It's Friday! Good morning ! Your schools budget tripled last night and you get to decide how to spend it! What do you do?
Good morning, ! Happy Friday!
Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
Good morning
Carl from Avonsleigh Australia
Good morning!! Happy weekend to all
Good Morning ! Stephanie, joining in again from SC.
Good morning! If our budget tripled, I would reinstate our full music program which has been reduced and renovate our high school
Hello my friend! I'm so sorry about your Mets.
I'd spend more money on ways to get students out of school and moving through the real world experience
More money for schools??? What an incredible dream for a Friday! Just the question made my day! 😊😊😊
Good Morning If you're in the NYC area, my wife is in an Opera tomorrow. Great chance to hear awesome music… https://t.co/JEpmlwaci3
Good morning friends of ! Welcome to the weekend! How is everyone today? Hope u had a great week!
Good Morning - Happy Friday! Penny from Georgia here.
Good Morning Hoping to finish the week strong today
Good morning how are things in Paris?
Good morning, - hope our Florida friends are faring well! Thinking of you this morning.
Good Friday morning! Triple budget priority: more Ts, smaller classrms. Trumps
Good morning! I love today's question - if only this could come true!
Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for everything.
Books, Chromebooks and flex seating for everyone!
Good morning . Stacey from NJ. Still smiling from meeting last night!
Good morning, Tribe! Happy Friday!
What's long about the weekend Kelley?
Instantly give all teachers & staff 1K bonus.
Ooh! I'd use the $$ to find a way to restructure the day. Too early and too long for many SS. Shift to shorter, more productive
Good morning and happy friday friends!
Good morning !! Very excited for Christian Community Day with 👏🏻💕
We do in my department! My GH project? Organizing ! https://t.co/jNJ8FBIwxp
Why can't we do with Ts? Give them time every week to explore something they are passionate about.
good morning! sorry I am late!
Not my fault this morning :)
Goof morning and Happy Friday !
Brian, HS principal from Mass.
If our school budget were tripled, I would build proper facilities/rooms for gym, performing arts/& STEM classes
Columbus Day? My boys have a 4 day weekend.
I would love to get new gym equipment for the kids! And new books for the library 📚 I would go crazy at Chapters!! 😜
I would hire more people and give everyone a monthly book allowance!
If my budget tripled, I'd put back in my elementary & middle schools (even just pt- time)
Whatever resources those $$$ would buy, I would want them to be balanced with professional learning time to support implementation.
Then gather leadership team together (w/a good lunch) & determine what we need to increase innovative instruction for kids
I like your idea, Christina! I am at a loss at what I would do. I feel like we have plenty.
So easy! We're finally getting that helicopter!
Finish updating each classroom with tech, hire my media specialist full time, & develop meaningful PD w/ ppl to help implement
:) ;) no looking up info to help me understand children of trauma
I'd use that money to cut teacher/student ratio to 1:15 or so. And add EC staff because their workload is unreal.
Cool. Enjoy.
Obviously not an Australian holiday
Good morning, . I'm Ku, Learning Coach, Happy Friday from Argentina.
Yes! Transportation is a huge part of our rural budget, this would open up possibilities! more vocational… https://t.co/oaaxmVKf2w
Ooh! I'd use the $$ to find a way to restructure the day. Too early and too long for many SS. Shift to shorter, more productive
Building renovations and LOTS more subs for teacher labs. And instructional coaching positions at every building!
I like that idea, too, more internships. field trips. I think I would take my Ss on more field trips.
G'day! David joining from Sydney, Australia! Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian part of PLN. Those on East Coast of USA, stay safe!
Wait what?! Your elementary schools have no libraries?!
So many great answers to this. More staff in elementary schools would be a place to start.
We are celebrating a guy who got lost and found a completely different country
Awesome. How's your learning coming along?
Know that you all remain in my thoughts prayers. Peace!
Happy Thanksgiving to you Chris & all my fellow Canadians!! Wish I could go home for dinner!
I would use the money to plan and provision for tech upgrades -- including devices and infrastructure -- for next five years.
I have a couple of resources at school I think. I'll check later this morning!
Sweet, I can picture how much fun you two had:)
$$ Flexible seating for all. More simulation/PBL. Mini-courses for HSers to explore their interests.
I'd hire additional liberal arts Teachers - offer creative writing, arts and humanities electives for elem & MS kids.
With all these little people have to do..there is not enough help https://t.co/nJXLKe5tqV
So many great answers to this. More staff in elementary schools would be a place to start.
Good morning happy happy Friday!
That would be great! Thank you!
That's awesome! That's great PD.
