Hi Nancy! I think both intentional and impromptu professional growth are important!

A1-The summer will fly by!! Plan now to get it all in!!!
I’m a big fan of Hilton Head, but we’ll be on the Emerald Coast this summer.

🕶 Busy = Alive https://t.co/lkFKjhT3RM
Learning, projects, presenting, sharing, leading, growing… You will be a busy girl.
A1: Summer learning is reflection based and independent. All professionals need this sabbatical time to investigate and grow
yes, it will slip away fast! It also helps me coordinate with friends. I like to travel in herds.
A1: I will be teaching an ESL summer camp for 2 weeks and participating in PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators
Hello PLN joining in late Rizza k-3 from Philippines

A1- setting goals can help learning be purposeful to impact desired outcomes.
Planning PD 4 next fall. Integration, collaboration, DigLit, & integration w/edtech anyone know of good Tech PD in LA over summer?
Hi Sara! So glad you could join the chat tonight!
a1 I agree - conferences in summer when you are not spending the whole time worrying about next day’s work
A1 time to catch up with reading, learning new things to apply and try for next school year
A1 it's important to address what we want to work on/improve for next year and to stay current https://t.co/GZvuisbLUG
Yes can't forget that reflection piece! https://t.co/4RDGfe6D26
A1: Summer learning is reflection based and independent. All professionals need this sabbatical time to investigate and grow
A1. Setting a schedule also allows me to set benchmarks. This keeps me on task. Can't let time slip away!
a1 Every year I try to go to at least one conference that I’ve not attended before to hear what other parts of the field talk about
Jumping in late !! Bridget Visser, Literacy Specialist from GCISD!
A1: I wil be planning for some PD presentations I am doing in the fall too! Don't want to wait till last minute
A1 Sometimes it seems the ONLY time educators really soak up what they learn is in relaxed summer pd - if meaningful!
A1: Anytime you have a plan that is intentional, you get the most learning from it.
Love this idea! Great way to check in with others! https://t.co/FilP6Zhyhj
a1 Every year I try to go to at least one conference that I’ve not attended before to hear what other parts of the field talk about
Oh Sandra, I’m so sorry you are sick. I miss you too!!! Hugs from the PLN!
A summer pd also allows for "long form" sessions. You can have full day, or multi day excursions that are harder during the year
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
A1: Professional learning energizes me and inspires me to reflect and rethink
Hi Justin! Thx for joining tonight! How’ve you been???
I would love to go to ISTE, sounds like an amazing conference
We are continually learning & growing as educators. We can focus on areas we would like to grow in https://t.co/B0koEisF6z
A2: I read...read... read.. and while I do that, I tweet, tweet, tweet.
one of my hs teachers is between Ireland and England right now, the scenery is INCREDIBLE
I'll be at too. We'll have to find each other
I focus on areas I LOVE and want to GROW in. During the yr we are to learn so many things, this is OUR time! https://t.co/ZZTRq2yRpW
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
A2: I look at areas for growth and find opportunities that will help me learn more or go deeper in an area
A2: I choose my PDs in (2 areas) 1. Some area I want to improve on 2. Learn something brand new
ISTE is in San Antonio in 2017. Make plans now go be there.
A2 I have a few books on my lists, checking in on Twitter a few trainings when I return, teaching overseas
A2 As a PD provider I worry that many people, not just tchrs, keep choosing things they like but already know about
A2. I choose it based on where I need to grow. I determine this by reflection. I also choose things that interest me, like tech.
I choose the things that are hardest to do during the school year...I.e. READ, READ, READ!!
A2 attend conferences if there is, if none webinars are great also, pursue my post grad course
A2: based on what I feel I was lacking in this year, what I can make better for next year. https://t.co/uh6dDJrOk2
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
That would be a great meet up! I have family in San Antonio & always want to make it to ISTE.
Yes sharing on Twitter hopefully learning with others here too! https://t.co/hbBCKd6yxU
A2: I read...read... read.. and while I do that, I tweet, tweet, tweet.
A2-any learning, especially in summer, has to allow for connections with others to push thinking, time for reflection & application
A2 I know lots of chats are taking summer breaks anyone know of some good ones to check in on over summer?
A2 I choose based on the needs of my campus & campus goals. I also choose PD that aligns to my interests/passions.
A2 ex. some college profs attend research conferences in their field every year, but don’t update for the other courses they teach
RT Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/gI125Na7yC
A2P1: I communicate with professors, classmates, friends, etc and decide what I can fit with a work schedule
True! It's always easy to be comfy, especially in summer but good to step outside box while you have time! https://t.co/Z1NeDuvnKu
