Coaches, We will be following Q/A format. Make sure to follow @CoachShiffman and @CoachDingus for the questions! Please use the #hogfbchat hashtag in all interaction! RT all questions for Maximum Visibility!
I always go open hand block. Makes it easier for people to come off the combo to a backer and also easier to control the double. Also allows OL to stay hip to hip. #hogfbchat

Don’t be too hard on yourself Coach. Get the kids working on getting better and learn from those older guys. You’ll do fine. Reach out to the people of #hogfbchat if you need anything.
Flipped. We want to transfer the most amount of power possible, more surface area = more power transferred. Why limit that AND risk more injury? Easy to transition to proper solo block from flipper as well. #HogFBChat
Coaches! Lets finish up with the check ins! Question 1 is coming up! Huge shout out to one of the greatest coaches @Scott3Young for the questions tonight! #hogfbchat
Sorry coaches, no #hogfbchat for me tonight...busy hanging w/@mominacube & her crew for dinner. This is our current view. It’s a tough gig but someone has to do it...amirite @Warhawks_oline?
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
Ay I'm just lurking on through... Real positions get talked about on Wednesday at 9pm during #AirRaidChat 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ okay I may just signed a death warrant #hogfbchat
A1: Both, dependent on what we feel works at the moment. We’ve gone our base 10 personnel on GL and we’ve gone SY. Just depends on flow of game and opponent. I trust my 5 can get it done when needed. #HogFBChat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
#HOGFBCHAT to some degree I'd say both. Good to have a short yardage package, but also a small number of regular plays that still work in that limited space...in theory meaning less adjustments and personnel changes by the D

Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1: Go with what's been working. Every now and then we might have a heavy set, but thats it. I think we have a tendency to outcoach ourselves sometimes. K.I.S.S #hogfbchat

Open hand just asks for an injury, be it wrist or shoulder honestly. Asked @OLPerformance when I was at his clinic this same question and he had the same response: Flipper! #HogFBChat

Last year we'd keep the same personnel but change splits. We're a spread team with wide splits, but if we got strong dudes we go "crossbones" and run dive behind our best dudes. When we're weaker than our opponent we have to get crafty. I hate crafty #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
Like to be able to put something different on film in that area every week. But we like to stick to our bread and butter even out of different packages #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1: Last year, we would go into Wildcat and put our 6’0 230 pound D1 mike linebacker in and run ISO up the gut. Had a lot of success. He graduated though so new plan is TBD #hogfbchat
A1: Depends on the situation. If it’s after a big play, tempo play and let’s go. If we’ve moved steadily down to it, we’ve got a GL/SY game plan. So we do both. #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1: I’m a HUGE fan of if it isn’t broke then don’t fix it. So if I got a play that’s been working, then let’s call it.
I like some short yardage packages. My favorite is having a 300+ pound fullback and give that big boy the ball >2 yards in refrigerator style #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1) we like to stick to what’s working (spread based team) but we’re leaning towards installing a heavy set to get some more power moving forward. #hogfbchat
A1: Great question, I would say depending on the opponent. What gives your team the best chance to score? What are the strengths/weaknesses of their goal line/red zone defense? I think having both ready is smart. #hogfbchat
A1) if it’s not broke then don’t try and fix it...I just keep running what has been successful, worst thing we can do as a coach is trying to get cute or overthink things! Keep It Simple Stupid #KISS#hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1) Depends on the year and how deep we are at OL/Y/H. Being primarily zone I’d like to get a heavier personnel package in if possible. WZ/OZ, waggle, and Power are always staples. #hogfbchat
A1: both! If I know my base run plays are getting 3-4 yards a crack I’ll be in the headset yelling to run what’s worked.
Me: Run Counter
OC: bubble is there!
Me: if you run bubble I’m going to punch you.
