Hi ! Jacqueline, NJ social studies teacher, I enjoy the creative solutions my Ss come up with.
Hi ! Jacqueline, NJ social studies teacher, I enjoy the creative solutions my Ss come up with.
Hi & 88 degrees in LA today. Summer is back.
Andy from NC, world history teacher outside of Charlotte. Loved teaching AP, the drive & challenge to teach them, push to nxt level
I love teaching gifted kids because it feels like I can open the box a little bit more. More freedom, more choice.
Hi Jackie from CT - HS SS and library media and peer practice coach

Greetings . My name is Angela &I work as an Instructional Technology Specialist in upstate NY. I am a former ss teacher
is there, or what would be, a difference between AP & G&T? Do they still call them G&T in HS?
Ken from Western Oregon Univ. teacher education program teach social studies pedagogy & coordinate MAT program
now there is dedication, still joining the chat on vacation.
Hi . Emily from NY. HS US history, gov and econ. Love seeing what Ss come up with when given freedom to explore the material.
wow, happy birthday! What a way to celebrate :)
Absolutely. I like that they're willing to challenge some of my own conclusions. I'M ALWAYS RIGHT KIDS
A2 I think it's challenging to find ways to challenge the G&T population. How are they identified? Elem level?
In the district where my kids go, they don't. Have accelerated learning program elem & MS.
Joanne from Missouri 7th world history and 11th modern global issues
Hello ! Amy from Frederick, MD! 7th Grade Medieval History!
Hi Sarah from MA joining in. I teach 6th/7th geography & 8th civics. Can't wait to learn more on how to challenge my students!
How Coaching Impacted my Teaching Philosophy -OR- Why I don't Lecture https://t.co/IBZ2BLuaWl Feel free 2 check it out
A1: their excitement & genuine interest into what we are learning is exciting. They care enough abt wht they are learning 2 ask qts
The G&T students are pulled to do extra projects through the gifted program. A lot of the time those are SS based.
Welcome Sarah! Middle school is the best. Guessing you have a lot of fun with the kids.
Wow I grew up in NH but couldn't handle that after all my time in So Cal.
that's awesome - any specifics or articles on this? I'm intrigued!
A1: I agree with - that curiosity is KEY.
11th grade is online. Learning a lot.
Looking forward to new ideas to include the G&T in my classroom more.
Intro: Teaching my AP and honors Ss has been keeping me on my toes, we're both having way too much fun in the classroom
A1 Sometimes I worry GL in my Dist are just Ss at grade level. Some Ts don't know what to do w/Ss that work.
#1671 Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress... — Kofi Annan
https://t.co/z9XYwmjFsm
<---- this guy is my no. 1... AND my no. 1 resource for learnding history
I've taught very capable, motivated, and ultimately successful Ss, but don't think any would be considered "gifted" --anyone else?
Chuck from Milrockee - usually at bball for but have a reprieve
That's def a concern. How are gifted Ss identified?
Hi all! Emily from TN dropping in & out of as I eat dinner with my honey. Looking forward to reading your tweets!
I wonder how they identify these students. I remember kids getting pulled out, I was never one of them :(
Normally I have a conflict on Mondays, so this is a rare opportunity to hang with my faves!
there must be articles on this out in internet-land
I would like to see a G&T program at high school level that is modeled after AP Capstone & application/inquiry based learning.
Think it varies from district to district or state to state.
LOVE the idea of AP Capstone! Tried to bring to my school... not in our near future... yet! Great idea though!
A2: our Ss are a special population based on their need for an accelerated curr & 2 go deeper into the content. they seek more depth
We just added this year. I believe we have 6 students enrolled.
I think there is a test that starts in the 2nd grade. Not sure how easy it is to get a S on the list.
Usually there are tests used to determine IQ based on age. Naglieri is typically the most common.
A1 special pop bc some Ss able to understand, analyze more abstractly, can take content & understand how it fits in others times too
I seem to have missed the question. Can someone help me out?
I am with you on this too.
A1 curiousity, often a wider vocabulary, analytical skills
https://t.co/7dklnNIXDt
We'll explore those questions a little bit tonight. Usually, gifted are identified in Elem, but underreped pops are growing.
https://t.co/C0cxGSnlu4
I agree, Phil! Curiosity, drive, and extreme interests in specific areas. Once they share a niche, its easier to lead them fwd.
https://t.co/V2UmLd3BXG
Every state is different depending on the state legislation and support granted for Gifted Ed.
https://t.co/bFCxinLLOY
Usually there are tests used to determine IQ based on age. Naglieri is typically the most common.