I find students learn so much from well planned field trips. the money is in thinking them through and acting on it.
I am a person, and I strongly believe in as a tool: my $ goes to projectors and meaningful films
I'd put a third of it in an interest bearing account and have Ts apply for grants from that account
I just looked, wow, he does what you love to do. Nice!
nope, it's just me - kids I have now at HS had me at ES before position eliminated. ES librarians not mandated in NYS
Try this again without typos:
Good morning and Happy Friday !
Brian, HS principal from Mass.
Yes! Add smaller class sizes to my list!
And thought he was in India
Wait a minute...that's me every day.
I hope you are finding things to help and that you have support at school. I struggle w/ this as well.
Holy crap Wow Do Ts have classroom libraries?
Allowing teachers a sabbatical, in return they will produce a new program that would be implemented to better the school &/or clssrm
I would want to increase teacher pay and pay for all field trips so every student participates.
This is a great idea, too!
That's awesome! It's great that you and your colleagues get a chance to grow at your own pace.
That's awesome! https://t.co/GkOhSfPT9M
I like your idea, Christina! I am at a loss at what I would do. I feel like we have plenty.
Absolutely! Denis https://t.co/gaocrPAnEm
Ooh! I'd use the $$ to find a way to restructure the day. Too early and too long for many SS. Shift to shorter, more productive
I'd send Ts to national conferences to present to other Ts and learn from them FTF. Invest in accountability to the whole profession
Good morning friends. Steve from NJ popping in
I love this idea and wanted to do something like it but money and time
Just starting to realize it is more prevalent than I knew
Nice! Enjoy! Hope you have a great weekend as well:)
I would create pilot program where kids don't learn subjects in isolation but through an interdisciplinary project.
Upgrade on facilities & flexible learning furniture, more enrichment of student programs, interactive outdoor learning space
absolutely - but who is responsible for , , research & inquiry?
Love this idea! Do you have an Ed Fund in your district? https://t.co/n6D4ER0SJH
I'd put a third of it in an interest bearing account and have Ts apply for grants from that account
I am in shock. Do they have technology?
Don't you wish this was reality instead of a dream?
Reply on budget X 3 = 1/3 teacher pay, 1/3 tech infrastructure and support, 1/3 Ss supplies w meals allowance as needed
If we took all the $$ spent on classroom librariaes, maybe we'd have enough for 2 FT .
I think we're so used to doing w/out that it's hard to imagine. I'd get picture books galore and an author visit every month!
Hi, Brian! Hope you have a great weekend!
Beyond resources that may be non-consumable, more food for our students in need would be great...really supports the learning.
we're 1:1 laptops K-12. That's part of the reason we don't need librarians. ::sigh::
Drama at 5am! Daughter Almost missed the bus because her sandwich was swiped and no time to make a new one! Ugh. Fill that coffee..
I'd also invite authors every week to my media center😘 and would have first billing!!!
Wow! I had no idea! I can imagine.
Oh my classroom library is mostly my one. I buy it.
we have an education foundation -- extremely generous! Ts can apply for grants & admin can too
Investing in building teacher capacity ensures sustainability and helps retention
I would extend school day and allow budget to support robust extracurricular program with something for everyone and no homework
and don't be shocked - shiny toys are way sexier than librarians.
I'd put a third of it in an interest bearing account and have Ts apply for grants from that account
who takes care of the technology? classroom teachers?
Even allowing Ts to go to state conferences could make a difference; did for me my 2nd yr teaching science.
Tech can NOT replace people!! UGH!
If school budget tripled, improve school environment.Doing things on cheap depresses school community, morale is vital yet overlooked
Coaches! I want instructional coaches!
I'd fund every useful field trip possible for Ss to connect passion/learning/life. Instant Relevance! https://t.co/ty4KURohNp
it's going to be 5/20! You should come!
All of this, please! https://t.co/mLjqCIVqdP
Upgrade on facilities & flexible learning furniture, more enrichment of student programs, interactive outdoor learning space
Wow! I am so naive. I am always shocked with bad decisions that aren't best for kids.
It's so funny, but I'm thinking "Who's Steve? Oh yeah, Mr. Isaacs." Hope you and have a beautiful wknd!
Sorry I'm late...facilities. All else at https://t.co/VIR27O0NeK is phenomenal, but we still teach out of trailers. Can do better.
I need to learn more. I will keep you in the loop. Where are you from?
If my school ever got that boost instead of a sedative I would hire interventionist, go 1:1, and buy band instruments.
Reduce class sizes, overhaul lunch and breakfast offerings to bring quality farm to table meals that look and taste pleasing.
