I haven't tried them out. I am new to Twitter and this chat. Excited to be here!

Anyone have a good resource to create your own gifs?
-

Anyone else including in their schools?
-
I have a question-who from will be at ?
-
-
I am thinking of starting one in my school library this year. Going to start small.
-
-
-
-
Trying to start a small one next school year.
-
it would be fun to make our own gifs!
-
-
-
-
I don't know how to make gifs! Just use them.
-
Yes! Just winding up my first week at home. Preparing for Google tests and coloring!
-
-
Any ideas or good resources for starting a makerspace?
-
-
-
and has an awesome space at her school.
-
-
Good morning from muggy KS
-
-
I know there are "gif creator" apps-something new for us to investigate!
-
morning, Monika! We are having fun with GIFS today.
-
-
-
-
there was just a chat this past week on about Makerspaces. I want to go through the tweets.
-
-
-
-
-
-
You can never go wrong with Peanuts!
-
yeah! Congratulations to our own Ken!
-
hmm Not really messed with them before. I saw 's post. Will have to search
-
-
-
Have to miss it this year :( big congratulations to for his award!!
-
I just installed the ImgPlay app to play with today
-
-
-
-
We're going 1:1 Chromebooks this year. We've done tons of planning. Any advice?
-
Remember that teachers start with replacement use and then they have to work toward the deeper uses. Takes time
-
I am soo excited! My first time and so many great people will be there! Never been to Denver
-
-
-
Denver will be a first for me too! Hoping to see a bit of it!
-
6-8 this year and hope to expand in the future.
-
On the main twitter page you can add gifs ready to go.
-
All the planning in the world won't prepare you for the unexpected problems that arise-keep a positive attitude
-
I was just curious. We use 1:1 iPads for 6-8. I don't feel we use them to the fullest though.
-
we gave our freshmen chromebooks this year. Used google classroom and docs all the time. Was great
-
is doing the same this fall.
-
-
I agree. Remember the SAMR model, lots of support, create risk taking environment
-
we are hoping for more as we have had Chromebook carts for a few years, but I agree.
-
I hope you love it! Wonderful people at and lots to see in Denver
-
I think the mind shift is the biggest part. Teachers need to feel like it is OK to take risks
-
I doubt I will have time. But my husband has plans! I want to just take advantage of good food
-
I am starting to wonder if Chromebooks would be a better option.
-
Completely agree! Attitude and perspective!
-
Things to consider how much were carts utilized, was it mainly a few teachers? was it mostly replacing
-
we love our Chromebooks and felt we needed a full keyboard. I think any 1:1 mobile device program is great
-
Hmmm will have to get on my computer to look...using my phone at the moment.
-
I think I will be going white water rafting Sunday :o
-
And make mistakes AND learn from their students!
-
Oh dear, Chrome just crashed on me!
-
-
Megan - a lot depends on what you want to do. iPads can still be used beyond just replacement
-
Did you have a lot of tabs open?
-
Been trying to get my teachers to use them for more than just games, calculators, & AR tests.
-
meet with teams of Ts 1x a month during the school day, we learn together, then they try w/ Ss, then we share
-
-
that shift to higher order is often tricky! Are they using Google Apps?
-
Ideally-the new iPad Pro with keyboard and pencil is AMAZING! Would be my first choice
-
-
For many schools iPad Pro price point is a big issue
-
Good morning from Pennsylvania.
-
Yes. They use it a little bit. I think the Chromebook keyboard would make that easier.
-
makes big typing assignments easier.
-
In a year or so the price will go down.
-
Those are nice! I have seen them in stores.
-
morning! Nice profile pic!
-
You'll have to show me on Tuesday ...somehow I'm missing them.
-
But not to sub $300 for a single device. That has made Chromebook fastest growing
-
-
-
carts used regularly often none available to check out. Some used more than others, but every year more & more.
-
can be easier for the kids / HS same device is used Most important is kids creating
-
Growth and improved implementation over time is the key
-
Does anyone use them for lower grades like K-2?
-
Kathleen, we are having fun using the gifs on Twitter this morning. try it!
-
Yes! Talk to many who do. They use shared accounts or kiosk mode.
-
we have an iPad cart that we share.
-
we do have a plan for regular PD led by our expert Ts.
-
-
Am I the only one now distracted by searching all the GIF options?
-
I know! typing in just the right word is tricky!
-
We use iPads. Would Chromebooks be too fragile for K-2?
-
No! I am too :) Trying to figure out where they are. On Tweetdeck and not here.
-
We had a lot of PD for google apps and classroom. Helped a lot
-
Nope! I had no idea what I was missing out on!
-
-
morning hope all is well.
-
Chromebbo price point is an important factor.
-
More rugged models out. Touch screens out too
-
-
I think iPads are best for younger grades. But keyboard is nice.
-
I agree...along with offering necessary support for Ts.
-
chromebook management makes it an smart option too!
-
ongoing PD is so important. Having an idea come up and getting support is where it is at. Twitter!
-
YES! management so easy to manage for different ages and different groups.
