Q1: What rocks the most about your school, district, classroom and/or community?

What rocks the most about my school is that we are a tight knit family. We really care about one another.

What rocks the most about my district is that we are not afraid to get out front and lead. We push each other to learn and grow.

A1: What rocks in our district is the focus is always on Ss.

What rocks about my community is the people. We navigate the challenges that all communities face together.

A2: it's time to stop talking about innovation all the time if we're not really willing to take risks.

A2: it's time to stop talking about personalization if we keep clinging to standardized curriculum and assessment practices.

Q2: hush hush on deficit thinking, the blame game (parents, teachers, students)

Q2: it's time to take a long hard look at standardized testing (what is its purpose)

A2: It's time to stop talking about 21st Century learning as if it's the next big thing. We are 16 years in. It's the now.

A3: It's time to let go of grading practices that create and/or reinforce inequities.

A1 - Our district went 1:1 five years ago. It has been a fun run. Enjoy being able to innovate and try something new.

A3 - Time to stop looking at "Time in a Bottle" and look forward to solving issues instead of keeping the status quo.

Q4: Express Yourself (NWA) How do you cultivate creativity and/or give students voice in their education?

As an Admin it is my responsibility to support the arts at both the classroom and co-curricula level.

A4 - I'm getting excited about using Restorative Justice in the schools to reach those tier 4 kids trapped by the process.

As an admin I must support instructional practices that encourage student choice and voice.

Q5: You're The Inspiration (Chicago) Who in education inspires you these days?

A4-Projects like we did really showed a lot of staff the capabilities that our students had in them.

A5 I'm inspired by my 6th & 8th grd general music students who aren't in band/choir but who make the most of our music class

A4 Ss in general music have opportunity to demo mastery thru performance of song of their choice as long as it meets criteria

A1 We meet as teams 2x/week to discuss student needs, progress, etc.

A6 We have listening examples at start of gen music class- a few SS recently have been choosing kids TV theme songs to listen to :)
