A2 Making my more about the learning. Going to try to implement LAUNCH cycle this year!
Writing is a sore spot for me. Nothing moves the test score needle. This year the key phrase is: DO OVERS!
https://t.co/5Pgx2pRhBS
Q2. What is something you are going to try this year after reflection on last yrs data?
Jennifer from Raleigh NC joining late

I can't wait to see Ss pursuing their passion.
Nicole from NY here, joining late!
A2 I'm in a new district and new grade, looking to expand on my last year's high-rigor and feedback, a lot of student choice
A2: Jumping in late... I'm going to do more with Ss' self-assessment this year. Always have been heavy on reflection - fine-tuning.
smiles across the miles! Have you checked out Write about? I do like the Do Overs motto! . https://t.co/b5CzJ1u68n

Q2. What is something you are going to try this year after reflection on last yrs data?
I read that book this summer! Lots of great ideas/advice there in
Working through it now...don't spoil the ending! :-)
I'm traveling so I'm lurking this but I also began teaching 5th last year! I am juggling content, too!
I hope there was more specific feedback 2 U than that! FWIW, don't ever lose the *nice*. There are enough mean ppl!
Brittany from Greensboro, NC! Jumping in late!
One thing I did differently this year was spent the 1st week focusing on growth mindset.
Please share with those wonderful artifacts your producing design, design, design! https://t.co/7noN5CgvCL
A2 Making my more about the learning. Going to try to implement LAUNCH cycle this year!
. Yes. This is my second time looping and I really like the 5th Gr. material.
Q3. what is something you found frustrating starting back OR from last year?
Aimee from VT a bit late A2: Clean up Genius hour routines, PBL, integrate makerspace & 3D printer more & alternative seating/space
BIG difference between "nice" and "permissive."
And procedures! Love it! Read "The Most Magnificent Thing", perfect for
I follow , but I'll take a closer look! And, write about any/everything. - informal and formal.
.
I plan to stay nice but plan to become tougher on the students. I had a rough time last year.
I did. I have about 7 or 8 picture books that I read. Love turning my Ss attitudes around!
A3: Student motivation and want to! Need a way to get them self motivated!
Procedures, procedures, procedures!
My 4th gr Ss wrote abt what they'd like so I'm trying 2 incorporate a lot. Balls, lots of pillows, high & low seating.
A3- I found it frustrating how hard my students are on themselves-no room for failure!
Wishing you good mojo then. Delicate line. Always a challenge to find the sweet spot of classroom mgt!
W/a limited budget it's challenging. I have a mom who can help me make the pillow cases - I stink at sewing!
I've found that, too. Worse than the parents in way too many cases. Something very unhealthy abt that perspective.
I'm fortunate to have a generous budget but I'm not sure what to purchase.
I want mine to see the classroom as they see gaming, keep trying until you get it right! We are doing a gamify theme
, I agree w/ . You can b nice, but still be firm. I will never stop being nice. https://t.co/PELfojvIet
I hope there was more specific feedback 2 U than that! FWIW, don't ever lose the *nice*. There are enough mean ppl!
A3- recording.Ss are constantly competing for turns w/ out background noise- from podcasts, to movies, to books etc.
A3. Not back to school yet. But I'm frustrated by the constant changes. This year - new SIS, new science prog, and new reading prog.
I bet that made a huge difference.
We have staff development on our "optional" workday!
I asked mine last year to think about their attitudes and try to implement same thinking at school!
A3 - Not sure if it's "frustrating", but trying to fit everything in can be tough (i.e. lessons I deem important, CCSS, programs).
Try teaching them about growth mindset. It's a game changer. https://t.co/vK7OGCRr8O
A3- I found it frustrating how hard my students are on themselves-no room for failure!
Process-driven activities but still needing to cover outdated content, many 'standards' need revitalized for this time/info age
A3 Want my focus to be on Ss, not on what the naysayers are discussing https://t.co/OxGqTLPu9y
Q3. what is something you found frustrating starting back OR from last year?
A3 getting more colleagues on board.
A3: We are blessed w/lots of tech, but sometimes it's not ready 2 go. Hard to establish everyday procedures that are so vital.
and teachers need to "revitalize" the way they teach to reach them!
Agreed. Everything is a priority. It gives us a chance to imagine what HS Ss must feel w/ 7 subjects a day https://t.co/IHlXzaeFQb
A3 - Not sure if it's "frustrating", but trying to fit everything in can be tough (i.e. lessons I deem important, CCSS, programs).

Been fighting that fight this week...been doing curriculum review/revision.
What are some of your other favorite books for the beginning of the year?
Which titles do you like to read aloud?

100% YES! I could care less about scores anyway. For me, it's the "real life" gains that Ss make that's important
A4- 1/2 struggling w/ this question bc 'most progress' is in the eye of the beholder. I had a selective mute begin speaking...
Frustrating, but I'll learn to deal: rotating 3 classes and chopped up segments.
I'm looking into alternative seating, too. I'm thinking about different types of seating for Ss to choose. How about u?
A5: my passion for the content and for education. My total belief in them as a person...not just a student!
A4- 2/2 non readers reading and loving it, and Ss creating their own podcasts and YouTube channels with their writing content