A2 As a PD provider I worry that many people, not just tchrs, keep choosing things they like but already know about
Agree!! As a PD provider, I want 2 ensure Ts have a large take away of new knowledge. https://t.co/L83V65XIpC
A2 As a PD provider I worry that many people, not just tchrs, keep choosing things they like but already know about
I want something to start using Monday morning. Doesn't have to be finished Monday, but if I can't start implementing fast, I'm out
LOL!!! That’s a new one I haven’t heard before. : )
A2:In what I lack more of. I just plan to be a better and more improved teacher each year. https://t.co/lkf0VFJpH4
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
Good point it should also be a time for growth, pick areas that you need help with! https://t.co/kMt3hgXDkA
A2 As a PD provider I worry that many people, not just tchrs, keep choosing things they like but already know about
A2 SEEMS good, but might it mean you don’t get help in an area that you could use support? Tough balance https://t.co/XIQAUHohoI
A2 I choose based on the needs of my campus & campus goals. I also choose PD that aligns to my interests/passions.
A2: I like to see what PD our school offers during summer and also PD that interests me and seems applicable to my class/campus
Welcome So glad you could join during your Wednesday! https://t.co/PzfbxhaQVi
Hello PLN joining in late Rizza k-3 from Philippines
A2: I'm driven first by passion! 1 thing I WANT to learn more. Then, choose 1 thing I NEED to learn more. https://t.co/KRsIxGSPcj
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
This sounds like me!!!! Isn't it the perfect time to catch up on that stack of books!?
Sorry, Jessica, Elem AP, late to the tonight...stormy weather and a great chat which lines up with this chat 2night
A3 Haven’t seen anyone suggest that they MAKE the PD they want to pursue - like unconference or edcamp in summer?
A2P2: I'm a coaching minor and stay involved softball over summer so I can keep up changes in the game through PD/observation
Based on student needs (data), teacher needs (horizontal and vertical planning), and campus goals😊👍 https://t.co/gWM6uKQ1h7
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
A2 My district offers a weeklong summer institute for teachers, I get to choose what workshops to attend https://t.co/N7pjk3LJ2E
Q2: How do you choose your summer PD? What is your plan for professional growth this summer? https://t.co/BU0wuM6QlI
HA! That cracks my little primary heart up!! :)
A2: I base my summer learning on what I want to grow in. I am also surrounded by administrators with awesome libraries..so reading.
Great point https://t.co/URzqmcVdhj
A2 SEEMS good, but might it mean you don’t get help in an area that you could use support? Tough balance https://t.co/XIQAUHohoI
A2 I choose based on the needs of my campus & campus goals. I also choose PD that aligns to my interests/passions.
A2 I look at the goals we have in our school improvement plan
wanna join our now just started all about summer PD
A3 Also have seen PD conducted on charter bus to Atlantic City or on brief cruise - but is it serious?
Hi Katie! So glad you could join tonight!
A2 I also like to do FUN stuff! This summer I'm running a summer camp for Ts to learn creative writing!! https://t.co/Vi3rBmsYEO
Hi friends Spiri from PA jumping in 😊
Hey, I see I am totally messing up the Q and A numbers tonight. I guess I need more PD ;) sorry!
Join the chat 4 summer. Thursdays, around 9pm. Ask for clearer info. https://t.co/GFqYULfSXv
A2 I know lots of chats are taking summer breaks anyone know of some good ones to check in on over summer?
A3. you can go at your pace, focus on the topics you need. It also engages you because you are invested.
A3: No one can learn the material for you. You have to be dedicated and passionate and go find it
A2) My plan is to play and explore Minecraft more to include in my units/lessons, hoping to be near beach when doing this 😊
actually that's what I'm doing. There's not enough earth science pd nearby so I'll be putting some together.
A2 As a single mom, the most convenient thing for me is to research and read on my own https://t.co/Stoqp631QS
I choose the things that are hardest to do during the school year...I.e. READ, READ, READ!!
This is one of the reasons I like and so much! On my own time and very affordable. :)
RT Q3: How do you personalize your learning?
A2 Do any of you prefer listening to podcasts or webinars over reading in summer so you can multitask?
Bc if you don't then someone will dictate what PD you need and you won't end up growing and learning. https://t.co/e7K8vc4Fxy
A3 Taking control of my own learning has eased burnout quite a bit. I can focus on what I need instead of plodding along
You may want to check out the FREE webinars from Early Childhood Investigations, & Committee for Children.
A3: If I want 2 learn it, I will stick 2 it then I will implement it Sound selfish...Well I want 2B the driver of my learning Lol
A3 it builds your confidence and it helps you get better at our craft
A3 I agree learning has to be personalized, but I still see many tchrs and admins who keep repeating instead of branching out
absolutely we need to charge of our Pd so we dont get disappointed
Yes!! ❤️ reading by the pool! https://t.co/vB2fnO8ULC
Hi Justin! Hope you're doing great! this is what I was thinking when I read reply re: pool You can do both!
