Tonight’s topic will be about reflections. With that being said, introduce yourself and share a GIF that best represents a reflection of your day. #espechat
A1) It started early when @karagrozisPE and I put together and displayed GLO signs in the gym daily. This became a focal point of my teaching. Every activity had a purpose. Every activity was selected to meet a GLO rather than selecting the GLO that fits an activity. #espechat
A1: Started Using a projector, using gif's to teach, Parent to PE Week And Night, Parent engagement, changed mindsets of what PE is, My first every field day, jump rope ladder, 2nd grade gymnastics showcase at Local HS, and many more #espechat
I have been trying guided discovery to have Ss find best ways to perform skills. The inquiry part of it has so far led them in the correct directions. #espechat
Hey hey hey #espechat 👋🏼🔥!! Stephanie Sandino here tuning in from Southern California. I’m a ms #physed teacher for grades 7/8. Grades, IEPs, locker clean out...it’s all so fast!
A2) I want to start each lesson going over some quick classroom rules the way @thepespecialist shows in his videos. I think it will help set the tone for learning. Hope it helps keep a positive environment. #espechat
A1 Giving self-assessment a try with #plickers , taking on cricket for the first time and linking it to some social emotional learning as well! Always try 1 or two new things each year #espechat
I have truly felt like a 1st year T all over again in a few different ways, but one thing that's been awesome is how much better I feel teaching older grades now than when I did 5 years ago #espechat
A2 I like Kevin Tillers idea of a theme all year. Thinking about superhero for next year. Also thinking more progressions of the skills and I played with plicker/plagnets too #espechat
A2: Wow. So Much I want to do. I want to learn more for next year: how to implement TGFU, Using Sport Ed model in lower elementary, How to use Solo Taxonomy to get students to own their learning, explore ed camp model. #espechat
It’s kind of cool each staff member gets assigned to 3-4 of our ss when it comes to IEPs. It’s definitely a learning experience when you sit in them #espechat
A2)Just got a new gym- big enough to hold my classes & my co-teachers's classes.(Prev one was always outside or in the caf).We will have a curtain divider. This will be game changer but will have to figure out logistics w/ entering/exiting, noise levels, etc #espechat
A2: I work with paras who run classes the days that I don't have them. I want to have detailed procedures written down so that that paras and subs can still hold them accountable. #espechat
A2b: Want to look into using Class Dojo for classroom management and motivation, SeeSaw for portfolios, plagnets, Gamification, Video newsletter like @MrWillPE, and the biggest change I want to to do is move to a spiraling curriculum #espechat
A2 I feel as though I’m in desperate need to revamp my make-up assignments for parent notes, medical notes and absences, I do a lot of chasing around when it comes to these. I’d also like to do more job assignments! #espechat
A2) Also want to do a better job using @thepespecialist Conflict Corner. It worked really well...just have to do a more consistent job modeling and reminding students. #espechat
Did a breakout edu for my math class. I really want to try that out for next year for #physed. Also want to explore doing a #physedchoped around gardening Unit #espechat
I think the fact that they don’t necessarily need to throw accurately to a base person would make that aspect easier. Or at least that’s the way I tried it (outfield retrieves and sticks a foot in hula hoop to stop runner from running). Also the base running is easier #espechat
As in coaches, equipment manager, strength and conditioning specialists for warm-up...kind of like a routines with a sport ed take on it. I did some of these consistently, others not so much, others that I’d like to add if that makes sense #espechat
Would you mind sharing a copy of your yearly plan. Curious how others block it. I can't remember if it was @physedreview or @PhysEdDepot that had a spiraling curriculum example. Would like as many as examples as I can find #espechat