Me: slugs OC in the arm #hogfbchat#headsetconvos
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1: Both. Depends on the feel of the drive. If we’re rolling and playing with a good tempo I’ll stick with the personnel and schemes. If we’re grinding it out, I will throw in our HEAVY package and other goal line packaged plays we have. #hogfbchat
A1- We keep calling the same play(s) out of different formations. Sometimes out of DT, sometimes TE Twins, sometimes Pro. We give a lot of “eye candy” to run Power or Power Lead most of the time. Being a small school, usually our best 11 are on the field. #hogfbchat
We have a jumbo pckg. We keep it really simple up front (gap blocking) basically power without pull and wedge. We also have a variety of P/A off it #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1 I'm a fan of the short yardage personnel/plays as long as you rep a lot of it in practice. Don't just throw it together and hope it works. Make sure to rep it and get it on film. #HOGFBCHAT
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A1: we always have goal line personnel and package of plays. Just depends what the defense is doing whether we run those or stick with what got us down there. #hogfbchat
A1. We do what we do. Sometimes will have a gl play or two but mostly keep running our system. Believe in our wing-t and running the ball so why change too much on the gl. #hogfbchat
A1: As an I formation team, I keep running what’s working. ISO, power, dive, and trap, Play action pass. If we are in gun, I’d kee running what’s working as well. #hogfbchat
A1) Like to keep what’s working and not tip off with any personnel changes. Big fan of taking 1v1 matchup on the permitter as well (fade, quick slant, etc). #hogfbchat
A1: Both. I think you’d be crazy to go away from what’s been working, we also have GL packages with different personnel (maybe), different formations. Still run our same stuff though, usually just a different look. I’m not adding schemes for just a goal line look. #hogfbchat
A1: We're a spread team this year, so we have a special "Under" package when we get within 3 yards. Tough part was the C-QB exchange in our intrasquad game Friday due to lack of under center snaps all spring.
A1: If we have momentum we want to continue to ride the wave and score/get the first as efficiently as possible. I think you have to have an answer for the situation. #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
Hell yeah. I’ll be making the transition. I haven’t watched many #SKAQing videos lately with how busy I’ve been. Time to get back into it and pick up on his combo/double schemes! #hogfbchat

@CoachOrtizOL, @CoachBurke72, @OLPerformance
A1. Stay within our offense. We will have certain heavy sets we can run to out leverage people but for the most part we are going to do what we do #HOGFBCHAT
A1: Have scoring plays that we work on in all of our personnel groupings. We can use any and all of them. Depends on the matchups up front and outside. #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
I died by that one game my freshman year in college. I refuse to not have a goal line package now. We immediately put in a goal line the next year. But hell, if it works why not?! #hogfbchat
A1: depends on what the defenses tendencies are. If we're better spread out against them, I would stay with it. If we can ground and pound, we're gonna own that identity. #hogfbchat
A1: Most likely going to keep rolling with what’s been working, unless we think there is something special we can use to exploit their goal line D. Film study helps make this decision! #hogfbchat
A1 it kind of depends what looks we get from the defense. Sometimes we stay with what has been working, but sometimes we think outside the box. #hogfbchat
A1: We have a GL/Short yardage package that we like to go to with different personnel packages. Hoping to get a 6th or 7th OL on the field soon! However, we will stay in the same package with tempo if we are moving it effectively. #hogfbchat
A1) Bring the big guys in! If it’s a long drive and we’re tiring out the opposing D-line, we like to bring in the big guys to get some knock back #hogfbchat
A1: Yes
We work our base offense in GL/RZ so that we don't have to slow down or switch up personnel: option, IZ, counter, screens & rubs are base plays. But we'll also put together some special GL/RZ plays. For fun.
