Gotta skip tonight guys. Term #2 starts tomorrow morning and I have 4 new classes coming at me. Here in spirit. (With feed running on far right so I can at least follow with one eye while I work. #MinecraftEDU
Mark Grundel from Southern NJ, elementary teacher and director at Black Rocket. Curious about how we can use games like Minecraft to improve executive functioning. #MinecraftEDU
Mike from NY. Technology Integrator living la vida TOSA. Curious about what ways all you wild & creative educators will find to use #minecraftedu in 2018. Always love what's shared here.

My curiosity is constantly piqued and I love following my students' learning journey as it provides me with great opportunities to learn alongside them, often things I didn't know I wanted to learn :) #minecraftedu
A1: It has to be open, collaborative, and positive. Allowing negativity will discourage experimentation. That doesn’t mean they can’t fail, you just have to demonstrate that failing is improving. Also bring the unknown to you Ss to help expand their experience. #MinecraftEDU
I need to introduce it to my students and see what they come up with. How was @bett_show ? #sillyquestion#minecraftedu Is the Chemistry addition a 'map' or does it play like a mod? Now I'm curious!

I've only seen others posts. Looks fun! The moment I get more than 15-20 minutes in the office, I'm exploring. Been crazy busy on the go lately. I think our Ts new year's resolution was to integrate new tech. Mine is to #minecraftedu more :)
More like a Mod, you have combinors and creators, similar to brewing stands and crafting tables, to create molecules and combine for elements. #MinecraftEDU
Q2: Many argue that curiosity is an innate skill and does not need to be taught. However, like any skill it should be practiced and refined. How does a game like Minecraft encourage the practice and growth of curiosity?
#MinecraftEDU
A1: Allowing time for productive struggle and reflection. We feel like we have so much on our plates that sometimes we don't stop and just alllow ourselves to think, sometimes about our own thinking. #MinecraftEDU
A1 A question bucket or a wonder wall could help. Love @Wonderopolis wonders to spark them. Then allowing time for Ss to explore freely is key. Environment has to feel safe from judgment too. #minecraftedu
A2: Minecraft is an open exploration, sandbox world, with infinite possibilities. I try to avoid manuals and how-to's. When working with the game(tool) I encourage large amounts of time for exploration and inquiry into the possibilities of the game. #MinecraftEDU
All essential in fostering curiosity. We need to allow children to question and we need to foster the ability to ask questions and wonder. #MinecraftEDU
Q2: Many argue that curiosity is an innate skill and does not need to be taught. However, like any skill it should be practiced and refined. How does a game like Minecraft encourage the practice and growth of curiosity?
#MinecraftEDU
Yes, curiosity is a natural thing, but being able to ask the right questions is an important skill which can certainly be taught to improve curiosity. #MinecraftEDU
A2: I’m not sure that you teach curiosity, but you can certainly foster it by allowing opportunities for Ss to explore. Open-ended questioning and exploring like you find with #PBL through @LEGO_Education or the digital LEGOs that are in #MinecraftEDU give those opportunities
A2: Curiosity fostered through — updates, texture packs, mods, different maps, watching YouTube, creating games within #Minecraft, playing & modeling - creating individually & in teams #MinecraftEDU
Agreed. I believe we can teach the skills to promote curiosity and helping to promote the right learning environments to enhance curiosity. #MinecraftEDU
This is something that took me a very long time to learn. We want learning to be easy for our students and we want to help, but that is robbing students of valuable experiences. #MinecraftEDU
Yes! This is why I love #mysteryskype. Refined Q's help and also trigger more curiosity. Would be cool to somehow create a #mysteryskype like game inside of #MinecraftEdu. A bit out there but some how it popped into my mind :)
There’s magic in allowing students the freedom to struggle to solve problems with proper scaffolding. The “I did it” moments in Minecraft are priceless #MinecraftEDU
For Sure! Last week we took a gondola over the Thames River and I was inspired to build a working Gondola in #MinecraftEDU. It's happening, slower than anticipated, but happening.