A2 My focus is on making sure my Ss leave the gym in a calm manner. I chose this as a focus because it was pointed out to me that they like the way my Ss leave but I feel it could be better #espechat
A3) @NorthPolkWestPE shared with me how he uses PowerPoint to create lesson plans. I’ve set up a few lessons this way, and really liked how it turned out. I would like to at least get to half of my lessons or more being set up on PowerPoint, then projected to students. #espechat
A3) I want to have instant activities on signs that they read as they enter the gym instead of me giving them instructions for a warm-up each day. #espechat
A3: I don't really have a yearly plan. That is my focus for next year. I want to make sure I can get through everything I want and revisit in a timely manner. I am not good at it yet. #espechat

have the ss close their eyes in line. have the ss count 60 seconds in their head. sit and open eyes when they think they counted to it. closest wins. working on mindfulness and settle down. they go back calm #espechat
Give me 10 minutes to teach you trailers. Then you can work yourself around the regular iMovie. I have some resource videos that could also help! #espechat
A3:I am going to way up my planning for next year as i am offering an #adaptedpe leadership/mentoring class called #unifiedpe i have 20 hours of curriculum writing this summer to write and plan. I am STOKED for this class. #espechat
another one i learned was have the ss line up. have them either put their hands on head or hands behind them for tails. flip a coin. if it lands they win and remain standing. if they lose they sit. keep going til u get a winner. #espechat
If you figure that out, let me know. I have numbers on the floor and I can't get my students to stand on them for the 30 seconds they wait for their teacher to arrive. #espechat
spiral curriculum is cool but hard. limited time. i have started doing that for my power standards. this year it was partner games, small group games and large group games. we revisit every month the why we move. socialization happiness joy etc. #espechat@physedreview rocks his

A4) I would like to come up with a way to interpret the data. I collect pedometer, heart rate and Plickers data; however, I need to do more with it than I currently do. #espechat
A3 Hmm I would like to start cross referencing CA standards and Ntl standards a bit more for our program. I think our program is a little loose when it comes to standards since we are mixed 7th/8th. Now that we will be separating grade levels there will be more clarity #espechat
A4) I will definitely be adding in more standards based assessments since we are moving that way with our report cards and unique plagnets assessments. #espechat
To go with this, here’s a post I put up recently with some digital whiteboard daily plan templates using Google Slides (from @physedreview and @JPrincePhysed): https://t.co/MtauJnndoa Great way to “set” a class lesson each day. #espechat

the most important ones to me. i don't have time to teach all of them thoroughly. for me kicking, hitting, throwing, catching, socialization, joy are the main ones #espechat

A4: Assessments or feedback, two different things in my book. First of all I want to do more peer feedback and more feedback using video delay. #espechat
A4) Our School is purchasing #flipgrid for teachers next year. I used it once as a Dance Reflection and Ss loved it! I want to assess Standard 5 more with it next year. #espechat
Zach from MD late to the party! A4: plagnets more and using one point rubrics to assess. I love to use parking lots or sticky notes for quick checks.#espechat
A4. Possible move away from assessing individual standards and focus on developing project based learning artifacts. I am done with checklists for eight cues #espechat
A1: Also think this was one of my proudest moments. Not settle for canceling PE when no gym or outside classroom was available. We can be active and lean anywhere. Changing my mindset and being able to be flexible on the fly. #espechathttps://t.co/VZV381tPm0
No gym, no problem! Kicked out for music concert and lunch room was reserved for recess because of rain. Came up with some follow the leader videos we could do in small spaces from @BSDbrainboost and some @plickers assessments from @PhysEdDepot and @physedreview. #physed#pegeeks
A5 I have put up big pieces of butcher block paper and had students write what they learned in PE this year. It is so sweet to see what they write. #espechat
A5) I think a simple handout with a few questions about the lessons/activities/skills they enjoyed the most. Maybe a place to write or draw pictures and reflect on their personal #PhysEd experiences. #espechat
A5: I pushed out a survey for my older Ss that was purely for me. It focused on what their favorite and least favorite things were. I want to do one that is self-reflective for them. #espechat
That drives me nuts. I never know how many students are late, or when they will magicly show up. I'm glad you are thinking about a plan for this. Maybe I should too. #espechat
The best thing , IMO, about teaching a spiraling curriculum is that it really supports growth mindset. Rather than feeling pressure to master a glo, you know that you will be coming back around to it. Progressing in the learning is what matters. #espechat

