This twitter chat stands for "Wins And Losses Ed Chat" and will be a chat where students reflect on the previous week to celebrate victories and reflect on losses to turn them into victories.
Hey, #waledchat! This is 2 weeks in a row! Will @Mummertopia join us?
Jeffery E. Frieden from Inland Southern California, HS ELA Teacher & self-published author of a very brief book on how to teach with the #WritersNotebook: Make Them Process It.
https://t.co/6Kf5VgOvwH
Hey all! Phil from Northern Virginia. I teach 6/7 US History I&II and am the founder of #waledchat. Thank you all for coming! Hoping to see @effortfuleduktr here tonight!
Woo hoo #waledchat! Alicia from NC - lead digital learning & media innovation facilitator at an incredible STEM magnet middle school - super excited to chat about #edbooks!
Hello everyone! I'm Tonya from Richmond, VA. I teach Spanish and work with student leadership groups. Hoping to possibly see new PLN members: @Hell2Teach@MeagDS and @venturafolk
Also our girl @Mrs_Gilchrist of course!
#waledchat
It's #FridayEve and it's 8 PM CST that means it's time for #waledchat ! Jerry Toups aka #JediOfBelieve HS Math Tr fom the Houston, TX area. This will be my last #waledchat for a while as my Old Testament II Bible class starts next Thursday.
Hi everyone, my name is Jiva Jimmons. I am college student and future educator from Orange, CA. I hope to teach HS Biology and Special Education! Excited to join the conversation. #waledchat
Welcome to #waledchat! We'll be getting started in just a few minutes using the standard Q1/A1 format. You may want to open my profile in a different tab so you don't miss a Q. Excited to reflect with you!
A1: #LearnLAP by @PaulSolarz - his message about failure and how important it is for us to teach students that it's a natural part of the learning process made me go "YES!!!" #waledchat
A1a Oh my gosh, @JenJFletcher's Teaching Arguments was a revelation! I knew all the concepts, but this book showed me HOW to teach them!
If you're an #APLang teacher, you MUST get this book. It's immediately useable!
https://t.co/vW2Nuco8lv#waledchat
A1: Gonna give a shout out to @burgessdave who pointed out in #tlap that creativity is not something you are born with. It takes a lot of sweat equity! #waledchat
A1: I have to say that in reading and getting to know Cris Tovani @ctovani personally, I grew faster than I could ever imagine. I created an incredibly successful workshop model social studies with literacy class thanks to her!
#waledchat
A1b @davestuartjr's #These6Things has been THE best #edbook I have read to date.
The big takeaways that have influence my classroom this year: The Five Key Beliefs (student motivation) and earnest and amicable argument through Pop Up Debate.
https://t.co/ALiDqRqbGf#waledchat
A1: Innovators Mindset from @gcouros taught me many things and pushed me further into looking for the positive in everything....
"We need to make the positive so loud that the negative becomes almost impossible to hear."
#waledchat
That's wonderful! The world is so big, and yet so small. We absolutely love living in Japan (we are in our fourth year here). And YESâit's casual dress Friday! đđđ #waledchat
In reply to
@pattersonaubrey, @teacherasleader, @ChouinardJahant, @heARTISTatWORK, @ThirstyBeesNY
A1: Iâve never thought of myself as creative, definitely not crafty! @hopekingteach and @WadeKing7 say that creativity is a muscle. The more you use it, the easier it will be. For me, this is so true! #waledchat
A1: When I first read the @Jonathan_Kozol book Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools I remember what an impression it made on me, helping increase awareness of inequality. It's the kind of book that, nearly 30 years later, still rings true in so many ways.
#waledchat
A1 So I'm still in the process of reading my current book, so I'll back up to what I've finished. Really enjoyed and came away with some new tools from @eduprotocols#waledchat Thank you @_on11 for suggesting it.
