What up #122edchat
Melissa, 7th Grade Science from NY excited to be here, although I do have some FOMO not being at #FlipgridLIVE with all the cool kids.
Hi! Iβm Tracy Flood. Happy to be back in the USA after a beautiful trip to Ireland. Iβm the Principal of @Simmonsknights1 near Chicago. Iβd love to see @afortiermath her tonight. #122edchat
Hi all!! I'm Janice, Instructional Coach from Texas. It's been to weeks of back to school craziness and last minute family vacation. I'm so happy to be back to chat with all of you! #122edchat
A1 I spent the first year trying to be someone I wasn't. I didn't laugh or smile or have fun because I wasn't
"supposed to". Wish I could have a do over with those kids. #122edchat
A1- I wish I would have known how much all of those little people were going to mean to me. I always cried at the end of the year when it was time to send them off to the next grade. #122edchat
A1) Not a teacher but I really wish I had known the impact you can have in EDU and how to focus myself toward goals of being a better educator #122edchat
Q1: I wish I would have realized I have a voice for myself too. I have and will always advocate for my students, just started doing that for myself. #122edchat
A1: that quiet did not mean good βdiscipleβ that relationships are more important than rules, and to get away from the front of the room already!!!! #122edchat
A1: I wish that I would have documented my first day/week/year of teaching... A blog, journal, daily videos, etc. Something to learn and grow from.
#122edchat
A1: Teaching is a journey. You're not going to master it in your first year. It's okay to be overwhelmed. It's okay to ask for help. Take things one day at a time. All the hard work is going to be worth it. Promise. #122edchat#Culturize
A1: well that was 23 years ago but I'd say that practice makes perfect and we grow and learn more every day. Just take time to reflect and always build relationships w/Ss #122edchat
A1 - Itβs 29 years later. I wish Iβd have known the importance of building positivity into every class. We all have that in us, but getting it out to kids is huge. #teachpos#122edchat
A1 - Itβs 29 years later. I wish Iβd have known the importance of building positivity into every class. We all have that in us, but getting it out to kids is huge. #teachpos#122edchat
A1: My life changed when I was introduced to unit planning. I wish I could have seen the benefit of advanced planning AND been equipped with the tools to do it from day 1. #122edchat
A1 As a teacher I learned quickly that life experiences better prepared me for the job than a textbook. Itβs important to use your past to help Ss see their future. #122edchat
Just one reason I love being a SPED T, I get my kiddos for years. However that can make it pretty hard to say goodbye when they move onto middle school. They are our kids! #122edchat
A1 As a teacher I learned quickly that life experiences better prepared me for the job than a textbook. Itβs important to use your past to help Ss see their future. #122edchat
A1: Somebody should have told me to tuck my shirt in and that blue leather shoes maybe are cool for the club, but not for school!
Year 2 was better :)
#122edchat
A1: That you donβt have to do what everyone else is doing. What you DO have to do, is whatever is right for your students. Itβs okay to be different and not follow everyone else. #122edchat
A1: As much as people tell you that the only constant in teaching is change, it doesn't sink in until TONS of changes come down the pike your first week at your new school. I wish I had been a little more confident in myself back then. I took too long to trust myself #122edchat
A1: That it's ok to NOT be perfect. We are all human and make mistakes. Also, to share those mistakes and show the kids that we make them too. #122edchat
A1: That you donβt have to do what everyone else is doing. What you DO have to do, is whatever is right for your students. Itβs okay to be different and not follow everyone else. #122edchat
A1~ wish I had memorialized my glows and grows during that first year so I could see how far Iβve come and really embraced my growth in serving others #122edchat
A1: That everything doesn't always have to be perfect - things are going to happen & not go as planned & sometimes those end up being the best lessons. #122edchat
#122edchat - A1 - My first day of teaching was pretty tough. Because I was fast tracked through an alternate certification program, my first day was the first time that I had been in front of a whole class of students. I wish I would have known how unprepared I was!
