We will be using the traditional Q1/A1 format! Be on the lookout for questions that will be "fast and furious". (Sticking with the "drive" theme) :-) #prodriven
A1: Blended learning is a mix of "traditional" face to face instructional strategies with digital tools. It is where technology supports learning. #prodriven#boldschool@Wes_Kieschnick
A1: Blended learning, to me, is teacher facilitated and student lead. Students use multiple forms of media to meet standards and collaborate together. #ProDriven
A1 - I see blended learning as picking and choosing the best tools for student learning - tech, paper and pencil, collaboration, whatever it takes! #prodriven
A1: Blended learning leverages technology to give each and every student a more personalized learning experience both f2f and a from a distance #prodriven
Love the idea of student led learning. It is important for teachers to understand that students are learning in different ways. We must meet them where they are! #prodriven

A1 - I see blended learning as picking and choosing the best tools for student learning - tech, paper and pencil, collaboration, whatever it takes! #prodriven
A2: You need to ensure that you are choosing technology based on how it will help accomplish the learning outcomes of your lesson. It shouldn't be the reason for the lesson. Using tech for the sake of tech doesn't work. #Prodriven#StanLeeRIP
A2: When I blend tools with instruction, I always ask myself, “Is this going to help me move students into upper level of thinking, more frequently, over the longer course of time?” #ProDriven
A2. If you begin with the end in mind you will guide students toward using whatever tech works best for them. Please note ... the students are making the decision about which one to choose. #ProDriven
A2: Ideally, we should use technology to transform learning into ways that weren't possible without the technology. We can use it to engage, enhance and extend learning as well, as shown in the Triple E Framework #prodriven
A2: The increase in technology is a double edged sword in our education world. We can use it to our advantage, but we also now need to teach digital citizenship. It can also be overwhelming to staff that isn’t as technologically savvy. #prodriven
It can also be challenging for teachers not experienced with technology. It is important that as an admin I support those teachers who may need to know that taking a risk is okay #prodriven
In reply to
@mjjohnson1216, @jbormann3, @adaleylife
Agreed! We have been having large group and small group meetings as an admin team with our students to talk about digital citizenship. If we expect students to learn with tech we must model what that looks like. #prodriven
Yes. I will often is the TPaCK framework to help educators self-identify this area as a weakness (if it is), but then we can turn it into a strength. #ProDriven

A2: Teachers should also look at TPACK - Technology,Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge and see where they overlap to see where technology can and should be used. https://t.co/uLdwaozpcT#prodriven
A2 - it’s all about using the tools that make the most sense while also pushing ourselves to take risks while also trying to integrate new tools into our repertoire #prodriven
A3: Technology has the opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom walls. It also gives students a voice who may not have one in the classroom. When used powerfully blended learning can engage every student in some way. #Prodriven
A3: I see some of quieter students in a f2f environment blossom in a blended environment. It gives everyone a voice and allows for processing time for those that need it. #prodriven
A3: Technology increases student engagement because it is their lives! Plus, who LIKES to listen to someone talk for hours (or even minutes) in end. Kids are creative and smart if we let them be. #prodriven
Blended/Flipped learning allowed me to push the lower levels of thinking outside my classroom on an LMS. That meant I had MORE class time for the upper-levels of thinking! This excited me, but I’ve learned some Ts find this scary. #ProDriven
I wish every teacher could use a @goswivl and watch themselves teach. They could actually check the clock as they view it and see how long they are talking, what kind of questions they are asking. #ProDriven
A3: Technology increases student engagement because it is their lives! Plus, who LIKES to listen to someone talk for hours (or even minutes) in end. Kids are creative and smart if we let them be. #prodriven
A3 - By using the most appropriate tools, we can keep students more engaged. I recall how tedious it always felt making graph after graph to show a transformation. Now kids can quickly see the changes by playing with them on a graph in desmos. #ProDriven
A4: When you are planning technology based around "How can I use Technology today?" there is a problem. When you need to get down to basics, going "old school" is okay! #prodriven
I bought them for two different schools where I worked. It is interesting to observe the lead learners run with the idea and others lean back and remain quiet. #ProDriven
When I start to see a social aspect being loss. ALL LEARNING IS SOCIAL. Isolated on technology for long periods of time is not healthy. This was a HUGE takeaway from my Masters program. #ProDriven
A4: When the goal is to use technology for the sake of using technology. There needs to be purpose and ultimately having students create, collaborate, communicate globally, and think critically #prodriven#4Cs
A4 - Tech is too much when it doesn’t add anything or even takes time away from the objective of the lesson. Or when it creates a lesson that is less efficient than what you started with. #prodriven
A4 - Tech is too much when it doesn’t add anything or even takes time away from the objective of the lesson. Or when it creates a lesson that is less efficient than what you started with. #prodriven
YES! When it doesn’t actually add any value. I felt this way about the TouchBar on the MacBook Pro, which is why I opted out. Sorry, Carrie ;) #ProDriven