A1 - In the book âPower of Usâ by @MatthewXJoseph he writes about self-reflection. This is a huge driver in how we grow and develop as educators and people. #waledchat
A1: @davestuartjr has refined my teaching practice by allowing me to focus on only "six things," but to go super in depth with them. Totally recommend everyone ready everything he writes. #waledchat
A1: Parker Palmerâs book âThe Courageto Teachâ First Ed book I ever read and taught me about the courage to follow your passion and to apply courage to teaching #waledchat
A1: When I first read the @Jonathan_Kozol book Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools I remember what an impression it made on me, helping increase awareness of inequality. It's the kind of book that, nearly 30 years later, still rings true in so many ways.
#waledchat
A1: I cannot possibly do a chat about #edbooks without first acknowledging the book that started it all for me - #tlap by @burgessdave. When I moved into a new role, #LeadLAP by @BethHouf & @burgess_shelley reminded me that I can PIRATE outside of the classroom too! #waledchat
I like âPlay Like a Pirateâ - Quinn Rollinsâ use of Play-Doh & Legos are cool... Lee Cockrellâs âCreating Magicâ I think has a lot to say about how we can better serve colleagues, parents, Ss, & other stakeholders... #waledchat
A1: To be a vaulable, likable, and respected leader (multiplier) you must accept input from others and not diminish their ideas @lizwiseman! #WaledChat
A1: @burgessdave taught me in #tlap that all my ideas are awesome. Even tap dancing on the first day when I learn how to walk again and directing the band and orchestra dressed as a t-rex day 2. I might be back on crutches day 3, but it would be so worth it!!! đđđ #waledchat
@toddwhitaker says in "What Great Ts Do Differently" to make decisions with your best students in mind. I also add to admin: with your best teachers in mind. This doesn't exclude others in my view, rather it elevates all to the expectations of their best selves. #waledchat
#waledchat#tlap by @burgessdave Inspired me to write a book on the impact of my 1st rule #AlwaysBelieve in Yourself on the kids in the communities I have taught. Hopefully one day there will be an #AlwaysBelieve school. It's my goal as an educator to see this vision through.
If we want learners who can thrive in turbulent, complex times, apply thinking to new situations, and change the world, we must reimagine learning. Deep Learning @MichaelFullan1@joannequinn88@joannemceachen#waledchat
A1: Props to @burgessdave for providing a structured way to explain some of the unique things I was doing in my classroom. Getting Ss hooked is important and bringing creativity everyday is what keeps them coming back. #waledchat
A1: Move Your Bus, by Ron Clark. Have high expectations of people and make it possible for them to deliver. Accept that different people perform on different levels. #waledchat
A1: I am in the middle of reading The Book Whisperer by @donalynbooks! I love the ways she inspires, motivates, and challenges her students to read many different books throughout the year while helping them find books that will make them fall in love with reading! #waledchat
A2: I have been applying the workshop model and refining it for over 11 years. Enough so that it is time to write a book about it...it really is about time! #waledchat
A2: Primarily teaching coding, it's been critical that my students understand that they WILL fail - in fact, they HAVE to in order to learn anything! #waledchat
A2 The Five Key Beliefs & Pop-Up Debate.
I had the BEST first days of class ever, and it forever changed how I see my Ss.
https://t.co/R8c0E3Thmx#waledchat
A1: I am in the middle of reading The Book Whisperer by @donalynbooks! I love the ways she inspires, motivates, and challenges her students to read many different books throughout the year while helping them find books that will make them fall in love with reading! #waledchat
Gah, how can I only name one?! If I must, then #KidsDeserveIt by @mradamwelcome& @TechNinjaTod. I read it as I was I making the decision to stop pursuinga leadership position& narrowing my focus back to my Ss - so the message was perfect! #waledchat
A2: Iâve applied the action of being a multiplier by asking for more support versus waiting for it. Making myself more approachable to ideas and feedback. #WaledChat
A2: In every situation or interaction I look for the positive, even when its hard to find. I also stress that innovation is not just connected to technology.