A1b - Part 2 would be not being afraid to chart my own course. Too often we allow others to shape our instruction. There are some great educators to follow, often times we are them but donβt realize it. #122edchat
A1: that quiet did not mean good βdiscipleβ that relationships are more important than rules, and to get away from the front of the room already!!!! #122edchat
A1. Learning that just being myself, and going around to each S building relationships and spend ing 1:1 time working with each S was perfectly fine. I wasn't like some of the others who just sat in a chair and ignored their Ss. #122edchat
A2: I think success for me is in the measure of T's and S's not only using the tech I suggest, but actually talking about it and wanting to do it more #122edchat
A1. Definitely that I do not need to grade everything and that feedback over powers a letter grade. I wish I could go back and not grade all of that homework (practice). Ss needed the chance to practice the skills we learned. I also wish my tests werenβt 25 Qs long. #122EdChat
A2: Taking a cue from Rent, I measure daily success in smiles and laughter from my students - the amount of love that is shared in our time together. They are what matter most. #122edchat
A1-Man 21 years later I wish I had known everyday is a new day, donβt sweat the small stuff, and treat students how youβd want your own children treated!!#122edchat
A2- If the staff & admins I work with feel supported, then I feel like our department is successful. When kids recognize me from visiting, I feel even more excited because I donβt see them on a daily basis. #122edchat
A2: Did I do everything possible to meet the needs of our kidsβwas I patient, understandingβdid I go the extra mile? When I can answer yes, then itβs been a pretty successful day. #122edchat
A2 After each day, I have a reflective session in which I review what worked and what didn't. I measure my success in student engagement and energy! If that was there, my students learned. #122edchat
A2: As a learning support T it's hard sometimes, but I keep a ton of data....and have a ton of check off to-do lists that help keep me moving forward.
#122edchat
A2: By the feelings of not only my students but of me too! You can tell if a lesson is successful by the mood/actions of the room... Am I just facilitating learning? Is there excitement and engagement? Are they progressing and growing? #122edchat
A2: I try to not use one specific measure to define my daily success. Sometimes it something as simple as getting to the copy machine without jamming it or the success of a new idea implemented in my classroom. #122edchat#Culturize
A2: Did I make someone smile? Did I make someone cry? Did I make someone laugh? Did I make someone think? Is someone living differently after spending time with me today? If I can hit a few of these marks, it is a good day. #culturize with #122edchat
A2: When I can look back at the end of the day and say, look at what all has been done! How many people have I helped? How many people have smiled? #122edchat
A2 Different ways. Sometimes its ado.ething a kid, colleague or admin says; some connection, sometimes crossi g off my to-dos, sometimes shutting my door knowing everything is ready for the next day. #122edchat
A2: Taking a cue from Rent, I measure daily success in smiles and laughter from my students - the amount of love that is shared in our time together. They are what matter most. #122edchat
#122edchat - A2 - I measure success by student mastery. I also measure success by having students shed their anxieties about math and learn how to work hard and overcome their mistakes.
A2: When I can look back at the end of the day and say, look at what all has been done! How many people have I helped? How many people have smiled? #122edchat
Also went through an alt cert program. The first day, all I was thinking was "please don't let them observe me today because I just got observed every day for 6 weeks in training" lol #122edchat
A1:it depends on my goal. Success can mean a lot of things. And itβs not even whether I reached my goal because sometimes I have a goal and by the end, Iβm glad I didnβt achieve my goal because I found something more beautiful! #122edchat
A2 think Ts can measure in engagement and ability for Ss to use voice & choice. Allow for personalization and see them soar. No 2 Ss learn same so measurement isn't necessarily going to be the same. #122edchat
A2: I measure success by asking βdid they learn something today, do they know that I really care about them, did I learn something?β If I can say yes to all three it has been a great day! #122edchat
A1:it depends on my goal. Success can mean a lot of things. And itβs not even whether I reached my goal because sometimes I have a goal and by the end, Iβm glad I didnβt achieve my goal because I found something more beautiful! #122edchat
#122edchat A2: When the bell rings because class is over, how many students are upset that the bell was ringing. With reading, seeing students get into a book and get frustrated to be left with a cliff-hanger.