If you want to come next year to our district, I am sure our district would love to host you for the day.
What is AP capstone? My school has capstone as grad requirement, but basic--would love an advanced option
its typically not a pass/fail. In Florida, if a student scores 2 stand. deviations above mean (130+).
I've had some, but most similar, many motivated & dedicated but what's gifted really anyway
ALL the students we teach are gifted and talented.
A1: Curiosity is probably a common trait for Ss in SocialStudies. You can always add depth.
A1 often the "gifted" label just means they scored high on a test. Personally I'd either like the label changed or expanded.
A1: In my MS and HS there are tests and Ts recommendations as far as I can tell. These Ss show both initiative and a certain drive.
A1. Could someone explain to me explicitly what they define as a special student? Think terminology difference in Ireland! :)
I need to follow my own advice and to my responses. I'm warming up now. LOL.
A1: In KS gifted Ss are in the SpEd dept. They have a teacher hired for that program and kids are identified and tested
A2 stress if probably biggest emotional challenge, lots of pressure on them to be best, not just succeed. Ps add to stress too
and I'm a social studies teacher form PA, will be in and out tonight. Very excited to learn with all of you!
Hey ! Teacher educator. Social studies Ed. Who is moderating?
agreed https://t.co/ocJkeEC6CH
A1 often the "gifted" label just means they scored high on a test. Personally I'd either like the label changed or expanded.
A1 I've definitely had students gifted athletically, musically, leadershipally that didn't score high on tests. "NOT gifted."
A1 CA law places GATE programming under "local control" each district can set its own guidelines and policies
A2: These Ss have a lot of pressures on them both externally and internally. I support them with many different types of expression.
SUPER POWERS. Definitely super powers.
But they scored 48/50, so...no. https://t.co/nJhK6Zf7wu
what are they gifted with? Money? Powers? SUPER POWERS?!?
A1 G & T need to be challenged. In middle school we not longer pull out. Ss encouraged to take "advanced". Requires differentiation.
I understand where you are saying, but there is a specific def for Gifted Ed v. seeing the gifts and talented in all.
A1 some have the ability to interact with adults more comfortably than with their own peers
A1: Ss have to show a certain level of math and/or reading skills, critical thinking skills, IQ tests. Means numbers identified vary
A2 often lack of feeling challenged. Ts can help through authentic learning & inquiry based learning experiences
Scholars like Renzulli are beginning to expand the label. We are in the midst of seeing a revolution in gifted labeling.
A3 SSTs can nurture & support gifted learners by exposing them to higher-level readings (?) and primary sources
agree w/ - Ss are 'gifted' in one way or another - not just their ability to ace a test - gotta find out strengths
https://t.co/669KVpUuTW as you'll see, it's kind of vague in some ways and nuanced in others. I was ID'd through a test.
A2. Gifted Learners Need to Be Unique and to Work Independently in Their Areas of Passion and Talent
this was toughest for me when I taught MS, have to push AIG/G&T and have EC/ESL in same class w/different needs
All kids have gifts. It's up to us to help our students discover them!
My children have very bright friends are deemed GT, have special classes, I've just never taught one
A2: most Ss feel pressure/stress an accelerated program must amplify that. Ts can give sources, materials, develop quuestions
A2 we as teachers need to work on challenging them and giving them authentic learning experiences not just extra busy work
A2: wonder how much they struggle w/ processing what they learn; does it lead 2 worry.Tht was1 thng I learned in a gftd class i took
A2 sometimes "gifted" = they deserve more hours of homework, more practice, more pressure...overwhelms some https://t.co/EtvfidFD3a
A2: These Ss have a lot of pressures on them both externally and internally. I support them with many different types of expression.
plus, according to my calculations, 80% of parents on my 25 yrs of teaching has said their Ss is gifted - so it must be true
are G&T Ss eventually filtered into AP courses, or does puberty/development tend to impact their abilities later on?
responding to gifted (or any category) isn't more - just different
Not all in "adv."are gifted. Very tough.
A2 managing their often advanced intellect with their emotions.. intellectual is farther ahead than their emotional maturity.
rigor yes, might not 100% mean more work though
A2 Teachers need to Provide Opportunities for Gifted Learners to Socialize and to Learn With Like-Ability Peers
Thanks Emily! That's very interesting, I must check- see if there is an equivalent system in place here in Ireland!