#hogfbchat
#HOGFBCHAT Depending on how it has worked and what you're facing, anywhere on the field. Often time you can use it to try and dictate their look and call plays accordingly. And sometimes it's fun to just pummel a team with it
A2) I like using short yardage packages as little as possible so that when we need it in a crucial moment we can come to it. Throwing jumbo’s out there constantly can tip teams into how you might play something later in the game. But that’s just me! #hogfbchat
A1: We stick with our gameplanned run game out of various formations within our base personnel. Throughout the game, or in key situations we use our SY/GL schemes with our advantaged formations that were schemed and practices. Always have an answer play in the attack. #HOGFBCHAT
100% agree! Why fix it if it ain’t broke? Either way we are still going to run power, IZ and our same ole stuff. We may just line up a bit different if we feel we need to add to the box. #hogfbchat
A2: goalline and -40 in. Typically 3rd/4th and short. Weren’t very good with it this year. Very predictable. HC is a pound-it guy and we didn’t have the horses to do it this year. #hogfbchat
A2: Anything less than <2 yards can be option when using a short yardage package. On 2nd down I like to possibly thrown in a play that can hit deep to keep the defense honest. 3rd down is mostly the time when short yardage packages can be used. #hogfbchat
A2) Stay on script 1st thru 3rd until we get into 4-down territory, then 2nd/3rd & Short could be a potential short yardage package opportunity. Goal line-wise anything inside the 5 (or 3, depending on defensive tendencies). #hogfbchat
A2: We mostly use it down in the Redzone, but it’s AWESOME in the middle of the field! Especially when you’ve got 4 downs. I know one guy who isn’t afraid to go tempo out of it! That’s right, 32 pers tempo! #hogfbchat
A2: We will use it anywhere on the field. Have had success in the middle of the field. It just depends on what our guys do well in which personnel grouping we are in. #hogfbchat
A2- Being a I- Formation team, our short yardage package is all the time for us. We strive for 3 yards a play. Anything 4 and 3 or less, we are going for it on anything from the -30 out. #hogfbchat
A2) I’ve opened games up in the short yardage package. For me it’s used when I feel like my guys are more dominant regardless field location. If the Hogs are in control, let them pound #HOGFBCHAT
A2: Wouldn't say we have a "package" per say, but we have plays that will usually net us 3-5 yards. Really depends on what the defense is givving us. We will run trap on our own goaline if it's there. #hogfbchat
A2: any time I have the opportunity to pound the ball im doing it. That’s what makes me an OL Coach.
OC: it’s 3rd and 7, what looks good? Smash and a sluggo?
Me: nope! Counter!
#FISTfootball#hogfbchat#headsetconvos
A1) I like to use my 20P & if that’s not working I’ll use my Wishbone or Flexbone set. If my 20P is working I’ll stick with it and run what I know. #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A2: Wasn't scared to go 22 personnel at any time. And wasn't scared to go tempo with it either when that defense had their tongues hanging out. We had a very extensive package of plays we could run out of that personnel package at Broken Arrow. #hogfbchat
A1: make them prove they can stop it before you abandon it. We did toy around with a jumbo package this year but you find you already put your 11 best on the field #HogFBChat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A2) we are spread speed offense, throw in our short yardage package after a couple of scores/right after halftime just to make other coaching staff have to think and scheme even more with their players. It looks like two different offenses but same plays ran in both #hogfbchat
A2: Our GL package is designed for 10 yards and in but we can and have used it in critical short yardage situations in the middle of the field. #hogfbchat
A2: From what I gathered from our new OC today, he's finishing out the school year at a school 2 and a half hours away so we haven't seen a lot from him this Spring, he likes going for it within 2 anywhere past our 40. He even tried the not punting on JV 1 year #hogfbchat
Q2: we will go to jumbo and short yardage plays whenever we just have to have a few yards....anywhere on the field. We bring in our linebackers as blockers #hogfbchat
A2: Inside the 10. If it’s 3&1 or 4&1 we will utilize it anywhere on the field if we feel it gives us the best chance to get the push for the first. #hogfbchat
A2) depends on the where we are at in the the game. A 2nd and 3 short yardage situation is more important when your in the 4th quarter and down my 2. #HOGFBCHAT
A2: besides the obvious short yardage (2nd/3rd <2), ran our direct snap power/counter package from anywhere. Had tough QB who "inserted" as 2nd FB, so we could get in & out of it w/o changing personnel. Used it several times for the whole drive. #hogfbchat
A2: Anywhere we feel we need it. Gotta find a way to pick up yards, whether your inside your own 20, midfield or inside their 5. Down and distance wise... typically not 1st and 10 or any down where we have 10+ to go. But again, gotta do what you gotta do 🤷🏻♂️ #hogfbchat
We can get in our “heavy” sets whenever we feel like. Extra OL at TE with a F as well with doubles. Makes the run bubble there and if you take one thing away you are giving us another thing. #hogfbchat
Exactly. It’s such a rarity in small school ball, if you have the horses up front, you can be in a lot of games. I’ve been blessed with some horses and a horse in the backfield. #hogfbchat
A2: I’m more & more leaning towards the Briles’ mindset that each play is meant to score. If you ain’t trying to score, why run the play. Don’t really have short yardage plays. Just find the matchup $ go guns blazing! That being said, we have a PSG on almost all plays #hogfbchat
Hopefully the camp I help run in Chicago (@RiseAndFireCamp) has me come out to the Cali sessions. We can all hang out with some beverages. It can happen twice a year! #hogfbchat
In reply to
@CoachOrtizOL, @Warhogs56, @CoachBurke72, @OLPerformance, @SenorBlazer, @RiseAndFireCamp
A1) Bring the big guys in! If it’s a long drive and we’re tiring out the opposing D-line, we like to bring in the big guys to get some knock back #hogfbchat
A2) I like to use it in my opening script. I want to see how teams will line up to the formation. If they line up wrong I’ll come back to it and run it till they stop it. #hogfbchat
#hogfbchat A2 don't really have a short-yardage package. Will use double tite "Hoosier" as we call it anywhere on the field. One play We may be spread for trips the next play we may go to Hoosier.
