This is the official Twitter account for #OklaEd, thehashtag that brings OK educators together. #OklaEd is not political & promotes constructive dialogue.
Shari Gateley, 11th Grade ELA, Putnam City West HS. I will not be at #edcampOKC because I have an all day NBCT meeting with the best @ClaudiaSwisher#oklaed
Happy Sunday, #OKLAED! Lara with #NSUEngEd in Tahlequah. Saturday is a busy day of awesome conferences— I won’t be able to attend #EdCampOKC, but I’ll be representing at ORA and discussing #ReadALot.
Kim, 4th grade teacher at Norman public schools, Unfortunately I will not be at @EdCampOKC because I will be in Kansas for a @Pink concert. #oklaed but I'm here now. :)
Jack Reed, Principal at Emerson Alternative High School in @OKCPS, I will try to be there but have to get my family ready for me leaving to the National Alternative Education Association Conference March 5-7 in Dallas. #oklaed
See of the the cool tweeps IRL (In Real Life) because that doesn’t happen too often…if we could get @jcbjr here…somehow. Anyone know anyone with a plane?
#oklaed
Have you ever asked your students what they’re interested in learning? Or their thoughts about certain lessons? Or are you stuck teaching the same curriculum year after year, fighting to keep… #oklaed#elaok#rethinkela#iteachela#elahttps://t.co/nKRDu16dlx
A1 - Uhm coffee, donuts, bacon, possible unicorn sightings (looking at you @meghanloyd!) I mean what else could someone want?
In all serious though I am looking forward to the interaction with and learning from all of the other great educators that are a part of #oklaed
A1) #EdcampOKC is a great place to mix and mingle with like education enthusiast. Not to mention the opportunity to actually ask face to face about anything you need more info about. GREAT time!! #oklaed
A1- The chance for real talk with real educators about what's real in Oklahoma Education today. Super excited to share about NBCT opportunities, and side hustle options. #oklaed
A1 - I've never actually been to an #edcampokc and had it on my calendar until I got the dates for our NBCT state meeting :( Next time for sure! I love getting to collaborate with people outside of my building! #oklaed
A1) I remember the 1st EdCamp I attended before the EngageOK event at the Cox Center in OKC before it went on the road. I liked how the sessions were created on the spot and I met great educators like @andredaughty who facilitated sessions. I learned a lot. #oklaed
A1: "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference"
I will be attending the ORA in OKC instead. I apologize! But...some PD is better than none!
#oklaed
Seeing colleagues I rarely talk with in "real-life" and meeting others I have never met anywhere other than the twittersphere. Oh, and learning some stuff too. #oklaed
A1 I love getting to meet new people, see old friends, and learn new new things. I also love having a choice in what I learn, & being able to hide somewhere if I need time to process what I've just learned. #oklaed
A1: 2 reasons
1. I’m all for any chance to get smarter about teaching.
2. Our HS tried out the unconference format for our last PD. I’d love more experience with it!
#oklaed
I have a dear friend who is starting the #NBCT process this year as an English teacher. Her name is Tessa Martin, and I hope you will join @ClaudiaSwisher as a mentor and guide to her. She teaches an alternative program, so will have to adapt it to fit her mix! #oklaed
A1. Reconnecting with colleagues, making new colleagues, and the possibilities of partnering and helping schools/districts in the future. #oklaed#connect
A2) I really want to get some more ideas about virtual field trips and global adventures. There are a TON of great options and I'm curious what others are currently using. #oklaed
A2- I am on a quest for hope. Not finding it in so many of the places around my teaching experience right now. #EdCampOKC seems to be a gathering place of those really expecting great things in #oklaed
A2 - If I were attending, I would want to hear how others implement PBL in their classrooms and tech. I'm trying to go as paperless as possible! #oklaed
A2) Will there be a session called #oklaed ? Wouldn't it be cool to meet everyone in person? Wait, save it for next time - I have another meeting Saturday!
