I think every child deserves adults willing to listen, willing to let the child make mistakes & learn from them, & who love them, even when the child may not be at his/her best. #bfc530
Been a few weeks:). A- an adult should role model how to act, be available to listen when needed, set some boundaries as applicable, be trustworthy. #BFC530
Some kids need an adult that just LOVES them no matter what. I try and find out which kids don't have that and I try and be that adult for that kid:)

- what it feels like to be afraid but not have the words to explain about what

My problem isn't really the surface area..they understand this. It's the review calculations using decimals, fractions, etc., that is still a struggle for most. This is the week that they finally get to start using calculators, but that in itself is a learning curve. #bfc530

Your struggles aren't unique, I'm finding fractions is where sooooo many students begin to fall apart. I believe it is because that is where many math rules previously learned will expire. #bfc530

That’s why I kept coming back to being an example - showing them that it’s ok to fail, showing them how to handle success, showing social skills, how to say I’m sorry, when to laugh, how to be kind...so much! #bfc530

Yes, can be very frustrating as the T in the room. I believe students need to be more than just fluent in these facts however, they need to be agile with their number sense. #BFC530

They will definitely appreciate it years later but, will also share hours of jokes about your rules/discipline style, roll eyes quite a bit, complain about you to your wife or anyone with ears, but it’s all worth it😇 My girls are now 23 & 30. They truly get it now😎

No math PD here (except for personal PD 😄). So most (not all) Ts are teaching how they learned when they were in elementary school through memorization and shortcuts. #bfc530