A1 #122edchat I wish to have been easier on myself. Known that βRome wasnβt built in a day.β Itβs a fine line between riding the passion wave & the fire of a new teacher & having too much ambition & too high of goals when focusing on learning the lay of the land is most helpful
A2 think Ts can measure in engagement and ability for Ss to use voice & choice. Allow for personalization and see them soar. No 2 Ss learn same so measurement isn't necessarily going to be the same. #122edchat
A2: my most successful days/lessons were those in which the students were completely engaged - excited even! Yet the "fun" wasn't frivolous, they learned so much. I had the most success w/lessons incorporating #globalcollaboration via @Flipgrid so hoping to do more #122edchat
A2: Through reflection, I am usually able to acknowledge the positives of the day, but you have to filter out the βstuffβ. There will always be βstuffβ. #122edchat
A1:it depends on my goal. Success can mean a lot of things. And itβs not even whether I reached my goal because sometimes I have a goal and by the end, Iβm glad I didnβt achieve my goal because I found something more beautiful! #122edchat
A2~the kindness weβve shown each other, the patience exhibited, evidence of top notch effort & support given and shown for the betterment of others, efforts that serve others & make a difference in self & others #122edchat
A2 I reflect daily and have learned to constantly review the process in order to get a better product. We must continue to redefine our practice to get the best out of students! #122edchat
A2 - List below
* how many kids I greet at the door
* how many are smiling when they enter and leave
* if they actually laugh during class
* if they talk more than me
* finally, how many ask each other how their day is going? #122edchat
A2-Did someone learn something from me today? Did kids feel safe to express themselves in my class? Did we laugh and have a great time? Relationships matter #1 in my book!!#122edchat
A2 #122EdChat I like reflecting on my day & finding that one βreachable momentβ or the clear visual of a moment I had the whole class fully engaged. If I can find that in my day then I know I made an impact. π
A2. I like to measure success by the amount of engagement studentsβ have. Hearing their questions and seeing their faces light up are just a few of my favorite things. #122edchat
A2 - List below

* how many are smiling when they enter and leave
* if they actually laugh during class
* if they talk more than me
* finally, how many ask each other how their day is going? #122edchat
A2.Reflecting: Did my Ss learn something from the lesson I taught them today? How were they able to demonstrate and apply their knowledge through problem solving? The Ss voices? Choices? What can be changed?#122edchat

A3: I would change my inclination to doubt myself and my abilities. It absolutely hinders how effectively Iβm able to lead others, though a βfake it βtil you make itβ mindset has helped! #122edchat
A3: I am beginning a new journey this year, so my thing that I would change about myself is my experience in the field of coaching. BUT, I am passionate about sharing educational technology⦠I think I need some time to better answer this question! haha. #122edchat
A2: When goals have been met & learning has occurred. This learning could be academic, social or emotional. Success is not only measured by letters or numbers. . .success is measured when growth is made that helps us to be better than we were before #122edchat
A3 As I mature and grow as an educator, I think about this every day. I try to be positive and be a role model for others to want to help more and be more involved. It is very hard some times, but when you see the change it is worth it #122edchat
A3: Take a few more risks. You won't know how something is going to work out if you don't try it. This way I can promote it to others, like I did with @Desmos last year! #122edchat#Culturize
A3: See A1. I tend to drive people a little harder than they might appreciate. I see their long range value and want to help them live it out in fullness. I don't want it to be said that "__________ had potential." #culturize with #122edchat
A3: I would better account for what I do and have done to have a wealth documented experiences, resources, etc. to share. I would go to these often and model growth.
#122edchat
A3 - I think sometimes Iβm too persistent. It hurts me when I see students unhappy in school. While thatβs a good quality, sometimes itβs a battle to keep changing things that you canβt control. #122edchat
#122edchat - A3 - I need to be open up my classroom and have more teachers observe me and I need to observe more teachers. I need to build trusting relationships with others so that we can do best for the students that we serve.