A2: Many gifted students are taking multiple AP& dual enrollment classes w local community colleges, not to mention extracurriculars
A2: one struggle of gifted learners recently presented 2 me was, they are aware of what they don't know. how does that affect them?
It is important to make G&T programs about inquiry, not just more work. They are still kids & need time for fun.
Late but here for ! Jordan, 8th Grade ELA/SS in NC.
A2: I feel like the label sometimes limits the dev. of an identity beyond it. In the eyes of others or in one's own eyes.
absolutely. Toughest for the "middle" Ss. Often overlooked as differentiate for slower learners & advanced Ss
yes!! I have seen this so often
I've always been concerned with gifted = more work. Need differentiated work
You are more than correct.
a lot of the GT failure I see is lack of T training. Not sure what do do with them, so they just add work
District my kids' attend has G&T program like this - inquiry based, ELA T uses Caesar's English prog.
Thanks Chuck! It's a big deal for us to be able to help all kids find their gifts!
Gifted are not identified for us. Learn as we go unless parents tell us.
A2:Seems their differences are more apparent. Their social characterists are exaggerated to Ts and peers
absolutely. And more options at the deeper end of the pool. More creation, synthesis, real world experiences.
Not in disagreement, this is my first year working with AP and Honors Ss.
Could not agree more! In younger grades too often G&T means extra math packets https://t.co/9fnxomNFKP
It is important to make G&T programs about inquiry, not just more work. They are still kids & need time for fun.
The 1st year is all collaborative. It is a great opportunity for Ss to learn how to REALLY work as a unit.
I see your point. In the field of Gifted, the def is currently focused on more academics; change coming...
A3 Have started giving Ss more choice in demonstrating how they show mastery. Many frustrated by the ambiguity.
Ours were identified, tried to place most in same class, but usually were mixed all in. Had Ss at every level
Q3:What academic challenges do you believe gifted face in mixed ability settings? How can we address this? https://t.co/Xy8NRKTxch
social and I would argue their drive toward success as well
Our gifted T will bring in other adv. kids to work with Gifted in order to vary groups and allow others to take part
It's difficult for a teacher to differentiate for mixed abilities. Many times, gifted are not addressed.
ID'd in elementary but not labeled beyond.
A3 think too often attitude can be "you're gifted, help your classmate learn this" Can be tough esp on introverts or younger Ss
A3. Too often, Ts give gifted Ss the responsibility of teaching other kids, at the expense of their own deeper learning experiences
squeaky wheel gets the grease! G&T don't strike me as squeaky!
A3) Frustration if work/materials too easy, pace too slow. Negative peer relationships a possible effect.
A3: collaboration between Ts and Ss along all lines of curr. is important. SS in particular b/c we deal with many forms of curr.
I see that a lot. Ss who jump through hoops super well (including testing) not always sure how to think outside box.
definitely tough, someone always gets skipped/looked over. And w/IEPs & 504s it's usually those at top
Yes. That doesn't do much to address the gifted child's learning needs & could lead to neg social issues.
A3 A big academic challenge for GT kids in mixed settings is simple boredom; not challenged, they tune out quickly
Depends on the subject area and their academic strengths. Some kids are math geniuses and struggle with SS and ELA.
A3 Many Ts are intimidated when Ss know more than them, happens often in upper HS, and leads to frustrating relationship
Q3: While they need to learn to work WITH all kinds of Ss. Their frustration and lack of patience is obvious w/ lowest levels.
Depends. Some gifted Ss very squeaky but not always in ways you think "gifted."
A3 Mix setting often difficult 4 academic&intellectual needs 2 be met = not challenged, bored. Provide inquiry w/ compelling Qs
A3 I see a lot of gifted kids failing their regular courses because they're unchallenged, can't be bothered.
My Ss school me pretty often, they have made a game out of it, and I love it!
Exactly, plus it can lead to desire to do well, so gifted Ss do it all, that doesn't help anything or anyone either
My former Asst. Supt. (now Supt. of Weehawken) brought the AP capstone project to our school.
what you say is so true.. maybe differentiating should focus on emotional development
yes!! & I feel that without the right support those students who do think outside the box go right back in
Show them the cover of 's Book. Why Won't You Just Tell Us The Answer?
