Q1: What are the benefits of participating in a book study with other librarians?
A1: Collaboration, networking, insight, and obtaining knowledge.
A1 Connection opportunities; Book study via slow chat allows choice - you can participate or lurk. Either way, you're learning.
A1 I have only led and participated in district book studies, but the fellowship was tremendous!

Just like for our kids: a safe environment to express ideas, thoughts, & personal connections :) Flexibility is key!

Competition does lead to a collaborative envrmnet. If we already have jobs why can't we stop outdoing each other & just get along?
I've done that w/ kids - they all had a similar theme & it was actually REALLY cool!

my district does a lib. PD book study every year for the past few years. we haven't done a virtual one--only IRL, but it is great!

A4 Campus book studies are a great way to show Ts and Admins that we are instructional leaders.
With my district I've participated in Finding Your Element and right now When Gifted Kids Dont Have All the Anwers
A4: Pay close attention to all comments and see how you can offer Library Services to meet recognized needs
A4 Share our unique perspective, offer to support staff with meeting the objectives in the book, volunteer to lead the discussion
A4 I think by the taking the lead and collaborating. Librarians need to step up into that leadership role!
