See thats good that you are planning ahead and setting targets for the future... who knows what will happen in the next week... ha ha... #digitaledchat
#digitaledchat A1: With several new breakthroughs happening in ed. tech. any product or service that allows more creation (solo/collab) to take place in classrooms, more critical thinking to happen and more original work to be produced would 'next gen' imo.
A2: #digitaledchat Dont think ed tech can be tied down to specific areas in ed It is destined to form the application layer (to use a networking metaphor) that sort of holds everything together. Keeping it powerful and hybrid can affect everything from engagement to assessment.
#digitaledchat So much is happening in tech. that before long they will be the ones leading workshops on it. ^_^ And u can sit in the back with a "told ya!" smile on your face.
#digitaledchat A3: By not going by what the companies selling it say. ^_^ Contact the user base. Have demos with them. We do it here all the time. Sick and tired of BS companies promising the moon and not even delivering a damn photo of it.
A4- I think we're getting more savvy about using ed tech that's more cost effective in terms of $ outlay and set up vs what it can deliver. #digitalEDchat.
I had a great conversation with an amazing Principal at a conference about the amount of $$$ on show at the trade hall... some untested... #digitaledchat
They used the old "future focussed education" and "you have to be like the innovative school down the road/keeping up with the Joneses" pressure points #digitalEDchat.
#digitaledchat Yep. And fair enough a lot of it can be trial and error but what we dont want to happen is turn people off from tech in general. Thats a bigger disservice.
A4: #digitaledchat I think it should be "What" should. As a community of learners - adults and kids - should visit the what is working, what isnt, what needs to be explored etc. That discussion will lead to Why, How and of course, Who.
I'd agree. A big part of our Year 9 Digital Thinking & Problem-solving course is focusing on developing teenagers as safe users of technology.#digitalEDchat

I'd agree. Too many principals for example think that BYOD is about devices first and foremost and less about changing the learning power and control. #digitalEDchat

I've been trying to develop a critical evaluation tool for tech implementation at a leadership level. Considering school context, whether it allows rigour in curriculum, & represents need. Be interested in #digitaledchat thoughts
A5 Educating Ss about the effects of digital use e.g. digital media. We need to develop critical thinking along with skills on how to create content #digitaledchat
I've had a go at applying it to Class Dojo, webquests, VR and Blackboard. Hopefully I'm refining it appropriately. Any tech type you think I missed? #digitaledchat
#digitaledchat A5: R & D! Non stop. With new technologies like AI and Machine Learning making the rounds tons of research and dev. needs to happen. no reason why schools and curriculum cant be part of this crowdsourcing in some ways. as active participants there is much to gain!
Also the philosophical challenges of ed tech- how is ed tech affecting pollution, equity, etc? It's a major change in our society and we need to discuss its implications from a range of perspectives not just enjoy the apps #digitalEDchat
A5: Better understanding and modelling of good edtech usage. Freedom and flexibility in its use. Responsibility to students. Use the tech and be responsible in how you use it. Learn โsafeโ consequencesโฆ #digitalEDchat