I agree, Chuck. Quality v. quantity is key. Challenge and rigor outweighs the amount of workload.
A3. Often gifted are strongly independent. Collaboration difficult because they prefer to work alone or w/others at their level.
Wow! That is not what I would expect from anything "AP" -very good to know!
A3: Ts don't know how to push the curriculum. Instead use G Ss as another teacher.
A3: Pace and depth. Also anxiety if they don't "get it" right away.
I was *just* thinking that. :) We've used it with PD with my teachers. Got to have them USE it.
A3: They can go too fast and just give answers to lower levels if they get frustrated.
Anyone have experience with kids before and after being labeled gifted? Does it impact them positively or negatively?
A3: thomlinson offers strategies for "curriculum compacting" for G Ss in mixed ability grps
That's a big thing, but so hard to teach. And hard to implement when you've got so much curriculum to "cover."
Oh some are very noisy. Why didn't I get an A?
Agreed. The AP has being making positive changes over the past few years; quality over quantity.
That's a topic of great concern in Gifted Ed, especially for the ID process. Musically and athletically gifted???
As the mother of a gifted artist but not an "officially" gifted kid, I so much appreciated opportunities thru gifted program.
We are on the same page there! (usually followed by there must be something wrong with my teaching)
Think some of it is response to inroads International Baccalaureate programs are making.
Right--its our responsibility to identify when Ss are ready to learn at a deeper level, not just make them busy
I have found that the G&T Ss are some of the BEST to get good feedback from on how my class could improve. They have great ideas!
A2 we can nurture Gft Ss by allowing them 2 do resrch on topics of thr choice as it conects 2 topic; hve products catered 2 strngths
it can go both ways, but I've certainly seen confidant boosts
I've used them for that too. They know more what they'd really like to see, actually have useful suggestions.
I have some. Most Ss adapt well. Others egos take over for a period during MS.
I love the direction the new AP curriculum is going; great model for other classes too
Not only great ideas, but they are often the most honest when it comes to critical suggestions.
moving away from "imma cram as much trivia as I can into you also DBQs" to critical thinking
Q4: What curricular tools can SSE teachers utilize to accelerate rigor and challenge for gifted learners? https://t.co/K3WXmvLefN
My daughter (4th) more engaged at school. Was fine before but, especially in ELA, she LOVES the challenge.
I completely agree with you. Now if they could hurry up & get to the AP classes I am teaching.
I agree! Their views can be strong, esp contra. ss topics. Extroverted gifted will not hesitate to share.
hahaha -- yes. We're in the process of revising our state ss core; using APUSH as a model
Definitely! They definitely go beyond the "what would be easier" answer and suggest what would be better
absolutely. once saw G Ss get frustrated w/peer b/c S gave answer using a real-world example instead of just the answer
A4: I've been studying under and am a total convert to the kinds of scale-switching that does
A4: Definitely having the opportunity for S choice is important! This way they can showcase interests and talents
same thing has happened w/ my daughter (3rd) was got the label & access to new resources & challenges
Turning in early , great convo, love connecting w/ you all! Until next time! Keep on keepin' on
A4: Project Citizen, Project Capstone, Choice Boards, Skills-Based Assignments w, SS content
A4. I think #1 tool could be Question Formulation Technique from so gifted students can challenge themselves.
Bruce 8th grade from NC. Boy Scouts ran late
When I have Ss create political cartoons, my G&T Ss are some of the BEST!
Choice is key. I also feel that the quality and text level of curriculum is key. A juvenile/abridged text can bore some.
A4 primary sources to analyze when using inquiry to look at compelling Qs & supporting Qs
I had mine design some WWI propaganda posters... No words other than awesome!
Ts might consider developing conceptual based curriculum instead of standards or obj based. Can help G&T Ss
I would love to see some examples. We are working on west expansion with my gifted 8th graders now.
A4 If lessons have opportunities for further inquiry, opportunity for differentiation, +choice, then all Ss will be served
A4) Had APWH Ss create DBQs for particular topic. Gave them chance to see "problem" of DBQ from diff angle & explore sources.
A3 in 1 class I have 6-8 with very high achieving 8th but with 6th graders who work but R more deliberate. 8th graders have to wait
Lol. What about complexity?
yes... the system sometimes tends to be skewed towards extroverts
How did it turn out? I might implement it for my APUSH Ss
Speaking of differentiation, any advice on how to actually implement in large classrooms? I'll be teaching 45+ kids/hr next yr.
