Too cold!!!! I don't mind snow that much as long as the kids can go outside!! It's been too cold. I don't remember the last time the kids played outside all day. #1stchat
A1: I am an assistant teacher at a Montessori & some changes I've seen are they are becoming more independent and more comfortable with their parents dropping them off at school for a whole day #1stchat
A1: moving to kinder this year was much harder than I anticipated, but now I am loving it and looking forward to hopefully doing it again next year!! #1stchat

I would say my biggest success story is being able to balance 2 jobs and school. I currently work at Nordstrom and an after school program. Time management has always been something I struggled with, but I think I'm getting the hang of it!
A1 As I said I am in K this year but Im just loving the confidence that my students are showing. Risk taking, giving it a try, and just generally excited about learning. #1stchat
A1: my Ss are falling in love with reading. Independent reading time is their favorite. I love hearing them read their chosen books and talk about the book #1stchat

At the after school program I work at, one of the biggest difficulties I have is keeping the kids engaged. One student already does the same worksheets at school, and another students need extensive help. How do you guys manage these situations?

A2: A question as an elementary ed major would be how do you know what to include in your lesson plans to make for your students? for each subject? #1stchat
Ss are probably mentally exhausted from the day of school. Playing games with them is great because it’s working on problem solving skills and communication #1stchat
Q2 How do you teach appropriate reporting vs tattling? I’m trying to help mine become problem solvers thru modeling words they can use in situations but spring fever has our tattling on overdrive #1stchat
We do. I pretest all standards for the quarter and let Ps know where their kids are and what we are working on. I use my observations and check in weekly with each Ss to see where they are. Grades are not averaged though, just what they know at time of reporting. #1stchat

One prof I had uses a tattle tale type system where students have 3 slips of paper where they can use a "tattle tale" like a coupon so it makes them think if it is worth a tattle. #1stchat
We have a "kind" corner where kids can talk to each other with "I message" I also have a stuffed animal monkey who would listen to the kids' problems. I also teach them the BBB rule. If you are Bleeding, Broken or Barfing, come get me. :) #1stChat
Good friends help keep friends out of trouble. Help a friend if you see them doing something they shouldn't , tell an adult if what they are doing is unsafe to themselves or others. #1stchat The goal is to help out a friend not get a friend in trouble.
A3: My goals & hopes for my future classroom is for my students to gain core knowledge and skills that they can build upon as they move into older grades! #1stchat
I like to put pictures to our sight words & I have also broke them into lists and recorded myself reading them in seesaw, then the Ss can listen to them and look at the pictures as much as they need to. I also set up a system where they learn 10 at a time at their pace #1stchat
I have used flashcards that when they are lining up at the end of the day we go over them. I have also used pocket words. They will carry around a word they are struggling with. I will ask other teachers to ask them what their pocket word is. #1stchat#EDET543
A3 To keep building relationships w my students, to build their confidence, to increase growth mindset so they feel excited by challenges instead of nervous about them! So proud of my kiddos! Also to have a ton of fun with them before I send them on to 2nd grade #1stchat
A3 My goal is for my students. I want them to continue to strive to be the best they can be and to believe that anything is possible, even if it takes hard work. #1stchat My kidlets have such potential. I don't want anyone to stop them!
The students seem to love it and parents enjoy knowing how their children are doing. I have it on my phone, ipad, and computer. It goes with me where ever I go. I mention classdojo is up and everyone will do what needs to be done. #1stchat#EDET543
A3 I hope my students master more of their standards. I see many of them close to it. I love finding new ideas to help them reach their goal and see their confidence growing because they finally get it. #1stchat#EDET543
I started with Dolce preprimer words and divided into groups of 10, I read them in seesaw and put qr code on the back of the lists, then made picture cues as needed, sentences and found books and put each list in a drawer, now I'm on primer words for some kiddos #1stchat

Absolutely....that's my thing. I think that is why I am a bit bothered by it. It isn't a few...it is all of them. They love listening to books, and they do talk about it. #1stChat
Sometimes it's developmental. What about memory games so they notice how they look? Or picture poetry where the sight words read more obviously? #1stchat?
It's all up to you! I start with having them practice signing in (wish it was a bit easier) then have them explore with drawing tools and camera. #1stChat
A4: At my university, our Education club is hosting a literacy night where students from the area can come to our school and receive a free book! #1stchat
Did you know that #BookCampPD chats since 2/24/2018 are on our website if you would ever like to review it? https://t.co/H1wN8JmJ0g 19 books, many of them with the author joining as a guest, are included. Maybe it would be helpful for a book study group? #PrinLeaderChat#1stChat
A4: I teamed up with a 1st grade T and we grouped our kiddos for a research project for Black history month, I"m so excited to see how they do. So far they love getting with their groups and learning about famous people. Can't wait to see where it goes #1stchat
A4 I am starting "Show & Teach" sessions. Ss will chose to teach an expert presentation, craft or science experiment. I can't wait to see what the students will share! #1stChat