-
Hi Kay! we are using gifs today - check it out
-
-
Absolutely! If Ts get frustrated w/ something, they may just not do it.
-
Played with new models this week. Much more rugged
-
my partner teacher and I collaborate and talk through ways to use tech a lot.
-
I agree we are now using OneBooks for our 6, 7, & 8th gr. Tablet with keyboard.
-
I was there and have shifted seeing what others are doing
-
Hi Nancy hope all is well with you and your family.
-
Agreed and it adds to extra stress that the T's aren't keeping up with each other
-
is a 1-1 iPad school. K-8. Built in charging stations in every room. We hope to adopt Apple Classroom
-
having time to just think, talk and search for new tech ideas is so important.
-
-
You can only add GIFs on Tweetdeck if you save the GIF to your computer. Not the Twitter created ones
-
So important! It would be great to get everyone doing that, Twitter chats, etc.
-
Have to let Ts work at their pace but require progress (like Ss)
-
-
HS Ss manage well without the keyboard-they text type.
-
Time is the universal factor for Ts
-
Thanks...I am realizing this now. Will have to find some to save :)
-
-
Much of my time is spent learning so I can be resource for Ts
-
You are right. My jr high students type faster on their phones than on computer.
-
Setting manageable goals for Ts is important.
-
-
I save all mine to GDrive installed on the computer. 1 folder for memes & 1 folder for GIFs
-
-
Yes! Not all schools have that support for Ts. It is needed
-
Throwing out a question: Looking at having Ts create their own PD this year. Thoughts? Measuring of accountability?
-
-
-
ooohhh. I like this idea. Thank you.
-
Cool! Is this something you found through the App Store?
-
How do you make sure your 'experts' get their PD to advance their learning?
-
-
Great idea. Might make it more personalized for them.
-
No sadly can not attend this year.
-
-
will some general guidelines/bars be given? ex implementation of a certain tech or skill?
-
exactly on top of everything T's do on a daily basis
-
Cool! Did you get that through the App Store?
-
Well hopefully we will run into each other at something else!
-
Yes I will be there. I get in Saturday and leave Thursday
-
that, twitter chats, reading books that interest them, research something they want to do differently, etc.
-
I think the creativity and fun factor when I work with my partner teacher is the best!
-
-
Go to Drive online, click Setting (gear icon) & choose Download Drive. It creates Drive folder on your comp.
-
I serve the schs in the Archdioceses of Baltimore and Washington, outreach prog at NDMU
-
perhaps and quarterly 1 to 1 meeting?
-
Really late to the party. What are you chatting about today?
-
Been toying with idea and then met at who's Ps gave him the go-ahead to do this.
-
-
morning, Ann! Open chat and playing around with the Gifs on Twitter.
-
Allows you to store non-Google apps files and edit them without download & re-upload process.
-
For accountability, maybe have them blog or write reflection on the PD they chose.
-
That is something to consider!
-
sometimes when wide open it is hard for some. Love letting them have voice and agency in their learning
-
Not only for accountability, but to share those ideas w/ other Ts. Promotes collaborative learning.
-
Our experts have done much of it on their own or have found valuable PD.
-
-
-
Awesome! Too many schools lean on their 'experts' but don't give them time to learn themselves.
-
-
awesome way to connect the teachers in your diocese!
-
-
Create a Google Site or blog and share-have everyone enter their notes. Great accountability
-
-
Hope to get it extended to out diocese 2017-2018. First steps are in-house.
-
23 tabs now that chat is almost done. Love my new Mac :)
-
This is neat! What is your position?
-
Wow Ann, that is impressive! Love it!
-
can't wait to read this. Will have to share with my principal.
-
-
ha! I knew 6 tabs was not a big deal!
-
so those that would struggle I'd probably have conversation.
-
Ask them to meet monthly for 15 - 30 minutes and disucss their progress w/ 3 other teachers.
-
It’s been a slow go. I still have to get everyone used to commenting on each other’s thoughts
-
That is good way to help those who would find it hard to get started.
-
Director of Instructional Technology for the Archdiocese of Newark (NJ)
-
Especially now that Google Sites won't be awful anymore.
-
should I give Google sites a go now? Used Weebly last year.
-
I can't handle too many tabs. Drives me crazy.
-
How are Google Sites changing?
-
That's the rest of my day - closing multiple windows with multiple tabs open.
-
I use Weebly for my classroom site & like it. Have not used Google.
-
Just tried Weebly for the first time. I’m loving it.
-
I just am not in love with Weebly. I think I will look at Google Sites.
-
Wait until they release the new version. Weebly still easier.
-
I've not used it, but hear there are great changes coming.
-
-
-
make sure it's not "1 and done". Ts need support along the way.
-
-
-
what a great idea! Good luck!
-
Really? What don’t you like?
-
Thanks for the chat this morning everyone! Always a great way to start the weekend.
-
Thanks for attending a fun today! Next week will moderate chat on School and Classroom culture.
-
seems kind of clumsy for me to use. so many choices too!
-
-
Thanks for ALL of the advice today! Have a great day!
-
Have a great day everyone!
-
That’s interesting. I’ve sort of fallen for it!