#hogfbchat Some of both. Allows you easy adjustments to whatever look the defense is giving you. If they try to sit on one of those sets of plays you run the other and so on.
A2: That is a game planning decision on Sunday for us (Ball control, limiting possessions, etc). We prepare field zone conversions by down and distance. We prepare 3 SY runs with what we call Tight personnel for 2 yd. conversions as well as our key SY or 2 point play. #HOGFBCHAT
A3: Depends on the defense, as always. I’m fine with either because the blocking doesn’t change for OL from our base bread and butter zone or power and option stuff/RPO. #HogFBChat
A3: We have RPOs and reads on every run with only a few exceptions. I think you can have an RPO off three yards and a cloud of dust. It just changes the box. The idea is the same. #hogfbchat
A3- we use more power plays. We will use some misdirection especially out of 3 back stack. But we are running power, counter or trap at you. We’ve been looking at some RPO stuff out of our 3 back stack because teams play run so hard on us. #hogfbchat
A3) Coaching from a zone perspective it all depends on the experience and depth of our skill positions. Power and base zone concepts will always be there. We can easily add wrinkles like a Read to Zone, or even Power (Pride or “Power Read”), if our Q/Backs are ready. #hogfbchat
A3: RPO / Spread based plays. We like to put our athletes in space and force the defense to cover the whole field. With guys being removed from the box it makes it easier for us to run the ball. #hogfbchat
A3) We’re a spread team with some outside option, but going to be switching to pistol power next year. Give me all the help you can if you know this stuff. And follow=follow back for football advice! #hogfbchat
A3: I'd like to think we are diverse and present a lot of things for teams to defend. Screens, quicks, play action as well as a read/RPO game. But if we hang out hat on one thing it's power. #hogfbchat
A3: we get both. The 7th ranked team in the nation at the start of last year was in our conference and they’re straight Wing-T (Prairie Ridge HS Crystal Lake, IL). There’s another team that is a mirror image. Every other team was spread #hogfbchat
A3: Both (again). Run a lot of power schemes, love running power read, counter read as well as speed in short yardage situations. As far as RPO stuff goes... sure haha tag it to power or IZ and flip a bubble out there (not the best RPO guy) #hogfbchat
We’ve found it helps us. Teams have to prep for spread week in and week out and the BAM, you have to prep for smash mouth. It’s tough. Line up, get a double and a kick and here we come. It’s awesome! #hogfbchat
A3: had a few instances this last year where we had an RPO tagged to a run play and the QB took the pass option on 3 and short/goal. In the future I'd rather go under center or not give a tag to take the judgment out of the QBs hands. #hogfbchat
A3: our HC/OC does a great job of keeping balanced. He’s excellent at not getting in a rut. He takes what they give us. If we are running power and zone well, we will keep grinding on em. If not, we will option and RPO until we find what’s gonna hurt em. #HOGFBCHAT
A3) Healthy dose of both. Big believer in tryin to score every play but also want to keep my defense fresh. Power plays help tire out 2-way players as well #hogfbchat
A3: There is NOTHING better than 4 yards and a cloud of dust, but we’re not going to run the ball against defense dictated fronts. Read Zone, Power Read, RPO off of both, we want to have the ability to call them all. #hogfbchat
A3: B/c we don't generally have OL w/ enough girth to create clouds of dust, we've generally tended more towards reading defenders w/ Veer, IZ read & counter read. #hogfbchat
A3: A little bit of everything with read option, pullers, additional gaps with TEs and H-backs, misdirection, anything that forces the defense to think or defend differently. We DO NOT add additional blocking schemes. Our OL plays full speed while defense must adjust. #hogfbchat
A few years ago we were up big and called an RPO thinking the Q knew the situation and would just hand it off. We thought wrong and he threw a 70+ yard bomb. Needless to say there was some apologizing going on during the handshake line 🤦♂️ #hogfbchat