#waledchat
A2: @KalchbrennerELA and @mdeegan122 are reaping the benefits of fostering relationships first. MAP scores are great, and our 7th Grade classes are the smoothest running units. Not coincidental. #waledchat
Have to admit I am not a seasoned reader as of yet, but I did read some of Jennifer Gonzalez's blog, Cult of Pedagogy. She talks about student assessment and single-point rubrics. All the books you folks are reading are now on my list! #waledchat
A2: Being consistent with giving students time to exchange the books in their book boxes. If students are bored with their books, they will lose interest in reading and Daily Five behaviors will rise! #waledchat
A2: The biggest lesson I learned from #tlap & #LeadLAP go hand in hand - Being relentless & knowing that it won't be easy but it'll be worth it. Our jobs as educators are anything BUT easy - but every day impacting Ss & Ts is worth the struggles! #waledchat
A1: I devoured everything by @NancieAtwell when I was in university studying education. She set the tone for me in so many beautiful waysâespecially honoring choice, voice, ownership, and JOY in reading and writing. #waledchat
An old book called taking charge caring discipline that works... helped me see my parenting pitfalls... and we tend to manage classes like we parent #waledchat
So, I understand I am biased in my lens, but the very first sentence of Cognitive Load Theory by Sweller, Ayers, and Kalyuga is pure gold:
"Without knowledge of cognitive processes, instructional design is blind."
#waledchat
A2: I've taken lessons I have done in the past and modified them to bring more relevance to my Ss. I have provided opportunity for Ss to use technology in ways that allow them to explore their thinking and create innovative products to demonstrate learning. #waledchat
A2: You know, I was just thinking itâs time to re-read it! My lesson design and response to discipline issues are both based, in part, on things I read in that book (Power of the Adolescent Brain). #waledchat
A2: I speak out among the students and my colleagues about discriminatory/derogatory remarks or situations. I don't tolerate kids being awful to each other when I'm around. I try to address even minor intimidation. It's not a huge move, but I do what I can in my world. #waledchat
A1. One teacher's words can set a life changing course for a student to take a bold, giant steps towards building a dynamic future.@SeanGaillard#waledchat
I do not grade homework. Students need to change from extrinsic to intrinsic motivation, or at least "delayed" extrinsic as they prepare for long term learning and success, not just getting a "check mark" for daily compliance. The best students are already there. #waledchat
Excited to be lurking on #waledchat & #saskedchat - Class Catalyst is a simple and effective way for teachers and students to improve their emotional competency.
Follow me and let's learn together!
A1 Itâs not an EDU book but @JackCanfieldâs simple formula: E + R = O Sometimes we cant control the event but we can affect the outcome with our response! #waledchat
A2: I've ruthlessly simplified my curriculum and now try to shove as much of the cognitive load onto the Ss as possible while giving them the time and space to struggle, learn, and grow. #waledchat
A2: Constantly reevaluating programs to implement social, emotional and academic development skills. This year bought yoga mats for 30 classrooms! #waledchat
A1 @PrincipalKafele's The Teacher 50 is one I like to open up often, selecting random pages full of short, but HUGE reminders for why I do what I do & who I am doing it for. Bam! #waledchat
A2 E + R = O is in string art, about 5â long across the top of my wall to remind me how I can help make every situation better. It helps my classroom management. Reminds me to take time with students wslecially when they need it. I ask students to take a break or walk. #waledchat
A2: As an IC, I try to remain connected (and empathize) with classroom teachers when making decisions that will impact them. I never want to forget the challenges and joys of being in the classroom! #waledchat
A2: you learn who can be counted on for the big things and who can be counted on for the smaller, but still important things. You find your runner & make the most high-impact positive changes. #waledchat
A2 Students need to have choice to feel they are active participants in their own learning. It doesn't have to be big choices, but it all matters to them, #waledchat
A2) We need to move beyond engagement and into empowerment. I've had students involved in telling me how they want to be graded and we have designed grading rubrics together. #waledchat
A2: 1st time Ss complained abt the way an activity went, I pushed the solution off on them. âI get you donât like the whole activity. Well, weâre doing it again, so how do we fix it.â Ss came up with great solutions! #waledchat
A2: Songs as ss enter room, teach as t- rex one day, declared it was my UnBirthday for awhile. Now I win first place at something every day. Sash and all. We decide what it is I get first place in. Want to transform my room eventually! One big Rube Goldberg machine! #waledchat
@daisychristo 7 myths. Knowledge is fundamental to cognition and has been massively indervalued since around 2002 in favour of non-existent generic skills. #waledchat
A2: The message is so simple & powerful - it's not about us, everything is about the kids! I apply that to every decision I make and everthing I do. #waledchat
A3: I wish there was a book (and I'm sure there is!) that was specifically for STEM Labs - not necessarily makerspaces, because those can be quite drastically different from what we'll have in place next year. #waledchat
A3 I have been thinking, reading, and exploring this: Why it's such a challenge for Ss to pay attention these days.