A3: Stop spreading myself so thin. I get so interested in things happening and I want to be involved, but I think I need to take a step or two back this year so that other Ts can also feel empowered. :) #122edchat
A2: Daily success is making a connection with my Ss, getting them to smile, share something of their life, let then know they are seen and cared about. I'm there for them. #122edchat
A2: on the smiles, lightbulbs, or extension questions students leave with. Or how disappointed they are to clean up to switch classes! #122edchat#culturize
A3 I think I am trying to embody this now. I blog, tweet and talk about what I am doing. I take a lot of PD on my own to have those convos with Ts who are receptive. #122edchat
A3: Nothing. Totally truthful I wouldnβt. I am sure there are things I could change but I like me I might not always get as many bees but... lol #122edchat
A3: See A1. I tend to drive people a little harder than they might appreciate. I see their long range value and want to help them live it out in fullness. I don't want it to be said that "__________ had potential." #culturize with #122edchat
A3: I need to not take things so personally. I need to better balance school time and me time so I am 110% when with my Ss. I need to keep learning and growing, which I feel I've done a lot thanks to my PLN! #122edchat#culturize
A3: I would change how much I tend to doubt myself & my ideas - I usually go the route of "no one would find that interesting, it isn't worth sharing." Even if I only reach 1 person - it's all worth sharing. #122edchat
I'm actually looking forward to only having to focus on my new position going into this school year. I loved being involved in so many extra activities and committees, but I can't wait to see what I can do with a little extra time! #122edchat
A3. I wish I had more confidence to be outspoken to share my ideas or insights with others. (Especially with teachers that I will be observing and/or aiding alongside.) #122edchat
A3: Working on being more self confident and not allowing βawfulizersβ to keep us from moving forward. Iβve been more positive this past year and now Iβm working on being more determined- determined to be an βawesomizerβ #122edchat
Literally just told a fellow teacher this today. Nobody ever "arrives" as a teacher. Everything changes, especially studentsm...so our practice is always changing. We just need to keep learning and keep getting better! #122edchat
Have you read any books on coaching? I only ask b/c I'm reading a book on coaching students with executive functioning deficits and it's really helping me tweak my approach to working with kids
#122edchat
A3 I need to slow down. Itβs easier said than done for me. Itβs important that we remind each other to find a good balance between school and life! #122edchat
A4: As Iβll be starting a new position in a new district, I canβt really answer this yet! I do know that I want to continue changing my approach in the classroom, allowing more and more student takeover. #122edchat
Literally just told a fellow teacher this today. Nobody ever "arrives" as a teacher. Everything changes, especially studentsm...so our practice is always changing. We just need to keep learning and keep getting better! #122edchat
A2: Goals being accomplished, relationships being built &/or fostered, the number of smiles given & returned, the number of check-inβs with staff & students, staff feeling supported, as many classrooms visited as positive, etc. #122edchat
#122edchat a1 When we talk student voice we do have a tendency to jump to the big ticket items, like debate or pbl but even in circle chats, if ss set the parameters, they have voice. It's building up the empowerment, brain gym style. #MakeItReal
A4: I like that our district is working towards having more communication between the schools and our community in which we serve! I think when we all come together, we are growing to benefit the futures of our Ss. I am working on helping with utilizing our resources. #122edchat
A4- Iβd like to think Iβm pretty responsive to staffsβ needs. To get better? In my current role, Iβd like keep getting better at building teacher and staff capacity to inspire and lead others. #122edchat
A4: I love the culture of our middle school and the take-risks for what's best for kids approach with a growth mindset. If I could, I'd spread this to every building in our district.
#122edchat
A4.1: We are a passionate bunch of educators who desire to give our students the very best. We treat them like they are OUR OWN children. #culturize with #122edchat
A4: Love my classroom. It's bright & colorful.. definitely has a positive learning atmosphere. I think the same goes for our school.. We have an awesome collaboration space for Ss.. now if only the classrooms could have some flexible seating to match it :) #122edchat#culturize
A3: Figure out what it is about me that makes me come across as intemidating. I have a resting "witch" face so I try to smile more, but there is also something about the vibe I put off sometimes, until people really get to know me. I need to work on changing that. #122edchat
A4: I love the people I work with. They really are like a second family to me. Been working toward a pretty big change at school that I just finished working on last week, so not ready to think about the next one yet lol. #122edchat
A4: I love the innovation and collaborative spirit. I wish there was more time for it during the day and would love to see changes to make that happen. #122edchat
A4 - From the class piece, the room is too small, but Iβm fixing the seating to make it totally open and free moving. In the school, there isnβt anything. Itβs an amazing place. Very lucky in every way. #122edchat
A3 I would change how I get overwhelmed w/my "to do" list. I believe my Ss should see Ts human side but outside of classroom can really wear me down. Found ways last yr to improve, but need to start yr off stronger #122edchat
A3- I have to remind myself constantly to be patient and recognize there is only so much time to accomplish a vision. It can be hard, but there are only so many minutes in a day! #122edchat
A4.2: I would love to see more unity across the building. We are unified within our teams, but each team is a different entity. One common vision, one common goal amplified throughout the building would be helpful. #culturize with #122edchat
#122edchat - A4 - I like that I work with a lot of dedicated people who want to be the best teachers for their students. I would like for our district to shift to a growth mindset paradigm in math and create confident learners who love math, not just do it because they were told.
