I believe you prepare for as many situations as you can, with respect to how often they occur each week. You don't want to guess

A1: We use our athletic period 1 day to work scoring in the red zone, D&D scenarios, 2 min, and 4 min offense

CODY_GARDNER
Nov 2 @ 9:10 PM EDT
A1)During 7v7, I have D&D as part of the script, kids should be able to make our 3rd & long and 3rd & shirt calls.

A1) D, we work "sticks" and red zone coverage, can't be beat deep from the 5.

Q2: How does your philosophy for 1st down plays differ from 3rd and medium (4-6 yards)?
#txhsfbchat

Nov 2 @ 9:17 PM EDT
A3: I think you can have similar plays to run, but on any 3rd down the mindset is different than on 1st down
#txhsfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
Nov 2 @ 9:17 PM EDT
A1) Not much changes, may be a little more aggressive on 1st. And that's on both sides of the ball. Unless there is a tendency

Nov 2 @ 9:25 PM EDT
A3: I want to pick up yards to put myself in a workable 4th down situation
#txhsfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
Nov 2 @ 9:25 PM EDT
A3) Chuck it, sprint out, see if we can get something deep on sideline. Got 2 plays make sure Q gets that. D man2, flat align

CoachJoshHadden
Nov 2 @ 9:25 PM EDT
#txhsfbchat
A2: More aggressive and open play book. 3rd, I'm looking for a go-to or variation to get the yards needed
CoachJoshHadden
Nov 2 @ 9:27 PM EDT
#txhsfbchat
A3: Looking to make 4th down manageable. Screen, hitch on 3rd looking for 12-15. Leaves options for 4th and 10.

Q4: How do you work your 2 minute drill?
#txhsfbchat
CoachMHochard
Nov 2 @ 9:29 PM EDT
A3 we try to cut yardage in half for a manageable 4th. If not we punt & trust the D. Field position/TO in our favor

A3, cont: If we can break an open field tackle or a 1v1 hitch, all the better.

3rd down you have the mindset to convert...extend the routes last the chains and things like that

A4) do what you have the most confidence in, 1st is huge, got get something. Hard part is Coverage will change, can be good.

Nov 2 @ 9:33 PM EDT
A4: 2 min drill is our time to go good on good...our O vs our D...raise the competition and go at each other
#txhsfbchat
CoachJoshHadden
Nov 2 @ 9:33 PM EDT
#txhsfbchat
A4: Minimize personnel, call 2-3 plays at a time, kids know to adjust formation or play numbering according to hashes/middle.

Q5: When you work GL do you work against a scout or good on good?

A4: Everywhere I've been ran 2-minute vs. Air

a4: we work every week-randomly, usually 2x on 2 different days-whenever HC wants to throw it in (no1 else knows when)
CODY_GARDNER
Nov 2 @ 9:37 PM EDT
A5) 1's vs best available
#TXHSFBCHAT

A5: Scout, maybe some best plugged in based on personnel in formation
CODY_GARDNER

Love red zone/goal line. Game changes, things get compressed, pressure busts pipes.

a5: everything we do in team is best on best, we only work 7on7 with no concern of who is in (Frosh/jv/varsity) just compete

Nov 2 @ 9:41 PM EDT
A5: We use a scout...see how they line up and run our small package of short yardage plays against it twice a week
#txhsfbchat
coachemup17
Nov 2 @ 9:41 PM EDT
A4. People may think we are crazy, but work 2 min scenarios during kick the field vs air. Over last 3 years about 80% score rate
#txhsfbchat
coachemup17

A5. We work against as good on good as we can with our numbers.

#txhsfbchat
coachfisher_rp

Nov 2 @ 9:47 PM EDT
A6: We don't mix it in a lot, but we will go straight to punt if our offense doesn't convert during our 4 min offense time
#txhsfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
Nov 2 @ 9:47 PM EDT
A6) haven't really besides obviously onside & punt block

CoachJNicholas
Nov 2 @ 9:48 PM EDT
2 min. Drill vs air and 2nds. High intensity. Defensive coaches yelling. Play clock being yelled out. Hectic

A7 sounds silly, but we always practice victory knee

A7) In the past, delayed safety with punt, Hail Mary with trick play session

Nov 2 @ 9:53 PM EDT
A7: We do practice taking a knee; lining up, protection, & when to give the ball to the ref. We don't practice a last gasp play