A1: that moment when you break for lunch and see all these #edcampers out in the wild wearing their EdCamp shirts and totally freaking all the normal people out Cause they're like "Uh oh what are these teachers up to now?!" #oklaed
A2) I am hoping to find what educators' thoughts are about Alternative Education. What is their definition of Alternative Education? What is the goal of Alt Ed? And what students should be served by Alt Ed? I may need to facilitate a session. ? #oklaed
This will be the third year @coach57 and I have not been able to attend. We were a big part of it until it was moved to the first weekend in March. We will prob not ever be able to attend unless it is moved to another weekend #oklaed
A2 - If I were attending, I would want to hear how others implement PBL in their classrooms and tech. I'm trying to go as paperless as possible! #oklaed
One of the strengths of #edcamp is its all Weekend Warriors who genuinely want to be there. It's easier to find hope in a positive atmosphere. #oklaed#edcampOKC
A2- I am on a quest for hope. Not finding it in so many of the places around my teaching experience right now. #EdCampOKC seems to be a gathering place of those really expecting great things in #oklaed
A3 - This will be my first @EdCampOKC but I do not know this - if it is not the session for you get up and find one that suits better. Make the day all about learning what you need. #oklaed
A3: If you are not getting what you need in a session, don’t waste your valuable time, use your feet and go to another session, your feet are made for walkin’ #oklaed
A3 Vote with your feet...if the conversation isn't for you get up and find what works for you! No one is hurt or offended...this is a day for you to get what you need! #oklaed
#OklaEd A2: IF I were at #edcampOKC, I’d really like to discuss Servant Leadership as it helps improve learning facilitated by teacher serving leaders.
A2. I remember the first few, I was in the mindset to give more than to receive, but this time I may just sit and "receive" all day!
#maybe#weshallsee
Oh, and I'm bringing my Queen with me too this time!
#oklaed
A3) I think the rule of two feet is that if you go to a session and it isn't what you thought, or you aren't getting anything from it then you just go to another session. Your two feet take you to where you need to be. #oklaed
Btw. Bringing some future teachers again and hoping to do a session for them in slot 2. #edcampokc please come to recruit or answer their questions #OklaEd
Mike Dunn. Del City High School. Athletic Director/Head Ball Coach. Can’t make it to @EdCampOKC because of the Area Basketball tournament.. I am very interested in this event though. #oklaed
A4) Because there is SOOOOO much to learn and SOOOO little time. Grab the info you need and can use and then move on and go find more information from another session! Lol #edcampOKC#oklaed
A4 as a presenter, I would want to provide quality content to make sure people aren't bored and just there to be nice to me. The rule provides the opportunity to leave if needed #edcampOKC#OklaED
A4: I think sometimes one of the most frustrating things regarding PD is feeling forced to participate. How lovely to know you can make choices for yourself... yanno... like an adult #oklaed
A4 I feel the rule of two feet is one of the amazingthings that makes EDCamp so special. It makes me feel 100% that it is all tailored for my own professional needs! ❤️#oklaed
A4 I want information that will benefit myself and my class; if a session is not for me, then I will respectfully exit and find one that is better suited. #oklaed
A4: I think sometimes one of the most frustrating things regarding PD is feeling forced to participate. How lovely to know you can make choices for yourself... yanno... like an adult #oklaed
A4: Life is too short to sit around in a PD that doesnt pertain to you. If it doesnt meet your needs, then GIT.
I use the rule with more than Edcamp. Sometimes, not always a twitter chat goes that way for me. I dont stick around if I cannot grow.
#oklaed
A4. It allows for voice + choice= Loyalty. PD should make Ts feel like professionals who can make decisions based on what we need to develop our T identities. We don’t need someone to dictate/prescribe those needs, so it allows for opportunity to self assess/reflect. #OKLAED
A4: As educators, we’re there to learn and grow professionally. So many amazing educators sharing...if it’s not what we need in that session then it will be in another. #oklaed
A3 & A4. Believe it or not, I've seen more leave because they "wanted a taste of multiple sessions" more than the "It's not what I need."
I've also seen a person be in one session and stream another one. Can't remember you did it though. #genius#oklaed
So much CAN’T be conveyed in a session title or 25-word description! We need PD session trailers! ... oh wait, that would break the #edcampokc rule of no PPTs 🤔 #oklaed
I mean... having @ebarnes73 and @TeachFromHere in my ears when I work out is huge motivation. I bet there is an effect size for PD podcasts that get your brain moving faster than your feet!? #oklasaid#oklaed

A5. The principal (or admin) looking for a keynote speaker to energize, inform, inspire and challenge his/her staff in the fall.
*cough see Andre Daughty. He is awesome cough cough*
#smallplug#oklaed
To piggy back on Tonya, I would like to learn how STEAM is being implemented in high schools. I also want to learn about STEAM lessons in the Lang Arts classroom. #oklaed#EdcampOKC
A5. #realtalk, The educators who are going to continue to discussion on what equity and equality looks like in today's schools and how racism and cognitive dissonance plays a HUGE role in our society. #oklaed
A6 - When learning becomes personalized it becomes much more meaningful, participants become more lively, engaged, and enthusiastic. They leave energized instead of drained. #oklaed
A5. I really enjoyed my 2 on 1 #EdCampOKC session last year w @ClaudiaSwisher & @mrjoshflores... sometimes conferences are hard for introverts, so it works well to be able to connect w PD thought partners for quality discussions. Ido like the energy of so many awesome #OKLAED Ts!