A3. When I come up with multiple projects/experiments, and I think they won't like this one, and then I tell the Ss about it. Then they usually want to do that proj.! Have faith in your creativity! #122edchat
A4: I have 4 schools to deal with but IN Elem I like the bonding and would like to remove the fear of new. In MS I like the excitement and would like to change the view of DigCit. In HS I love the determination and would like to break old ways #122edchat
A4 I love the freedom to be the Teachers that we choose to be. There exists some autonomy... I would change the mindset a bit. We ALL need to have a positive mindset towards kids. #122edchat
A4: I love how I've been encouraged to grow my PLN, to share my story on Twitter, and to bring magic, excitement, and #globalcollaboration into my classroom. If I could change anything it would be our district's laser focus on testing and rather focus on Ss as people #122edchat
#122edchat - A4 - I like that I work with a lot of dedicated people who want to be the best teachers for their students. I would like for our district to shift to a growth mindset paradigm in math and create confident learners who love math, not just do it because they were told.
A4: I love that my school is filled with amazing mentors that have shared so much knowledge with me. I love that my school actively teaches kindness and good character traits. I love how positive educators are, even in difficult circumstances. I β₯οΈ education! #122edchat
#122edchat A4: What is the best: constantly thinking outside of the box and trying to come up with new and interesting projects that still meet the needs of my students. What to change: The morale in the building. It's improving, but we can always do more.
A4: I'm proud that I help the Ss learn #SelfDetermination.
One goal year is to do more goal monitoring in order to help Ss have an intrinsic push to do better.
#122edchat
A3- Reflection is a natural practice. We engage in it daily, though itβs not always intentional or in depth. I need to slow myself down, reflect deeply on my day, determine how I can make the next day better, & model/share this w/Ts & Ss. #122edchat
A4 #122EdChat I LOVE our staff & our collective amount of passion. We all work together to reach the same outcomes! Iβd change the building by adding painted/stenciled positive messages on walls, bathroom stall doors etc to positively enhance the m.s. atmosphere
A4 I work with very professional and educated Ts, but we need to work on our building climate overall. We are instituting Positivity Project this year to try and help that process along. #122edchat
#122edchat a2 If me and mine (ss or my team) are working then we are succeeding. Because even practice is a measure of success, particularly on the days you don't want to do it #MakeItReal
A4: so many wonderful relationships with last year's kiddos...a few still slipped through where I could have forged a stronger bond. Looking forward to another year and more kiddos to bond with in just a few days! #122edchat#culturize
A4. I really enjoy the open and honest conversations that we as teachers can have together. I think itβs a great way to share ideas and support one another. However, I do hope that the connection between home and school can grow stronger. #122edchat
A5 I like to try to lead by example and take pride in the work that I am doing in the relationships I have built and work to make that infectious #122edchat
A4- I love our building! I think a majority of us have the best interest of the kids in mind. I agree with @_on11 each team has a vision, but as a whole we donβt always match!! #122edchat
A4: as a class, I would love to improve in our ability to listen empathatically. Second week of school and already itβs growing but not where I want it to be yet #122edchat
A5: Embrace the community Iβm in and be as involved as possible. Contribute positively to school culture and remain optimistic at all costs. #122edchat
A5: 1) Be positive. 2) Be excited about getting to be a part of the @Simmonsknights1 story. If I am not operating with these two mindsets, how can I expect the students to follow? #culturize with #122edchat
Reflecting on ourselves is brave. We all have flaws that we can work on but part of this PLN is about growth mindset, even for ourselves. You're an awesome educator - thats the vibe I get! :) #122edchat
A5 Be more open and try to plan some community building activities. I think the Positivity Project will help a lot with this. FIrst meeting today was very promising. #122edchat
A5 #122EdChat I think we have great pride to be a part of Dst122 & Simmons MS. The more we do as an entire staff to contribute to the school, the more pride weβd have in our building. :)
A4: I recently did an #edusations interview with @MrPStrunk, I spoke about being a RS & how I love providing feedback, getting to know Ss & the importance of collaboration. Iβm not sure that I would change anything, I absolutely love what I do #122edchathttps://t.co/yvPDIHmNoV
Hey #122edchat! Great work tonight! Special thanks to our moderator @ScottLewisITC. If you had fun this evening, come on back next Wednesday as we let @Flipgrid superstar and #StuVoiceCon18 speaker, @snej80 take the wheel. Pro-tip: Her handle is her name spelled sdrawkcab.
