The #TXLchat provides a forum for Texas librarians (but not limited to Texas librarians) to create collaborative connections, share educational resources, and foster life-long learning.

After we are finished tonight, I encourage you to check out https://t.co/iJF6vPVFho They have a plan to get 5 million students to share their story online by 2020. #txlchat
A2: I am amiss in teaching students about the need to and about ethical sharing of their work. But maybe it's baby step- they are sharing with classmates as before they only share with the teacher. #txlchat#babysteps
A2: I have a twitter, facebook and instagram account for my library. I also send out a smore monthly to parents. Our school just started using @Seesaw this year and now that we are more comfortable with it I would like to learn about the blog sharing feature #txlchat
A2: Use the social media platforms where they will be seen I admit I have a problem keeping up with this due to making sure privacy is ensured #txlchat
A2 This is where our district falls short. So much of what they do is confined to the network. They (our HS students) can't receive emails from outside the network. Not #careerready or #lifeready#txlchat
A2 You have to make sure student work is available outside of the learning management system and outside the firewall of the district. Otherwise the audience is still limited. #txlchat#TxASL#txlchat
A2: I have been remiss in teaching students how and what to share on the global stage. However, we should celebrate #babysteps as they now share with classmates and the campus where before they only share with the teacher. #txlchat
A2: I have a blog and twitter account where I show off my students' work. Also, I stay connected to others around the globe through a google community, and we often share our work with others using @Flipgrid#txlchat
A1: Seeing the work of others show students how the same idea can be applied in different ways. It opens up possibilities and gives them examples of creativity. #txlchat
A2: I also share their work with others on campus through a @SmorePages It is important that their work be seen by Ts in the building as well as online. #txlchat
A2: There has to be purpose in the assignment and why the need for a global audience. And that being said, we need to offer our students global opportunities/real world opportunities. #txlchat
A3: I have a bundle of pics to post now so my suggestion is to post as close to the event or creation as possible Waiting to post is a #nowin deal #txlchat
A2 We share our work, thoughts & opinions on SM, but for them to truly grasp that there is a global community invested in them they need to be privy to the reactions of said community. I print all posts that get replies, place them in plastic sleeves & give to Ss. #txlchat
A1: To show how different students responses where to the same activity...hit everyone follows the same path to understanding, so making using S work as a visual helps others see multiple perspectives! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
A3: When trying a tech tool for the first time, have students work with a partner. It's 1/2 the devices, 1/2 the wifi, and more importantly, 1/2 the questions they will ask you. #txlchat#babysteps
A1: Praise shouldn’t be limited to home. Just think how happy we get from a “like” they feel this every time they see their work up in school. #txlchat
A3: Makes a big difference to connect with a PLC when you think about global opportunities. When you have a partner in another school elsewhere, makes these real world connections so much easier. #txlchat
A3 Tag whoever is part of the work Ss are sharing: authors, illustrators, organizations, the district, departments within the district, city council members. Let Ss know their work will be shared with the global community, it brings a whole other level of accountability. #txlchat
A4: Knowing student work would be shared widely, the students shared their passion-- not just their assignment and they were #champions for a cause and #experts on thier topics. #txlchat
A4: With our Vietnam project, we receive letters annually from soldiers who were friends with the soldiers memorialized or from family members. #txlchat
A2: Students contribute to our interactive timeline in the history hallway. I laminate and post work throughout my room. I tweet a lot of their work out too. #txlchat
We tweeted out some of our storybook character pumpkins at Halloween and tagged the authors. One
author DMd and asked for an address to write to the S. Highlight of that 3rd grader's year! #txlchat
Develop a global PLN and connect regularly. Develop a shared space where students can collaborate, share, and discuss each other's work. Ex: Kidblog, Edmodo, Flipgrid, etc... #txlchat#globalclassroom
A3: other than sharing via social media (which I do, even tho I didn’t include in A2); look for more ways for interaction that Ss can RESPOND to — like with @Flipgrid! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
YES! I've tagged authors, and sometimes they tweet back. The students get crazy excited that the author has seen what they're doing and actually wrote back! ❤️ #txlchat#TxASL
A4 Students became aware that I used levels of techn when I asked if I could post their work on Twitter when we were doing I Love Reading last year. #txlchat
A3 It may be important to include acknowledgement of Ts as well as Ss work/efforts to connect our Ss to global audiences/share real-world meaningful learning. #txlchat listening in late from Phoenix airport, heading home from #alamw2019 to Tucson
Best example was former student had his historical paper published in National Archives journal. He claims to this day it was one of the reasons he was accepted to an Ivy League college! #txlchat
A1 #txlchat Sharing our work make it become more 'real' and connects us to more opportunities for reflection & conversations. I found this great article about Sharing our learning: https://t.co/thT0vBrIfI
A4: build long-term relationships with other classrooms - not just a one-time thing. Students get to know one another, and in turn, learn from each other. #txlchat#globaled
A4 Our Ss created thank you messages that were mailed to US Veterans who work in our school district. Many were visited by these veterans who felt honored by these young writers. Students literally understood that their words, intentions, and feelings make an impact. #txlchat
A4: The pride that the individuals feel seeing others positively respond to their posted work! I did a quick #flipgrid activity where Ss talked about their fave picture book, & receiving feedback via the platform boosted their speaking confidence! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
A5: Obviously, twitter is an amazing platform for sharing. But anything that shares is great. Teaching students to seek the right place and way to share is part of the #babysteps#txlchat
A5 If you blog, share student work there. Use social media. Use the campus website. Does your campus or district send out digital newsletters? Perfect! #txlchat
A5: social media & #Flipgrid is what I’m using...definitely cannot wait to read everyone else’s responses to see what else is out there and available! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
A5 beyond SM & blogs, handwritten letters, poems for #PoemInYourPocket Day shared at the public library and district offices as well as #KindnessRocks left around town. Word gets back to them! #txlchat
The fabulous @jody_waters and @Mrs_Marshall5 shared student work via Googlehangout. Elementary and Middle school students learning from each other. #txlchat
A5: Instagram is a great place to share student work - many students prefer this platform and there are tons of educators on Insta. You can post up to 10 photos and/or videos at a time, use hashtags, tag users, and have public or private accounts. #txlchat#teachersofinstagram
A5 Our journalism teacher has added a "Mustang Showcase" link to the school's online student newspaper and shares student work (submitted by teachers) #txlchat
Thank you all for making this an important discussion. So many wonderful ideas that we shared GLOBALLY. And it was inspired by a simple graphic posted on a webpage by @crosland_a And Sonja is right. Keep pushing because we are doing it for the kids. #txlchat#TxASL
Fast & furious #txlchat as always! So much learning from this awesome PLN! I'm committing to being intentional in my sharing of student work this week! YOU make this chat GREAT!
@BevLadd has been connecting globally through different projects for several years. Her latest is the World Read Aloud Connections Project. Check it out...#txlchat#WRAD
#A3#txlchat I think we get caught up taking pictures w/ our Ss all smiling for the camera, w/ whatever they are doing. Then we block out the faces w/ emojis, etc. Why not use creative words to tell a story, stand behind Ss or to side to take the pictures & then share out?
A5 Organizing exchanges with other schools is another way to create global communities!Last year @crockettmslib, @LibraryGal17 & our school participated in @the_kind_club#KindMarks Challenge and exchanged student created bookmarks with kind messages from all 3 schools! #txlchat

A4 #txlchat Teacher had her students use their 'professional' twitter account (this is HS) & this is what they call their accounts. They created #booksnaps about Dear Martin. Posed questions about specific topics. @getnicced responded directly to Ss. Powerful! @CamilleProffer
