A1. As an educator, supporting and learning to understand students with emotional issues is very important. If my students are not emotionally regulated, there will be little to no learning taking place. Meet them where they are at. #edu5213SBU#edchat
Nice. For classes that teach CS and development this can be a great platform to get kids working on industry standard tools.

Hey, one of my favorite pieces got published, and they had a much better name. it's about a very low-skilled, disconnected student that I helped by doing the opposite of what teachers are supposed to do. #teaching#edchat#mathchat
"I agree with a colleague who said once, “Look. If half your class is failing, blame the person you see in the mirror.” I simply can’t fail half my kids in classes they didn’t choose to take." @jmichelek on Teaching and the Art of the Possible https://t.co/TgEVCiPBGq
I've heard a lot about teacher burnout, especially around the mid to end of year. I think, for the first time in my career, I started to feel just that this year...#edchathttps://t.co/CRTp77aWjG
These days, it seems that all of us have emotional issues- at least I am recognizing it all more with more exposure and education. You're right, all that talk years ago about the hierarchy of needs is true! Meet the basic needs first.

So true, Heidi! The amount of needs that each student has is incredible. My colleague and friend @bettinaz28 always says "If ya can reach 'em you can teach em'" and I believe that to be very true in many ways. #edu5213SBU#edchat

Your best behaved kids and your worst behaved kids both have the same needs. It’s just that your best behaved kids had their needs met before they got to school.
Love this saying! I always tell myself that my smile in the morning might be the only one my students receive all day! My spiritual walk also says that I might be the only Jesus my students see all day:) #NTIchat#edu5213SBU#edchat

There's a myth that kids aren't willing to work hard, that they "don't care". Not true. They just don't care about the same things as adults. What did you care about when you were there age? @MarkClementsEdu#Edchat#Edunators
So why do some people struggle with sympathy and empathy and others do not? Could this bring us back full circle to emotional regulation? #NTIchat#edu5213SBU#edchat
