The first Twitter edchat in the Philippines, helping teachers grow their PLN, use tech in the classroom and promoting a culture of teachers helping teachers.
A5: Making kids accountable is more important. The reason we go to school is to grow.We often ask kids what they want to be, but not who they want to be. We need to make kids accountable for the characteristics, dreams, and values that they envision in their future self #edchatph
Thank you very much @Mrs_Gilchrist
I got to like Tweet chats more and more. I learned a lot in the last hour discussion. Hope you to talk with friends here next time. Have a wonderful weekend! #edchatPH#EDET543
BONUS A:
They are not mutually exclusive. It is important that we BOTH hold students accountable (and—more importantly—empower them to hold themselves accountable) and ensure they learn. When we empower Ss to own their learning, both things occur naturally. 💖

A3: Love this quote - We should look at the data and determine what is needed to help this S best succeed - not remain in the previous category; with an autopsy - there is no room for growth and that is NEVER the case with our Ss. #edchatPH
Q3:
“Too often, educational tests, grades, and report cards are treated by teachers as autopsies when they should be viewed as physicals.”
- Doug Reeves
Agree or Disagree? Why?

A4: Assessments of learning 4 learning, as learning have = importance. It helps guide instruction. Ts get a better understanding of whether a child has mastered content or if reteaching is needed. #EdChatPH
Bonus: Good question! Hmm... tough to answer. 🤔We want our Ss to learn & grow. We also need to empower Ss to take ownership in their learning. Student accountability is vital.
I think they’re both equally important. #EdchatPH
#edchatPH I am now 180 degrees from where I used to be in terms of grades. I am almost NOT believing in them now, but I used to think they were everything. Reform is needed.
Bonus: Making sure they learn!!! No brainer. As a 1st Grade teacher, S accountability is not on my radar. 6 year olds depend on parents and T’s for support. They are still developing as small people. Our duty is to help them learn...not hold them to account! #edchatPH
Bonus A: 100% LEARN - Our standards do not address lateness, tidiness, or if the evidence of learning was left in the locker or not properly posted to the blog. Let Ss learn and let them show us! #edchatPH
