    #engsschat A1: Because I am student teaching AP courses, a lot of the writing that is assigned is to prepare the students for the AP test and to get them to think critically about the questions that are going to be asked

    Q1 It depends on the audience. Writing could be to engage in a civil conversation online, or communicate conclusions using textual evidence, or writing could be to advocate to take informed civic action- to name a few examples. #engsschat

    Document based question essay. Students are given documents and a question and students write an essay based on prior knowledge and the evidence provided. It’s one of the essays students are required to do for the AP exam but they are useful for all classes #engsschat

    Yes! I like having Ss journal after major summative assignments. This allows them to reflect on their process, what they learned, and how they used time/resources to complete a task. Journaling helps Ss process. #engsschat