Yes! My school has breakfast every day for Ss during advisory https://t.co/2tSWxZZf6S
Beyond resources that may be non-consumable, more food for our students in need would be great...really supports the learning.
I would like flexible seating. Hope you have a great weekend, Ku!
I agree, we were talking about this last night about something else in my district
classrm libraries INCRDBLY well-$, at least when I was at ES. Part of reason "central collection" not "essential"
Same thoughts! Putting the onus on teachers to spend $ on books is not cool. https://t.co/KRGVYlpd4X
If we took all the $$ spent on classroom librariaes, maybe we'd have enough for 2 FT .
Make sure all have breakfast & lunch rip out all Fluorescent lights install less industrial walls add carpets comfy chairs
And of course my extended school day would support space that makes people WANT to stay at school. And increase pay for Ts
Thinking of our Florida buddies https://t.co/yYu6gf5aiL
Good morning, - hope our Florida friends are faring well! Thinking of you this morning.
Or create/sponsor edcamps and make our teachers the experts.
:). You have a wonderful weekend too!
Are you a TC school? or do you use a basal?
yes! If only a few Ts in each building are asking to go to state and national conferences that indicates teacher isolation
I loved that show. I was sad when they took it off Neflix.
So many needs... facilities, tech, books, but I still go back to people!
yes hungry students don't learn
I would have every T design a nook for their room based on their passion. Reading nook, cooking station, photography, gaming, etc
Librarians were the 1st positions reduced when we had to cut the budget. Reinstated now, thankfully. https://t.co/bbWqVmxe5s
If my budget tripled, I'd put back in my elementary & middle schools (even just pt- time)
honestly, not sure anymore - was TC when I was moved but things change so quickly...
It's great to add tech, but let's also add training and tech support so it can be utilized to the fullest!
Suggested to friend ind study in history in priv sch, electives aren't offered, imagine ability to do for all Ss all topics
I cannot imagine your job, if Ss haven't been to the library before SMH
Ok it's casual Friday but not for the hair. Gotta go!!!
oh, yeah - we're expendable all over. Worry abt test scores & Ss apathy toward reading then cut your smh
I'd grow a mentorship program and supply it w/quality materials. Find out what Ts want and how they would impact S learning.
Have a great day everyone! Hoping for a calm Friday in 3rd grade after a hard week!
Have an awesome weekend, Friends! So many great ideas...if only some of them could get funded.
You too Ellen! Are you going to ?
I do this every year. My space is important to me! https://t.co/JFMbGsje4v
I would have every T design a nook for their room based on their passion. Reading nook, cooking station, photography, gaming, etc
As a history teacher, I wouid be psyched to see what Ss want to focus on & what they produce
I ❤️ that no one responded they would want a pay raise! It's all about the kids - and I thought Ts were greedy and self-serving! 😜
My current hair look is scary Friday ! https://t.co/jeI3eAMnt4
Ok it's casual Friday but not for the hair. Gotta go!!!
I'll see you tomoro Eric!
for sure, some might really like history !!!! :)
I'm making huge text to self connections reading your string of tweets! need to change this! How?
Have an awesome Friday & weekend rest (be safe if you're in Florida) Thanks again for waking me up Im out
enjoy the holiday Chris - we're all thankful for you!
western, rural Massachusetts. Rural poverty, dysfunction here. Very diff from my time in Chicago, but trauma = same
& bugs me when districts use us to say We'll bring back librarians IF you vote for our referendum
Awesome! I think it's great to share our own passions with our students
Hard to support literacy without the resources: books of all levels, paper, pencils, journals... Tech isn't everything. Sorry.
Yes. Crazy. I wanted to get my lib cert a few years ago, then the reductions made me rethink... https://t.co/BNgODMYu0p
oh, yeah - we're expendable all over. Worry abt test scores & Ss apathy toward reading then cut your smh
Happy Friday! Thanks for the strength to get back in there after meet the teacher night last night!
Good point, Chris! . How can we overlook the basics? https://t.co/uUm2Y76mme
Beyond resources that may be non-consumable, more food for our students in need would be great...really supports the learning.
oh, we hustle! I think Ss see that are versatile & are life-long skills to be developed
ummm... put in charge? (hee hee)
in a million years, would you have ever imagined you'd be typing those words? Crazy, right?
I am late again! What question did I miss? Oh, and good morning from South Carolina!
I mentioned that b/c Ts are struggling and that effects performance. It's a real issue.
my eyes have been wide open abt fickle public support for since I was a kid - my nana was a library lady too
can you spare some change for some art teachers too? My kids had no art until 6th grade.