Student Anxiety + Cognitive Science (how the brain learns & executive function) + teachers born before 1990 don't understand being a teen these days.
#waledchat
A3: I would like a specific book on implementing PBL into middle school history classrooms almost like a roadmap or formula to help me understand it better. #waledchat
A2: I think I've applied that lesson every year more and more and more as time has gone on and I continue to learn. The more we give students choice, voice, and ownership, they more they thrive and soar. #waledchat
A3: I love this question! I wish there was a book for helping students that are hurting inside due to a painful home-life. They want to be a good student, but there is so much pain. #waledchat
A2 So my focus has been on curricular #inquiry#pbl for many
years now, but the last couple of years I try very hard to incorporate service learning and #CivicAction with the #SDGs#waledchat@HeinemannPD authors have guided me from afar (and actually up close too!)
A2) I work to not be holed up in my office, but out reading to classes, on the playground, in the cafeteria, visiting classes, at arrival and dismissal. I need to be where students and teachers are. #waledchat
A2) We need to move beyond engagement and into empowerment. I've had students involved in telling me how they want to be graded and we have designed grading rubrics together. #waledchat
A2: In my conversations with staff we discuss ways to make the content relevant. I reflect daily on small steps we have taken or can take to make school a place of relevance and curiosity for students. #waledchat
A2 - I try to self-reflect every class and before and after the day. Itâs amazing when we take time to analyze if we had a positive or negative impact in kids. Itâs one reason why I started #teachpos#waledchat
A3: Encouraging Ss to boldly take risks. Had a conversation with an 8th Grader today about having a "pioneer spirit" and leaving a legacy worth living with regard to using her hidden skills/talents to demonstrate understanding in her core classes. Empowering talk! #waledchat
A3: How to explain Daily 3 math games to first graders in a way that they will remember and be able to do independently after 1 explanation! Add in a partner and they become so excited that the directions go out the window. Practice, practice, practice! #waledchat
A3: Funny thing is, there is a book for everything. I need a book on incorporating citizenship across all disciplines. Maybe I will have to write that one. #waledchat
A1: in my role as a PD facilitator it is important that I know my people. I need to know what kind of PD should be tailored specifically for them. I have done a deep dive on tons of research and this book has help me put it into practice a little bit better. #waledchat
A3: Generating my own educational philosophy by discussing several areas of education to consider (the hot button topics) & determine how I feel about each one. #waledchat
I wish there was a book for how to affect change against institutional mediocrity. I've been asking recently how to address leaders and programs that use kids for THEIR success rather than the other way around. #waledchat
A2: A colleague & I started a weekly ed chat on collaboration every Wed night #SynergizeEdu As leaders we "preached" innovation & risk-taking but weren't modeling it enough. The weekly chat changed that. It's been awesome #waledchat
A3: I want to see more work done on cooperation between public and private schools in the US... on breaking down barriers. I want to read more about helping kids address emotional issues, no-grade systems, alternative school models, and learning for mastery. #waledchat
A3 Remember when Biff brought that book back from the future? I wish I could see a history of EDU for the next 100 years so I could see our progress and plan efficient next steps! #waledchat
I wish there was a book for how to affect change against institutional mediocrity. I've been asking recently how to address leaders and programs that use kids for THEIR success rather than the other way around. #waledchat
#CivicAction through #inquiry is how you show kids that what we learn in class really does apply out of class and that kids can make a true impact on themselves and others. #waledchat
#waledchat - Ray, K-8 Math Coach, getting in a little late...
