The #michED chat is a grassroots effort dedicated to giving teachers, students, and parents across Michigan a bigger voice in the conversation about education in our state. We welcome all voices through a variety of projects, media, and social networking. We’re trying to address educational issues through apolitical conversation, spreading ideas and stories of success from Michigan classrooms across the state, and helping teachers and students regain the courage to connect and demonstrate that schools in Michigan are creating amazing opportunities for learning. We want the face and voice of education in Michigan to be a mural of shared experiences and positive examples of connected learning.
It's going great! This is my first #michED chat! I'm an education student at U of M, and will be teaching 3rd grade in Novi Community School District next year.
Hi, I'm Theo! I am a part of the #ELMAC20 cohort, and today was our last day of class! There are several other ELMACers on here tonight. We are very happy to finally be done with our program, and we are super excited to be a part of this twitter chat!

Good evening! Rachelle from St. Clair. Spend my days (and some evenings) hanging out in the Shores as part of the @myLSPS team. It's School Improvement and Consolidated Grant season :) #miched
A1: I think my biggest success this year was helping a few students push through when they were quitting on themselves. End of the year and they are now excited and happy to learn again. #miched
A1: My greatest achievement this year was attempting to transform the school improvement process, and actually having people tell me they liked it!!!! #michED
A1: Greatest achievement this year was connecting transformation with school improvement and grant planning. Well, I'm assuming it's going to be accomplished, LOL. But the framework is there! #MichED
A1: AND spreading the maker space love to over thousands of students and teachers with the REMC Classroom Maker project! #MichED#cmakers@REMCAssociation
A1: Getting through year 1 at my new school. Transitioning from a small charter to a large public school district was quite a change, but I was told today during my evaluation meeting that my integration into the building was "seemless." #miched
Besides graduating and getting a wonderful job lined up for next year, I would have to say my 3 weeks of lead teaching in my student teaching internship. It went so well, and my students and I had such a fun 3 weeks and learned so much! #michED
A2: Best moment with students? All moments that transcend learning where Ah-has happen and where students see you as a person not the “teacher” #miched
A2: One of the most difficult transitions to Central Office admin is not having daily contact with Ss & opportunity to develop relationships. But, we have student reps on our school board. They represented the student body so well! Going to miss Paige and Jillian! #mylsps#MichED
#miched Congratulations MI Teachers! My dad is a retired Teacher. I'm running for an open seat in MI-11. My 4th run for Congress on Climate Change. I know teachers get #Climatechange and have summers open soon. Pls message me if you want to volunteer & get students experience!
A2: I have two special Ss that have never had success or confidence in math until this year. Seeing them grow has been fun & rewarding. They are so proud of themselves too! #miched
My biggest achievement this year as an instructional coach was helping a teacher take a risk in her teaching practices to move towards a more student-centered approach. #miched#smallsteps
That is so rewarding! You are a great example of how to contribute to professional learning in our field by hosting teachers in your classroom. #MichED

A2: One of my favs this year. A group of very dedicated Ss this year found their voice. Shared their methods. Challenged me to provide better proof. Loved it. Took my mantra of "no proof by authority" to heart. #miched
Q#2: Our explanatory writing unit's EQ is: what can I learn from different generations? We go to a local senior citizen home & students interview a senior citizen multiple times, write an explanatory essay, and present the info to their families. Best day ever! #miched

#michED A2: helping a student find his gift for writing poetry, and watching him get really excited about it. He would go above and beyond and write poems during his free time and show them to me!
A3: Lots of self directed learning this year. Little bit of MACUL presentation writing (due in July). I spread out other things through the week so I don't burn out on anything. Big Goals: SeeSaw, reading my new Calc book,.... #miched