I am in CT; If I find a workshop, I will let you know! I am right near Bradley Airport
I bet you do! You have no choice!
Have people that teach make decisions lol
ALL the books and author visits!! Outlets with USB ports. Gliders for chair legs. And an assistant!
art, phys fitness, music, books - the Renaissance folks are rolling in their resting places
Books for classrooms, supplies and resources for teachers.
Good morning ! Your schools budget tripled last night and you get to decide how to spend it! What do you do?
they can get a little smelly after a while (raising book to face and sniffing)
Love! *pulls out graph paper, begins designing* , an idea for our tropical charter school! https://t.co/6XoDtKu3mz
I would have every T design a nook for their room based on their passion. Reading nook, cooking station, photography, gaming, etc
Okay, I'm climbing off my soapbox & prepping for another day of w my 9th graders - they're loving it! Be well
eyes on the weather today. Your state & everyone affected by hurricane are in my thoughts & prayers.
oh but tiny children on shiny computers make for great photo opps
This makes me cringe. Creative brains are needed in the real world, NOT ROBOTS! https://t.co/n8d9A7FvR6
can you spare some change for some art teachers too? My kids had no art until 6th grade.
We have a food pantry that feeds families in need with delivery of food each Friday to their homes. https://t.co/FgP13PJA01
Beyond resources that may be non-consumable, more food for our students in need would be great...really supports the learning.
Ummm, that's a novel concept. Let's wake from that dream now, Kathy! https://t.co/AqHhvhBDBo
Have people that teach make decisions lol
in fairness, the idea is computers and ebooks free up space for other uses. Which is wrong! But not fully #451° F
...and maybe poll the teachers to see what they might need? Maybe? https://t.co/uR2BdRFtOv
Books for classrooms, supplies and resources for teachers.
its a little late by 6th grade, I think. Little kids need art.
Thanks. I live in the upstate, so the evacuees are coming my way. Our district school buses are being used.
Well, I am in a unique situation - I'm a STEM teacher for a district sci center...so more staff and exhibits.
humans do too, but we still put up with them. ;-)
Better late than never! . But yes, should always be present in curriculum. https://t.co/ir8QSIKKL1
its a little late by 6th grade, I think. Little kids need art.
Tech breaks, books don't. Don't need charging, portable, inexpensive, tactile. https://t.co/o2yKj3dKdD
in fairness, the idea is computers and ebooks free up space for other uses. Which is wrong! But not fully #451° F
but of course! Want to join us? We have openings! (And great views)
Good Morning If you're in the NYC area, my wife is in an Opera tomorrow. Great chance to hear awesome music… https://t.co/iwx3R1td5O
Wait, my budget tripled?!? AND I'm head of PD?!? Awesome
Donuts Cathy. More donuts
Budget first, increased PD opportunities for Ts to attend PD of their choice. Increase T salaries, smaller class size
Renovate and update learning spaces, change the purchasing cycle/budget system so it works better, increase budget for field trips
Now, if I were head of PD...is this w a tripled budget or the same? How big is the PD, building or district wide?
Not completely sit and get- break that mindset! Leaders- Ts should be breaking down the door for meaningful PD!
Set inspirational initiatives to kick of meaningful and authentic PD
Easy ... Put some tablets & Chromebooks in every classroom for kids without their own tech to borrow.
https://t.co/ycEwlAjwkH
It's Friday! Good morning ! Your schools budget tripled last night and you get to decide how to spend it! What do you do?
Liking all these tweets. Clearly I missed a good convo this morning (and every morning).
never too late to join in !!!
yea I know it was a bit extreme but I'll never get use to electronic books as opposed to "real " in your hand books
and that's why I don't give multiple choice !!!!!
Good Morning If you're in the NYC area, my wife is in an Opera tomorrow. Great chance to hear awesome music… https://t.co/fQs3PooMXX
Keep your friends informed. We're all thinking about you! https://t.co/oGJFL3oLb1
I'm just west of it. Just some light rain so far. Thanks for checking on us.
Part 2: Continue jumping for joy & involve Ss in similar conversations.
Do your students love comic books? Read this great post! The Gutters by Jordan Kerkhoff https://t.co/szchDkvsgN via
Good Morning If you're in the NYC area, my wife is in an Opera tomorrow. Great chance to hear awesome music… https://t.co/U42adXIZ1B
Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter are the 3 days of the year when Americans watch the least amount of pornography.
Ellen,Charlie Brown pic is adorable. I wish fall were here in its glory.
For 10 years I paired teacher driven PD w back up support from consultants. We grew instr support leaders indistrict.
