each other, when commenting or … https://t.co/S6YTFCRpnh
A2) Allows for blended classroom...students working and collaborating while I get 1 to 1 time with others.
G Docs allows Ss w special needs to participate in the same writing curriculum from a less stimulating enviro
Or when a presentation is on, and that 1 ss with the jump drive is absent!
A bit late to . Just lurking tonight as I finish painting my kitchen ceiling! 😳
2 from WYO thanking KS for sharing
Q2 is the one I'm interested in hearing about. I would think students love it but my daughter does not. How can it work for s.
Sound like I'm seriously underusing Forms! Will have to remedy that!
A2. I also use GClassroom to differentiate, put Ss in "classes" based on ability, interest, etc... depending on unit.
Yes, and I can get to my things anywhere too!
A2. GAFE definitely keeps my classroom collaborative. It's a great way to see who is working on collab. docs.
Looks like I need to get going with as well.

A2: Collaboration is one of the best parts of Google. Also love the immediate feedback that students can get!
A2: Love the collaboration. More than 1 Ss working at a time. Also, so efficient! I can monitor and provide quick feedback!
A2 has opened the doors to collaboration and access with ease to support learning without the typical limitations
why / what does she not like?
A3: Docs. Opening sentence, play telephone. Slides: Ss create term flash cards. Forms: Ss can create their own assessments
How do you limit the sharing time?
Love Forms and how easy it is to use within Google Classroom. https://t.co/27cfnKAGek
Sound like I'm seriously underusing Forms! Will have to remedy that!
A3: collaborative projects in Slides are my fav! Had all Ss in one today, but can also have all group members in one.
A3) When I make an agenda for a meeting, I make it in a Doc ahead of time, & allow team members to add to agenda as they like
A3: We used it for lab reports to have kids collab. Use a Google form for a school-wide bathroom pass
You can work on documents or slides together if you share it. There is also notes for collaboration and feedback.
A3. To be honest, this is one I haven't done much with. They read each other's writing and comment/give feedback.
A3) Love using Docs for meetings. Get everyone typing on the same doc and making notes.
A3: Also love to see Ss create Forms to survey Ss as part of Genius Hour and other projects
Interested in how you do this!
A3: Love it when Ss collab in Docs & Slides...but how about Sheets? I use that a lot, too, even in ELA!
A4 my Ss are Ts. I use Classroom for meeting info and sharing of group specific info
A3: class discussion! We are all on it taking notes as a group.
A3: Google Classroom has spread like wildfire in my building. I like the real time feedback.
We do this for weekly PLC agenda and nice that everyone can add items throughout the week. https://t.co/4xecxYY5eg
A3) When I make an agenda for a meeting, I make it in a Doc ahead of time, & allow team members to add to agenda as they like
Sheets is my weakness. We dabble on occasion with it. Should do more!
A2) Ss can share pics/videos from field w/Ts
A3. I use it more with coworkers to edit joint docs, PLC notes, etc...
A3) We had a school waive a snow day because Ss were online working from home during a snowstorn
A3: my Earth/Space kids worked on Geologic Time Scale presentations collaboratively. I could see who did what,
A3) Gotta brag on my art T. He uses Google+ Community for Ss to share pic of work, and use comments for weekly critiques.
This should read A3. https://t.co/UcsBPcdb1H

You should brag! I like the idea! https://t.co/uDdDwF8HEx
A3) Gotta brag on my art T. He uses Google+ Community for Ss to share pic of work, and use comments for weekly critiques.
Awesome for Ps too! They don't have to worry about getting Ss hw when they are ill or have to be gone
A3c: But as Ts, we also work collaboratively - let each other know what Ss should be doing in HR, keeping track of "watch list"
I think I'm going to need a day to "play" after this chat!
A3: for our Archaeology project teams created a shared folder for pics, docs, and G. Slides. Then shared it w/ me. Worked great!
our admin also created a shared folder in drive w important docs so everyone could access.