A5- Ts considering National Board and want a safe place to talk about the sometimes scary idea and how to hit it right from the beginning. #NEAJumpStart#oklaed

And As I was typing this it hit me - if this is how we see learning as adults shouldn't that inform what we are doing day to day in our classes with our Ss?!?!? #oklaed
A6 - When learning becomes personalized it becomes much more meaningful, participants become more lively, engaged, and enthusiastic. They leave energized instead of drained. #oklaed
A6. #realtalk, I'm for anything that can help educators, whether it be an unconference or a formal conference. As long as people can grow and learn- which will help our students. #oklaed
A6) When I’m learning the most, I’m a collaborator not a consumer! I do my best learning just pinging ideas off colleagues and sharing thinking! #oklaed#okcedcamp
Working in Google sheets...I have a drop down with text and number...ex PS 0.5, PS 1, IS 0.5, IS 1. I have conditional formatting set to change cell colors. I need to sum just the number in those cells. HELP! #oklaed#googleedu#googlesheets
A6) The unconference model works because it isn't pre-planned for us. We come and the sessions are put together at the beginning and we pick the ones we want. If nothing is there then we can facilitate a session. "If you build it they will come." #oklaed
A6: it works because the sessions are centered around the PD we need... we can find our rockstars and beg them to get on the board and then we can go there!#oklaed
A6: I love the idea that all of us are smarter than one of us.
AND it’s a place educators get the respect they deserve as experts in their field! #oklaed
A6: I can answer this one.. Bc it's less structured and everyone has a voice. Too often at PD one person does all the talking. This is not constructive. Not beneficial. Everyone in your audience has something to offer. #oklaed
A7 - Even if you are there for the first time, feel free to share your talents and knowledge. Sign up to present. It’s about passion, learning, and sharing. Not about expertise #oklaed
A6: I love the idea that all of us are smarter than one of us.
AND it’s a place educators get the respect they deserve as experts in their field! #oklaed
A6 The flexible unconference lends itself to adventure and discovery! I'm generally pretty open to new ideas, but it makes me feel even moreso. #oklaed
If you're the only one doing the talking at a PD session,.. trust me your audience is bored, and not retaining a thing. and please do NOT read a power point to them. #oklaed
Gotta go a little early peeps. I gotta get materials ready for me being in VA three days this week. See my @EdCampOKC peeps on the call on Tuesday. See everyone in Norman in the afternoon #oklaed
A7: Talk to people you do not know. It’s such a great chance to meet people that become valuable members in your PLN. It’s the only thing keeping many of us in #oklaed
A7) You will not offend anyone if you use the two feet rule; Do not be worried that the conference has a prefix un- in front, it all works out because educators run it. #oklaed#EdcampOKC
Yo, dawg. I heard you like collaborating with #Oklaed chatters! So next week we're having an #Oklaed chat about collaborating, #collaboratED! But be sure to do your homework and take the 16personalities test and bring your results!
https://t.co/rmuBVFS5xX
#OklaEd A7: Remember you’re there to learn and to facilitate others’ learning —> prior to that day, Consider what your interests are for your learning AND what you like enough to offer to others.
A8: I want to know how people use homework effectively. (I know, I know, the newest thing is to be against homework. Don’t @ me!) My pre-AP kiddos want to go to medical school someday. How do I prepare them for that without killing their love of reading??? #oklaed
A7.
1. Newbies: Find 3-5 people you've never seen before (whilst getting coffee/food) and introduce yourselves.
2. Old folks/ seasoned edcampers: Remember the first time you were alone at EdCamp, don't let the newbies feel that way. Invite them to lunch too.
#sayhi#oklaed
A8. Hmmm...Microsoft anyone? (Most of you are google) I don't know about facilitate but I would love to talk/collaborate @BookCreatorApp , @Flipgrid ...apps for early elem. #oklaed

REALLY! Need someone to do a session on this and send me the notes! Any Moore Peeps willing to take this one on for our future tech redesign and updates? #oklaed
A8: Some of the cool things I have learned @BotballRobotics and how I can now build one by myself :) Might take me awhile, but I can do it 💪🏼👩🏻 #oklaed
A8 I'm honestly looking forward to taking a seat and listening next week...but I'm not universally known for keeping my mouth shut either so it's a gamble. #oklaed
A9- Did an EdCamp in Denton TX on a university, the young teachers-to-be were the kind of inspiration I needed that gives us career teachers fresh momentum. The view from another state was also hugely beneficial. #oklaed