A3: I’m looking forward to chemistry & though my coding & red stone automation have improved, I still have room to grow. To satiate it, I play, watch my kids/students create, or delve deep int Minecraft YouTube #MinecraftEDU
A3: I'm most curious about continuing to explore redstone, command blocks, and code builder. The possibilities for automation and engineering are very exciting to me #minecraftedu
A3: I am most interested in learning how to create a Boss in #MinecraftEDU using command blocks to create "test for" scenarios and a health bar. @nekolety is going to teach me! #MinecraftEDU

A3: I am most curious about the collaboration pieces where kids document within #MinecraftEdu and explain understanding #consolidation#assessment#feedback within the game I use blackboards and NVPs, screenshots but learning the portfolio feature #GEDSB21C
YouTube is probably the #1 go to for me as well. That is how I am doing my Gondola research. Sticky Pistons and Slime Blocks all the way. #MinecraftEDU
It is such a powerful tool and can be used at so many levels for so many learners. I guarntee students find awesome hidden easter eggs in that update! #MinecraftEDU
Yes, absolutely powerful pieces. The NPC feature is so great now with all the commands and web resources. Could use them to link to collaborative docs online and have Ss post in-game pics into the virtual doc or Sway. #MinecraftEDU
Q4: How have you taken, or envision taking, a student’s (or your own) curiosity out of the game and brought it in the game? OR How have you taken a curiosity from the real world and brought it in game? #MinecraftEDU
So part of my motivation behind this topic is that I believe curiosity is a precursor to creativity and we need to foster it in order to have these other 21st Century Skills. #MinecraftEDU
A3: Linkages with modeling, programming & logic — Inspiration from Twitter - teachers, YouTube, students who demo use of redstone, command blocks, pixel art, models #MinecraftEDU
I think that this Q got a little garbled. In other words, "How do you see a transference of curiosity from one medium to another, in game to out or vice versa. #MinecraftEDU
Q4: How have you taken, or envision taking, a student’s (or your own) curiosity out of the game and brought it in the game? OR How have you taken a curiosity from the real world and brought it in game? #MinecraftEDU
A4: Not totally sure I understand, but we’ve 3D printed in-game designs & also had students recreate personal photos/drawings in the game #MinecraftEDU
We're going to be starting our unit on the Revolutionary War. Looking forward to working with our 5th grade teachers to see how it develops and how creative our students can be. #minecraftedu@pjcerullo
So yes! Minecraft can absoultely be used to spark curiosity about 3D Printing and modeling, which can lead to new questions in this field and what else can be created? Can we 3D Print Working Redstone Contraptions? Maybe, lets try it. #MinecraftEDU
Encouraging curiosity is always a positive experience for students. Creativity can be encouraging Ss to follow their interests. #MinecraftEdu supports many different directions
Hi guys! Late to the party, but... we align everything from amateur rockhounding, to animal behaviour and ‘green living’ and more! It’s really all that we do, and the kids love it! #MinecraftEdu
Q4: How have you taken, or envision taking, a student’s (or your own) curiosity out of the game and brought it in the game? OR How have you taken a curiosity from the real world and brought it in game? #MinecraftEDU
Q5: What additional features would you like to see brought into the game of Minecraft to continue to ignite a future generation’s curiosity? #MinecraftEDU
A4: Ss added art they created to #Minecraft - Ss created models of coliseum using pictures & research, Ss created model of school using blueprint, Ss created models of -Starwars ships, zoos with animals, games - Five Nights at Freddy’s #MinecraftEDU
We discussed this @Bett_show but I would really like to see a digital art app that allows Ss to customize NPC/Villager and Player skins and then import into the game. #MinecraftEDU
A5: And the Chemistry addition made me think about what else could be added. I know @PBJellyGames would probably love a Food add on. Think of all the cool foods and items we could do! Units on healthy eating, etc.