A1 - @TeachLikeAChamp is the best book for classroom management. Hands down....
The best lesson in this book is never allowing anything less than 100% of the classes attention.
A3: how to motivate the unmotivated - all of them. Some things just donât work with some people. The easy, status quo road is more convenient - how do you get people to move beyond convenience? Everyone cN choose to be a runner; not everyone will. #waledchat
DO it! You won't regret it. She has been such a trailblazer for literacy instruction and instilling a LOVE of reading and writing in our learners. #waledchat
A3. Awesome moments at my school... I †visiting classrooms, seeing smiling faces and the awesome work are Ts do... try to capture with Tweets đ #waledchat
#waledchat A2
Regarding ego in schools and professional learning and SDGs. How can we continuously apply and experience empathy in our schools? We need to be schools that are not "best IN the world" but "best FOR the world". Same with helping lead the teachSDGs movement in Asia
A1. I canât think of only 1 book! Every @dbc_inc book has changed my philosophy, gave me a different perspective & I have learned so much from these amazing authors & eager to continue the learning journey! @TaraMartinEDU@burgessdave@casas_jimmy@gcouros#waledchat
A3: Steps to getting parents of students with special needs involved in their childsâ education. Iâve exhausted all strategies: phone, text, email, newsletters, and snail mail and I still donât get responses #WaledChat Wouldnât they want to be the most involved? :(
Growing confidence in kids who have been told âyou canâtâ for so long. Like yeah youâre not stupid just because youâre from X city #WaledChat
A3: I haven't com across an area that I can't find a book for yet! Luckily it seems that I find what I need right when I didn't even know I needed it. đđŒ #waledchat
Getting students involved in thinking about assessment + grading demystifies those process for students; these aren't things being done to them, but things they have agency in. I use face-to-face grading + self-reported grades with my students to great effect! #waledchat
A3 Remember when Biff brought that book back from the future? I wish I could see a history of EDU for the next 100 years so I could see our progress and plan efficient next steps! #waledchat
A3) maybe a book on coping with the fact that my high school students are always 15, 16, 17 yrs old. Every year. But I just seem to keep getting older. #waledchat
Setting goals and working toward them! Intrinsic motivation is so powerful! We're working on that using reading goals and it's been amazing to watch the transformation! No participation trophies or ice cream parties here, just that feeling of accomplishment. #waledchat
A2: As a PD facilitator I have learned a lot about presentation style, adult learning theory, and how to integrate PD into practice. Professional development and personality is also the basis of my thesis for my EdD so I live it! #waledchat
A3 Only 1 thing? I wish there was a book that touched how to help students with tier 3 behaviors. Then part 2 of the book would be how to close the humongous achievement gap that was created over the years for them. #waledchat
A3: I want to see more on amplifying inquiry and honoring agency within reading and writing workshops...that's why I'm writing a book about it (and more)! đ #waledchat
I know that I just ask them why they wouldn't want to try their best on something. That has helped me get that question asked less, but still get quality work. #waledchat
A2: I am collecting the best teachers from all the schools I work in, creating love & chaos so others will join us, & taking over the world #oneschoolatatime đđ #waledchat
A3: I wish that the folks @Design39Campus would write a book about their school. I listened to a podcast about their story from @ModernLearners yesterday (and again today) and I would love to know even more details so that I could apply some of their approach. #waledchat
A4 Is there anybody who knows @MarisaEThompson that doesn't want her to write a book!?
C'mon Marisa, sit down and make it happen!
I'll do what I can to help too.
#waledchat
I know what you mean. I think there are books like that out there, one needs to be written that will REALLY cause those who need to read it to change their mindset.