Best way to learn right there! Don't be afraid to try things out w ss.
Yes! When Ps ask me, I tell them "check classroom!" It's been great!
A3: Colleague used GAFE to host a discussion during presidential debate, live as it was happening.
I'm guilty of not allowing my Ts enough time to do this...
https://t.co/cN2tlo5qcC
I think I'm going to need a day to "play" after this chat!
a4 ooooh brilliant thing I'm not doing... yet.
A3) used hangouts to allow a "Homebound student" to participate She wasn't physically at school but didn't miss out on school.
me too! I use google a lot but still much more to learn!
I tell my Ss there is nothing wrong w/ that! I try to offer choice btw paper & tech. Sometimes they do have to use it!
A great way to check on vocab is to have the kids create a word cloud - my students love it!
Q4. Need ideas here! I do have Ps check on S work in GClassroom.
A4-Honestly I haven't beyond showing them at conferences& asking them to have their child show them as well.Looking for ideas/help.
A3) Team research, class slide presentations. Ss using 4 social media professionalism project this week.
A4. Our teacher classroom websites are built in Google Sites. Most building sites are too.
Ack! I have not been playing with Forms enough this year! Gotta get on it!
A3 Gen Ed and Sped Ts collaborate on IEP goals and curriculum mods on G suite
A4: Using forms will allow Stakeholders to have voice,
A4: Google classroom has a parent feature now! Has anyone used it yet?
Same. Anybody using Forms to collect info from Ps? I thought that might come up as part of A4. https://t.co/vJyutKlOkK
A4. Our teacher classroom websites are built in Google Sites. Most building sites are too.
Q4: Is anyone using the invite parent feature in Classroom? Having trouble getting info out to parents
google site for my library.
A4) Would love if GAFE had a better interface to share Classroom with Ps. Current option not very "friendly."
What? where! How! Tell me more!
we tried but I never got into it.
A4: We are pretty one way in this regard...put it on classroom or sheets and have Ps read the info. Very little interaction.
A4 have Ss create portfolio using Sites share link with Ps.
Dumbest Google Name yet.
Is that an admin feature or a T feature?
A4. (Plus other too) I have class blogs thru blogger where each S is a contributor. Ps &mother Ts can read & comment on writing
A4 No classroom, but how about a shared folder with class pics/vids? Also have Ss put EVERYTHING in 1 folder shared with their Ps
It is there under students tab. I think you had to add parent emails in 1 at a time. I haven't tried it yet.
my son does too! But the more he works with the tech, the better he likes it
Ask about the parent training for Google Classroom they have been doing for a local middle school
A4: very little. I feel like I'm still a beginner just trying to figure it out. Would love to use it to post daily lesson plans
are great for meetings that all Ts can add notes into & add to each meeting
Oops, I forgot about that. We have done that a couple of times.
We've looked into it. If one T invites a P, that P has access to emails from ALL S's classes & P has to have gmail.
I found my HW from for tomorrow!
Q4) I use a google form for my Paras and myself to document for my SPED students! Parents see what is happening in "real time"
Just joining in from Ontario, Canada
A4: We have used forms to gather feedback on events and collect information from Ts as applications for Prof. Dev. Classes
A4: Parents choose to be shared on G suite assignments to help out at home and see exactly what the S sees in class
doesn't seem user friendly....... not sure parents want all my posts either?
We have some parents using it. Haven't heard how it's going. https://t.co/i7QepS3xvV
Q4: Is anyone using the invite parent feature in Classroom? Having trouble getting info out to parents
How do I find that? Have you used it? https://t.co/QP85J6kh4t
A4: Google classroom has a parent feature now! Has anyone used it yet?
Notes/schmotes. I want my Ts helping me build the agendas collaboratively! I make mine editable.
Still… https://t.co/RUx7TEcmpL
are great for meetings that all Ts can add notes into & add to each meeting
Yeah, I'd be curious to see how they find it. I might trial-run it with a few techy Ps first.
