A1: My professional learning goals for 2019 are Google Certification lvl 1 and more tech integration into core content. Taking two grad classes on this subject. #4thchat
A1: I always hit a reset button at the first of the year-professional and private life. I give myself a break over what isn't done, and fill up with hope for what can get accomplished! #4thchat
A1: Yes - One goal is create resources for teachers in the area of Digital Citizenship. It needs to be something that is easy to navigate & quick to look at. #4thchat
A2: I do remind the kids to think of the new semester/year as a fresh start. We talk about if they are happy with grades/how things went and what will they keep the same or change. #4thchat
A1: I’m currently still in my undergrad but I usually use the beginning of the year to reflect on what I did successfully and what I want to improve on. #4thchat
A2: I used to have my students set goals throughout the year. Always in January we would revisit. We would have occasional "Class" goals - but mostly individual. #4thchat
Join the movement! We had a Civics Club in Nevada plan activities all week there. Buying local, getting off their phones and connecting in person. Have a game night, go see a movie, text or call a friend or family member. #DaveWeek#4thchat

Our Goals page https://t.co/n6S0TW4Ms5 Set teaching goals each school year
and have your students set their learning goals.
Periodically reflect and revise these goals. My goals: Continue to:
Help busy students, educators, parents and people
Be a constant learner. #4thchat
A3: I think it’s important to set goals as a class and individually. This can help emphasize the team/family aspect of being a class, but also the aspect of being a student and individual. #4thchat

I like the reflection part - helpful to set goals after we reflect on the things that have gone well or where we've been successful! Can bring that into the classroom too! #4thchat
Hello #4thchat! My oldest is visiting w/her hubby and my granddaughter, so I’ve been kinda busy! LOL! Glad to be here tonight. Hope everything is having a great start to the week. #CelebrateMonday
A4 short term is something they can accomplish within a month or less. Long term focuses more on a end result and planning backyard step by step to achieve it. #4thchat short term goals can build into long term.
A3: I like having students share their goals with their classmates (if they feel comfortable). It gives others an idea of the variety of goals that can be set (esp if they are having difficulty trying to think of some). #4thchat Plus if you say it out loud, you often follow thru
Love this! Definitely something i use in my own life and want implement in the classroom. How do students respond to the idea of short term goals as steps to a long term goal? #4thchat
It made so much sense to them! I made an organizer that had the long term goal at the end and three spots for short term goals. It took some practice, but they loved it! I will look for it! #4thchat
I've always tried really hard to give students ownership of their data, where they are, and a clear plan on how to get to where they need to be. Without that vision it's hard to get anywhere. #4thchat

A4: I can imagine short term goals being pieces of a puzzle, when all the pieces come together, we’ll be in a great position to accomplish our long term goals #4thchat
I used to talk to my students about setting goals and thinking about a ladder...smaller goals are the rungs and the long term goal was the top of the ladder. #4thchat (I thought the visual helped or hope it did).
This is great. Can you give an example of 4 short term goals leading to a long term goal? Did you start w/the long term goal and then moved to short term goals to get there? Or was it the other way around? TY 4 sharing! #4thchat

A5: Definitely remind them about growth mindset, and moving toward their goal is important too. We also discuss modifying our goals if needed. #4thchat
A5:I think you have to give them examples in order to see what’s possible. Also using the SMART goal method puts everything within reach for them. #4thchat
We started with a measurable long term goal-like knowing 20 multiplication facts in under one minute. Then we thought of starting with 5, practicing so many minutes a day, etc. If you remind me I will look it up and post! #4thchat

A5: Something I’d want to remind my Ss is that their goals are not set in stone. Goals can be modified or altered. This is reality. Things don’t go perfectly or always how we want, so we can help each other figure out the best goals. #4thchat
Each class works w/a trickster 2 develop a short play around a topic relating 2 a broader school theme. There’s a lot of movement and improv along the way to developing a final piece. In March, grades 4 & 5 will be doing process oriented work. #4thchat

Makes sense. I think having the Ss set a deadline of sorts helps them stay focused. Also, it sounds like once they have the 4 short-term goals, they can think about a broader goal that encompasses all of them. Thank you. #4thchat

Is he going to give us a tutorial on Jamboard? Need to explore that...I thought you needed the actual Jamboard, but told that is not necessary. #4thchat
A5: I might ask students, "How can you track your progress towards that particular goal?" Can it be using a chart with stickers? If using a vision board - they can add slides showing completion. #4thchat
A7 Great question. Create accountability circles that continuously check in with and gain feedback. Also teach others to critique action as well as encourage #4thchat
A5: Using a tool like @Seesaw - students might be able to record/photo/write about how they are progressing towards their goals. In this way it is a record they can look back upon. #4thchat
Being able to measure your goal is so important. If students just say "get better at math," they will never know. If they say answer 20 math facts in under 60 seconds, they can see progress. #4thchat
If you are going to do it with students make sure you are consistent with them. Create time dedicated to goals and resolutions. Don’t skimp. Make it habit. #4thchat
A8: I have learned so much about goal setting through my @ClassroomChamps mentor athletes. They have each taught my students and I different ways to plan and accomplish goals. So thankful for them. #4thchat
A7 For that 2 happen, Ts have 2 designate time 4 kids 2 talk w/each other, share successes & tips. It can’t be in the 5 mins in between classes or transitions. There have 2 be at least 10 -15 mins once during the week to do this work. If it’s imp, we’ll find the time. #4thchat
Thank you @JennRegruth for getting us thinking with your great questions. Thank you everyone for helping us learn different ways to improve our goal setting! #4thchat
Thanks to my comod, @ncarrollDLC for her role as wingman tonight. And to this amazing #4thchat tribe, who keeps me inspired. Thank you all! Missing @plnaugle this evening.