A5: My late Aunt Janie said, βWake up with Pride and Purposeβ and I try to embody this mindset everyday when I walk into the building. #122edchat#cultrize
A5: I will share and share often. I will build others up every chance I get. Meaningful praise will be the norm and we will celebrate growth from failures as much as, if not more than, the product.
#122edchat
A1: I wish I had known how to ask for help and look for resources! One of the teaching teams I was on had all 1st and 2nd year teachers on it. We were creating everything from scratch and exhausting ourselves instead of asking for help! #122edchat
A5: I like to immerse kids in the places they are studying so they feel like they are in say Ancient Egypt rather than just βat school.β If they take pride in the place, they take pride in the learning. #122edchat
A5: I think itβs the little things Ss see you do Outside of your teacher job description that kids pick up on. Pick up trash, wipe a table, plant flowers...#122edchat
A5: This sounds weird, but take good care of the bathrooms. Places get judged by the general condition of things like that. Take pride in the bathrooms, and the rest of the building will follow. #122edchat
#122edchat - A5 - Champion the kids. Make sure and highlight how awesome they are and how many amazing things they can do if given the chance. Stay positive when others are negative as well.
A4. I like the tables and chairs in the library and the space to spread out and work. If I had to chose a true classroom, it would be an outside clrm. pavillion type. Where we could utilize our natural surroundings. #122edchat
A4: I β€my room- flexible seating, it's colorful, open environment, Ss see Ts collaborate and laugh together, Ss feel valued & safe, Ss have voice & choice in many things we do, overall feel it's a very special school to be a part of. #122edchat
It's a growing national movement that actually started right here in Central NY. It is mostly an ES thing, but our HS and other MS does it already. It is all about character building. #122edchat
A4: I love that I met some of my closest friends at work, but I would change the fact that I don't know everyone else as well as I wish I did. #122edchat
A1: I wish I knew on my first day that you don't have to try to be everyone's (coworkers more than students) friend. Just because you work together doesn't mean that you need to hang out outside of school. #122edchat
A4 I enjoy the conversations we are having at the district level and how our team collaborates on the work that needs to be done! We are better, together! #122edchat#CravenEdChat
Q4- I love that our staff calls ourselves The Stonewall Family. We are a close bunch who respect, care for, & help one another. If I could change one thing, it would be a greater understanding by Ts that taking risks is OK - and encouraged! Iβm working on it! #122edchat
Great chat #122edchat and @ScottLewisITC . Hubs wants to go get ice cream now, so who am I to argue! It's the best part of summer in NY. Have a great rest of the week everyone!
A5 - I bring positivity and hope each day to kids and staff. I promise to make a difference. Itβs not always easy, but that goal has truly made things attainable. #122edchat
#122edchat A5: Spent some time last year focusing on the teachers and highlighting what some of my colleagues did throughout the year. Small signs for participating in school sponsored, lunch , and after school events for teachers. Showed how much we were involved in.
#122edchat a3 #MakeItReal I really, truly, need to stop and smell the roses more often as part of my reflection. I've noticed mates who do this, sleep better and we all know how important that is too. #teacherlife, gotta look after self.
