The official educational chat of BrainPOP. Like most Twitter chats, BPOPchat is structured around six to seven open-ended guiding questions, so there’s easy entry points for sharing and getting ideas.
A1: Our students love that BrainPOP is available in Spanish so they can watch the same videos as their classmates. They think Moby is rather funny as well. #BPOPchat#ELL
A1: My students (and teachers when they learned this was available) love the Closed Caption feature. This appeals to both auditory and visual learners! #BPOPchat
With so many amazing features, what's yours? #Q1#BPOPchat#A1 Movies are by far my favorite! I love how BP combines narrative storytelling and dialogue-driven scripts to make difficult content comprehensible for everyone!
There are a number of cross-content videos available on @BrainPOPELL as well. I know that a lot of science teachers at my school show the Scientific Method ELL movie before showing the @brainpop or @AnnieAndMoby movie. Great appetizer. #bpopchat#ell#A1

#A2: I love that the Assignment Builder allows Ts to differentiate for our Ss. Challenge and Quiz are great activities for reinforcing skills. #BPOPchat
A2: After watching the movie, students have the choice of make a map, make a movie, or Creative Coding. Make a movie allows the students to record in the own language. Make a Map has built in keywords to help the students with vocabulary. Coding is a universal language! #BPOPchat
@brainpop has so many different actiities and options for students to choose from, I love having "multiple-pathways" for students to acheive mastery by allowing students to choose the activities/features they use to show their learning. #A2#bpopchat#ell
Definitely! My students are just now learning how to sign on independently. Pushing assignments to them will be starting soon. I can't wait to see their progress! #BPOPchat#ELL
A3: Make-a-Movie is a great way to help develop conversation skills. I have had my students create a movie as partners. It allows them to practice and listen to their discussion while teaching others! #BPOPchat
A3: I originally fell in love with BPOP over 10 years ago. I taught ELL for 22 years b4 becoming a TI & I used a lot of BP movies. The focus on vocab is key. Now I can spread my knowledge of differentiation for ELL students through using BrainPOP to everyone. #BPOPchat#ELL
My students love recording the conversations that they have about Annie's Notebook. Students recording their conversations and transcribe what they said. #Q3#bpopchat#ell
#A3 My kiddos loveeee the Pop a Joke feature. They also love creating their own and sharing them with their friends. It's pretty cool to see what they come up with. #BPOPchat#ELL
I love printing out transcripts and having students fill in the blanks guessing what Moby says at each beep. I often include word banks to help students get started! #A3#BPOPCHAT#ELL
A4: Using the vocabulary printable PDF's is helpful for vocab development. I give them the PDF to take notes on as they watch the movie. We pause the movie and go over vocab together. #BPOPchat
A4: We have started using Creative Coding in conversation mode & when Moby beeps the other person in the conversation explains what Moby "said" just like Tim. #BPOPchat ELL
#BPOPchat#A4 I love an add on that I use with #brainpop and everything else. It's call Snap and read. It can simplified the words, read the text and translated to other languages.
I just started introducing my kiddos to the Coding feature and they are slowly, but surely getting the hang of it. This is a perfect way to to promote vocabulary and language skills! #BPOPchat#ell
A4: Hopping on the Make-a-Map band wagon, but I absolutely love this feature as a way to brainstorm ideas and connect those ideas into knowledge. The embedded movie truly helps reinforce the concepts. #BPOPchat
Having the movie embedded is a great benefit. I often have my lower language ability students make a map at home the night before we watch the movie in class. #BPOPchat
#A4 I print out the transcript and use that as a guiding tool to teach vocabulary too. It is something that they can take notes on and keep through the lesson or unit! #BPOPchat#ELL
I love having students that the @BrainPOPELL Placement test at the beginning of a semester and at the end to see the growth they have made throughout our time together. You can find the placement test here: https://t.co/HzOV7I1N26#BPOPchat#ell
A5: If you take a look at your dashboard over time, you can see what you assigned; at first, the student may need Spanish, then they may move into English with supports, and eventually all English. #BPOPchat
A5: Ss often need practice speaking & recording it, so using Make A Movie frequently will give you the opportunity to see their language proficiency develop over time. #BPOPchat#ELL
A5: Teachers can save and download their students' movies (made with Make-a-Movie) as a digital portfolio of their learning and progress throughout the year! #BPOPchat
#BPOPchat#A4 Even if you don't have #Brainpopell you can use the other Brainpops and differentiate and measure the students progress with all the activities. With make a map for example you are evaluating several language skills.
Its a great free resource. There are also a number of free level and content videos that you are able to try out without a subscription. https://t.co/vnlDvcn4GO#bpopchat
#a5 In addition, it's important that students are also tracking their own data. Students do better when they track their own data and having that accessible and visible is valuable. #BPOPchat#ELL

#A6@brainpop is a support tool for both content and language integrated learning (CLIL) and English as a foreign language (EFL) national curriculum. BrainPOP helps my ELLs acquire the language they need to succeed in these academically rigorous settings. #bpopchat#ell
#BPOPchat#A6 Absolutely. It's important that kids bridge both languages. I use @brainpop movies and @BrainPOPesp movies but not necessary the same movie but movies that are in the same topic.

A6: We're an immersion school so not really. However we sometimes find really good videos in Spanish for our History class (History of Mexico) and we'll definitely integrate them in our lessons. #BPOPchat#ELL