A4 - Tech is too much when it doesn’t add anything or even takes time away from the objective of the lesson. Or when it creates a lesson that is less efficient than what you started with. #prodriven
How long is it going to take us (Staff) to be technologically savvy. Please don't say that the students will always be ahead of us or that it will never happen .... #prodriven
A5: When students see value in what they are doing and they see a teacher who is passionate about what they are doing, the strategy doesn't matter. Build relationships with students. Create "experiences for kids and you will see engagement. #Prodriven#tlap
I talked w/ them quite a bit about Blooms levels and cognitive engagement. When they saw that we are trying to make our F2F time more valuable by keeping that time focused on the Upper Levels, they quickly bought it and thrived. #ProDriven
It probably depends on perception! I consider savvy being able to navigate and have some understanding of new tech. But I do think the kids will always be able to help :) #prodriven
A5: Focus on student centered learning and have them use tools that they enjoy - Snapchat, Twitter, and Flipgrid seem to be the most popular right now. #prodriven
A5: One thing that I have taught my preservice teachers is that you still need to build an online community in blended learning and distance ed environments. This is another way for students to buy in - build relationships online too #prodriven
But your question asked when it is too much of the classroom or school - not a specific lesson. Every classroom and school has technology everywhere - clocks, alarms, bells, ..... #ProDriven
A5: One thing that I have taught my preservice teachers is that you still need to build an online community in blended learning and distance ed environments. This is another way for students to buy in - build relationships online too #prodriven
A6: As a teacher you need to be a part of the activities. Constant involvement and conversation with students is critical. @hapara_team is a great tool for teachers in a blended learning environment. Best classroom management is great instruction! #Prodriven
A6 - You have to have eyes everywhere (not much different from a regular elem classroom!) and relationships with students always helps everything #prodriven
One of the best community meetings I facilitated involved using Jeopardy. It was an ice breaker and they began talking with each other rather than at each other. Ah, but I digress :-) #ProDriven
I always go back to relationships. It sounds idealistic, but it’s so true. Also, clear expectations the students help develop. Along with clear consequences when expectations aren’t met. And follow through. For their sakes FOLLOW THROUGH. This exists any tech level. #prodriven
A6: Teachers also need to take an active role in the online activities/discussions to help with engagement and management of a blended learning course #prodriven
A7: Techers value TIME to explore these tools. There is not much worse than a half day PD with 100 tech tools and no implementation coaching, time, or support. #prodriven
A7: Begin with sound PD on instructional strategies then build in the technology piece. When teachers have control of their learning it makes a big difference. We run a Tech Summit every year that teachers love. All choice with a mix of topics. #peqsummit#Prodriven
A7: Model a blended learning environment for PD and support them moving forward by showing them some tools that might help them put their interest into action #prodriven
Each year we do a tech summit where teachers go to two workshops in the morning then have a work session. Then two workshops in the afternoon and a work session. They enjoy the "play time." #prodriven
A7 - Modeling what we preach—use blended approaches to deliver the PD. Instead of using a slide presentation for PDs on tech, I’ve been trying my hand at hyperdocs while incorporating direct instruction in the technology, and shared doc collab for sharing ideas #prodriven
We must build the adult-learning culture that fosters Growth Mindset, Intrinsic Motivation, and Sustainable Autonomy. -> https://t.co/M2umJEr8UG#ProDriven
I went to Midwest Google Summit recently and it was a game changer for me. I was in a meditative PD state for two full days. I’ve already changed my instruction. THAT is PD! #prodriven
A8: Kahoot! Is one of my favorites as an assessment AND learning tool. Students love creating quizzes for each other to take, and I love the data they provide! #prodriven
A8: Apps that focus on Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. Love @Flipgrid@WeVideo@Seesaw@BookCreatorApp - as these can then all be shared with a larger community than just within the 4 walls of the classroom #prodriven
A8 - I’m not in the classroom so my favorite organizational app right now is @GoogleKeep. The ability for lists, collaborative notes, checklists is amazing—possibilities are endless!#prodriven
A9: I think it has to come from the desire and research of the teacher when they see their current ways aren't meeting their students' needs. #ProDriven
A9:Schools need to decide what their mission is.Begin with curriculum goals and tech infrastructure. Admin and teachers need to make a commitment to their growth and desire to make schools places where good instruction is in the drivers seat and tech is the passenger. #Prodriven
For me, it started with focusing on the levels of cognitive engagement with the tools (including books) I already had. Identify what’s lower and what’s upper. Then once comfortable with that, I could begin to find ways to go to next level with tools I didn’t have. #ProDriven
YES! I think too often teachers get intimidated by tech as if it will take the place of quality instruction. It will never take the place of quality, social instruction. #prodriven
I hyper focus on what’s lower-level and what’s upper-level with current resources can be done TODAY! Without that, adding anything new is a waste of resources (time, money, energy). #ProDriven