#waledchat
âHow to survive teaching and having 3 kids while on crutches for 17 weeks without feeling like a failure and crying.â đđŹIn that book, there would be chapters about chocolate cake, the power of Twitter chatting, pinkifying and sparklifying everything, and shenanigans.#waledchat
A3: I would really like there to be a book on how to help your children from getting ear infections which causes mom and dad for missing work. that is a working title as well đ#waledchat
A4: I want to read a book by and co-author a book by @Shapiro_WTHS ... I am also really wanting to pursue our idea for a book...me and @MrsAsztalos#waledchat
#waledchat A3 My upcoming book "The Story of Always Believe" ends with a view of how an educator's job will produce JOY. This JOY is priceless. It all begins by loving the kids and making you life about them. Joy is produced when you inspire a student to #AlwaysBelieve
A2 I consider what I bring to my classroom every day. Is my energy & passion going to ignite my Ss? Am I building relationships with my Ss? Sometimes it is hard, but if my kids aren't excited to be in my class, how can I expect them to be excited about the work? #waledchat
A3: I would like to see a book with short, educational success stories. Troubled students that came out on top, found success. Teachers and the ideas they had to help these students. #waledchat
A3: We were learning about 3D figures & I had them create a model of their ideal city with figures they had learned about. I have Ss still tell me they remember their figures because of that lesson! #waledchat
A3: Maneuvering the complicated world of students "dating" and How to explain that is reality people dating go on dates they don't just wave at each other across the room... lol #waledchat
A4: @megan_hacholski. She is a deep well of knowledge and technique in the area of science, boldly inspiring her students to do things that they never dreamed possible. She's living the #scitlap mantra, every single day. @dbc_inc...@burgessdave...just sayin'. #waledchat
I teach humanities (ELA & SS) and I integrate #inquiry as much as I can into what I "have to do" (the curriculum & standards) but I take them farther with Driving Questions and a focus on making a change (instead of a project per se). I can explain more too #waledchat
A1. @PrincipalKafele I read all of his books & the lesson I learned was that the person looking in your mirror makes the biggest difference in a kidâs life. #waledchat
A3. Something that record's our Ss accomplishments, goals and struggles. So they can look back and see how much they have learned, and how far they have grown in areas. #waledchat
A4: I could name so many people. This week I have appreciated what @DennisDill has to say and would definitely read a book written by him. Have enjoyed his honest and very valid assessment of issues in education. #waledchat
A3:Iâm sure there are many books out there about this and I need to find some: List all the different personality types and how to respond to them. #waledchat
#waledchat
A3: I'd love a "book" that is alive and interactive that immediately supports students in how to fact check the flood of information they receive
A4: I want to read a book by and co-author a book by @Shapiro_WTHS ... I am also really wanting to pursue our idea for a book...me and @MrsAsztalos#waledchat
A4: I would love for @hopekingteach and @WadeKing7 to write a book that delves deeper into how they plan and tie in multiple standards into their room transformations. #waledchat
A4: I want to read a book by and co-author a book by @Shapiro_WTHS ... I am also really wanting to pursue our idea for a book...me and @MrsAsztalos#waledchat
A4: I'm always up for new books by any of the @dbc_inc authors! They all have such powerful messages & after talking to many of them, they've got more stories to share! #waledchat
I have two books in mind to write: the tri-cornered hat of great teaching is one (with guess who as the publisher!).