A2b~ when the laughter and lightheartedness is contagious & the Ss who have exp trauma have exhaled & experienced complete joy & unconditional β€οΈ #resilience#122edchat
A5: to Foster a sense of pride in the building I want to foster a sense of pride in the self and in the relationships we have with each other. #122edchat
A5: teaching the students about leadership. #culturize has me thinking about how we can teach students how to be leaders...we tell them (5th graders) but do they know what that means, and how to do it? We can do it better and they don't need a title. #122edchat
A2: Great question. I look a lot at self reflection and think, "What could I have done better in this lesson?" This also is a measurement that comes from student feedback and monitoring as well. #122edchat
A5 not many folks in the school are part of Twitter PLNs. I will spread the word and encourage more to find their own appropriate networks. They #122edchat
A5 Last year our grade level had a bulletin board where kids got to recognize other kids for job well done! Academic, helping others, taking care of environment... Our Archer Actions π #122edchat
A4: I absolutely love my staff, students, and community (My second family that I absolutely adore.). Our community is so supportive of education! If I could change anything, I would love to find more & more ways to remove any & all stress from my staff. #122edchat
A5: I just finished adding school, house, grade-level, and kindness hashtags to my classroom to up the pride another notch #122edchat#Culturize#WeAreCaldwell
A4: my principal is pretty open to most ideas, always listens and reflects back with me. I changed the seating in my nook and tried over summer school. Really happy with the way it works, will keep it for the school year. #122edchat
I am an alumni at the school I teach. I feel that in itself shows the love and pride I have for our school. I try everyday to make it feel like the greatest place to be on earth!!#122edchat
#122edchat a1 Looking back at day 1 as a teacher I would be telling myself that there is no such thing as a perfect worksheet; and oh yeah, worksheets are generally rubbish! Could have saved time to spend on developing other ways!
A3: I think 1 thing that I would change would B 2 talk about things that I do in class that R positive but w/examples 2 show how it is improving what I do as opposed 2 just talking about it. It's hard 2 be a new teacher with new ideas w/o sounding like a "know-it-all" #122edchat
A5: I created a twitter handle for our school and I am encharge of our social media - FB, Instagram, Twitter. I'm working to tell our story to help make us stronger! #122edchat
A5. Take care of your school, and clean up after yourself! Throw trash away in it's proper place! During cold and flu season, having Ss wipe down tables, chromebooks, and use sanitizer on their hands! #122edchat
A5: Tweet the amazing things that @IndianLakesES Thunderbirds are doing. Praise Ss and Ts for everything they accomplish. Share with everyone how proud I am to be a Thunderbird ππ #122edchat
A4: I LOVE a lot of the people that I work with @ MHS. I love the collaboration & team-building that I can do w/these people who R just as willing to work w/me. I would make changes 2 help better support new teachers & teachers w/extra sections. #122edchat#NotTryingToStartDrama
A5: Continue to promote a family atmosphere, take time to celebrate all the good things going on, attend activities & share out (pics & acknowledgments from concerts, activities, games, classrooms, etc.) #122edchat
#122edchat A2: Great question! I would consider it a success when Ss can express that they understand the content. Sometimes they surprise me with their answers! :)
A5: I am in awe of our school each day. I am so proud that our students treat each other well and model respect on a daily basis. I proud of the energy and dedication that our staff brings each day. I hope to share my appreciation each day. #122edchat
A5: I try to encourage students to interact with others and go to school events. I previously had a page on my Google Site where students could submit activities that they are doing to let others see/attend. #122edchat#GoPioneers
A3: More patience and understanding.
As a teacher, I was able to change or experiment in my practice and then get immediate results and feedback.
As an administrator, change and experimentation are slower... they are conversations, encouragements, relationships.

A4: The best part is definitely the people I work with! Our school wouldn't be the same without the amazing people in it! There are always things you wish you could change, but personally, I'm looking forward to finding more balance this school year for myself. #122edchat
I thoroughly enjoyed #122edchat this evening! Itβs important we follow one another and share ideas that will move our schools, districts, and states forward!
