Q0: Welcome to the #MinecraftEDU Weekly EdChat. Please Introduce yourself, Name, Role, Location, and your favorite conference, convention, or educational gathering and why.
No, cant make it this summer. Hoping to make it next summer for sure. Maybe we will meet at another @minefaire soon. But what great value to be introduced to so much innovative ideas! #MinecraftEDU
A0: Sean in NYC, special educator/STEM coach, I love the #NYCSchoolsTech Summit as it brings together people I’ve come to know well leading innovation in the city-I’m not allowed to go to one’s out of state often #MinecraftEDU
Gonna try to make both happen and maybe a few more. Schedule has been nuts, just go back from #E2 in Singapore and was traveling before that as well. #MinecraftEDU
Welcome Sean! I have not been to that one, but it is awesome when you get to meet people who you work with in close proximity! That must add value to the conference. Technology like #MinecraftEDU is all about people really.

Welcome Rachel! I met so many amazing educators from NZ this past week who knew about the amazing work you are doing with #MinecraftEDU Can't wait to meet you one day!
I’m not sure if it’s just for NYC school teachers, but I think it might be bigger (in 1 day) than the state tech conference-tons of vendors too. #MinecraftEDU
Q1: #E2 is all about celebrating teacher’s hard work and student success. What have been the most innovative and creative uses of Minecraft you have observed for learning and education? #MinecraftEDU
A0: Mark G from NJ. So I just go back from #E2 as an #MIEExpert Representative and with @Edtothemax It was one of the most amazing educational experiences of my life! Incredible learning, connecting and collaborating! #MinecraftEDU
That is what it is all about. Not the tech, but the people, connections and collaborations. That is always the biggest value. And despite the amazing learning, I think we bring that broader perspective back to the classroom as well. #MinecraftEDU
Q1: #E2 is all about celebrating teacher’s hard work and student success. What have been the most innovative and creative uses of Minecraft you have observed for learning and education? #MinecraftEDU
A1: I find most of my students’ creations innovative and not how I picture the task would be created. It is always so interesting how ideas are often portrayed in Minecraft. #MinecraftEDU
John has been an amazing friend and mentor! I cannot wait for his next book to come out. I already pre-ordered it and hoping to have him back on the chat when it comes out! #MinecraftEDU@johnmillerEDU
A1 - I like what @vendi55 is doing out of Canada. Anyone who can make math interesting is a god and his #MinecraftEDU math lessons have saved me time and time again. That's true creativity!
Q1: #E2 is all about celebrating teacher’s hard work and student success. What have been the most innovative and creative uses of Minecraft you have observed for learning and education? #MinecraftEDU
A1: One thing I love seeing is how two kids, that have totally separate projects, can connect together. For example, one Ss was making a house and another was making a mod, and they decided to combine the two projects into something even better! @STEAM_Labs#MinecraftEdu
A1: I met an amazing Coder at #E2 this past week, by the name of Darkhonbek, Dan, from Uzbeckestan, he coded a 5 level mini game with his students in @MSMakeCode incredible stuff, will look for images to share! #MinecraftEDU
#3Dprinting#Minecraft projects is always one of my favorite activities ever. students getting to see and hold their projects is a fantastic feeling! #MinecraftEdu
Q2: At #E2, many educators were enraptured with uses of #Minecraft in the classroom. How do we support those who are new to the Minecraft community, locally and globally? #MinecraftEDU

Nice! I could totally see that with custom textures for blocks. And the blocks could drop special items unique to that house or community! #MinecraftEDU
A2: Connect them to others in the same content area that are doing great things with @PlayCraftLearn & Skype. Help them find their affinity group, build their PLN, invite them to #MinecraftEDU chat.
Q2: At #E2, many educators were enraptured with uses of #Minecraft in the classroom. How do we support those who are new to the Minecraft community, locally and globally? #MinecraftEDU
A2 - School's use a buddy system for rookie teachers pairing them with mentors. Perhaps this would work in our community in some way? Maybe Country reps that operate like @MeenooRami? Maybe bring a friend to #MinecraftEDU meetups? #E2

So this is the amazing thing, he is not really a formal teacher, but a developer! This is why we need more diversity in #EdTech, he is able to add a new perspective! #MinecraftEDU

I think it’s really useful when things on a screen are made tangible in a way that makes them easier to understand-that’s also why I like robots for teaching coding. #MinecraftEdu
Last nights #MinecraftEdu lesson creation stream in @PlayCraftLearn is now available here: https://t.co/ehWmgzvp3Q I do some Reaction Times lesson creation, some exploring of build tool options and work a little bit on the Animal Cell.
I totally agree with that! Though, one of my current side projects is doing the reverse of that. taking objects and putting them in Minecraft #minecraftedu
Great point! I heard a new term at #E2, "phygital" the connection of Physical and Digital, but I like how it has fidget in it. Minecraft offers a nice blend, because although it is enitely digital, really really feel like you're doing physical work. #MinecraftEDU

It’s not really the reverse, since they already have a physical object as the model for understanding. They can look at it/around it and demonstrate their understanding by the quality of their recreation-sounds great #MinecraftEdu
And I have been doing the opposite of that. Taking things on the screen and taking them out and into reality with the #MixedReality Viewer from Win 10. #MinecraftEDU
Q3: #E2 is a global educational exchange of ideas, lessons, and philosophies. How can we work collaboratively with other Minecrafters from around the planet? #MinecraftEDU
A2: share resources, answer questions, give examples of successes and struggles in our classrooms-I guess just generally be nice and supportive #MinecraftEdu
Failure can be such a huge part of learning for people regardless of age, and I see more adults scared to fail then kids. I love when students correct me or teach me a new way to do something, or when we can find a solution to a problem as a group #MinecraftEdu
I like that, just be nice and supportive. I find that when I do my trainings, I try to give at least 2 hours for game play + lesson planning and development. I find this is the best support for teachers. #MinecraftEDU
Works, maybe it just took longer than ususal, because it is two hours! Didnt know youtube allowed such long videos! Haha, more like a feature film. Maybe I will have you nominated! #MinecraftEDU
For sure 100%. It is funny because when I make a mistake or something does not work, I feel embarrassed, but honestly, it probably gives my audience comfort in seeing that mistakes happen and we all make them. It is still a stygma that I need to overcome. #MinecraftEDU