A3) towards the Red Zone little more difficult to run traditional RPO’s because of more man coverage. Would like to run more man beater type RPO’s (slants, dynamic routes) attached to downhill run schemes #HogFBChat
A3: i like to use that one play that Marty Schottenheimer ran 20+ times a game. Of coarse I’m talking about power. With that being said if I have some speed on the field I will run what ever I have to run to get the W #hogfbchat
A3: Why not run power often while also running RPO’s. Some of our best plays are RPO’s off of power schemes. Trying to create a downhill/aggressive run game with lateral stretch on the backhalf. #hogfbchat
A) just about every run play can be tagged with an RPO. Also depends on the quarterback and how well he can read. If not so good...stick to power. If he can read then run power with an RPO etc. #hogfbchat
A3: We have been fortunate enough to be able to do both. Won our quarterfinal with speed and some option/RPO then in the wind and rain at semis went to I-bone. If we see a big advantage up front we aren’t afraid to be a bully #hogfbchat
A3: I misread. So I deleted my old one. Lol we are spread. A ton of Zone. But we have counter and power. We’ll pound the ball because @CHSFootball100 offensive line will be the best damn line in the state. #hogfbchat
I mix it in when I’m against my end zone and in the red zone. Red zone usage is obvious, but I also appreciate all the play action opportunities. #ypop#Hogfbchat
A4: We are confident enough in our OL that we really don’t eliminate any of our base runs in a SU situation, and we are confident enough in our soon to be 4 year All-State QB to check us out of a bad look #HogFBChat
A4: we’ll have the majority of our playbook in by week 2. And we will have various plays on the script that have worked well in practice and what we’ve seen in tendencies from film. #hogfbchat
A4) At the JV level we were incredibly limited with play calling ability. Once the transition to varsity is final, I think the biggest change will be the window dressing and different formations that all end up in us running power directly downhill. #hogfbchat
A4: have about 3 “special” plays than can be ran out of a heavy formation but honestly any plan can be used to run inside the goal line. Doesn’t matter what you call, as long as the ball gets across the goal line #hogfbchat
Practice plan and scripts are built around situations. By game day narrow it down to 3 or 4 per situation with shots, and specials sprinkled in bigger catalog for 1st downs etc #hogfbchat
A4: We work GL every day and have about 10 to 15 go-to plays to choose from. We narrow it down through game planning and our own self-scout. #hogfbchat
A4: We can run our entire playbook out of all of the formations. That's why we can move in and out of formations with ease. The formation rarely changes much #hogfbchat
A4: maybe have 2 or 3 special plays for short yardage/GL otherwise we use our bread and butter plays in a 22/12 personnel to create more gaps #hogfbchat
A4 continued) a wise coach at a Glazer clinic recently said that he salivates over a team that has a million different things they try to do because he can guarantee they aren’t great at any one. Gotta be great at everything you do. #hogfbchat
A4: for goal line we will have a few runs and a pass or two. But we can always go regular and run whatever is in our game plan for that week. #HOGFBCHAT
A4 - 2...if we need a TD or First Down. Purple Power Right on set. Power I running Power Lead. If BST guard gets a 1 tech, he cuts instead of pulls and the C gets a LB (we expect blitz). Other is 3 back stack “Grey” option left. Fake power, run option the other way #hogfbchat
A4: Typically carry 3-4 runs and 1-2 passes... Need to reiterate the fact that these are base run plays that are a part of our offense. We’re not drawing up new plays each week. Just adding window dressing and maybe a wrinkle or two. #hogfbchat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A4. Don't come in with a set amount or even certain plays more less what is working that night is what we're gonna run in this situations. Could be belly, could be power, could be buck or waggle. Keep taking what they give us. #hogfbchat