While Tomlinson is great for content areas, look at VanTassel-Baska. She's "guru" for differentiated prgming in gifted.
It went pretty well. Was challenging for them but think it helped them approach DBQs diff (for better).
Some G/T kids fail in an attempt to fit in with age-peers. Have to see kid thru multiple lenses...
I like challenging - if it isn't challenging, why do it?
7th create pol cartoons for promoting health reforms of early 1900s. I"ll snap a pic tomorrow!
A4: Assignments that allow for S choice. Allows for some Ss to go more in depth and create more complex final products
I find though that my introverts can produce some of the most comprehensive writing to show depth of understanding
primary document analysis = busy work. Primary doc analysis to prove a point = a skill.
Yes, I have found this as well & our district is mandating (encouraging enthusiastically) we do group work https://t.co/IlIK1jGIfb
A3. Often gifted are strongly independent. Collaboration difficult because they prefer to work alone or w/others at their level.
plus, challenge sounds cool - like "Civil War Challenge" or "The Challenge Between Athens and Sparta" - nebulous, but cool
Mass social studies framework from 2003! Needs update desperately but my admin don't realize
Been there. As many different primary source/docs/groups/centers as possible. Can be difficult.
Primary and secondary are both in equal weights
gifted kids see ambiguity--yet that frustrates--they want simple answers but intelligence wont allow it
I agree. We have to be careful how we craft our student-centered lessons to appeal to all Ss. https://t.co/4X30r4i49s
yes... the system sometimes tends to be skewed towards extroverts
Wish I could stay longer, but it is that time of day I have to take my daughter to ballet. Looking forward to the archives!
I use NHD with my advanced. Groups are optional. Best projects usually solo.
A4: Has anyone stumbled upon the College of William and Mary SS curr units for gifted? Great stuff!
Q5: What instructional strategies can SSE teachers utilize to accelerate complexity and creativity? https://t.co/YrK0uMcIUC
Design activities that allow for student choice in how they want to demonstrate mastery.
Fellow MA teacher agrees! What's the hold-up?
I love NHD, Joanne. Our Gifted Center students do the prj in 6th and 8th grade.
A4 Gamification has helped accelerate the rigor in my classroom for sure! Gives all Ss diff ways to challenge themselves!
agreed -- see them underperforming to not look like Hermione/Brainiac/nerd -- sometimes Ts reinforce that near-bullying
A4) Choice, flexibility to investigate multiple perspectives of an issue. Allow them to dig deep into the "why" of issues
Or worse, sucks joy out of learning, makes them revert to "fun" activities regular Ss enjoy
this looks good--will def. read!
A5. Present your informed interpretation of historical events through own selection & curation of primary sources.
A5: Lot's of props to Ss choice but also there is benefit to a well explained and designed task that offers insight into a topic
National History Day - best way to get Ss to be young historians
You must be too young to remember the controversy last time! It's so political! https://t.co/f7kHIgCUYX
Fellow MA teacher agrees! What's the hold-up?
A4 like giving choice to Ss, DBQs & FRQs are good, but have Ss tie docs to current issues
I should have known that. Thanks!
A5 Anything that involves choice. Conference to push to next level.
A5: I have thought about having a "guest student blogger" on my blog sometime. would start with someone who excells in that area.
I love this idea. https://t.co/vriNspqOC5
A5: I have thought about having a "guest student blogger" on my blog sometime. would start with someone who excells in that area.
A4). Always hold Ss to the highest expectations. They will always reach them.
I love this idea. A few weeks back had her daughter guest-host ...loved it. https://t.co/vriNspqOC5
A5: I have thought about having a "guest student blogger" on my blog sometime. would start with someone who excells in that area.
A5: give Ss real world problems to solve. Get involved in community.
A5: Use soc media products. Memes were created last week to show greater conflict during Jefferson era. I'll have to find examples.
Yes! And letting them know about those expectations before they begin! This way they know you expect big things
Easier for some courses than others but, yes, think this is really good idea & gets to inquiry & PBL.
A5: Engaging, relevant inquiry. We are looking into the effectiveness of Google MyMaps for 7th World Geo
No they nay not reach them but we have to encourage them to keep trying & it's OK & safe to fail https://t.co/N7pUQfnrba
A4). Always hold Ss to the highest expectations. They will always reach them.
Memes have been seen to gather their attention faster than I have seen any good video or presentation can.
