Morning! Your Student Empowerment Q: How do Ss rotate leadership roles in YOUR classroom?
Interested in having Ss listen to a podcast during class - do they take notes? How can I make this more than someone else's lecture?
Such an amazing book! I'd recommend Fish in a Tree too!
I'm hoping all of the reading will inspire me to write!
Morning, . I'm a little afraid an unintended consequence of this topic may be the growth of my own stack of postponed reading.
Any suggestions of must read books this summer?
Two excellent choices. To this developing list, I'll add Counting By Sevens by Holly Goldberg Sloan.
I'm hoping to read Wonder this summer. Most Ss read it in school so I want that background to be able to chat with them about it!
awesome!! Thank you so much. I'm excited to get reading
Play Like a Pirate, Shifting the Monkey are on my Kindle bookshelf. Listening to Teach Like a Champion on audio, too.
Hm. What're you in the mood for, Jenna? Answers there can guide us towards potential *musts*.
The follow-up chapters to Wonder are great as well, Julian's in particular gives diff pt of view.
Also reading Go Set a Watchman and City on Fire during May.
for you or your students? I've gotten SO many good suggestions from I listen to is a great place to start
I just read Rules. It's a kid's chapter book, but really shows what it's like to have a sibling with a disability. Very inspiring
Here's to reading widely! Like main character in Sandra Cisneros' short-story, 11, I carry all my (reading) years w/me
YES!! Do it. The world needs more
So many formats, so little time. Kudos to you, omnivorous reader. https://t.co/Cdt7VC1UPE
Play Like a Pirate, Shifting the Monkey are on my Kindle bookshelf. Listening to Teach Like a Champion on audio, too.
Check out The Art of Racing in the Rain. Absolutely loved it!
Books off the top of my head: anything by
What did you love about it?
I manage a laid back, non-teachery book club on FB if anyone is interested in joining. Just let me know and we can connect!
Books re: ALL on Amazon/Kindle too!
The different perspective. Told from pov of a wise-beyond-his-fur dog!
Oh wow, that's unique! I'll definitely have to check it out!
MG title to add to potential reading ladder: Almost Astronauts by Tanya Lee Stone?
Dear PLN - please help get Kate connected - RT and share https://t.co/XApWm4HDQG
Still looking for a school to connect with for types of houses for HTWW grade 2 unit
Like diff't (& harrowing) POVs? Try Neal Shusterman's Challenger Deep. Fictional dive into mental health
Time to read something set in a warm clime? Maybe 1 of the dire digging scenes in Louis Sachar's Holes? :) https://t.co/CyXX4I3Tq0
Seriously, when will it warm up! My classoom is freezing. Didn't take my coat off yesterday!
Aiming for your Achilles' heel: Try Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough, if you haven't yet.
Fan of Gladwell? Try Ariely's Predictably Irrational or Carey's How We Learn. Dubner & Levitt's Freakonomics, too.
Have you tried Kittle's Book Love? Taps similar vein.
Actions will be judged according on their intentions.
Today's Q: Got a stack of postponed reading? What's in it? What are you most eager to try? - https://t.co/nmPr3iQrm8
always a wonderful problem for me. Bought 3 more books last weekend
SO many books in my physical and digital to-read stacks. I'm in the habit of putting ebooks on hold & "suspend hold" until I'm ready
I live near a library. More blessing, than curse.
Hi Mari and Brian.
I can't hold onto a book long enough to want to read it. I just read it
me too! We also have 2 public library systems in San Diego, double the fun!
So Mari needs more hands to hold more books. Or maybe a pet octopus :)
exactly. I'm not sure how the dog or would feel about that
Exactly. The pet octopus can hold her books and decide the World Cup winner
Yeah I'm seeing an Alien type situation re dog vs octopus. Not pleasant
Hey, , who's going to dig us out from under all this reading? Thanks for your contributions. Have a great day!
I have a running list of blog posts that I intend to read. I am looking for ideas for our summer program
Try using a graffiti paper on the middle of each table. Ss write phrases or ideas they heard the make connections