A2:Personally for me, when I've called an offense, I've called my goalie package on the 50 and our own 20. If they have trouble stopping it I'm using it! #hogfbchat
A3: Being a multiple Wing-T team we use a series approach to everything. Our plan starts with a Gap schemed run (Buck, Power, Iso, etc.) and we have answers to our keyed defenders on the play (Traps, Options, Counters, Boots, etc.) For us the answer is in conflict! #hogfbchat
A4: We’re going to run our stuff. 5 run schemes (max), 3 pass pros. We will line up and run those things in (possibly) 20+ formations. Big believer in formationing the defense. Not adding and changing schemes each week to attack the defense. #hogfbchat
A4: being honest, probably too many (that we haven't sold out to) and too few (that we haven't schemed to exploit a weakness from watching film.) #hogfbchat
And that's a wrap for the fastest hour on Twitter! Thank you Coaches for participating tonight in the #hogfbchat and special thanks to @Scott3Young for submitting a great set of questions! #hogfbchat#AllGasNoBrakes#GoGo
We have four run plays. Now we tag the plays for RPO, or different reads or to block with our H back, but our oline Just has to know 4 run plays all season. #hogfbchat
A4) I can run every play out of every formation I have. Stick, Spot, & Sail. I will run them to death till you stop it. I stick with the basic Inside Zone & Stretch & of course power and counter. #hogfbchat
A4: 3 to 4 Personnel and Formation based runs. 2 passes out of the same thought processes. One outflanking formation. One "2 pt" absolute got to have it play. #HOGFBCHAT
Please remember to follow your fellow coaches for weekly chats and collaborations. Can't beat this business, best there is! And OLine guys are the best in that business! #hogfbchat
A1: By goalline I’m assuming 5 and in. I prefer to have a package planned for this situation. The defense will change their approach/personnel so I feel we better have a plan to do so too. It will be the same plays but with the appropriate personnel.

Can some of you DM me clips of players finishing blocks and playing physical? This is something i really want to emphasis this year and i feel like my guys would benefit from seeing what it means to play physical. Thanks in advance #hogfbchat
If anybody out there has questions or topics they would like addressed on the chat, please do not hesitate to DM myself or @CoachDingus with those ideas. We would love to get them on the #hogfbchat

A4: 3 or 4 planned PAP’s that we call situationally when we felt we had established the base plays where we could take advantage for a big gain, 1st down or score #hogfbchat
A1) also have played with the idea of changing stance/split some when in certain GL/SY situations. Tighter splits, heavier weight on hand/4 pt stance, fire off the ball with flatter back in more of an “old school” style to get initial push #HogFBChat
Q1: In Goal line/Short Yardage do you typically... A) Keep calling what has been working with same personnel or B) have a GL/SY personnel with specific plays? #hogfbchat
A2: I hate the answer “it depends”. If the D has shown a commitment to put 8/9 in the box we must do the same in an open field SY sit. My HC would shit a brick if I called a pass on 3&1 or less so if I’m going to run it, I want to have the #’s to get a hat on a hat.

#hogfbchat A3 Power. When the game is on the line or we're ahead... throw the RPOs out with the bathwater. I don't know if we have a luxury or what, but running power, counter, stretch, and their PAPs do the trick. Honestly, rpos have proven to be a novelty for us lately
A3: Our offensive identity is to play nasty, brutish, and physical football. Therefore I propose on any and all short yardage situations not named 2&1, we pound the #punchf out of the D and make them man up and beat our ass.

A4: In a SY package.? 4-5. How many of these sits will you realistically see? They should all build off of 1 or 2 main concepts and should ONLY be called as a response to defensive stimuli ASSUMING they were able to stop the main concept. If not, run the MF’er again.

A1 - some of both. There's a specific GL/short yardage section on the call sheet. But you also want to dance with who brung ya too. As a wing-t team, what we run in the field translates well on the GL also. #hogfbchat
