CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
Hello #CatholicEdChat - Today we celebrate 6 years of chat! Every Saturday at 9 a.m. - We first began on 11/3/2012 - Introduce yourself, what you do and how you first learned about chat
Happy T-day #catholicedchat -- JD, Geek from Indy...has it really been six years? pretty sure i stumpled across this with a toddler on my lap while drinking coffee...I'm sure i said something snarky, though.
Good morn. Maureen, K-8 Principal in Omaha. Started joining after seeing @BarbInNebraska at NCEA Catholic School Leadership Institute in 2015? #CatholicEdChat@NCEATALK
Good morning #CatholicEdChat! Happy 6 yr anniversary! I’m Amy from Chicago. ELA teacher and doctorate student at @LoyolaChicago. Not quite sure how I first learned of this chat, but I think it had something to do with @BarbInNebraska. 😊
Hi, Julie from Maryland, 6-7-8 Social Studies @sjrcsfred I saw Barb in Nebraska on the cover of Catholic Teacher magazine #CatholicEdChat (here is my cover girl and a friend)
Good morning, #CatholicEdChat! Happy Anniversary! 6 years is a testament to your dedication. Jan from sunny Chicago. Ed tech coordinator, secondary Ed.
I had been on Twitter for a couple of years and had connected with two other Catholic School educators @nsenger and @BarbInNebraska One day it was suggested a chat be started, we told a few friends and they told a few friends and that was the beginning #catholicedchat
Favorite #Catholicedchat chat experience: chatting in NYC hotel at the same time @WMOFNancy was chatting down the street at a nearby hotel. We both had tickets for Cinderella later that day. Great fun!

Since people are tweeting their highlights, thought i would throw one in....This was a pretty impressive couple of days.... #popeinphilly#catholicedchat

A1: It used to be my usual daily tea, but then a friend bought me a @Nespresso machine, so now Sat mornings are for cappuccinos that remind me of Rome. #CatholicEdChat
The liturgy themed ones are always particularly enjoyable I've also liked hearing what schools around the country do for #CatholicSchoolsWeek, #CatholicEdChat

#catholicedchat I liked the chats where we shared fundraising ideas and another where we shared school traditions and recaps from conferences. EVERY chat has such good information shared by wonderful teachers so willing 2SHARE. Happy Anniversary #catholicedchat Keep 'em coming!
A2: Our chats about books are some of my many favorites. Always good to see what others are reading. And our chats about #CSW are always energizing. #Catholicedchat
A2. My favorites are when I encourage an education colleague to join us, and then see them online on Sat. morns. It widens our PLN and I get to connect with more good people. #CatholicEdChat
A2. You know, I think I like the free chats maybe the best. They challenge me to come up with topic, and often lead to wisdom. And I feel surprisedthey are so comfortable #CatholicEdChat
A3 For some reason, the only thing I can think of right now is that someone gave me the idea to order those beautiful Catholic scientists posters from Word on Fire. #CatholicEdChat
A3 ways to grow in my personal faith life through suggestions of what others do. Showing tech tricks to my Ts. Providing fun activities to our House leaders. #catholicedchat
A3: too many to list! From the practical such as bulletin board ideas and prayers to use to the theoretical/philosophical ideas on high quality education, #Catholicedchat is a tremendous resource. Thankful for the archives to refer back to and search.

A3. I have learned to use Twitter positively. To not be afraid of the medium. To share good news. To be introduced to other great resources and education leaders @NCEATALK#CatholicEdChat
had a teacher-observer in class while kids were doing a major reflection. afterward he said, "did you ever answer a question? you just seemed to let them talk it out or get help from other students." - The best thing a teacher does is give the opportunity to think #catholicedchat
A4, I late, but here today. I can be a shy person, but when I see a twitter friend like @BarbInNebraska it makes me so happy. Like we are instant friends. #CatholicEdChat
A4 #CatholicEdChat Will never forget our @jesuitschools conference in Omaha circa 2015, where peeps wouldnt let me go alone to meet @BarbInNebraska f2f! She could b an ax murderer!?
A4. I have met so many....but since is spend most of my time gollum-like in tech-caves i appreciate a typing/virtual medium. Bright lights are a pain :) #catholicedchat
Sometimes, I don’t recognize people. Our profile pics can be deceiving.
Other times it’s like, “Oh, I know that person, how?” It’ seems awkward to say “hey, I know you from a chat” #CatholicEdChat.
Yes, we actually planned a presentation together online having never met in IRL and only met in person when we arrived in Houston to present! #CatholicEdChat
I’m back #catholicedchat! My assessment didn’t take as long as I thought. Fav memories are based on watching RW collaborations hapoen from this chat. Phone calls, conference meet-ups, heck @ncara & @jdferries even live tweeted the Pope!
A4: Have to give a shoutout to @RCABKMEARS too! She was my 4th grade teacher and it’s a blessing to be part of the same PLN. Loved when we were both part of @archindy#Catholicedchat
😂😂 I can relate b/c people (especially at writing conferences) tend to recognize me from Instagram (where I do a lot of video of me) and they yell out my name like they know me, and I’m like, “Shoot! Am I supposed to know this person?” I’m terrible w/ names. #catholicedchat
Welcome, John! Nice to meet another #Catholic TV person. In addition to teaching, I also host a Catholic book review program on @ShalomWorldTV. 😊

Ha, I admit, I am a teacher that is horrible at remembering names. It’s just a weakness. I like the seating charts with students images, maybe that’s where is comes from. I have created a crutch for myself. LOL! #catholicedchat
i spend the first week or so making up obnoxious and varying pneumonics until their names sticks. i am pretty sure "not-john-lawrence-cause-he-doesn't-rap" is still annoyed with his. :) #catholicedchat
A5 thus it was on the start of the 7th year of #catholicedchat that a new schism formed....one that was both unexpected and relatively inconsequential...but funny.
I make myself flash cards by getting an extra copy of the previous year’s yearbook. Name on one side, picture on the other, I study all summer so I can know names from day one. Did this as principal too, took me until Sept. to get all 241 names down. #catholicedchat