Ive tried, but not sure parents are gettinging info.
Don't know if you would call an app, but I use it ALL the time for photos and videos that I share on my FB page.
I am very interested in the parent features within GAFE..our board is currently exploring Edsby as an alternative to GAFE though
I think that is key. Learning the tips & tricks to make tech work for you! Ts & Ss have to be willing to try it out
A3 and A4: Have a lot to learn here. Really liking the responses I am seeing! Tons of great ideas!
Have you tried this yet?
https://t.co/1q9HBZRp8H
Q4: Is anyone using the invite parent feature in Classroom? Having trouble getting info out to parents
A4: just completed a parent university in use of Google Classroom
A4: I have used sheets to keep my band boosters in check, so that each have access to Fundraisers and Bookkeeping
For the Media Center--not just my personal page.
I set it up. I cant tell if parents are getting regular emails or not from GC
I love Forms. Use it for my students quizzes.
A4 Has anyone used the "guardian email summaries" from GC? Seems like a great way to involve Parents https://t.co/5xtyZKgB1w
A4 The app allows Ss to get notification but safely stored in district domain to protect Ss & Ts
is the place to be tonight! Just trying to keep up! 😊
me too! Someone encouraged me!
There has been a lot of interest in this tonight in . Seems like a lot of Ts hadn't heard of it yet? https://t.co/rNNDDItxz6
A4 Has anyone used the "guardian email summaries" from GC? Seems like a great way to involve Parents https://t.co/5xtyZKgB1w
I do something similar. I also put a shortcut to the form on the home screen of my tablet. One tap & I'm right there
I do this too! And for when we have videos for HW. embed video, include questions, bam, T knows if s did hw!
Thanks. I'll need to spend time with it, not seeing it right away.
I'm glad you mentioned this, Tonya! Hidden gem of ! https://t.co/4atZptVanN
Don't know if you would call an app, but I use it ALL the time for photos and videos that I share on my FB page.
A5: Google docs facilitate collaboration. Forms gets info. Keep is interactive agenda. https://t.co/D6m90UKPlq
Q5 is my fave (b/c I don't like meetings!) Do you use to make some of your meetings/PD digital?… https://t.co/yg5enyrkNX
A4 - it has been useful in working with our School Councils (revising our Constitution, creating agendas, collaborative projects)
I LOVE Google photos. The auto upload of pics from my phone is amazing.
I know!!!!! Lots to think about and moving very quickly!!
A5: My goal this year has been to not spend time in meetings on things that can be a Gmail. Saves time for T learning :)
this is such a great idea, what does it ok like?
Courtney Saia. Middle Level Science (7th). Lawrence, KS. Student Teacher. Logging on late to see what was up to tonight.
Oh, thanks. We're not a GAFE school, just Ts using Classroom & such. Not sure it that makes a differnece.
A5: are fun way for students to learn geography and about the world.
Hope I’m not too late to Thought I’d pop in for the last bit.
A5: So many ways to have dig. meetings other than e-mail; we use GClassroom for tech PD (a great way to introduce Ts to it, too!)
A5: Google classroom private comment is great to interact with student at school and home.
Lots of great talk about !
A5. Haven't used it much but have collaborated on presentations between f2f meetings. Plus team uses it for lots!
Thanks for the info about this chat! I'm late, I need to carch up.
Our HS started doing this! As a P I love it! Makes me feel more connected to my HS S.
Gen Ed Sped collaboration time is enhanced with G suite - Ts can share and modify unit objectives and daily objectives/tasks
A5: Previously used Google Docs to collaborate on a SIT intervention form instead of sitting around the table discussing
Has anyone helped Ss build organization skills using calendar, task list, and/or keep? Interested to hear about it
Has anyone helped Ss build organization skills using calendar, task list, and/or keep? Interested to hear about it
fantastic! When Ts feel apart of the meeting, they have an investment in the conversation. Great team mindset
I'm sure your Ts appreciate that.