The other: what does a school that prioritizes "happy" and "healthy/well" teachers and students look like? How does it operate? #waledchat
@_on11- I can always tell his chat answers are from the heart. The way he describes his relationships with kids and the convos he has is so inspiring. Sometimes I feel like I make them laugh, but donât know how to help them handle the hard stuff. #waledchat
A4 LOL We could make our own personal books from all the tips and ideas from these chats. You all are awesome and appreciate the knowledge you share. #waledchat
Absolutely! I got a chance to meet him for a minute a few months ago and hear him speak. Inspirational is an understatement. @PrincipalKafele#waledchat
In reply to
@VNixon1988, @PrincipalKafele, @PrincipalKafele
I am currently writing a book about helping students with low academic self-esteem, noticing the causes and effects, dealing with it and supporting the student. If anyone is interested. #waledchat
@MofieldEmily to write a book about questioning (by teachers) and how to get students to ask H.O.T. questions. Including examples of those questions to fit different ELA & Math scenarios. #waledchat
A4: Any of the @dbc_inc authors are more than welcome to write another book! But I would especially love another one by @TaraMartinEDU â€ïž I think @iluveducating might have a book in her too. đ #waledchat
A5: "To Be Continued". It is reflective of who we are as people. We are all a work in progress. Each day we live, each conversation we have is an opportunity for us to keep moving forward, changing lives, inspiring others to be better versions of themselves. #waledchat
A5: If I wrote a book it would be called Belief: The Power Within Us To Make Anything Possible....
Or EdTech Then What? Taking Tech Integration to the Next Level
#waledchat
A5 I am working on a 2nd book. Working title: Make Them Assess It. It will be a how-to for turning over the assessment load from T to my S.
For the title of my 1st book (you can see I have a "Make Them" motif going), it's about learning the entire writing process.
#waledchat
A2. I do not give up on kids no matter their behaviors, lack of wealth, etc. They all have value & I know deep down that I have done everything I could to make them successful without looking rewards/recognition #waledchat
Very cool!
I just had 11 criteria for speech delivery. I held them to all categories, but only assessed three. They had to roll dice to narrow it down.
It's been interesting!
#waledchat
#waledchat
A4: @SuleJacobs
Documenting his challenging work over the next years to enhance professional learning and bring equal literacy opportunities across Nigeria.
https://t.co/ysitPhw4EH
A5: Not sure about the title- but it would be a book on non-traditional professional development! Maybe my dissertation could really turn into a book????? #waledchat
A5: I am writing a book, no one is publishing it but I am writing it. Lifting Up Literacy is the title and I love it already. The author is pretty passionate. #waledchat
A4: @mrronclark_: a book about the feedback depth, breadth, and styles that he requires of his students. Feedback in his Math class encompassed strong presentation AND listening (to the presenter) skills and expectations. #waledchat
A5: If I wrote a book..it would be a combination of being a leader who looks beyond the ânormâ while incorporating LGBTQ+ & Diversity acceptance and eliminating the stigmas. #WaledChat
A3 How to create more time out of nowhere! Interruptions & impositions to instructional time will turn me into a cranky lady! From announcements, activities that require us to let students out early, to kids being too chatty... I feel like there just isn't enough time. #waledchat
Q4: Too many to choose from! I'd love to see @drmguerrero write a book about Dual Language. Well, about any teaching strategies actually. She's a rockstar! #waledchat
A5: If I wrote a book, it's title would be...ENOUGH. #waledchat enough w/comparison, enough w/"I can't", enough is enough, because YOU ARE ENOUGH. Just the way you are!
"Blue Zone Academy" The characteristics of schools with the happiest and healthiest students and teachers. Now if I can get @bluezones and @Danbuettner to buy in........ #waledchat
A5: If I wrote a book..it would be a combination of being a leader who looks beyond the ânormâ while incorporating LGBTQ+ & Diversity acceptance and eliminating the stigmas. #WaledChat
A3: I would love a book on how to incorporate life skills. I want to adequately prepare my kids. I was not. So, I need a book on how to change a tire, personally. I want some integration ideas or some lessons that bring in hands-on work experience.
@Science4UsSays should write a book all about science đ§Ș @ChristineBemis2 should write a quote book, Oh and there are so many others that have soo many extraordinary gifts! Why I meed to keep saving money đ° to pay for these amazing books!đ€Ł #waledchat
A5: The title: "The Potty Procedure: Structures and procedures to make your year that much better."
This was a brain child of @Beyond_the_Desk and I during a previous chat. We would use short stories to help guide teachers through the first weeks of school. #waledchat
