A1: Everything we do in life is competency-based, from working with others, to creating solutions to problems. We have to plan each lesson based on relevance to "real world" situations. Without relevance, there is no real student engagement. #AppleEDUchat
  • WickedDecent Dec 11 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1 Competency-based learning relies upon evidence; It isn't about completing every assignment or points off for late work; it's about students generating evidence of their understanding -- and that's very different from how school has looked in the past #appleeduchat #sblchat

  • DrewetteCard Dec 11 @ 9:12 PM EST
I agree totally. As long as they can demonstrate understanding and apply the concept/idea, it doesn’t have to be tangible. I believe MAKING it tangible is the next step, and a crucial one at that. #AppleEDUchat

I like this idea of relevance to "real world" rather than suggesting that every classroom experience HAS to be an authentic "real world" task; sometimes we forget school exists in the real world & there's also room for fun & whimsy in learning #appleeduchat
    In reply to @MeshaDaniel
  • scibri Dec 11 @ 9:15 PM EST
A2 One size does not fit all. Each S is unique &different. If we do not allow for personalization, then we keep the S from becoming the best that he/she can be. WE have to know our Ss, their strengths, weaknesses, & experiences so we can customize their learning #AppleEDUChat
  • jdeinhammer Dec 11 @ 9:15 PM EST