A5. Primary source analysis all the time!! It was a serious struggle at first but now my kids enjoy/dig reading the actual sources!
A5: A friend of mine used speed dating act.on social reformists in the classroom. Think creatively and your students will buy in.
Nothing works better in a Gov. Class than simulation and problem solving. Students become the role and begin to think globally
Along same lines, thought about doing a "Student Tweet of the Day" Might start that one tomorrow!
Wonder if guest gifted students could host an session about social studies for gifted students.
High-achievers hate ambiguity, but gifted kids secretly crave it if they trust the T
True. I guess what I was saying was don't be afraid to change it up and get creative with instructional strats.
Love simulations! Think they offer opportunities for Ss gifted in less acad appreciated ways to shine as well.
A5 Learning centers, w/activity choices related to topic, Ss earb points-longer/challenging worth more vs several shorter for typ Ss
In total agreement, also memes are just as fun for us to make as they are to them.
A4: Document based questions have pushed the students to analyze documents and support their claims. this has been a plus
Interesting idea. A great way to find out what G&T Ss think about their classes.
Pull in tech when you can. Gifted students often thrive when its their academic strength!
Q6: How can SSE teachers differentiate products for gifted to tap into academic strengths and interests? https://t.co/u03AmbVpwD
great point... it is the teacherś attitude towards it that matters. Thanks Jodi!
Do this w/dictators in the modern era, going to do with Age of Reform/Explorers too. Ss loved it
A5:Love using pop culture in class. Did this last week G&T had some of best! "Be Like Bill" meme activity https://t.co/MThyh9YHu1
Also if kid is in GT Hist, probably also GT Sci, Math, ELA -- if all those teachers pile on extra HW... https://t.co/E3PVT9oPpJ
Extra hw is the WORST! The most gifted kids need time to think, let ideas breathe
Interesting--supports my thinking I have never had true GT Ss...mine all struggle with ambiguity!
I once did a Twitter search on & found that ss hate having to find X number of them. No meaning.
provide students with background, assess understanding and then simulate for application is a unit structure I value
See it all the time. My 8th grader got told "this extra HW is prepping you for college". BBBBSSSS https://t.co/E3PVT9oPpJ
Extra hw is the WORST! The most gifted kids need time to think, let ideas breathe
Makes sense. Why find 8 if 7 works fine?
Even better is to have kids investigate the motives behind the documents! Analyzing point of view is exciting
A6: Allow Ss to design projects, pitch to class, get feedback, & crest rubric for assessment.
I recall my 7th gr SS T talking about the changes & how we were to learn geog that year. Our texts had the corners cut off
A6 podcasts, presentations, writing, art...
A6: have kids search what other countries are teaching their Ss about the same historical event
Or even 1 if strong analysis answers the question.
A5 whn I incorporated current events through ths hlpd make connections 2 content & allw Ss 2 demonstrate their knwld
I agree. When we can identify with the emotion/tone/agenda within doc analysis, students see the larger issues
I stayed in Weehawken last year during BookCon! If I only knew!
. Thank you for a great chat.
Owqq good one!! https://t.co/AL1kAm4yNK
A6: have kids search what other countries are teaching their Ss about the same historical event
I looped with my G/T Ss for two years. Became evident who belonged to each camp. All wonderful kids
A6 tap into diff. mediums: lyrical writing, screenplays, presentations, etc. keep rigor high but differ the product
Think also has some great materials that could benefit G&T Ss.
All Ss need to demonstrate is that they have learned & can apply the concept to real-life application.
There are some great activities out there related to podcasts. My gifted students love listening or creating historian lect
Thank you all for participating and being patient with me at the beginning ! BONUS Q below. Keep in touch! https://t.co/w6MUWoGtiL
So envious! I have always wanted to loop. Makes sense for history class!
Yes always about the why & how comes dig deeper into context https://t.co/2nzeT7s86n
Even better is to have kids investigate the motives behind the documents! Analyzing point of view is exciting
🙌🏼👇🏼 https://t.co/P7BR4hw3g0
I agree. When we can identify with the emotion/tone/agenda within doc analysis, students see the larger issues
Choice is key. Give them options and watch their creativity take the assignment to new heights. Guide them on larger prj.
Thank YOU! Great topic and lots of ideas.
A6: I pulled textbook and newspaper excerpt from Spain, Cuba and Philippines to teach Span-Am war