A2, A3: I missed Q2, but I can answer both at once! Communities like the one here on twitter are so great for collaboration and helping educators learn more about using tools like #minecraftedu in their classrooms!
A3 - Every Mentor should have one loaner #MinecraftEDU account to help onboard teachers. After the remote training, password gets changed and on to the next onboarding? A lender account to help facilitate server based training?
A3: Find like minded people. I have been working with my friend across the pond @SimBadd64 (with upcoming projects in the works). This came from similar views of our classrooms and how we want to use @PlayCraftLearn to creat authentic learning experiences. #minecraftedu

A2: As a third grade teacher, I encourage my colleagues to a take risk, truly put the learning/teaching in the hands of our students. Globally I follow our Minecraft Mentors and am always learning. #MinecraftEDU
Q2: At #E2, many educators were enraptured with uses of #Minecraft in the classroom. How do we support those who are new to the Minecraft community, locally and globally? #MinecraftEDU
It's AR with the use of a structure block. You can see where I placed it in this photo. What's cool is I targeted the garden in my palm, so as I moved my palm, the garden followed! #MinecraftEDU
A3: It would be awesome if there was a way to whitelist the orgs in O365, so you could Skype and connect with other classes outside your city. I guess you could make some generic users for that day, but… #MinecraftEdu
Agreed! That would be awesome! Would love to do Skype lessons that way where someone else logs in and we can be in each others' world, skype and collaborate all at once. #MinecraftEDU
Q4: #E2 featured many new creative and innovative technologies. What other apps, tools, or products help support learning activities with Minecraft (Microsoft or any others)? #MinecraftEDU#MinecraftEE
I'm going to add myself as a case study for this. I have no formal training, and all I know about teaching comes from interacting with the community and people like @PBJellyGames@chellymil and @codepoet127#minecraftedu

Mike! Another amazing Minecraft Guru! Welcome! Great to see you in this mornings chat! And you're right, its not like we are going to break #MinecraftEDU, maybe only a few blocks or small structures.
A4 - #Windows10 has a #MixedReality Viewer app native to the software that allows for exported .gbl files from #MinecraftEDU structure blocks to be brought into the real classroom or learning environment immediately on #Surface or laptop devices! Great App!

A4: Apparently I’m the 1st #NYCSchoolsTech teacher to set up using @htcvive using DOE equipment for classes-we also got an @oculus donated -both work only with @MicrosoftEDU - right now the big thing is designing virtual environments often for student safety #MinecraftEDU

A4: The Anvil to LevelDB converter, found here: https://t.co/39JRmKH4zc has been amazing for converting Java world into #MinecraftEDU worlds. Also love #MCEdit and @tinkercad for converting and importing schematics!
Contact @Unity3dEdu for free licenses because with those VR tools you are set for the most powerful creation ever! #Unity3D is epic and has an easy learning curve for grade 6-12. #MinecraftEDU@seanmarnold

I always believed in the philosophy that all adults who interact with children are educators and teachers, formal or informal. The real question is, do you consider yourself an adult? Haha. #MinecraftEDU

Ben is so right! @unity3d is professional grade software that is accessible and amazing to use for game and lesson design. I have seen Immersive Museums where students upload work via @Sketchfab and import into unity for Virtual Gallery walks in Museums! #MinecraftEDU

Thanks. We did some with that, but my students have cognitive challenges and some was beyond them, so that was mostly teacher creation. The students have successfully created spaces using @cospaces_edu though #MinecraftEdu
Q5: #E2 left us with asking the question, “What’s next?” What other opportunities, platforms, events, or forums are available for all learners, where amazing ideas can be shared and improved upon? #MinecraftEDU#MinecraftEE

A5: I believe our students will show us the road to the future. I also think we can challenge each other to push the envelope of what we can do with @PlayCraftLearn#minecraftEDU

A5: I see community events, like @minefaire a great opportunity for educators, families and content creators/developers to come together and share work and ideas! #MinecraftEDU
And while big events are awesome for reaching large audiences. it is also the personal connections that matter. Here I met @HaqueRaihana at #E2 and together we created her first #MinecraftEDU build, a Coat of Arms, "All About Me' representing her interests.
A4: You took almost all the ones I would have listed. #mcreator by @PyloDEV Is a favorite of mine and my students love using it to create mods for Java minecraft! #minecraftedu
Yep! I love Mcreator especialy for building new dimensions. Last time I used it, we had major stability issues. What build are you using it on? 1.12.2? #MinecraftEDU
A5: The best answer I can see is to continue the trend that's going right now! Getting tools like #MinecraftEdu more widely used in schools, and creating these communities naturally will help create an awesome and fun system for students and teachers alike.
One of the most active for me is the #NYCSchoolsTech Facebook group which has events, answers and resources-I think it might be open to non-NYCDOE people #MinecraftEdu
A5 - @iste 2018 in #Chicago is going to be off the hook #MinecraftEDU wise. It has serious potential to surpass #E2 with the number of mentors and enthusiasts gathered in one place for several days. Can't wait! #CHICAGO! https://t.co/XcfYLmGhoJ
