I think what sets apart great teachers is their unrelentingly focus on student improvement - that they will try everything and anything, taking the risks necessary for all of their kids to do well. #bfc530
Great teachers show transparency to students, parents, colleagues, and admin. Be willing to fail and willing to share that failure. And of course then always be willing to try again #BFC530

They have passion and curiosity. They reflect on the work their students do but more importantly on how their own work informs student work. They seek to improve. They take many risks. They collaborate. #bfc530

My Ss asked me if I would continue teaching if I won the $1billion lottery. I said "No" & they asked dont I love teaching, I said "Very much, but I love my family more & I would chose to spend time w/them. It doesnt make me a bad teacher, but a good human being" #bfc530

In our HS we brought donuts and coffee in for students identified by some teachers as hard to reach. We asked them why they "try" in some classes and not others. They were CLEAR! Relationships! Might be tough to hear what students have to say. #HackLearning

Great educators invite Ss to learn thru varied instructional strategies & formats, incl #handsonlearning, moving, & having choice, and not by doing worksheets, packets, workbooks, & the same tech tools every single day. That's not great learning--That's great schooling. #bfc530

Excellent point, Manny. My view, for what it’s worth, is that you can be a good teacher (also lawyer, doctor, engineer, fill in the blank) in isolation, but you will never be great without routine collaboration with your peers. #BFC530
Great teachers recognize that greatness is within them as they choose to grow as educators, leaders, and humans. The skills I used in 1st period may not work in 2nd. So I “modify on the fly” and that’s what makes us great - cognizance is the key to greatness!! #bfc530