A3) This being my first year i added assessments into my unit after i planned them out. Next year I want to plan my assessments with my units. (Hope that makes sense) #espechat
I will probably do another teacher report card for the end of the year too... expand to more grades and ask Ss for more feedback on some questions #espechat
A6: Attending and planning on attending conferences has been huge for me to prevent burnout. It has stoked the fire in a way I didn't expect! #espechat
A6) Twitter helps with this and having a good supportive family to put up with all of my crazy ideas. Also understanding that most teachers as well as students are burned out this time of year. #espechat
A6: To me I am looking forward to connecting and learning this summer. I want to have a vast #PLN to keep learning and growing with. So Excited to be going to #PEInstitute18. Also want to have a good plan for the year. #espechat
Also, if you’d like longer reflection (up to 5 min. for free as compared to 90 sec) or maybe even short “performances” recorded, Recap is excellent. https://t.co/oRV2Ru4okn#ESPEChat
A6) Enjoy summer and family. Work on stuff when you feel the time is right. Stop worrying about deadlines and turn off notifications for twitter an Voxer. #ESPEChat
A6) Trying new ideas/instant activities with the students. Getting outside! Next year will be exciting. Opening up a brand new school and will be one of two phys ed teachers. We have already coordinated some ideas.....going to be sweet! #espechat
A6: last year i was on survival mode. This year i found MY WHY i teach, my kids slept through the night and I figured out i do actually need self care. This year was so different. I was so motivated and LOVED my days. The year blew by rather than dragging on #espechat
Yes! That was the big conference that made me take on many more projects with many people I never thought I would get the chance to work with. #espechat
A5) I had my 5th graders take a google survey I created. It included content questions that I had asked over the year and then also some of their opinions on what I had done if they liked or not. Quick, easy, and truthful feedback! #espechat
A6 taking more time to focus on what I'm teaching has helped me lately. Keeping a more structured lesson helps the kids and me. I am excited to plan some this summer to reduce the amount during the year #espechat
I love that people use Voxer. However, after a week on Voxer, I was burning. I thought I had to listen to every message. I need to try it again with a different mindset. #espechat
LOL. Seriously. I tell my wife that I have meeting to be at right now. It helps me value my time better and make sure that I am not over doing Twitter. #espechat
A5: if you have devices, Google Forms is great for collecting this info. If you use a Lickert scale you can get some great graphs that give you excellent feedback. #espechat
A6) I work at a Brewery on the weekends and believe it or not, it has helped tremendously with avoiding burnout. Just a complete opposite atmosphere than school. I plan for that to be my summer escape. #espechat
A7) I would want to pay someone to bring a lift into the gym and paint or cover my skylights. I have grand plans to use my projector more next year, but the skylights are making it hard to see the projections. #espechat
A7) I always would like to add technology. My iPad is too many years too old... Beyond that, would love to add a net game to my #physed offerings. #espechat
A7) Technology and update equipment. There is always a new awesome game to add such @SpikeballEDU. Also I like to make sure my classroom teachers can borrow equipment to enhance the learning #espechat
A7. I would like to develop a equipment program for students to use the playground after school. A simple box with balls and equipment. Just a few extra funds to keep the balls going for the whole year. #ESPEChat
A7) Would love to add heart rate monitors. I've worked with them during student teaching and the motivation factor was unbelievable. However, tough for my program now with classes of 60 k-5 Ss coming in for 25 minutes (and no $). #espechat
A7) A projector that lowered from the ceiling. Wheeling mine out every morning has been a pain. Although i would love for a new Ipad. Or for my school to allow Apple TV in the gym. #espechat
Thank you for reflecting with #espechat tonight! Don’t be strangers! Keep the #physed conversations going over the summer. #espechat will be back in the fall!
A7: Would want to add make the projector a permeant display. Want a classroom set of iPads or chromebooks to have students reflect on their learning, breakout edu, video analysis, & sportfilio. Also want to have an outdoor PA system. #espechat
